In my opinion, Fresh Rom 2.0d followed by DarchLegend.
Ill put my hat in Fresh's corner. I used damage's rom as well. You cant really go wrong with either.
I've tried DC 2.05, 2.06, 2.07, and 2.07.2 and each one becomes unusably slow after just a couple of hours. I don't know why. I would literally wait 10 seconds for the Settings menu to show up.
I switched to Fresh this morning and so far it's running well. Not as well as DC 1.0 did (I have no idea why the Eris ROM is so much faster) but well.
I've been using DarchLegend for a while now, and it is by far my favorite. Especially with visual voicemail working in the latest release, it is a very solid rom. But you just have to try them. Make a nandroid backup, then just start wiping and flashing like crazy
im trying to download it but it says could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. contact server or admin why is this
honestly, none of the current 2.1 roms cut it for me because of several issues including the audio loss. if you want a 100% working/stable/fast rom go with pancake 1.5.
I'd say fresh's feels the most stable
I do have a place in my heart for darch's AOSP so I am going to say that's my favorite, hopefully he gets that update out soon.

It's an issue with your computer. You don't have to post in every unrelated thread about it.

I had more issues on 1.5 than I ever have on 2.1 (especially DarchLegend like I mentioned above)

lol thank you im just trying to get this installed i been anticipating forever to get a rom and now i rooted it and i want to go all the way lol im going to restart
Right now I would have to say Fresh then Damageless. I find myself using both more than all other dev's ROMs but Fresh's ROMs always seem to give me the least hassle and run the smoothest. I love trying them all out though. I am addicted to flashing ROMs and modding my phone.

Not everyone experienced the audio loss issue. To the OP, just do a nand backup and try them all out.

My main issue with all the 2.1 roms is the battery life..it flat out sucks.
I'll plug my phone in and check it about every hour and see its gained about 5% battery life. Yay! If I can turn my phone on and the battery loses 2% while im looking at it, its useless to me.
I'm running Pancake 0.1 with Sense and even on heavy use I get easily 20+ hours out of it. Yesterday I unplugged my phone at 8 in the morning and I sit here at 4pm the next day with 5% battery left. On a smartphone? WOW!
Time to plug it in!
man fresh rom has so many problems keep gettin force close apps audio problem doesnt ring and hate the thing when i make a call i feel vibration
ive never had any problems with any of fresh's roms most stable by far! ive been using darchlegend for the past week, and i love the new widgets no problems at all except my 5.0 doesnt have vvm i havent upgraded to 5.0.5 yet.
hey u live in my area im in miami .. but yea i put it on and i did the wipe i keep getting error that says force close things also i couldnt hear my ringer .... im trying the [ROM](1ST with all recent fixxes built into one rom)DamageR_2.7 but do i suppose to update my radio??? ima noob
my votes for regaw. Been stable for me no problems
Yes, I have a little ADD tendencies.
:-(
/pat There, there. You're not the only looking out for a new CM, but I'm back to using BakedSnack (2.2) and the Mannup Theme. Very Hot.
I'm also tired of flashing ROMs, lol, so I'm thinking to stick to BS for a while and just grab theme updates.
And until there's a rooted, stock froyo tomorrow sometime, that's gonna seem like a long time too.
Why? There's nothing wrong with the current one unless you really need 4g.
Just start flashing the nightly's. Others have said its addicting like "crack".
The only crack I'm into is the non smoking kind and i haven't even been into that as much since I started flashing. Maybe I need help. Wait, let me ask my wife

It is like crack. I wake up every morning, download the new CM6 nightly and flash it while getting ready for work. It's a sad sad existence. lol
i was there once myself, until my homerun battle 3d backup got corrupted
nightlies are now a part of my daily routine. btw, anyone know why the nightly thread got locked?
probably got too big, someone should start a new one, I liked hearing everyone's impressions of the various nightlies. I'm holding off on CM6 until a2sd is brought back in. I don't have enough apps that allow sd storage in froyo so I need it.
I have to sell 3 of my G1 androids. I want to flash nice looking, feature filled ROM’s to them. But, NO (few) COMPROMISES, everything should work as least as well as as doughnut. Minimal bugs, reasonably fast very GOOD battery life, WIFI, BT, responsiveness, stable GAPP’s etc,. Xtras. Tethering, good looks, multitasking etc would be nice.
It should be idiot proof. I don’t want anybody coming back ro me wining after sold.
Please, all suggestions welcome, VOTE.
Regards, PK
BTW: I Personally try anything on my own phones, all sorts of test runs, betas, RC’s, etc with bugs galore, but I would not want to sell them that way.
CM5.x
You are paying us for helping you, right?
http://chromatic.r00t.la/ download 3.9.1.1. stable, nice looking eclair rom. i personally used this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622613
this is another eclair rom. it's also stable and fast.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688262
this is pretty much the "stock" eclair. it's stable and has an amazing battery life.
have fun raking in the money :]

you said CM5.x and now you want money?!
ok now to the topic:
i suggest you the Chromatic 3.9.1.1. i use it for 2 - 3 months and im very satisfied.
everything works. Multitasking, Tethering, Fast(and stays fast), nice looking (black/red look)
and so on, well there are no compromises as far as i know, cuz everything works. it´s Éclair, stable Gapps.
well, everything you mentioned.
but you have to set the colour of the clock, date, notifications by yourself in spare parts.
activate compcache and set the cpu to 614 - 412(or something similiar) and ondemand, then you´re good to go.
there are newer builds from chromatc, 4.+ but they´re froyo, and i personally don't like them, they´re feelin sluggy..

Why would he pay us...
You could put a hero rom(preferably ZX) on one and the other two could have eclair(preferably SuperE).
You should have either put this in general disscusion or Q&A. Next time bud, k?
@Aboves the only reason why I wouldn't suggest froyo yet is because it's still in RC.
to add on to installing the 3.9.1.1. chromatic, i'd recommend these settings:
install pershoot's latest kernel http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=958
install setcpu, set profiles. more details can be found in chromersmith's thread.
install latest adw launcher. http://jbthemes.com/anderweb/
if you have a class 6 sd card included in the phones, enable 32mb of swap with 40 swappiness. if not, enable compcache.
check lock home app in memory, disable extra settings [gps, 3g, etc] for an increase of battery life.
make sure you do a full wipe/partition sd card using the latest version of recovery. [or do "fastboot erase system -w" too just to be safe]
Thanks All!
Looks like the éclairs win and I have some digging around for the right one(s). Probably chromatic xx.x but if I have time it will be fun flashing some of the others.
Thanks Again, PK
Sorry I posted here instead of general,
hey come and try out our roms.. my latest rom is posted androidmobsquad 0.3.2 with gapps come download it and try it out.
developer.htc.com/adp.html
That would be an appropriate, stable, OEM ROM for those devices.
Dudes Cupcake. http://code.google.com/p/thedudescupcake/
I considered a cupcake, certainly would be bulletproof I think. and not freak anybody. I Liked these phones when I got them because the interface seemed so simple and slippery. Might give it a try.
I wonder if they will work with Danger spl (and Amon and the latest radio)
Regards, Pk
Just put Enom's offical on the G1, its faster than any 2.1,2.1,1.6 rom out there....Plus it doesnt req OC over 384 to be fast....While the phone has to be at like 5XX+ just to run a froyo/eclair rom...I can run TheOffical fine at 128/384.
you could also put a froyo ROM in there, anyway you don't have to be a rocket scientist to wipe all the data an flash a new ROM... especially if the phone is already rooted and has the amon ra recovery...
The software support is what keeps this old phone alive.
Thanks, I’m using CM froyo 6 RC0 and RC3 myself. I like RC0 is pretty stable but a little hard on batteries, RC3 is hell on batteries, kinda buggy and a little tricky to get gapps to work. I think froyo is just to un-vetted.
I agree it's not rocket science to wipe and flash but it may be for joe-ebay and I really want to say goodbye forever to these things rather than walk someone through re-flash or getting gripes about battery life.
Regards, PK

That's why you need to put a STABLE 1.6/2.1 on the phone....
What "IF" there's a problem and they aren't tech savy? Then what if they want a refund cause they cant figure out the problem...What if there's a constant amount of fc's? Better safe than sorry

I hate to go backwards an and maybe primitive, not much fun but, it's not for me is it. I have to say these things all came completely stock and the interface was downright slippery compared to much else.
I hope there's information about downgrading-spl,radio,, etc.

Thanks,
No, actually they are all rooted, have danger-SPL, the latest radio and some version of CM.

I was using CM7 since it first released but now with the school started and im plannig to actually attend some classes, i wont have time to try all the nightlies. Since i dont really have time to test all sense roms out there, i would appreciate some feedback from who used couple of these roms.
ps: i dont want transparant pulldown. it somehow annoys me.

if you don't want to try all the nightlies, than stick to the nightly you think is stable enough for you >_>
i've only tried wildpuzzle and it was awesome. and theres a patch so it removes the transparent pulldown (unless it isnt already not transparent).
and how will class affect flashing a new nightly, it only takes a few minutes to dl, and less than 30 seconds to update/flash to a new nightly lol.
Agreed with kevin. Stick to the nightly that suits you. Its certainly no necessity to get every nightly. (Personally switched from 2 to 15 to 50).
Anyway, back on topic I have only used Wildpuzzle, and I wont have any 2nd thoughts before recommending it.

i dont think you are getting my point, its not really about time. i dont want any more distractions as i already have alot. on CM7 , im always trying things themes nightlies and stuff. in between i always back-up and restore. i will almost regret buying a phone with android os. so many options
I tested nearly every ROM, and i think DK Custom is the best. Its running verry smooth and fast. You can remove the transparent pulldown with the Stock Framework patch from Wildpuzzle.
I would agree with kevin and say stick to the nightly that is best for you and also the most stable...you don't have to play around with it...just find a theme that you like and stick with it
if you really want a sense ROM then go with DK...I used it for a while and it was pretty good
Any info out there yet and latest cm9-cm10 build with safestrap /bootstrap

Me Too!
I ran a CM9 Rom for a couple weeks. Kinda neat, but not ready at all.
It kinda made me realize that I wish everybody with these mad skills would just go ahead and focus on JB.
The Milestone guys seem to be making pretty good progress on CM10. Makes me a bit jealous.
Of course, I'm just a leach...
Any hope for sooner than 2013, if any at all?
Thanks,
-KP
If you are looking for a stable CM9 ROM you might wanna check out rootzwiki.
This ROM is very stable and I have no trouble with it - http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18697-cyanogenmod-9-unofficialbeta-819/

That's the one I ran for 10 days or so. I had to bail out.
My phone ran slower, I missed the camera functioning properly (mine didn't work at all), "Clock" kept crashing, causing missed alarms and burnt pizza and I'm pretty sure Phone Mute didn't work. Plus the screen sensitivity wasn't nearly as good.
The saddest part was my nandroid backup failed md5 check going back to my well dialed in CM7 7.2.0 that I really had no problem with and I liked how well everything worked. I had to reinstall and start restoring from TB.
Maybe I'll try it again...
-KP
Strange that you had those issues. The only persistant one I've seen is the keyboard backlight being on all the time with Autobrightness, not being able to change the values, and the mute problem.
I was actually very impressed with the camera as the pictures are fine and Paper Camera works, which it did not on MIUI V4.
Guess we'll see what happens but my and other's suggestion to the devs on Rootz was just to focus on getting the current ICS Roms perfected rather than messing with JB and having to start from scratch knowing all the hardware issues that they are going to encounter. As I said there we have fully functioning Google Now, so the only benefit we might see would be Project Butter implementation and I don't think that's work the headaches.
Either ICS or JB is fine with me. Like I have some say in the matter...
But it seems like the appearance of the JB rom for the Milestone would mean that getting JB going on the D2 would follow along more simply.
Of course, CM7 runs really well on my phone. Angry Birds loads up quickly. My daughter plays Temple Run and doesn't complain about issues. I get some goofiness with the touchscreen while the charger is connected, but my D1 did that too.
In the 10 days I ran CM9, I got used to a couple ICS features that might have been better, but not that much. That I noticed anyway.
Bottom line, for me, is that if CM7 is as far as it goes, I have a good phone that I can roll down to my daughter later. But if ICS or JB worked really well, then all the fanboys I have to deal with would have to shut up...
Did I put all that in the right thread? Things are swirling together...

Sorry for being terrible at doing this, but can someone tell me the best cm9 download and/or give me detailed instructions of how to flash?
