Well if Moto are going for a 2011 release there's no way they could shoehorn ICS on there before it hits the shops. Better to get the hardware out and selling and work on an ICS upgrade in the background once they have the source.
Well how many people on here would install another rom, install adw ex or multilive wallpaper? So what difference does it make which OS it has.
It would make no difference to me if it had froyo, i had froyo on my 7' galaxy tab and still use all the same apps and widgets on my xoom. So what does it matter?
With ICS you can have a fingerprint unlocker? woopeee dog doo! utter worthless sales mode crap!
Let's have a fingerprint unlocker, but we won't have micro sd card expansion so we can have a thin device, i think these tablet developers are brain damaged!
I would absolutely love and use a fingerprint unlocker! I synch with 2 Exchange servers that require a device unlock PIN every time I turn it on. Not sales crap - a very useful feature for some of us.

I think they're trying to target the consumer market. Xoom 1 was best of CES and first device honeycomb. I think first device with honeycomb means a lot because the ui was designed almost exclusively for xoom 1. Xoom 2 is not innovative but lighter weight and better screen for $200 less than xoom 1 (589 vs ~389) could do wonders for moto who posted a 3rd quarter loss. If xoom 2 is the first tablet to get ics that may help it out otherwise ics on xoom1 will hopefully satisfy my needs until octacore xoom 3 comes out
Xoom 2 looks like it has a ui skin. Big problem for me.

>not sure if i get the point of them releasing it with only a dual core...
One major reason is being able to play most videos w/o need to convert, thanks to OMAP4's better multimedia support. For regular people, it means smooth HD Netflix & Hulu streaming. It's a big use-case. In addition to being thinner, lighter, more stylish, etc.
I agree it's not a big jump functionality-wise. Having ICS onboard would've been a more compelling sell, but ICS didn't make the deadline. Regardless, the new Moto line-up is much improved over the old.
>I think they're trying to target the consumer market.
Only for the Xoom Family, which is $350-ish now at BestBuy. The 8.2" Xoom 2 Media Edition will be for €400 (one can assume the same for the US), and is targeted at the under-10" segment.
The 10" Xoom 2 is targeted at the business crowd, mainly by its software load-out. Extrapolating from the announced UK pricing (£325+VAT vs ME's £299), it'll probably go for USD$450.
To sum: Xoom Family $350, Xoom 2 Media 8.2" $400, Xoom 2 10.1" $450.
The emphasis on "value pricing" (read: cheaper than iPad's $500) was made clear by Moto CEO when he said that pricing was something they'd work to bring down. I am a little surprised by the narrow price band--only $100 spacing between high and low-end. It may well be because of ICS' inavailability, which makes a more ambitious roll-out problematic.
Also, Moto is in a major transition of its own, being integrated into Goog, so it has other concerns at the moment.
Does anyone one knows any more info about this tablet? I can't find a decent video review. I am interested buying the media edition.
ICS will come later as an update. As for "When?", well... It's Motorola. Your guess is as good as mine.
The specs on this new tablet are indeed outdated considering new tablets coming in the next 3 months will mostly feature quadcore (or at least much faster hardware). The only way this tablet could be successful is if it allows them to sell it quite cheaper than the quadcore tablets. That could provide a very interesting mid-range product. So, pricing will either make, or break this product IMHO.
See Motorola is not equal to Asus
Motorola new Tablet dual core processor, less internal memory upgrade to ICS as they said.... in due course
Asus 32gig Quad Core same price as Motorola Dual Core 16gig Xoom 2. Upgrade to ICS they said before Christmas
I was surprised that they would release the Xoom 2 with the lackluster hardware and no ICS. What's the huge improvement? Apart from the fact that there's some nice but non-essential upgrades. Spill resistant Screen, shiny metal back, Rear Camera Centered, Power button on the side and not the back, Speakers centered, Grooved corners for easier holding.
My favorite being IT CHARGES OFF OF MICRO USB.
That would of been nice (and expected I would say) on our OG Xooms.
Also w/ Google acquiring Motorola and not releasing ICS on the Xoom 2 right away, I think, shows that Google is not out to play favorites since they acquired a hardware manufacturer. This should give the other big Android manufacturers warm feelings; HTC/Samsung/LG.
I could be wrong but just wanted to put my word in there.
Personally, I think once the Xoom 2 hits shelves, Moto could careless about the OG Xoom and we will be LUCKY to get ICS. I have not used my Xoom in a while since I now prefer my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 with a 32GB Class 10 Micro SD (and unlike the GED Xoom I can actually use it to move around files) and I use my Blackberry Playbook for $199. I happen to like the smaller form factor.
The OG Xoom will be forgotten by Moto soon and we will be left to XDA to update our devices;(
I really want a a premium tablet that weight less than 450 gr and is no bigger than 8.9 inch . I have a 7 inch tablet and i want my new one to be a bit bigger . Xoom 2 media edition has what i need . But nobody seems to care about it and every one want transformer prime for its tegra 3 . i am a bit afraid to buy it because i cant find any info on this tablet . Does the media edition has the digitiser to make active stylus work or not ? How is the the battery life on this tablet ? Will the xda community support this tablet or motorolla will just sell few and no one will care to built a custom rom ? I usually i am not an early adopter on products .... Do you have any suggestions for others tablets that will suits my needs ?
I read somewhere that Motorola would not lower the price of the Xoom becausenof the Xoom2, but I can't believe this statement. My guess is that there will be big discounts on the first model. What do you think about this ?

Correct, the deal hasn't closed yet. I think just recently around the 15th 99% of Motorola Shareholders approved of the merger. Most recently I think they're getting approval/clearance from the European Commission.
So hopefully January-February the deal will be finalized.

Smart keyboards make us look stupid sometimes ...
I was hoping that Samsung would at least announce their next 10.1" tablet at CES. That would've given me a reason to not keep the Prime, or wait for the Prime HD.
Just because they didn't announce it doesn't mean they're not working on it.
Secondly all these Crapple lawsuits may have Sammy keeping their lips sealed tight for the time being on what can and can't they release.
W/ that said the new Tegra 3 Asus 7" for $240 USD looks damn nice.
I have no doubt they're probably working on their next 10.1 tablet, but still, some word would've been nice.
And yes, I'm definitely getting two of the Memos. One for traveling and one for my sis. I think this Tegra3 tablet stole the Asus show (assuming it will be out soon and prices won't change).
Samsung went gangbusters this past 1/4. They have a lot going on with Android and it is only getting better. Why do you think they hire people like cyanogen?

True... S2, Gnex, Note, GT7.7, 8.9 (Did 7.0+ come out this quarter also?)
They've been busy for sure. I agree with the OP it would have been nice to see somthing, but I have no doubt Sammy has a few tricks up their sleeve. Wonder which Samsung tab will get ICS first?
Hopefully the 7.0+ or 10.1. But with that said I think the 8.9 needs it most. Honeycomb runs worst on it from what I've seen.
It will also be interesting to see the Ipad junior as I have no doubt Apple will be pushing their 8" line soon. 8" tabs just seem to be perfect for me.
The truth is, Samsung released a lot of new stuff this quarter, and their showing at CES was impressive. The thing is, it focused mainly on other applications, (TVs, Washers, Dryers, and services.) Samsung has been making massive waves with its other devices, but they never want to scuttle sales of the ones currently on the market. Samsung is undoubtedly working on a Tegra 3 tablet, but they're probably going to wait on releasing it for a few reasons;
1. Releases at CES often tend to get buried in the insanity of it all. It's a trade show, so everyone is showing off their latest and greatest, and it's hard to grab everyone's attention and hold on to it. This is necessary to create anticipation for a device. You only need to look at Samsung's releases of the Nexus S, Galaxy Tabs, and the Galaxy Nexus to realize that they always manage to generate excitement by making sure their device is released at a time when people can pay attention.
2. Samsung doesn't always make it to the market first, but when they do arrive, they tend to dominate. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 wasn't the first Tegra 2 device or the first Honeycomb tablet, in fact it was the 4th to the market. This delay allowed them to avoid some of the quality issues that plagued the other tablets. It also allowed them to release a tablet that managed to become the acknowledged benchmark for Android tablets. I'm sure the Tegra 3 variant of the Tabs will be just as showstopping.
3. It has only been 6 months since the release of the 10.1 If they were to unveil a tablet now, it would destroy the sales of the current line of devices, even though the release of the production model of the Samsung Tegra 3 device would possibly be a few months away.
4. Samsung, being a device manufacturer, may be working on shoehorning more impressive technologies into their next-gen Galaxy Tab. If the 7.7 is any indication of their direction, we may be seeing a 10.1 with one of their awesome new Super OLED screens that they have been using in their new TVs.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, be patient, (as hard as it may be for all of us.) Samsung rarely disappoints when it comes to product releases, and I'm sure their "favorite child" Galaxy Tab series will be getting something amazing in the coming months.
They probably didin't announce at ICS for two reasons:
1) To avoid getting lost in all the clutter.
2) They have the resources to hold their own mega-event. I'm guessing they'll wait until right before or right after the iPad3 launch event.
All the tablet announcements at CES were pretty lame. Especially compared to the leaked specs of the 11.6. Based on that, Samsung's next-gen tab is the only legitimate competitor to the iPad3. The question for me isn't when it's going to be announced, but when it's going to be released. Hopefully they’re following Apple’s playbook and will have it available shortly after it’s announced.
I'm assuming they're waiting to unveil their tabs/phones at MWC (2/27) since that's dedicated to mobile. Can't wait to see what they've got.

It is a big disappointment that they did not announce something they have ALREADY announced?
Confused.
Like they have announced elsewhere on tiny twitter or something. People like me don't follow micro blogging so no way on earth would I have known. A vague announcement of sometime in the first half... yeah that's a lot info to mark on my calendar.

Id actually prefer if they didn't release any new tablets for awhile because then they'll support us longer. When samsung releases the next galaxy tab line, our support will probably be over kind of like the galaxy tab (original) was when this came out or galaxy s when the s II came out.

I hope they release their next tablet with their own processor... I'm over anything Tegra based.
I personally think samsung havent made any announcement regarding any tegra 3 replacement of SGT is because they probably wanted to use their own Exynos chipset. And I hope to god that this is the case. Coming out with a Tegra 3 device will just make Samsung unable to differentiate from their other competitor. As well as they get to push their own technology rather then depend on Nvidia
I'm betting they will show it MWC. It is rumored to have an Exynos. Forgot where i read it but at this point its just speculation.
My only disappointment comes from XDA being used as a sounding board for whining. How pointless.
Looking forward to a Tegra 3 ICS Samsung tablet.
Will be selling my iPad 1 soon in anticipation. I have been suitably impressed by a recent Nexus S purchase (first Samsung phone) and really want to go Sammy/Android for my next tablet.
Cheers.
It won't be Teg3. Since 3.2 was released with support for non-Teg processors, Samsung hasn't used one. The 8.9 LTE is Qualcomm and the 7+ is Exynos.
Here's an online article from Know your Mobile...
The 11.6-inch Galaxy Tab, according to reports, will launch on Android 4.0 and feature a truly staggering 2560x1600 resolution display, which well and truly kicks Apple’s Retina Display out of the park. Other notable spec, according to BGR, is the device’s ultra-powerful dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU that is reportedly clocked at 2GHz.
We’ve also heard talk of Android Beam – Google’s version of Apple’s AirPlay – coming as standard, as well as a novel wireless docking mode for gaming on HD TV sets. All in all this sounds like one impressive slate – we look forward to seeing it (either at CES 2012 next week or at MWC 2012 in February).

The current line was introduced between CES and MWC 2011. So if there's going to be a new line then expect it to be at or around the MWC date.
REALLY??!!! SERIOUSLY????!!! How many tablets does Sammy think they need to through out at the public to get that they aren't going to sell until they lower prices, not specs! End rant.
Lower prices? The 10.1 is $50 cheaper than the iPad and the 8.9 is $100 cheaper...
I think they are currently priced just about right...
Wish they lowered the prices on the older tabs significantly.
Means we can root em and flash our own builds for a reasonable price
they are just making fools of the peoples who took tabs recently ....i got my first tab SGT p1000 first then few months later this 10.1 came up i took that traded for my p1000 now this 7.7 got infrared and can do calls too..god they gonna make me trade my 10.1 too
i agree, i think this is the only problem with android, we are being flooded with devices at them moment, hopefully it will slow down and we can see some more quality devices come out... pricing for samsungs tabs though are great i think, leave the lower market to other companies, I want a powerful device in my hands.

This is exactly what I mean! Sammy has now released like 5 new tablets with same basic hardware of their old tablets.. Tegra 3 is ready and being used by Asus already! I like Samsung's hardware the best, but I'm just sick of seeing *New tablets with underwhelming, old hardware in them.. I know that price is def a factor, but manufacturing 20 different tablets is expensive.. if they had 3 form factors/models it would save money for them, and then us!

Nvidia's on record saying they've lost Samsung as a customer and now consider them a competitor. So, don't hold your breath for Teg3. Teg3 is actually two old-gen A9 chips glommed together. Samsung's Exynos 5250 is in sampling making it the first A15 chip on the market when it’s supposed to release in Q2. Raw HP isn't the real issue with mobile devices. It's GPU bandwidth. A15 chips will be more powerful than Teg3 and have 5x the graphics b/w. I think a lot of manufacturers are intentionally skipping Teg3 and moving directly to A15 chips (from Samsung, TI, and Qualcomm) which are easier to fabricate and potentially less expensive. The Prime’s having a ton of issues where different devices behave differently when updates are rolled out. It’s too early to say its Teg3 but it’s a potential candidate for the problems.
Meh, I like choice. I don't see the point of complaining about it; unless you're an early adopter, you'll always be a step behind. Here' my suggestion for you: stop worrying about having the newest snazziest gear and enjoy what you do have. It's not a race.

"Unfair" would suggest they owe you some duty of not producing new models. Have you really thought this through? "We buy a thing today, and tomorrow they come up with the improv[ed] one." If this is unfair, how long do they have to wait? Do you realize that they released this tablet in May of 2011, 9 months ago, right? You also realize that the successor does not yet exist, right? This is the same complaint I've heard about technology for the last 20 years. I still don't get it.

BUT there is ALWAYS something better around the corner. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Nuff said. I agree Samsungs SOC will be better, but will it be too late? Look at Windows Phone 7, its great, but 3-4 years too late..
My main point..
Is Samsung going to seriously produce 20 different models of tablets? I understand it being nice to have 'choices', but Samsung has enough work keeping past models firmware relevant, let alone producing 20 new version/sizes every few months, there is no way they can properly support that many.. I wouldn't think twice is they made actually changes to new models like vastly improved batteries, or more memory etc.
I've been saying for many years that if you buy an electronic device, it will be obsolete BEFORE you make it out of the front door of the store. You might make it back home if you buy the most expensive model of whatever. It's just the way of high tech devices these days. We consumers have only helped them by replacing perfectly functional devices just for the lasted and greatest one. Even if the new one has twice the speed or memory, do you need it?
Probably not. Yet we continue to demand, and purchase, which is just encouragement for them to continue. I honestly think its only gonna get worse. It's really our fault as consumers always wanting more and better; NOW.
When I was growing up electronics were durable goods. You bought a TV and you kept it until it quit working. Now we buy a new one because of widget xyz is better on the new model. I'm guilty of this myself also, just not as much as I used to be. Even though I have more money to spend these days.

OP puts Galaxy Tab 2 in the title, then complains about how many tablets are coming out from Samsung? I mean, if you put Galaxy Note 10.1 in the title, that would make some sense, but the Galaxy Tab 2 is apparently the direct successor of the original Galaxy Tab that came out in 2010 and it's not even out yet. Who knows when it comes out.

They are damn near 2 generations apart tech wise and 2 completely different form factors.

Honestly it sounds like you just want to chat about how Apple is bad and the Xoom is still a masterpiece (its not - its quite outdated). Apple is still quite relevant to the mobile market (phones and tablets). They make solid products with good hardware, have fantastic marketing, provide options and on the tablet front, are destroying Android in terms of app support (the OS, IMO, is **** compared to Jellybean). Regardless, they're not going anywhere, no matter how hard you pray.
I love my Xoom but it is far far out of date. I can't wait to see the Nexus 10 and may very well upgrade to that.

So now I need to be an Apple user in order to have an unbiased opinion? Please tell me where I downgraded Android wrongly rather than just shrugging it off. Android tablet app support is atrocious. Its getting better and its nice that Android apps "scale" upward but in doing so, a lot of the screen real estate of a tablet is simply not used efficiently. You can compare it to mobile websites. Have you ever looked at a mobile website on a desktop? They look horrible because they're not using the screen real estate efficiently. With all that said, the user interface of the OS itself and the features and speed have finally surpassed that of iOS.
And yes, the Xoom in the tech world of tablets is very out of date. Hardware tech moves fast; its still relevant and useful but the Tegra 2 processor is simply not up to par with newer chips. One of the main Eos devs even said in their nightly thread that the Xoom is old (coming up on 2 years) and people should start looking to upgrade. It was a bit of an off hand comment (as in I don't think they plan on dropping support any time soon) but people were discussing speed and such and the simple fact is the Xoom's hardware is holding it back from taking full advantage of Jellybean (its fast but not nearly as fast as a Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 7 with Project Butter).
Back to my original point, as I stated, comparing the Xoom and Mini is silly and to me comes across as nothing more than a fishing attempt to bash on Apple and circle jerk about the Xoom with other Xoom owners. They are two products that simply don't compare well to one another. A proper comparison would be the Nexus 7 and the Mini; they are much closer in release dates and are actually of similar sizes and targeted at similar customers.

People that want a smaller tablet and are already invested in the iOS arena or simply prefer it? Tablets that are 9.6" or 10.1" aren't for everyone, just as phones that are 4.7" aren't for everyone. I know quite a few iPhone users who never got iPads because they saw the device as too large and cumbersome. The Mini introduces another option for iOS users at a different price and size.
I've cleaned this thread.
Please be civil and respectful of each other. Thanks.
In my opinion the xoom is still a far superior device to any of Apple's closed system devices and will be for some time to come.

great point, open source has always been better at providing better and faster support to products which make them more reliable and longer lasting. look how many old PCs are running linux
on the flip side, proprietary software like drivers from nvidia (on my LG phone) take forever to get updates. LG/Nvidia and T-Mobile have only just recently upgraded my phone to GB 2.3.4 (back in March) where as my Xoom is running the latest JB
I think that apple products are great! They give people who are new to the computer world a chance to learn hope to use a computer...
That being said anything beyond being new to computers in respect to acceptable customer support, software support, getting the most out of your device, power, and topping on the cake ethical business operation, you don't find it in apple.
I won't go to far into detail and try not to hate on apple to much, but I think that if you want a device that actually allows you to fully use the hardware then you have to look elsewhere. I also think that you pay far to much money for devices in that brand since they already get their hardware cheap as hell. sure they build solid hardware, but its not always high end, nor is it reasonably priced.
I bought a laptop from an off brand that was twice the power of the average apple computer today and half the price. I received it a year ago.
Ok enough with apple. Sorry that organization irritates me.
So on the xoom. I bought mine fairly recently. Some of the things I love about it is that it's build Pretty solid. I feel like I could throw this thing at a friggin wall! People claim the hardware is outdated, I don't agree. My xoom has EOS Wingray 153 currently and doesn't have any issues at all with lag. The only problems I've had with running apps is that I can't find enough that I want to use. That is to say ones relevant for me to use. I have about 64GB to fill and not enough apps to fill it with
Now this isn't as if I'm saying there aren't enough apps made for android to be honest I think there are plenty. I like that you don't need to use a ca authority to make an app attachable to the store, and I like that they don't pull root apps from the market. I also haven't heard of people being sued for hacking android devices.
I haven't been able to take full advantage of my xoom hardware yet, though it's mostly due to a lack of trying. I mostly use it for a few games and internet use when I'm not home. I also do ebooks and PDFs as well as ssh and some research. To say the xoom is outdated is in my opinion grossly wrong. The software that does a pretty damn good job of efficiently using the hardware, and I've yet to see an app thus far have trouble functioning properly or have any sort of lag. Well I did once, but that could have been so to a new build I literally just installed it also could have just been the app. In any case I no longer have lag.
To close to the question of iPad mini vs xoom. If you have a reason to use something smaller than a xoom then by all means support a terrible organization, but otherwise I think the xoom will be good for me for another year.

I hate Apple's policies for market share! But over hating their policies I hate those iSheeps who keeps saying that their iPoops of them is better than Android, which was com proved by Geekbench that it's the opposite! For all those saying that Xoom is better than any Apple device, it's a lie, BUT even with it's 2 y.o. hardware it's only worse than the new iPhone 5, which is worse to GNote 10.1, GNote 2 and GS3! And there's still missing the new devices that'll come now, like RAZR HD, HTC One X+, Xperia T, etc... And on the iPad mini topic, all I can say is that it's not worth in ANY F-Word WAY! N7 is the best 7" tablet you'll see, Xoom 2 ME is way better too! But I else think that's not fair compare a 7" tablet to a 10" one, they were built for different functions and there's no way you can be fair to both sides when comparing utility, for example: I have my Xoom, which is amazing, and today I used a little my mom's Xoom 2 ME tablet, and it was way better to read than my 10.1" screen! That's why I'm keeping my Xoom and getting a Nexus 7, as I don't need another high end 10" tablet for now and need a tablet for better mobility.

As much as I dont like the look of TWUI, it is the most functional skin of any skin. I quite like it to be honest.
And I love buttons too. Having used Nexus 4 for a while, you get used to the on screen buttons as way of life, but capacitive buttons still have their own benefits. If I am to have buttons, I would rather have it the way samsung does than the layout on One at the moment.
Frankly Samsung has done the right thing this time around. There is no point in producing a phone with premium material if you cannot produce it in enough quantity by maintaining the quality.
S4 will sell on specifications and features alone. Note 3 being more premium is right way to go. S4 is for masses really.
We are all seeing how much this delay with One is costing HTC. Not to mention QC issues we are seeing in initial batches.
To be honest this whole premium material thing only lasts for few days. I am OCD about my phones, they are kept in case, I dont really care if they use metal or not. If it feels good in hand, has good developer support, fast and decent battery life, I am golden.
I am going for One simply because of curiosity. I have been thoroughly disappointed by my last 2 HTC phones (One X and DNA).
I hope One bucks the trend.
I read this earlier, who knows if it's true. Seems like people just throw random stuff out in the hopes that it sticks. I mean, sooner or later something they say has to be right. I have always said that Samsung should buy HTC and let them design the hardware and let Samsung do the software. A match made in heaven.
Touchwiz on the One would make me ****ing puke.

You are disappointed by the One X? Give me a break
Unless you are not aware QC issues were quickly sorted and the device is the most well and hastily supported device in HTC history, I bet you've jumped ship so early you have no idea what your are talking about
I said it again n again I prey HTC will drop the mainstream game and become solely aimed at upper end, boutique and more expensive, then we will be done with all this non sense

Yes,
Screwing early adopters is never a good thing. I had to go through 4 One X before getting a good one. Leave the quality issues aside, but there were and are plenty of other things wrong with HTC handsets at the moment. That is discussion for other thread. But this notion that users are suppose to shut up and live with the problems when there are good alternatives is ridiculous.
I have bought flagships of all manufacturers over years. All of them. All HTC flagships since their first android. All Samsung and LG and even current flagships from xiaomi and Oppo. At this moment I have 5 flagship devices from 5 manufacturers with me. Mobiles are my passion. But I don't get attached to manufacturers blindly. I give fair shot to them. And the good ones end up being my daily driver. I still keep phones for few months on hope that company might turn things around or the xda development scene might get exciting for that device. And thanks to my business I do need to own multiple phone lines. So no, I have given HTC enough money and time and I am giving it to them again as I have Dev edition on preorder.
That does not mean I will be good little fanboy and say only good things about them.

What things no body is saying any good things its like a joy to just bash their devices for the stupidest of reasons
Give me a break, nothing besides the initial one x software and QC issues that you can call a disappointment, sorted in just 2 months, otherwise its now one of the best smartphones ever created
No body is screwing any body it's the life long story of early electronics adopters, nothing new and nothing specific to HTC
But alas like I said if we slab any other logo on their devices it would have been another story

I'd say battery life is a disappointment. My camera lens was scuffed within a week because of the design. My unit also had the Wi-Fi hardware defect. It has nothing to do with the HTC logo. I scrapped the Nexus 4 because of the weak glass too.

BREAKING: Samsung ditches own AMOLED and EXYNOS inside new Galaxy S IV
Posted by DannyD on 23 February 2013 at 10:01
Yes you just read the title of this message right. Our insider just gave us the first official “unconfirmed” specifications of the next generation Galaxy S, the Galaxy S IV. The Galaxy S IV will no longer use the Samsung EXYNOS processor and according to the latest rumours this processor has overheating issues. Today we can confirm Samsung will use the Snapdragon 600 and it is clocked at 1.9 Ghz which is 0.2 Ghz higher than the HTC One. The Galaxy S IV will have 2 GB of RAM and will come in three variants 16, 32 or 64 GB. As the rumours earlier reported Samsung is going to use a Full HD display. The Galaxy S IV uses a 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display we have no information if this is based on LCD3 like the HTC One. But a couple of months ago we posted the first hint regarding Samsung’s LCD factory is ready to produce Full HD panels from early 2013. And we also know Samsung’s AMOLED factory does have many problems with the production of full HD AMOLED screens.

Epic post, I feel the exact same way as I have used many phones from many different manufacturers, even different OS. The folks that enjoy tech the most are those that keep an open mind and see good things in all brands, not the close minded that are stubborn, in fact they are the most unhappy.

I agree completely. Loyalty is the quality of the ignorant consumer. The smart consumer is never loyal to any brand; he goes to whichever product is best for him regardless of who manufactured it.

And what of companies failing in CSR? Would you still buy their product just because it is the best? This is only one example. A smart consumer can also be loyal. In fact, a smart consumer should be loyal.

Well I guess we all went way OT lol but one last point. You're right, being a loyal consumer is a good thing ( although I disagree that you should be like you mentioned, it's a personal choice). The issue is that some consumers are loyal to one brand and dismiss or try to discredit other brands or one brand in particular(definition of a fanboy), that's the issue that we are discussing.
Competition is always good and if HTC forces Samsung to up the game and use better materials then that is all good in my opinion.

And for the question about the touchwiz, I'm sure MultiWindow is the desire of any smartphone user (more or less, but I think nobody doesn't want it in their phone)
Build quality goes out the window when you put a decent case on your phone so who cares man.

Competition is the mother of innovation. Personally I set my top criteria when looking for a new phone: will it feel
robust in my hand. This always leads me back to aluminium (granted, 2nd criteria is: Not Apple)

I certainly don't want multi-window on any platform below 8 inches. No matter what res you're running there just isn't enough physical realestate (that chat-head that FB messenger pushed out is getting disabled! There's no part of the screen it WON'T get in the way)
