[Very, very sad] Losing touch screen !!!! - Eee Pad Transformer General

Very sad news: I found that Transformer is built very bad hardware. The first is designed rickety, open light error and today, my screen was completely out of touch.
I am using normal and always in my pocket camalgams sock opens today but can not be unlocked by sliding finger. I tried rebooting many times. Even reset the rom but still is not. And I think that is certainly due to bad hardware.
The sad thing is that my machine was purchased overseas and now can not guarantee. I thought maybe I never use Asus again.
Who is like me?

what is your build number? what ROM are you using? did you try reflashing it? wiping it might not do anything but reflashing could. did you use the nvflash method?

Just because your tablet was faulty, doesnt mean all transformers are this way,you had some misfortune, but that doesnt mean to bring everyone else down with you.We will help you out as much as possible, but leave the negativity at home.

Like said above, what ROM you're running? You can try flashing Prime 1.4 with nvflash and see if it helps.

before I buy one, I have read many complaints about the hardware failure of the Transformer, but finally decided to buy. And I was the victim.
Maybe I was a bit negative, I'm very sorry about that, but the machine of my friends are facing a similar situation (not including loss of touch-screen error).
I'm using the rom Prime v1.4, by nvflash root machine, operating system Android 3.1. I tried to flash and install rom but do not be.
Who is have a better way?

Some people have been able to fix this issue by letting the battery drain completely. This might take a long time though since the device will go into sleep mode once every 15seconds or so and causing it to drain little battery. I suggest you booting into CWM and letting it sit there till it shuts down by itself and then charge it to full to see if it helps. Many have reported success doing this.

Thanks so much, i will try it
I used nvflash to flash, should not be able to recovery, for trying to open up this screen. The fully charged battery,

If it comes down to it,just flash back to the stock rom and uninstall clockwork, send it back with the warranty card and the issue your having and Asus will fix your problem or send you a new tab,a friend of mine had to do that,he has a new tab now.

So sorry, my english is bad. I live in Vietnam and bought this machine in Hong Kong.
My screen is now in the installation. It takes very little battery power, I don't know how long it takes to out of battery
Help me plz !!!!!!!!!!!

I had this problem too with my first TF ... i owned it about 1 hour.
As I went back to the shop they said to me that I wasn't the first with this problem. They just gave me a new one.
So flashing back to the stock rom and sending it to ASUS would be a good solution from my point of view.

No Asus in Vietnam?

What's especially funny is that we have a guy in Vietnam posting clearly enough in English that we know what's going on and have offered suggestions to fix his problem, which he is now following.
I wonder how many of us would be able to do the same in any foreign language forum, much less one in Vietnam.

Excuse the colorful language. I'm a Vietnamese expat who had to learn English, and these sort of grade-school behavior tend to get me hot under the collar. I wish I can help the OP, but I don't have a TF.

Anyone got an idea? It seems as if my battery wont take any charge. Only turns on when phone is "Charging." I gave HTC a call and they are so damn stupid. Im sorry but honestly.. they cant trade out my battery! Wanna know why?! THEY ARE MORE WORRIED ABOUT COMPLETING ORDERS WITH NEW CUSTOMERS. Hmph knowing google i wasnt surprised but STILL! REALLY?! So basically I have to shell out 50 bucks for a new battery? Maybe someone knows something.. I didnt post in accessories because it isnt so I dont know... if this is wrong place sorry.

Did you install the RAM hacked kernel? That has a known issue of causing batteries to no longer charge, and you must revert back to the stock kernel or the recently released patch RAM hacked kenel.

The stock ROMs don't fix it, IIRC, you need to flash the stock kernel.

Not really sure, I just started reading up on the Cyan and Kernel for the Nexus One a couple days ago. Perhaps someone that has messed around with the stuff and has a link handy to the kernel he needs could post it up?
As well, I would be willing to bet if you did a search of the Cyan 5.0 ROM thread for "kernel" you would find a link at some place in there.
OP, you need to chill.
Just reflash Cyanogen's addon pack.
I found the Zimage or what ever to flash.. but my battery is dead! GAH! now i have to order one because i dont have a batt to flash it with
That new battery may or may not come charged, if that's what you mean. You might need a friend with an N1 to help you out, if you need a charged battery to reflash.
FYI, worst case scenario, you could always mail your battery to somebody, let them charge it, then mail it back... I would recommend trying to find someone in Cali first, since it would take about 4 days round trip then. I would be willing to help you out, though, if you can't find anyone else... but I am in Iowa, so it would take more like a week or so round trip.
how about turning it on with the charger in w/o the battery? My g1 can do it. Not sure if that applies to other phones.
I find it funny how in your first post you call htc and google stupid for not fixing your battery issue which you obviously brought upon yourself by installing custom roms.

It's pretty obvious that he didn't realize that it was the custom kernel that was the cause of his issue.

no wonder HTC doesn't want to know about unlocked nexus going in for warranty.
if you install a custom rom the least you can do is try to stay on top of things related to that rom. I haven't unlocked, but even I knew there was an issue with batteries not charging.

Perhaps now you can understand why some of us are irritated when people jump the gun on things. In this case, we're talking about people going straight to rooting and flashing their phones with custom ROMs without realizing the potential issues related with them... in other cases, well I won't get into off topic discussion...but suffice to say that this isn't the last time you see someone flash a ROM, then ask why his phone isn't working the same as it was before.
HTC picked up my N1 yesterday because it wasnt charging. It said it was charging but as soon as I took out the charger it turned off.
It had an unlocked bootloader and they said they would send me a new one...
Fingers crossed I get a new one soon
I didn't know about the kernel doing this so just I emailed them, then phoned and they sent someone to pick mine up...
Man that's bad.You really should not root your next one, and if you do, you should take responsibility for your actions.

You talking to me?
HTC gave me a new Nexus One today and mine was unlocked and replaced no problem And it wasn't to do with the kernel because the report from HTC says the battery was faulty But they gave me a new device anyway.
I love it how people just love to automatically point the figure at somebody else for their fault. Maybe you should have first read more about something when you decide to root your phone rather than running and screaming like a two year old.
There are many reasons to root/rom/kernel the phone when you may not be considered one of the 'enlightenned' as this thread seems to insinuate.
If you need to do anything that is not in the android ideal as far as application framework goes your screwed.
I bought this phone since I was "sold" that it was "open"
and for "development" that to me impiled it at least had a shell...
This thread has gotten seriously off track.
Please respond in the vein of helping identify what the stable(est)rooted baseline should be.

My Screen is Touching Itself

Hi all,
About 2 weeks ago I noticed the bottom left of my screen would activate by itself repeatedly. This mostly seemed to happen when I was trying to type something. It carried on for a while so tonight I flashed a romkitchen rom (2.3.3) (I was on 2.2.1 before), thinking it might be a bug in the system somewhere. Well the problem is still there and I;ve discovered it's always that same corner of the screen that does it no matter what orientation I have it in. I can't even sign into the market at the moment because it makes it impossible to type and the screen ends up freezing until I press the home screen.
Is there anything this could be other than a hardware issue? I did a full factory reset etc during the flashing process.
If I need to send it back would I need to flash it back to stock? I bout my phone from O2 in the UK, where can I get the correct firmware? samfirmware has loads but how do I know which one I need?
Thanks in advance!
Sounds like a hardware issue. Did it ever get rained on or something? Do you use a screen protector?
You might want to edit the topic title, although it is quite funny. Read it and think a bit.

It happens at random. Sometimes it works fine. Not related to being plugged in though
I know someone that had the same issue, though it was with the Vibrant (not i9000m). He sent it to samsung, but it still has the same problem, though not as frequent. I haven't seen him in a while so I'm not sure if he ever got it resolved...

Just to eliminate all possible outside influences, take the protector off and clean the screen really well - and see if it still does it. If it does, then bring it in and try your best to be convincing

I'll see how it goes with the protector off. I think my screen is failing though as now on occassion the screen will completely freeze and I have to put it to sleep and wait a few minutes for it to start working again.

I've had the same problem. Unlocked SGS on Orange UK. The problem was on/off for a while but eventually got so bad I couldn't use the phone, removing screen protector made no difference.
I stuck an old Froyo build on and took it into carphonewarehouse, they sent it off and it was fixed in their repair centre. No problems since and that was 4 months ago.
Not sure how you would go about getting the operators rom on there but I'm sure you can mess around with Kies to get it to download the one you want.

Definitely not working for any company, and I have developed many Android ROMs and never had this problem. I've been here since 2005, for crying out loud. This is my first Samsung ROM, so I admit to being new there. I will even accept your "stupid idiot" comment, as I guess I deserve it. Although, I wonder why 150 people have downloaded it and only two or three people that I can see have been bricked. Something must connect those with issues. We need to find what it is.
Also, I am happy to pay for the de-bricking of those who are legitimately bricked i.e., followed instructions, have a receipt from JTAG, or whatever it is). Just PM me.

Absolutely. I understand. I have gotten into many messes since i started developing, and know that panic. I just need to know everything you.and the other user who had this problem can tell e about your device so i can find out what the common denominator is. So, confirm it is the wifi and 3g version you are using, and what build you are coming from, if you would. Are you using a sim card? Have you tried pressing power and volume up for a while? Thanks. Also, does your tablet feel hot at all?

Charged all night, tab is hot along left edge, so I'm guessing still charging. 8600.

I would try pulling the battery but have no idea how to get the case off.
Steve, just wondering out loud whether those who have the hard-brick issue be because there are on pre-production hardware, so they have a slightly different hardware SKU. Hence your ROM does not work for them.

That seems to be the case for one of them. I am not positive about the others. I am having a hard time getting people to just tell me what build they were using prior to the flash...There seem to be 3 people who have had this porblem, and there must be something linking them, although it may be something random. Need to figure it out.

I came from P6800ZSKL2. Dont know if it was from the very first production line, but judging by the quality (i bought three, all with crap displays) they probably were.
Also, i believe the device is on and trying to unpack something because it is indeed warm.
This of course means that there may be hope of getting into download or recovery yet... i will drain it for 34 hours and then attempt to turn it back on.

For the record hard bricks on the Exynos 4210 will occur generally in one of 3 ways:
1) Mis-matched boot.bin and sbl.bin
2) Incompatible boot.bin and sbl.bin combo
3) Invalid PIT file flash from an earlier generation TAB or Galaxy S device
Anything else causing a black screen is simply hardware failure.

Can someone make a video to demonstrate...

Can someone please make a video to demonstrate the random reboot and boot loop problem happening on a completely stock, factory resetted Transformer with no 3rd party apps?
Not saying you guys have to prove anything but if we have this kind of video and post it everywhere, it will garner much more attention and maybe Asus will do something quicker.
Just the fact that you are posting this tells me that NOBODY will be able to create a video that you would accept as "proof". Besides, how are we supposed to videotape a "random" reboot that may take up to 24 hours (or more) to show up (and again, at RANDOM). The video would have multiple cuts and would be impossible to authenticate.
I think we know what a reboot or a bootloop look like... And we've sent lots of logs to Asus as real "proof".
Trust me, Asus knows there is REALLY a problem. We don't need to spend countless hours trying to capture a random reboot on tape.
Give me a break.
And before anyone calls me an anti-asus troll, please don't get me wrong - I love their products and nobody else makes a comparable tablet/dock combo! They release very frequent firmware updates which I also love! However, their response to this particular issue has been less than stellar.
Sure, Ill record a ~78h long video (roughly the frequency of my random reboots so far).
Just buy me a bigass HDD and Ill email the recording to you. Then I want to you watch every second of it in one go, no fast-forwarding or skipping.
... seriously though, a clip of a random reboot doesnt help the developers ONE BIT.
"right, so the device restarted... lets fix it! *searches code for entry "random restart"* oh look at that, no hits..."
There is a reason software uses logfiles. If you'd ever looked at one you'd know they provide a million times more information than a video clip will ever do.
Theres a saying, "a picture says more than a thousand words". But in coding its the exact opposite, a picture is more or less useless.
ASUS knows about this issue. But fixing something thats completely RANDOM and doesnt even happen on ALL devices makes it a ***** to pin-point in the code.
If you want to help asus - send them your logcats. Not a 78h long, useless, video.
Actually, Asus has one (mine) at their repair facility. My Transformer died (endless reboot to the eeepad screen) which nothing would stop, not connecting to ac, not holding the power button, not holding power and volume down. It was rma'd and returned with a factory restored image of ics, nothing on it that didn't come from Asus. I turned it off, and it would not turn back on. This is a completely stock tablet, never rooted, no 3rd party apps, heck I never even entered my Goggle Account. And it was working fine before ICS. They've had it since March 11 and have asked me to describe what happened a couple of times. I told them to fix it, turn it off for an hour or 2, and try to restart it. So, a totally stock tablet, fresh ICS from Asus, no 3rd party apps, and it won't work. If I ever get it back I'll let you know what they claim they did.

Hm what makes you think you would have to record the entire duration.
It can be cut. You can start recording when it's boot looping. Just show your app drawer or list of apps in your settings afterwards.
Hah I can't believe some people in this thread thought you would have to show the whole duration. It can be cut. It can be fast forwarded.
Just needs to show the boot loop or random reboot happening AND show the list of apps afterwards, not before.
I remember seeing a similar video for Prime. Kinda surprises me that nobody posted a video yet and it's been over a month since we got ICS and all the issues.

Yeah, I'll get right on that for you! It serves NO purpose to do this! Go away....
Why do you think people need to (or would even want to) try and prove this to you????
I KNOW there is a problem, I don't need to prove it to you! You would never accept that as real "proof" anyway, and you know it!

lol. why are you so defensive?
DON'T DO IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO. I was just asking, and not even you specifically.

Again, you are being overly defensive for no reason.
There were similar videos for Prime. I just wanted to see one for TF101.

In case you haven't read your own thread, you are the only one who thinks this is a good idea.
Look, as I remember, you said that you reboot your device at least once a day, so how do you even know if you have the problem or not?
My problem is this - you come on here acting like everyone that has the problem, has the problem because they did something wrong. Since you don't believe you have the problem, you assume that everyone who does have the problem is doing something wrong and that full wipe will fix it when some of us have already done that many time to no avail.
Instead of leaving us be to resolve our issues, you ask folks to waste time making videos to prove it to you!
Why are YOU being so defensive? You are the one asking for proof - not me!!
I keep telling myself I'll ignore you, but your reasons are so lame, that I can't help myself!!!

lol I know I am not getting random reboots because I constantly monitor my tablet for random reboots. I run an app that displays uptime on my home screen and I never empty out my recent apps list.

Nope. I've even said that factory reset doesn't work for everyone. I came to that conclusion long time ago. People are experiencing the problems in different ways. Factory reset is just one of the solutions that have been proven to work for some people. Wakelock is another solution but that also doesn't work for everyone. So what's wrong with suggesting what have been proven to work for the large majority of people who fixed their issues? Sounds like it's the logical step in troubleshooting. People can't know whether it will help them or not before actually trying it.
I suggest it depending on what the person has said in his post. If he said he had tons of apps and did OTA update without wiping, I suggest it because I genuinely believe it will at least alleviate the problems. Pretty sure any reasonable person would think the same.
I do have a hard time believing ridiculous claims though, such as the one by Knoxploration, who says both his and his wife's TFs have random reboots and boot loops even after factory reset, running on stock with no apps. What an amazing coincidence that they both have the most extreme version of the problem.
I think there is already enough attention on the issue from Asus.
There is even a thread created by Asus employee to sort this issue. Its sticky on this very forum.

I am aware. But a lot of people have been complaining that Asus isn't giving enough feedback.

Luckily I dont have the issue, so I haven't been following the thread.
You can try the new kernel for the tf101 3g (version 9.2.2.3), is said to adress the issue. You can flash guevor kernel test 7 on non-3g TFs.
Just accept the fact that we are quite many who has an RR/SoD'ing TF101 and then accept the fact that we are quite upset with Asus?
Oh crap... I just fed a troll...

Im not
Compared to Ainol, Asus are gods
... But the RR/SOD is quite annoying nevertheless.
Video of reboot to freeze
Here is a video of a reboot to a freeze I cobbled together, on an B70 with ICS (4.0.3) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LZ5Q-kUSq4&feature=youtu.be
[replaced original video(s) with a more stable video of reboot to freeze].
About the RR and SOD problems, a lot of people solved their issues using the lastest kernel from Asus (9.2.2.3). It was actually release for TF101G.
Its not official yet on TF101, but there is a build from guevor here (test8) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565519
Reportedly is working very good.
They see me trollin'.
Better than a video, would be to show the logs. And there are logcats of the reboot event, there are a team of devs that had those logs.

what the hell is wrong with this tablet ?!

hello xda,
i am a huge android fan and i bought this tablet the first day it was available in my country, but am am very very disappointed: it doesn't stop freezing, when i take a photo it will freeze 1/2 times, the screen takes around 5 sec to turn on, rotating takes very long time, sometimes it freezes with a very strange sound coming from the speakers, ect ect ect
i cant trust this tablet: when i am writing a message on a forum i will freeze and restart (maybe the keyboard freezes) i have to save my message a few times into google keep to be sure i don't lose my work. i could throw this out of my window. i hope android 5.0 will fix all these problems, otherwise i will sell it.
are you guys experiencing the same problems ? , i know many of you are hiding them that's what i did in the beginning, otherwise my friends (who are all apple fanboys) would laugh at me.
i am fed up with this thing, do anybody know how to fix all these problems ? if these problems can only be solved with a factory reset, its better for me that i sell it.
is anyone interested ? i can send it to anyone living in europe.
greetings,
inse

I didn't hide mine. Your power issue is a bad motherboard. YOu need to call Samsung and tell them its the PBA and you know it is- include a written note when you RMA, they WILL read it (even though my experience, despite having proof they've read these notes, with Samsung is still resoundingly negative). The only ones I've had as far as issues was a power issue and touch screen, the post-repair issues notwithstanding.
try to flash custom rom, and see if itll happen again
mine is solid as a rock

This is not a fix. Any bit of electronic you buy should be usable out of the box.

In this case, I agree... RMA that shiz...mine ran great out of the box, and now with PUB AOKP it runs even better!
You should never need a custom ROM to make your tablet/phone usable... They should be there to make it better, not usable

Rooting in NO WAY voids your warranty on the nexus 10...its kinda one of the reasons to get a nexus device...
