My customers schedule appointments on my website. The scheduling service sends an email with a .ics file attached. If I view this email in Gmail on my desktop I get the option to "Add To Calendar", but when I view it either through the Gmail app or the Email app on my Dream I can't open the attachment or add the event to my calendar. My old Windows Mobile phone let me import it to the phone an then synced with Google Cal over the air, I bought the Android phone because I use a lot of Google apps for my business, but I need to be able to import these .ics appointments or this phone is not worth the upgrade. Can anyone help?
I have a few calendars imported into my Google Calendar on my desktop. First up log into your desktop with your google account and view your calendar. Import all the .ics you want and make sure its all working, they should appear as events.
Once that's done, force a re-sync on your G1 mobile and it should appear on your mobile from there on in. Hope that helps.
RE:
Ya. That's opposite of what I want. I don't want to have to open the mail on my desktop/laptop first. I know if I log onto Gmail via my desktop I can add them to Google Cal easily, but I want to be able to open them on my Dream so I don't HAVE to go to my desktop.
Did you find your answer
I am also struggling with the same thing... emails on my android phone do not display "add to calendar" option...very frustrating
There is somethng called ICS Bot on the Android market supposed to fix this, but I have't got it working yet.
Works for me
USing dell streak
Steves version 2.2
Ics bot doesn't work for me using a Vibrant with Froyo. Receiving an error when importing the ics file. "No events found in calendar data".

I've had this issue for awhile, so I decided to write up an app to address it.
It's called "Iscer" and is Free in the market.
Hope it helps,
Luc

Just downloaded this. Works like a charm. Thanks a bunch.
Worked for one or two meeting requests, but most of them says no event data... Getting my events from Outlook appointments that I forward as an ICS file. Also, any chance of adding vcs support as well?
Thanks!

Couldn't get it to recognize an ICS sent from a BlackBerry.
Says 'No Events Found'
Hi,
you can try my app Link
i can handle really complex ics files so there should be no problem with you exported calendar.
Hello!
I am also facing the problem of importing ics from sdcard. calendarsync works until the first screen timeout and then it erases all the events for some reason!

I also published an Android App on this topic. It is called Invitation Processor. There is also a free version in the market.
Actually I have done some work on Android 4.0 (ICS) support. Unfortunately I have no real Android 4.0 device, but it works with an emulated Android 4.0.
I would appreciate, if someone with a Galaxy Nexus could give me some feedback.

Thanks for your reply! I think that was easy to fix. I already updated the app in market. Please give this a try.

This should probably go elsewhere but you have no contact details at the market page (http://www.appbrain.com/app/invitation-processor-free/com.marhinri.invitationproc.trial etc), or in app. That is normally enough for me to uninstall and look for another app.
Anyway your fix worked but:
1. It should remember my choice of calendar as default for next time
2. It doesn't handle repeating appointments (creates first occurance).
3. Importing the same appointment twice (accidently) creates a duplicate rather than your app detecting the issue.
Bye,
Dennis

whoa! This actually seems to work!
I downloaded invitation processor on my galaxy nexus. I sent a mtg from my lotus notes client and my outlook client and both worked.
I'll try to do some more testing and let you know if I see any issues, but for at least the simple case I had it worked nicely. Thanks!

Hi, I've been using this for a while now and it works like a dream....but now with the ICS update it's not working at all, it keeps crashing.
Has anyone found a decent replacement for this app, one that will take in google calendar entries from before 2 months ago?
Cheers
Claire
i have just set up an exchange email on my hero, however my company policy requires pin setup compulsory on my set.
I used to have lockpicker on my 2.1 but seems like that doesnt work on vanilla, is there another software that you guys can recommend?
TIA!!!
All Androids that our company supports install Touchdown.
It is a paid app but once we started using it we have no more issues with PIN issues.
Sync's everything including tasks which the stock app does not do.
Thank you.

Does anyone know if lockpicker will be updated to support 2.2 or if another app is out that has the same features? I tried emailing the dev for lockpicker but he has gotten back to me about supporting 2.2. HTC droid incredible on froyo w/sense.
figured no point in starting new thread to ask the same question (i dont want to use touchdown)
Thanks
NM found this post xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7182615&postcount=88
I guess lockpicker or other same type of app won't be available for a little while
Check the thread in my signature. I have written an app which strips out the relevant parts of code in the stock email apk and the sense mail apk on froyo.
I like the look of the GTab email, but it never has worked for me on my GoDaddy POP3 account. Im now on EXT4 with Quantum 2.5 and the stock email wont load either.
I am forced to use K-9, its not the end of the world, but Id like to use a stock program if possible.
Thanks
BD
Wow, that's weird that you don't like k9 leaps and bounds over the stock app.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Hi All,
I hope you can help me with that irritant security policy of exchange. I tried the search and found a lot of things but lots of it is old and other stuff is for other phones.
I read something about autostarts but that doesnt work with 2.2.2 and also there are email.apk installs.
Can you please help me with this?
thnx!

Also K-9 has no calendar option.....
Hi all.
Does anyone know if it is, or ever will be possible to add HTML viewability to the stock CM7 email app? I can view these in the gmail app, but would like to be able to do the same for my exchange emails.
Okay, clearly nobody has an answer for this. So how about other mail clients? What do you all use?

Did you ever figure something out? I would like to replace the default email app. Email apps in the app store will work (Enhanced Email, Touchdown) but I want to replace the apk with one like ICS.
Please ask questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
@dbova - I never found one that did what I wanted - I upgraded to CM9 though, and that had one integrated which was just what I needed.
@TeeJay3800 - when I created the thread, there was no Q&A section.
