Can't hold-click on main screens? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to hold and move widgets or items on my screens, I've tried calibrating using the nook calibration tool but it didn't help. This just randomly started happening, and I really don't want to reflash CM7 if I don't have to. I'm using the nightly 06-24-2011
Anyone ever have this issue?
EDIT: I'm dumb... I accidentally clicked Lock Desktop in ADW... Sorry.

[Q] Missing Launcher on boot

Sorry if a thread already exists but have done a search and keep finding irrelevant info with the keywords ive used.
It seems for some reason that the launcher doesn't load up and im left with a black screen.
I can however pull down notification bar and that seems to run fine although I cant get access to any menu's to install/activate launcher. I also tried putting a apk of a launcher in the AndroidApps directory to see if it would auto install it but it didnt so im assuming that it only works on first boot.
This has happened twice now on 2 different builds as far as I know and cant pin down what causes it as it seems random to me.
Has anybody had similar issue and know how to fix it by putting launcher back in offline maybe.
Did you uninstall all launchers you have or it's happening for no reason ?
Also, When on the black screen try pressing the Home button as it lets you choose a launcher whenever nothing is running.
No its just happening randomly, Im not installing or installing any launchers. Yes bud, I tried pressing home button as its the most obviously thing to try and nothing happened.
Its as if the launcher programs are not loading or are not there.
I ended up moving onto MDJ's Gingerbread now anyway but would still like it if somebody could shed some light on problem if poss.

[Q] Screening not rotating..??

I just noticed a couple of days ago that the screen was not rotating when phone is placed sideways..i have that autorotation function enabled but still not turning.
I am not sure what happened, but it is kinda irritating.
I recently flashed SC 2.5 voodoo last week, didnt notice this at first. not sure if it is rom-related or just my phone ,,maybe some apps i installed..
has anybody had this problem before?
should i just wipe and flash again? i rather not do it if i can resolve it without flashing new rom.
thank you
There should be a rotation option on the far right of your pull down menu. Make sure it's lit up
Edit: sorry I didn't see that in your op. Have you tried disabling and re enabling

I think it is important to note here that NOT ALL LAUNCHERS SUPPORT AUTO ROTATION. Do your APPS while in use Auto-Rotate? If so, then it is simply your homescreen that will not Auto-Rotate because of your launcher, and THAT you cannot change, unless you get a different launcher. If your APPS do not Auto-Rotate either though, then yes, I would wipe, wipe, wipe, and re-flash. Also the launcher that comes with SuperClean does NOT Auto-Rotate.

i use launcherpro, and i disabled autorotation for the launcher so yes launcher doesnt rotate but i like it that way. but now even if i enable the autorotation for launcherpro it wont rotate. main problem is using browsers (dolphine, stock, or opera) or typing like sending text it just suddenly stopped rotating a couple of days ago, not sure why,, other apps like games that have default horizontal display is working fine (but they dont rotate anyway..)

I have heard of this bro, it is probably the sensor. Someone else reported the same problem. They wiped, wiped, wiped, and reflashed and all was well. I would try that, I hope it works for you!

I had the same thing happen to me about a week ago, but I was able to pinpoint when the problem occurred and I was able to fix it. If you use Google Maps, at some point it may tell you that your compass needs to be calibrated and that you should wave your phone in a figure 8. Well I started waving my phone and then suddenly it hard locked and the screen turned a funky shade of yellow. I had to pull the battery and reboot. At that point I lost all rotation and sensors. If you go to the Android market and download some Compass or Sensor apps, you should see that you phone doesn't work with those apps. I ended up wiping everything and just reflashing a superclean version again. Fortunately, all of my sensors started working again and I have not experienced this problem since.

[Q] Crashes when home button is pressed

Hi all, a noobie here, I have a DZ running 2.3.3, although I had this problem before the OTA update. When I press the home button, on what is becoming annoying frequently, it crashes, the screen goes white with HTC in green, then the home screen appears, greyed out, with loading in the centre, for 15 to 30 seconds. I have tried uninstalling various apps, to see if they are the cause but it seems to make no difference. Any ideas to at least try and find out what is causing this? I have thought of doing a factory reset but would rather not if there is an easier way.
I have the same problem, It's annoying every now and again, but i've tried a factory reset which hasn't helped in anyway.
I'm not impressed with the 2.3.3 ROM..
It sounds like the launcher is closing itself to save memory. You probably have a memory-hogging app constantly running in the background. You could try force-closing the app in the App Settings menu, or you could install an alternative launcher such as LauncherPro (link) off the Market.
Just trying launcherpro now, so far so good, as stated earlier, I'm a join, would I be correct, from what I have seen so far using it, that I am no longer using HTC Sense?

Your ROM is still HTC Sense. You're just using a new launcher.

ICS 4.0.3 bug

Guys,
is anyone else having problems when coming out of an app to find nothing on the home screen? all apps widgets disappear. I have to reboot to fix this.
I noticed someone else having this problem on another forum but there's no mention of any fix. Any solutions??

Ok I think i've found a solution to this issue. It appears to be a fault with the stock launcher. I'm using another launcher now (not stock) and i'm not having any issues yet.

i've also discoverd that, but if you remember wherer one of app icons is on the home screen just hit it and when its starts hit the back key, then it should all be there again

I've been experiencing this from time to time, and have been rebooting to resolve. I'll try your approach next time. This issue has been in the background for me, as I"m really wound up with the random, spontaneous reboot issue, but it is annoying when it happens. C'mon ASUS with an OTA fix to all of this.
have you got any widgets on your home screen?
remove them and try again

I did not had this issue since I updated to ics.
It only happened on hc, after 3 or 4 days with no reboot and many installations.
As you my only way to solve it was to reboot. Or you may try to kill the launcher, to force it to reboot. I got it working some times.

i tried tapping all over the screen when i had the problem. However, since changing the launcher I don't seem to be having any problems now.

We've been having some conversation about this issue here, maybe something we've discussed might help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516744
My problem is that the stock browser will suddenly and inexplicibly crash. Never happened before ICS.
I also observed the same issue of black home screens with stock launcher and now switched to ADW EX, and no issue.
One observation though this may be not the exact reason: I observed this issue only after installing the Volume+ app, before than this, I did not observe the issue after upgrading to official ICS, only yesterday after installing Volume+ app, I observed this issue twice and then switched to ADW EX launcher.

The stock hc browser crashed fairly often for me. Only once or twice with ICS and now it remembers the tabs open during the crash.

It happens to me sometimes and fixes itself when I touch the screen even without actually launching an app.
You can make the apps re-appear by swiping to one of the other home screens. I have a suspicion that there's something wrong with the draw call for the launcher. The apps are still there, they're just not drawn to the screen. Swiping left or right to one of the other home screens causes a draw call to occur again at which point the apps re-appear.
Also noticed that the camera pop occurs whenever I see the white triangle on the screen. Probably related to that.

[Q]-Non Rooted Stock-Homescreen issues w/ Launchers.

I searched XDA and Google like crazy before finally deciding to post this thread. I can find things that seem similar, but not at the same time. If I missed something, please point me in the right direction..
Most of what I'm reading recommends a different launcher to help with the lag of the stock launcher. I do not have an issue with a laggy stock launcher. Instead I'm having issues with EVERY other launcher I have tried, and believe me I'm pretty sure I've almost tried all of them.
After a few minutes of playing around on my G2, when I hit the home button, or just back all the way out to it, my home screen seems to jump around and my wallpaper appears to resize itself a few times. The soft keys will appear, disappear, and reappear again causing the whole screen to make a kind of up/down shuffle. It also does this when turning on the screen.
It's more annoying than an actual problem, I could just stick with the stock launcher, but I'm not a fan of the icons/folders. I'm not sure if this is the home screen redraw I keep seeing people talk about or what. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Right now I'm using Apex and have it set to stay in memory. Thought that might help, but no.
