Hi, i just bought my TF and i was wondering if anyone else was noticing that after a while the upper right-hand side seems to get quite hot. Is that just a problem with my unit or is everyone in the same boat?
which upper right hand side? landscape? No haven't noticed heat, it gets warm after playing games or when charging.

Not "hot" by any stretch of the imagination. Warmer than the rest of the unit, but only just barely enough to be noticeable.
pretty sure the battery or the cpu is there. so that might explain it.

Does anyone else notice a hot spot on the back of their ex? While listening to slacker in a challenging network environment, the back lower corner heats up quite a bit. (search button corner of phone on back)
I want to say that it gets hot enough that the phone starts to act sonny, but I not completely sure.
Yeah I believe that is where the 3g radio is. If I'm nit on wifi and streaming pandora mine gets really hot as well

This is more of an "annoying" occurance then anything, but does anyone else's tab get warm near the power and volume buttons? Mine doesn't get hot by any means, but it does get warmer in that particular spot. I'm assuming that's where the CPU is located?

Yep. Same spot here. Especially after a full screen Flash video.
Same here. Related to graphics or the screen, would be my guess.
That's what I was thinking, as long as I'm not alone, I'm happy.

Yeah. My tab likes to heat up just as much, if not more, near the bottom while charging. It doesn't really surprise me, but it does get quite hot.
When playing with my nexus 7 it kind of heats up on the left side generally. Is this natural or is this happening to you. also my screen isnt lifting that much. Its really really tiny and not even noticable unless you stare really hard. Its like less than a milli milli milli milli meter. So discuss
i also experienced the same issue but i just ignored it
It's quad core, yes it will heat up a bit.

I make waffles with mine
Yes, this has been mentioned in other threads. Mine gets extremely hot on the left, and remains perfectly cool everywhere else.
Hi,
I am running for a few weeks the N4 with stock ROM, not even rooted.
I have noticed that when is starting to heat up in the upper right corner there is a yellow spot.
I managed to reproduce it easily with the Stability Test app(from Play Store) using a few minutes the Classic Stability Test.
Has anyone else noticed this?
LE: Around 38 degrees Celsius the spot is more noticeable.

I have 2 yellow spots on mine... Both are located on the bottom left and right of the screen just right above the navigation buttons... It never seems to go away even though I'm underclocked and undervolted as well and my phone barely heats up.. Its only noticeable when on white backgrounds... I looked it up online and people say its just the glue and it should eventually disappear overtime.

Thanks for the answer. I decided to send my to warranty.
All the yellow spots that I found(google helped) were not related to any heating up and they were not located in the upper right corner.
I will come back with answer from service
Not anything to worry about but an extra vent wouldn't hurt. Also the heat wave doesn't hurt.

All these years and the never learn cooling is the most important thing in technology. I guess ouya better hope it can take the heat or they will have to replace them.

I completely agree... I've been saying this for years... Lol
Difficult in such a small form factor but I'm more than positive this would have been one of the first issues they ran into.
I'm surprised though, why they used an aluminium heatsink over a small copper one and some decent thermal paste. It looks like a thermal pad...
I also noticed that the fins on the heatsink are thicker in one direction than the other, so the heat is trying to escape from the larger gaps... Which run right to the side of the case and against the NIC. I guess it would have helped rotating it 45 degrees so it escapes out the top and bottom quicker
Maybe its just mine though

I still have yet to have any heating issues, most of the time it is warm to the touch after an extended use, but nothing to worry about. I won't be modding my first OUYA at all so I'm hoping it stays that way (it's the special edition one), but I plan on buying a second one down the line to mess around with.
Truthfully, my phone gets hotter after a half hour of use than my OUYA does after 4 hours.
Yeah it doesn't get that hot but you think they would put I vent in the top since heat rises. Also a console this small should be cold as ice.

You should have 4 thin vents on on the black plastic lid, just on the edges no?
btw temp is in /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp
69° was the highest I could push it, around 55° is normal for me

That doesn't seem all that high to be honest around normal desktop cpu numbers? Although the high end 70ish could be troublesome with warmer weather that should arrive any day now.

The standard throttling temperature for a Tegra 3, where it starts to underclock, is at 75°C
So there is not too much room left for overclocking!
Soon we will see better printed cases I'm sure.
