Downgrading to stock 2.3.3 rom !!!! - Galaxy S I9000 General

I dont know where should I open this topic but if I write wrong section it can moved another topic by modder.
today I wanted to downgrade from samsung 2.3.4 JVP rom to official 2.3.3 rom however after format I got this error :
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl11 and it hangs at boot logo.
when I upgrade to 2.3.4 rom my phone works without any problem.
Can someone tell me the steps one by one downgrading process with odin?

That ¡s because you flashed also a kernel with lagfix. Go into recovery mode, from CWM menu, disable lagfix. Reboot so it disables lagfix. Go into recovery mode and check that lagfix is disabled.
Now flash 2.3.3 with re-partition unchecked.

Well I already disabled lagfix before downgrading it is interesting that at first it installed stock rom without any error but I wanted try another stock rom and that time it gave that error.but thanks a lot for ur help I will try to install according to your explanations

If you flash with repartition you dont need change Lagfix. Do you Repartion.

[Q] [H] htc cant mount /dev/block/vold/179.9

Hey guys -
So this is what is going on..
I had JT's Clean Rom installed, and everything was working fine however it was some what buggy so I wiped clean and re-flash. However, it did not remove all my data. So i went into partition manager and tried to delete the data and system. I think deleting system was a bad idea.... ( i know now ). So now when I go into recovery I try to update.zip to go into clockwork now I run into this error E: cant mount /dev/block/vold/179.9. I tried to reinstall recovery from ODIN which worked however getting same error...
Am i screwed?
I think I had Voodoo kernel as well
I did read, and I did search, I've been around this block a few times, I just think I messed up and its my own fault.
try removing voodoo and then reboot
and then reflash stock recovery using odin twice
and then the CWM recovery through odin

I'm using this thread however it says to go here first if I have vodoo: If you have installed voodoo before, please follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804784 before attempting to restore back to stock odin files
I cannot remove voodoo since I cannot get into CWM
go into root explorer
go to sd, then voodoo
press menu, more new file, name it diable-lagfix. exit root explorer, reboot phone. it should remove voodoo

Help! Failed to mount cache_fs in recovery 2e and cannot lagfix

Failed to mount cache_fs in recovery 2e and cannot lagfix
I am using original XXJPY + SpeedMod K10 / K11 / K12
I found that I am unable to convert cache_fs from RFS to ext4...
and in addition, I cannot mount /cache in recovery 2e.
Is there anything wrong with the partition? I already reflash the rom with s1_odin_20100803.pit and used re-partition but the problem still here.
Need your help
ehmm... flash speedmod back via odin and hope
I tried this situation before.
and got it solved. Here is what i did.
go to samfirmware and download ZSJF7 rom and flash through odin. (Remember with repatriation checked and select 512pit file.)
U may try XXJM8/XXJM9 if ZSJF7 didn't work for you.
When done, go to CWM recovery and flash the rom or kernal u want.
P.S. some kernal only work with froyo/eclair. Remember to flash the correct rom version before flashing the kernal with lagfix.

Help...problem flashing rom

Using Odin to flash I9000XXJPY. Odin finishes correctly and the phone restarts and goes into the recovery screen. I get two error messages.
Message 1:
update media, please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBATA:
Message 2:

copy default media content failed.
If I reboot system it gets stuck on the logo screen.
Sounds to me like the first step would be to reflash the ROM and see if that solves it.
If you still have the same trouble, flash a recovery ROM such as your original stock ROM or Darky's Resurrection and go from there.
Of course, more technically minded types here will likely have better/more complete advice.
Good luck

Tried that several times and didn't work. Any other tips.
Flash a stock 2.1 rom using 3 files plus pit file and repartition ticked. I'd format the internal sd and do another factory restore then to make the phone as clean as possible before re flashing jpy. If using 3 files use pit file with repartition ticked. If one file skip pit and ensure repartition is un ticked. I've done this loads of times to get back to stock rom after custom roms. Good luck, hope this helps

Flash JPU first with repartition ticked using 512.pit, then flash the JPY you have without repartition. JPU also has the 3-button activated bootloaders and works great... no need to go back to 2.1, imho.
Im having this same issue and flashed many combos but still not working.
It seems the int sd is not formatted correctly and wont mount.

Yeah you can do that too. It doesn't really matter which you flash to as long as it's the 3 files with pit and repartition. It's only a base rom to enable you to get the phone clean and to flash over again

it worked fine,
downloaded ROM manager app, flash clockworkmod recovery, selected S2, successfully downloaded clockworkmod recovery. then reboot to recovery via CWM app.
went to the recovery with menu

reboot system now
apply update from sdcard

Install one of these kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
thanks for the reply, that's funny cos i am actually already looking at this thread
but the problems is the last of kernal name like KG1 etc, but my is 2.6.35.7.I19100XWKDD-CL161513
[email protected]#2
so i dont know which kernal to use, which one would you suggest?
thanks again
Hmm interesting, that's a fairly old firmware without a cfroot kernel, try installing kies and see if there's a firmware upgrade for your phone.
i am really confused now,
opened kies software, detected S2, then what? there is no option to see if there is newer firmware or whatever
thanks again
Actually forget about kies. Download the latest kh3 firmware and flash it in download mode, then flash the cf-root kh3 kernel.
got the email notification from you, you said forget the odin hehe
so i flash kh3 firmware via odin yes?
1) Install Kies(only install it, do not run it or Odin will not work)
2) Download odin 1.85
3) Set phone to usb debugging (settings > applications > development > usb debug
4) open odin (and mount the firmware tar file or files, see specific threads for how and or what)
5) Shut down your phone and reboot it into download mode
6) Flash through odin

That's what i would do, place the CORE file as PDA, MODEM file as PHONE and any one of the CSC files as CSC. After its installed flash the cf-root kernel.

no no, I meant he needs to install kies, thats it. He should not have kies running in the background or even running in the windows tray at all, when flashing with odin. Edited my post to make it more clear
When I rooted mine, all I had to do was to flash an insecure kernel (you can get much newer versions now than the KDD, up to even KH1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671&highlight=insecure+kernel), then use superoneclick to root. Superoneclick will flash in CWM recovery for you, so after superoneclick, just reboot straight into recovery. No need to flash anything else unless you want the CWM Rom Manager app.
Superoneclick doesn't give you clockworkmod recovery, you need a CWM kernel, as in samsung land recovery and kernel live in the same happy little place.
Newer stock firmware+cf-root is the easiest way, you may lose your app data though, so backup (try titanium backup, only restore user app data or data in green)
thanks for the replies
i downloaded the KH3 rar file, extracted to a folder. see the screenshot in attachment
which ones?
thanks again

OMG!!! I've got the same problem with you.
I had the same thing, what i did was from the cwm app i downloaded the latest cm7 nightly, once installed and it pops up skiing do i want to instal and wipe etc i clicked yes, the phone rebooted and an android symbol appears and nothing happened.
So i long pressed the power button to switch it off, when i switched it back on, the phone starts installing cm7, once that completes, everything was normal how it should be.

How do I solve ICS Kernel Bug?

Hi guys. I have been reading about the new ICS kernel bugs and I am getting pretty frightened. I have the German official ICS with kernel XXLPY that is currently affected and I want to revert back to GB to flash Cyanogenmod instead.
Is there any guide on how to revert without using any ondevice flashing methods? I do want the kernel and everything to change aswell.
You have to first flash a secure GB kernel with odin (Abyssnote is fine) Then you restart your note in recovery mode (don't try to boot ICS with that kernel!!! Do your wipes, power off, restart in download mode then flash entire GB rom with Odin.
Or you can wait a few days until Enropy512 have a look on Sammy's ICS sources.
I was on Rocket rom v1 based on PLY and i roll back to GB and again to ICS Paranoid Androidthis based on CM9 this way with sukcess
1. i flash stock rom KJ4 with odin
2. after reboot i reboot again into stock recovery (vol up+power+home)
3. do a wipe and reboot
4. root KJ4 with instructions on XDA
5. reboot into recovery and full wipe
6. i flashed Paranoid Android CM9 and reboot into recovery (in CWM recovery Adwenced->reboot into recovery)
7. full wipe again in recovery on CM9 kernel
8. reboot and done
9. Waiting for safe ICS based on official
Dangerous way
It's safer to flash only GB kernel first because actualy, flashing a complete rom while on ICS kernel may affect emmc during flash.

That thread is the exact reason why I am confused. Bunch of ppl posting different guides saying the other guides are dangerous...
What I wanted to do:
I am on i9220 leak
Flash abyssnote zimage with mobile odin(or pc odin??)
Boot into recovery directly
Wipe
Boot into download mode
Flash pre rooted LC2 rom with PC odin
Flash CM9
Now tell me please what is wrong with these steps as I cannot seem to be able to find a coherent guide anywhere.
It look fine, the most important is to start by flashing only a safe GB kernel BEFORE doing anything else and don't do any wipe while on LPY.
Of course the phone wont boot unless on recovery and download modes but you don't need anything else to flash a new rom
By doing that, any wipe (partition format during flash process) will be made safely by GB kernel.

Does this increase the Flash Counter and i get the triangle?
When i started rooting and flashing on my note, that was the state of the art.
Since then, Odin on PC is a "No No" for me
So is there any way now to prevent the flashcounter and the triangle?
You can do it with mobile odin, it wont trigger the counter.
Anyway the triangle can be removed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888

This is not the way to do it. This method can definitely cause problems as Etropy512 mentioned further down in that thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26241235&postcount=40
bro... my personal experience...
first flash gb rom with pc odin(until then DO NOT wipe anything)
only then enter the stock recovery and wipe everything
then root ur phone and installcmw
then go to cmw
flash abyss 4.2 redpill
restart recovery
then flash paranoid rom
just flash any gb rom through pc/mobile odin from this thread brother
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
Or if you want to go to CM9 - follow the instructions in the first post of xplod's CM9 discussion thread (INCLUDING flashing the safe kernel that is attached using PC Odin/Heimdall before flashing anything else).
Use TriangleAway afterwards.
Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have the compatibility problems between DAFUQ and XXLPY/DXLP9/ZSLPF fixed.
