I have rooted my HTC Aria which is currently running 2.1. I also have ClockWorkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 and the liberated_aria_FR008_signed.zip ROM for attn1. But when I try to install the ROM is looks as if it is starting to install but then when it says installing or something like that it jumps back to the Recovery menu screen and does not seem as if it has installed it completely. So I have tried this couple times and have rebooted through recovery and it just starts up as a restored version of 2.1 that was originally on my phone. Not sure what I am doing wrong. It seems as if everyone does this with such ease. Please help.

Number 1 mistake is booting into ClockworkMod with the USB cable connected. Disconnect the USB cable before you boot into ClockworkMod to flash the new ROM.

I have done that. USB was not attached to phone when booted into ClockworkMod. I just don't know why the ROM is not installing correctly. Anything else you can tell I may have done wrong?

You should make sure that you have a good download of the ROM by comparing the MD5 checksum of the zip file on your SD card with the MD5 checksum on the download page.

Did you download the ROM file to a PC and then copy it to the SD card? If so then here is a Windows version of md5sum that you can run and generate the MD5 checksum. Then compare that with the MD5 value this is on the download page. If the values don't match, then try downloading the ROM file again.
If you downloaded directly to the SD card, then you can make a "adb shell" connection and run the md5sum program on the phone to check the zip file.

Then it looks like Google will be your friend. I'm sure the Mac can generate MD5 checksums in some manner.
Anyway, so did you download to the Mac first and then copy it to the SD card or did you download it directly to the SD card?

downloaded to the Mac first and then .zipped it because my downloader auto-unzips files. then i dragged onto my SD card. Then unplugged USB and then booted into ClockWork Recovery. Did the restore and empty cache steps and attempted to install the Liberated ROM. It seems like it is installing but never seems to say complete. so then i reboot and it still goes to 2.1
i boot into recovery mode then i restore to factory settings, then i empty devlk cache which seems to not even run but just shoot back to the menu when i hit "YES". Then I go to install the ROM but it doesn't seem to be installing completely

Try downloading from your phone browser. It may be the whole, unzip /rezip process that's fuxing it up.

It says:
"Finding update package"
"Opening update package"
"Installing update..."
But it does all that really fast and then just goes back to the ClockWorkMod menu screen. Then I try and reboot and it is still 2.1

Faq lists two ways to install gapps. If the rom manager way isn't working for you, try the other.
flash the zip called gapps-gb-xxx located in mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/download/goo-inside.me/gapps. flash it with recovery not rom manager.
Look for an external link--one sec, adding it for you.

Do not flash this zip.just Remove the files u see in this zip from your system using a root explorer, reboot and beats audio will be gone
But for updating through OTA u just need to un-root, these files shouldn't matter
how do i be sure

Weird, that is the files that is installed to your system, did u check if the files are back, if they are delete them again and uninstall beats apk. Boot to cwm and clear cache +dalvik. Then reboot.
Okay, might be that it's version 5 that the beats apk install's that is quite bigger.

Hey!
So i've just received the update, and as per instructions i rebooted to install the update. But after rebooting, clockwork recovery appeared with the options of NO, NO, NO, etc, Yes install unknown ZIP, NO, etc. Because i was doing two other things at the moment (and i'm a moron) i've clicked Cancel and rebooted.
So now i'm still on 4.2.2 and when i click on "Check for system update" in setup it says "Up to date"
Am i totally screwed with the OTA update? I'll punch myself in the face if i have to do the update manually and resetup everything on my device <.<''
Thanks!

With the file from my /cache folder CWM gives Status 7 - Installation aborted. (i've moved the file to my "SD card")
As far as i saw, that might pop up if the ROM is not well done, but that is the file that i got from Google
So... any ideas how shall i proceed?

If you don't want to do a manual update, you can either wait it out - the OTA will come back again eventually - or, you can take a look at system/cache and see the 4.3 update.zip, move it over to your root folder, then go into CWM recovery and install that.

I think it's because you are not using stock kernel. As far as i've gathered from reading here, there is no trouble with custom recovery in general (it seems that sometimes there are issues - mine for example), but otherwise you should be stock: Google's ROM + kernel. If i was in your situation, i would flash the original kernel (you can extract it from the 4.2.2 release image). I'm not sure about multirom, you should research that.
As for my issue, after sleeping on it i think that i'll just wipe and flash the whole 4.3 image. After that i'll setup everything again.
Turns out, that the applications i need to backup data from are not so much, and i figured out where they keep the data i'm interested in. Also i want to see if wiping will help my memory issues (almost full device = slow as hell device).

Hey,
Sorry saw that you did a clean re-install already.
I had the same problem as you. What I did was to flash TWRP (unlike CWM it allows you to ignore the verification error) and tried to take the update again. That still failed however, because I apparently had an edited debuggerd file (happens if you use the Stickmount app). I downloaded a stock one from this thread, replaced it in system/bin, and re-flashed 4.3. Finally worked.
I then re-rooted by flashing the latest SuperSU in TWRP.
Are you replacing the 'debuggerd' file within the 4.3 zip update? Or the file on the Nexus 7 before the 4.3 is flashed?
I've tried updating 4.3 using the OTA 4.3 zip & TWRP & my nexus 7 is currenly stuck the the 'X' boot logo.

It happens to me too... I usually cancel download and again try... If it doesn't work the third time ... Then i press download and restart my mobile... On completion of boot it usually starts downloading......
One more possibility is when play store is updating in background..(rare but still it does happen)
Solution
If you are facing network error while downloading an application, just switch to airplane mode and again get back to the same mode.
Also as you are using a custom ROM, there might be some issues with it. You can reflash gapps(google apps) and try to download again. If you still can't get access, flash stock ROM via Odin.
