Flash a non Retail Omnia 7 - Omnia 7 General

Hi all
Due to my job, i've a non retail version of the Samsung Omia 7
When i've tried to use chevron updater, the phone freeze on the samsung's bootlogo.
I can't Access tu the "recover" mode, can't go further than the boot logo.
So i wanted to Flash the rom, but when i used th I8700 XEN I8700XENJK1 Rom
i've the error message: "this devise is NOT Retail..."
i tried to use the "I8700XXJJ4" Rom, but when i want to flash i've got an error message from WP7 Downloader: "This binary is not retail binary"
So i'm blocked.
i can't update from 7390 to 7392
help me please

Simple
You have first to unlock the device.
I did it with this site
http://www.modaco.com/

Mine is a non retail as well and dev unlocked. But I cant upgrade anything, it just says non retail device when using update tool.
Now im stuck on download mode...

Guys sry for the bump, but i'm stuck and need your help..
I got my NON - RETAIL phone bricked, I can enter download mode but can not flash it to the NON - RETAIL FW I8700XXJJ4 because the WP7 Downloader does not accept the binary.
How can i flash my Omnia 7 then? What downloader to use?
I raped the search button and Google, so frustrated

I had the exact the same problem, and got help from a more skilled person then myself
Here is what he did:
*A few patches via the Samsung update tool changed the phone to WP-Product instead of WP_ENGINEER
*Flashed in the XENJK1 ROM
*Updated to Mango

Can you please give me some more details on this? Is the person from this forum?
What patches? How to change it to WP-Product?
Thanks

1. Downloaded the WP_ENGINEER I8700XXJJ4
2. Downloaded the WP7 DOWNLOADER ALL DEVICE (PUBLISH VERSION)
But I get a lot of errors and the flashing is not going further :/

hi
i'm still have the problem, no more recovery mode since the last update i've done.
So i'm waiting for a RMA from samsung to send back my phone...

Same problem here,
Have Omnia 7, wp7 Downloader prompt error :
This Device is not Retail Device
Downloader will not do anything
How to fix this ?
Thank you in advance

So I figured a way out how to flash the non retail omnias, but unfortunately it's not working as i hoped it would..
There are two ways to flash it, the first is that one that the user montana said, but he is not responding anymore so that's no help
The second one is to download a DOWNLOADER for all devices, i uploaded it here:
mediafire.com/?r7fll36wxooywbk
Then you use the non retail ROM I8700XXJJ4
dl.dropbox.com/u/5011238/Data/I8700XXJJ4.7z
Then you enter the download mode and flash the device... but the thing is not working with my omnia 7... some errors pop up

Hi guys,
The software "wp7 downloader for all version" work perfectly with the indicated ROM.
No errors occured during the Flashing operation, but now, how to get back to an old ROM like 7004, i wan to make permanent unlock on this phone and Chevron don't work
Merci

Ok, can you now write what you did?
Because the same thing is not working on my Omnia 7, I get the next thing:
\i8700xxjj4\i8700xxjj4\pda_i8700xxjj4_sec.nb0
Open CSC image at : c:\users\syzygy\desktop\i8700xxjj4\i8700xxjj4\csc_i8700dtmjj6.csc

Hi my friend,
Sorry i did not copy the result, but i know that i had no errors like you
The line ERROR[Channel 0] Write MIBIB Data Fail!!! did't appear for me
The little thing i can say is about the camera button, now it is playing the role of volume up, the volume up button is volume down action and the volume down is free button
Confused my friend.
For inormation i used the \i8700XXJJ3_Rev01.bin

I tried with:
CSC_I8700DTMJJ6
EBOOT_I8700XXJJ4_CO03_REV01_sec
i8700XXJJ3_Rev01
PDA_I8700XXJJ4_sec
and with
CSC_I8700DTMJJ6
EBOOT_I8700XXJJ4_CO03_REV02_sec
i8700XXJJ3_Rev02
PDA_I8700XXJJ4_sec
But the results are the same
The line ERROR[Channel 0] Write MIBIB Data Fail!!!

Sorry for you
I just finished an update to 7392
Everything is good now, have just to check if my permanent unlock is already working
Regards

Can you please give me some more details?
I will try to reinstal the USB drivers, but nothing more that i can think of can help..

[Q] Problems with flashing new firmware on Samsung I8700 Omnia 7

I can't seem to get my Omnia 7 to communicate with Win7 via USB cable in Download Mode. I use Win7 Pro x64.
I've installed:
I8700_Samsung_Mobile_USB_Driver(V5.2)_V1.2.1050.0
I run:
I8700_WP7_Downloader_Ver_7.03_For_Retail_Device_(Product_Force_Select)_
I've even tried uninstalling all Samsung USB drivers, reinstalling them and restarting my system, but I still can't get it to work.
When I start the WP7 Downloader, it says "MD5 Confirm Process: Cannot Image File Please Try Again!" in a dialog named "Confirm MD5 Value". What is that all about? There are no MD5 files in the firmware package that I've downloaded (I8700XXJJ4). If I click "Close", the application dialog opens, but I get no connection to the phone via a COM port.
What am I doing wrong?
[UPDATE!]
I got my Omnia 7 to connect by starting up the WP7 Downloader BEFORE I rebooted the phone into Download Mode. However, I'm still getting the "MD5 Confirm Process: Cannot Image File Please Try Again!" in a dialog named "Confirm MD5 Value". Please help!
Please post in the proper forums. If you have an issue related specifically to that device, please post it there. This is for WP7 development as a whole, and device specific problems go in their proper forums and subsections.
~~Tito~~
To flash, you have to start WP7 Downloader before you plug your Omnia 7 in download mode. And then you'll see a new COM port. (h**p://pdaphoneaddict.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=133&t=21328])
Be carefull : the XXJJ4 firmware seems not to work. It's not a valid binary retail file whereas the DTMJJ6 works fine. I'll flash my Omnia 7 one week ago. (]h**p://pdaphoneaddict.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=133&t=21326]) The DTMJJ6 is a T-Online branded ROM.
My Omnia 7 is a French Orange branded device and with the DTMJJ6, some features don't work anymore as data transfert without WiFi. It's the reason why I advise you to wait an other ROM. In my case I'm waiting for a dump of the original ROM or a new I8700XX.. files but still nothing...
firmware
where did you get the firmware or update, is it possible to get firmwares for other phones like the focus,
Please,
i have I8700XXJJ6 WITH CSC TMUJJ6, the phone is locked to T-mobile UK, and i'm downloading DTMJJ6, will this rom work, if yes, will the phone be unlocked ?
Thanks,
B.R.
It won't be unlocked with the new ROM...
Why do you want to change your JJ6 ROM for an other JJ6 one ?

The new ROM feels snappier due to the better 3g/wireless speeds and gets rid of the horrible tmobile branded IE and searches.
Over all definitely worth trying.
So it's the JK1 which is needed, not the JJ6.

I'm having the same issue, but as far as i know, this problem is related due a replacement of the original download (yellow triangle warning screen) mode by a 'recover mode' (picture of an windows branded phone connecting to a pc).
Is there any other way to set the correct download mode besides using that jig device?
I got some response from the software setting 'Modem, USB Diag.' on the micro USB Test. When I did this, the phone was detected by WP7 Downloader, but the phone was in the wp7 home screen and not in download mode (I chose not try anything).
My Omnia 7 is an unlocked device using SFR branding (JJ6, that october one).

DanMaxis,
There might be a way without a jig. In principal you could try updating right through to nodo which would give you the new Bootloader that allows flashing.
What you have to do is "unbrand" your phone with the Samsung unbrand xap which can be found in the wp7 developer forum. (First or second page)
Of course you need to apply the chevron unlock for it.
After having done that you will be able to receive the pre Nodo update and then the Nodo update with the "cut connection after 4 seconds" trick.
After these updates are installed your bootloader should be the new one. This will in theory enable you to reflash a different rom onto it.
In theory... because I havent tried yet.
I encounter an error on my Omnia 7 that it timed out after the first update. This is a common issue among Samsung users (as has been reported all across the web) and the only way to fix it is to hard reset the phone.
Hi!
I updated my device (Omnia 7) to Nodo with the Chevron Tool but the Firmware (2424.10.10.6) and the bootloader (4.10.1.9) are still the same...
There's no new firmware yet?
With this bootloader I can't access to the downlaod mode... the jig is the only way?
Thank you very much!!!
I don't think the MD5 error relates to phone communication - I got this when I tried to open the update file from within a compressed folder - you have to extract the file that is downloaded to another folder then open it through the update tool. You'll also get an MD5 error if you enter the wrong password for the file.
The Control at the bottom left of the update tool window tells you if the phone is connected or not and is separate to actually opening the update files (turns green and says which Comm port the phone is on if the phone is connected properly).
Hope this helps.

If it fails when flashing the new NAND layout, you are screwed and if you can't make sad eyes and get a warranty replacement, you're gonna have to use JTAG to recover the NAND. The JTAG pins are rather easy to access, right below the battery sticker. Then you need some piece of hardware (RIFF Box, that Samsung JTAG tool, ...) and some software (comes with the JTAG hardware) and flash the NAND directly.

[Q] Omnia7 flash- MBIB failed

Hello Guys, I'd like to talk to you about my Omnia7.
I just got it from one guy on a very famous auction website and yeah... it is a brick... lucky me
Since there ain't much chance of getting my money back I am now trying to get it to work by flashing the firmware.
State of the mobile is as follows. If you start it, you can see the omnia 7 boot logo and nothing else happens. The Boot into download mode works but idk if that helps since when I am trying to flash the little phone it gets the following output:
[...]
[Channel 0] Erase MIBIB Region
[Channel 0] Write MIBIB Data
ERROR[Channel 0] Write MIBIB Data Fail!!!
[Channel 0] FLASH LOCK
[...]
So does anyone know what to do in this case? Is it completely bricked or is there some workaround?
FYI: I tried this on one laptop and one pc on several different usb ports and with different firmwares: (I8700_XEN_I8700XENJK1,
I8700XXKH5 )
Could it be the wrong firmware? It's most likely an Austrian/German phone from 3mobile maybe!?
Does anyone know what MIBIB means? Or what it represents? I searched the web already for several hours... thanks a lot in advance!
Cheers,
the dlihc
Now I've tried another image and it went past the MIBIB but then a dspl1 error appeared. The display showed a one centimeter long green bar at the left bottom of the display and I (as stupid as I might be) unplugged it and took the battery out since it didn't respond anymore on the IO button. So now the phone won't boot at all. Any suggestions? Would the resistor trick help?
Thanks in advance,
dlihc
You can try the resistor method, but I doubt it.
Unless you can RMA the phone, you can go probably with just only JTAG left. If you donate the phone to community, we can work on HardSPL

Please help! accidentally sent 1.4 HW oem cab to 1.3 HW Focus

I was using Cab sender to send mango updates and there were also oem updates.
I did not have an idea and downloaded both. Used Cab sender and sent both now Focus is stuck on Samsung logo continuously rebooting. Tried the retail 1.3 AT&T Rom but no result.
Any help would be appreciated!
LOL... yeah I just did the same stupid thing. And I know better too...
so any body know how to unbrick from the Samsung boot loop? Just before it reboots I can see the Format screen flash in a slit second, but can't keep it there. I can get the phone to stay at in Download Mode though, but it does nothing.
I don't know if it would make any difference, but have you tried to flash magldr and a custom rom? Maybe that would break the cycle? Or, use the WP Support Tool? Not sure about any of these, just thinkng out loud what I would try...
I've tried every ROM I can get my hands on and nothing. The only one that seems to do anything other than say that its the wrong device, is the 1.4 ROM, and that reports a partiton issue, asks to redo it and download all, then fails with an app crash.
I cant get mgldr or WP Update Tool to work because the only ,ode I can get the phone into is Download Mode.
Any other ideas?

Maybe find the 7004 Rom, download that, and start over. I got my 1.3 stuck in the download mode, and IIRC, that's how I fixed it.

I was going to say, Download Mode is exactly where you want to be... Be sure you have the Samsung Drivers installed, then flash a ROM.
I'm still not sure this will work, but again, it's what I would try. I'm half tempted to send the 1.4 to my phone and brick it, then bring it back, but if it's not doable, I'd hate to be be bricked with no return.

When in Download mode, you are unable to use WP Support Tool? Or, mgldr? Maybe check again that you have the drivers installed.
I'm finding it disturbingly fascinating that this has happened. On most other devices I've owned and tinkered with, if I can get to some kind of boot or access the basic i/o, I could recover. This is the first one that's really giving me fits... Shame the WP Update used in the cab sender doesn't have a check in place to avoid installing the incorrect version. Or that the cabs could be used to extrac a CSC bin file usable with WP Downloader. Thank you Samsung and/or Microsoft for making it easy for us....
Now on to where I'm at in this endeavor:

Yeah... Ive tried every single combo of firmware/WP7 Downloader. When trying to push a 1.3 Firmware, I get "This Device is NOT a retail device. Downloader will NOT do anything." In the log I see:
[Channel 0] Confirm Model Name
[Channel 0] Locked
The process then fails. The phone then starts rebooting over and over again until I set it back to DL Mode. I cannot get it into Format Mode.
This happens with all ATT and Euro ROM I've tried, as well with an engineering ROM I picked up along the way. Doesn't matter in which version of WP Downloader I tried (.03, .05 & .21)
When using a 1.4 based firmware (4k) I actually get something different: "Partition information is not equal. Do you erase Nand and Download ALL?". I select "OK" and the following comes up in the log:
[Channel 0] Confirm Model Name
[Channel 0] FLASH UNLOCK
[Channel 0] FLASH UNLOCK Success!!!
[Channel 0] Send Partition Table
[Channel 0] Please select All image and Try again
[Channel 0] FLASH LOCK
Like before, this fails, and the phone starts rebooting over and over again.

Since the only mode I can get into is "Download Mode" and not Zune Update Mode, the WP Support Tool does not see my phone.
mgldr sees my phone, I'm prompted to select either Focus or Omnia attempts to install, but fails as well:
Selecting the Focus picture:
[Error Description]:
Device detection failed
[Info]: USBWorkDMLI_SAM.cpp (327)
[Error Description]:
Check device failed 3
[Info]: USBWorkDMLI_SAM.cpp (259)
Selecting the Omnia picture:
[Error Description]:
Device model unknown, can't continue.
[Info]: USBWorkDMLI_SAM.cpp (314)
[Error Description]:
Impossible! Omnia 7 can't be 4K! You had choosed wrong device
[Info]: USBWorkDMLI_SAM.cpp (149)
So mgldr definitely sees my phone as a 4K (1.4) device.
Anyone have any other ideas? Unless someone can think of anything else, my last resort might be to buy a usb jig, burn some incense and dance around the room before connecting the jig and giving it a try.
Got a tip on the Cab Sender to try WP7 Downloader v7.41. didn't work. Looks like its time to buy a USB jig...
From my other post....
Thanks for the heads up on .41. I found a copy and gave it shot. Got further along... But just as it unlocks and starts to rewrite the partition table, the app crashes. Nothing happens on the phone.
There's only one version of magldr for Samsung Focus... Unless there's another one I didn't see in the Rainbow Loader thread.

Been there done that, didn't work.
With the .41 version, I was actually able to get a little further, but only AFTER I also installed the "Windows Mobile Device Center" and the "Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update" package for x64.
With these new drivers installed, the .41 version was the only Updater that would actually see the device properly. I started a rewrite of the bootloader... and it hung halfway through. Big fat red "FAIL". I let it sit for a couple of hours, but nothing continued along.
I had to pull the battery to get the phone to turn off. That was the last time I saw the phone turned on. It's real brick now, will not power on.
Think a jig will get it out of its slumber?
Wonder how much I'll get if I sold it for parts...
Might be time to get me that Galaxy Note i keep drooling over...

How many computers have you guys tried this on? If the answer is one, try again.
2 laptops actually, i did the same thing as the one who opened this thread...
Is this totally lost?
I have a cable ready for the jig thing but still looking for the resistor. Will that help?
Mine was a lost cause....
Bought a jig from eBay... nada.... won't turn on.
Thought it may be the batter... so when and bought an extern charger and then tried again... nothing.
Tested jig on the only other phone I could... AT&T Galaxy Note.. it jumped to life and took it to download mode, no problems. So the jig works.
Mah Focus is da brick...

3 here... two laptops and an old Dell Desktop that's rock solid. It was there that I got the best results... and was able to actually flash something on what by then was an unflashable device (1.3 device with a 1.4 bootloader). I was able to overwrite some of the bootloader when both the phone an flashing app both locked up.
The WP7 Downloader Ver 7.41 was failing when the program was ready to start:
SPH-i350 Downloader has stopped working...
I got to trick the program by unplugging the usb changing the ports (My HP has 3 ports), and using the 7004 from this guy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25668230&postcount=181 the phone started copying

Phone turns off and then... its dead :crying:
My phone is now totally dead, it just wont turn on (didn't restarted, didn't finish the rebuild). I have the home made usb jig here but I don't have the 1k resistor jet, just 3 100k and it doesn't do anything.
What to do now? Game over?
Say it ain't so!

Say it ain't so! Anybody have a solution?!
I don't have much hope at this point, my 1 year old Samsung Focus will almost surely end up a brick...
Thanks in advance...
I wonder if Odin would help? I've checked, and it appears that Odin will send the Phone portion of the ROM to the Focus. MAYBE that will get something going again? It may also brick the phone as others have done, which is precisely why I have not sent it to my phone that is still working. But if you have nothing to lose, it may be worth trying...

I tried using ODIN to send only the PHONE part of the rom(the .bin file) and it starts the process and then it says the result of the operation is failed. At least it doesn't crash like that other WP7 Downloader program...
The problem is that even ODIN only recognizes that one file from the original ROM. The other files from the ROM (CSC, etc.) seem to not be the correct file format for ODIN...
Also, maybe we should try to flash another ROM, not the original 7002 ROM...
Anyone else have success with ODIN?
Please share your experiences!

SAMSUNG Focus logo stuck

Hello,
I have a samsung focus, and used it for nearly 1 year with no problem at all. I updated it with 7.5 mango(7720 i belive it is), and worked perfectly until a few days ago when it restarted for the first time. After that, if I played a game and listen to the music in same time it kept restarting, until yesterday when I tried to view the map and restarted and wont boot the windows and it is stuck in a cicle of samsung logo appears and disappears. I cant format it and I onle access download mode.
Any thoughts?
Software problem or hardware?
Thanks,

Looks like a software issue. You need to flash one of the ROMs from here. Check first what revision your Focus is.
flash to stock rom or flash custom ROM

That looks like a bootloader problem.
If that didn't fix it... either ask for someone with more experience to help or you could go through warranty and say it happened when you updated.
Thank you for all your replies, nobody seems to know what happend to my phone, so I am going to send it to AT&T in the US. It's a bit unconvenient because I live in Europe but I have no other choice. I hope there will be no problem with my warranty.
Any solution? I cant send my phone to warranty.
