[Q] Who has wifi connection problems? Pol! - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

As a measurement for the percentage of people that have wifi connection issues with the Ideos X5. Vote; do you have a wifi connection problem?

I believe it depends what ROM you're running, I know B133 had a tonne of problems, Im on B137 and its fantastic.

Could you tell me how to update to B137? i might buy this phone, but i would like to know how to solve the wifi problem by updating to B137

Read the ultimate guide at Modaco, covers pretty much everything:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...om/341011/ultimate-guide-to-the-huawei-u8800/
Here is the B137 ROM:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...rom-for-the-huawei-u8800-with-online-kitchen/

I'm using B135 and i dont have wifi problems so far.

im using B136SP02 and i got lots of problems

I'm basically a noob in smartphones, but B136 is a custom ROM? because i believe you lose your warranty if you put a custom rom on your phone right? or is B136 an update from Huawei?

B136 is an official update

Wireless Speed
I've found that after the recent upgrade my wireless is *way* better.
The only problem I'm having is speed, I've run a speed test on my X5 compared to someone elses IDEOS U8150 (the smaller brother of the X5) from the same location and my wifi speed was less than half theirs.
I haven't had a chance to test this on another wifi access point yet, so it could be my particular wifi setup.

Yeah I havn't noticed any problems with the 137 (you can install the stock 137 without rooting it). But still the speed isn't great, tops out at 2,5Mbit/s (average 1Mbit/s up/down) near the router while a laptop gets a solid 16Mbit/s.

i have too wifi problems

Maybe the phone is the problem and not a specific version.. I've had wifi problems on all rom's (official or unofficial).. or it could be certain wifi encryption methods (WEP, WPA2), etc..
I Have WPA2 (AES) encryption

I have posted some solutions that may be able to resolve the problem. Please take a look at my post as follows:

p.s. Feel free to ask questions in my thread.
Cheers !

Today i try to root my phone and now the Wireless does not work at all.How can this happen?Any solution?

Now on oxygen no and 136 rom no problema :d

only with the last oxygen, my hifi is ok. even with stock rom I have wifi problems

Not me, u8800-51 =)

Trying to find stabil firmware for my brand new australian tab, can not make my mind yet...
Still looking stabil one and I don't want to upgrade my firmware every weeks for the new firmware add on.
Any advise??
Response for what it's worth
I'm not sure if I'm the one to advise you, but I have just flashed my Optus unlocked tab with Roto JMI v1. Being a noob, I must say that the instructions given worked a treat and the flash went perfectly.
Although it is early days, iot seems pretty good to me with an improvement in wifi which was fairly random previously, but I still have some testing to do on the GPS. Others on the developers forum seem to have no problem though.

For me I like the Modaco Roms and Kernal. His roms are great on my other android stuff as well.

Wifi seems to be solved for me with JMIv1.0. No dropouts. For the GPS you might try the FasterFix from this topic. That works great for me.
I prefer the Roto-roms above those of Modaco. The Roto's are most a kind of 'out of the box' roms, and can be used without doing some really tweaking like the Modaco's. But just try them both and compare the difference, feels and looks.
I have tried both and they are great compared to stock rom. Below is my conclusion(solely on my experince of flashing roms for 1 month now.
Roto
- easy to flash
- good speed
- clean wipe with minimal add ons so we are free to add what we want
Modoco
- flash can be difficult and need to poke around and do some mistakes first
- blazing speed, getting constant 1800+ in quadrant
- got everything working good in my asian gsm tab
- auto connect/disconnect between wifi and data which is good
- love the reboot option on power button

Thanks for the advice.
I have tried the GPS fix, but no luck, and I think the Wifi issue is much more to do with my router than Roto's great work. I think I'll try JMEv4 as I jumped straight to JMI.
I appreciate your help.

Well, I didn't go back to JME, I tried JMI v2 which has just been released by Rotohammer.
The short answer. for me, is that everything went smooth again, and is working well except for the GPS which just refuses to work.

Hi, can you tell howto do the EXT4 kernel step of Modoco ROM? I failed to flash the kernel all the way.
My current ROM is Roto JMI. Should I flash other ROM first?
Thanks.

[q] help hsdpa speed

First of all, good evening to you all and thanks for any explanations.
I have the following problem, until yesterday I installed the following Roma Android Revolution HD 5.1.9, kernel MDJ V22, radio and the respective RIL 04.11_M2 and my download maximum HSDPA coverage has never exceeded 3Mbps.
Today I installed the rom Dogma V3, V22, and keeping the kernel MDJ radio / ril 04.11_M2, suddenly my download is up to 6Mbps aumenteto ??????
I then rebuilt a complete wipe and reinstall another rom but nothing to do with all my rom is slow while HSDPA Dogma no!
Does anyone know give me an explanation on this?
Dhd I use often as a modem connected to your PC and the download speed is very important for me and I would also like to keep the Android Revolution HD
Sorry for my bad English manages school
Nobody knows anything ?????
I think it's a problem of any energy savings that reduce the performance
3g signal because I have also noticed that the rom Dogma also has a better signal reception and slightly more stable.
The problem is that with this rom difficult to arrive at night with my use while ARHD get there safely.
Not every ROM/RIL/Radio combination is compatible with all carriers, I think you are just unlucky that ARHD rom with its RIL/Radio combination doesn't suit your carrier.
I would suggest going to ARHD team IRC channel and see if they can help you, they are very helpful people.
But maybe that you cannot use that ROM with your carrier
I'm not sure if this helps but i've written a thread aboit hsdpa speed improvements a few months ago.
I don't have the link atm but search for "speed up data connection" here in the DHD general forum. I hope you find my thread with this keywords. If not, I'll search the link on my pc and post it here.

Edit: Here is the link to my thread for those who have the same problems

what rom can we use for 3g version ?

Hi there m8´s...
I have now edited this and added the answers to my questions...
Btw:
I have the 3G device...
And I am not using 3G or gsm at all...
Question:
Can i then without any problem use the "WiFi only" roms ??
Answer:
Yes, you can use the roms and kernals for the WiFi model (7510) on your 3g device (7500)...
You WILL loose 3g and gsm in the process...
- at least until you flash a 7500 kernal and ROM again...
Question:
Do i have to use the 3G versions for my device ??
Answer:
Only IF you use 3g or gsm, if not then go ahead and flash WiFi only on your device...
I think it should work.
I have seen a guy who accidentally (from my impressions) applied 3g only rom/kernel and that disabled 3g but i think the rest was ok.
I whould give it a try - if you have problems you can go back to the stock rom.
NEVER EVER take advise from people who just "think" they know. They are just guessing and really have no idea.
It is not recommend to flash any 3rd party ROM onto the Galaxy Tab 10. None of them are as stable or reliable as the stock ROM. It is recommended to avoid them.

Do as he says, never take his advise cause he thinks he knows something.
If you not caring about 3G support, I recommend checking out Tasks ROM, the last 5-6 pages talk about exactly what your looking for.

See the last few pages of that thread. ROM is running GREAT on my 3G tab, and is overclocked with pershoot kernel. Just follow my instructions exactly and be sure to flash the proper kernel if you wanna overclock!

If you're not using 3G, flashing the wifi only roms should work for you.
And I say thats no problem. You can simply use it without being afraid.
Just gonna lose 3G ability.

No problems with Wifi for me. Have you tried on different Routers/gateways?
Maybe you need to reboot your Router/Gateway...
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602193
For me, this Nordic ics is excellent!
The best network signal and excellent WiFi signal. Better then gb for sure.
Stock kernel. Reflashed through pc companion.

I had the same issue...
To fix it you have to select a fix channel on your router (not automatic selection).
After this, WiFi is working fine on my Arc...

New Softbank Rom: 369

Totally out of left field: dell released a new rom for softbank.
The changelog does not seem to state much.
Android 2.2.2
Build date: Jul 10, 2012
Build: 29579
Dell Stage 1.6
The rom is completely identical to 366 except for the following files:
<root>\boot.img
<root>\amss.mbn
<root>\dbl.mbn
<root>\dsp1.mbn
<root>\osbl.mbn
<root>\system\build.prop
<root>\system\app\quickoffice.apk
Out of all those, only boot.img seems to have changed more then just being resigned/trivial changes.
Dell normally holds a rom for 1 month to test before releasing, but the normal release date for a rom built in july would be mid/late august.
So for whatever reasons: they held it back for a month.
It also only includes a trivial amount of changes, so it's not much more then going though the motions of a release
I received the update SMS today and came here to check. Figured you would have some additional info on this.
Still Froyo? I guess I'm never getting a phone from Softbank again.
Blame Dell/Qisda's dell team/Softbank
The SPro's still on GB too.
The Lenovo LePad S2005 (ie the "Opus one") got ICS back in April.
I dont even know why they released 369, I cant tell if it even changed anything as far as softbank's changelog is concerned.

Official roms arnt custom roms, they cant simply release it and hope there's no serious issues. They have to have staff on hand to test for 3 weeks before releasing.
Even if they only changed like a dozen lines of code at best for it.

I currently sport the Dell official 360 rom and I was wondering if it was worth the bother of udating to this one? has anyone given it a go and does it work?
Any pointers would be appreciated! Also interested in whether it requires a complete reset or if it upgrades leaving data/apps in place? :fingers-crossed:

Well I took the plunge and generally I am pleased with the results. Wifi seems much more stable and most things work, although mms does not seem to be working at the moment. Also softbank does not come with a sms app pre-installed, instead they use their own combined messaging app which I have not tried yet. I installed an sms app from the market and it works ok, apart from mms

The MMS issue I was having was me being an idiot - I had run out of credit I have never used Wifi Hotspot. There is an app that comes rolled into this rom which seems to be for tethering but i have not used it. The WiFi in general is excellent and seem way more stable that any other ROM I've used to date (and I've used quite a few). I think it may be easier to look up a 3rd party (barnacle I think) tool to get the tethering working - but I know very little about this.

I've been using it for a while and generally all is good. It seems better on battery than the 360 rom, the WiFi seems more stable, though I do get the odd issue with it not connecting but far less than any other rom I've used. I do not use tethering and I know that is not present, but there are apps in the market to do this anyway. SuperUser.zip also happily rooted it with no issues. It does seem to be quicker than other Froyo roms too - so overall I'd say it's worth an upgrade. Be aware that the native messaging app will not work on it for some reason, but Handsent or Go SMS are just fine and dandy - unless you run out of credit (see earlier post by me)
If I had to stick to a single rom this would be the one. I am tempted to go for DSC and I've been told by the author that it can be flashed over this rom - so I may report back when 1.6 is rolled out fully and I've installed it to give a comparison.
I hope this helps!
I've looked and haven't found any links for what I'm looking for which is just the amss and dsp1 files to flash in fastboot... anybody got those uploaded anywhere? I hate to flash the entire ROM just to extract those two, but if I have to then I just have to... thanks guys for any help
