Ok I have an HTC G2 rooted on virtuous ROM.
For some reason my handcent has been very sluggish
And borderline DEAD lately.
I don't know exactly what's going on, I haven't done anything different now from any other time but its quite annoying.
I installed watch dog to see if maybe something was eating up all my CPU and I just got an alert today that MessageCS is exceeding the cpu threshold. Hopefull someone can help.

sheesh no one got any ideas or help?
Ah yes I posted about something similar in the Virtuous Unity thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15073041&postcount=884
With me it was something to do with syncing my HTC Sense account to the phone, and removing it from the Accounts & Sync list got rid of the issue.
whats odd is i do not have the HTC Sense account created.
look here:

this is how my accounts and sync options look.
maybe its the HTC facebook?
also, my handcent app seems to keep force closing and lagging heavily.
this could be another reason....
Yeah I'm not really sure what's causing your MessageCS process to hog the CPU. The process is normally associated with syncing with the SMS database so if you're not really syncing it with anything, you could just try freezing the process with AntTek App Manager Root or the paid version of Titanium.
Alternatively, it's possible that you have some kind of corruption in the SMS database. I might try something like backing up all the sms, and then wiping the database. If the SMS database is causing the problem, the MessageCS process shouldn't misbehave after the wipe.
After that, I'd try restoring my messages. Something like "SMS Backup and Restore" can do this, but it won't backup any MMS. I'm not sure if Handcent has this function, but GO SMS can backup both SMS and MMS I think.
Good luck.

Cingular 8125. I upgraded to the new Messaging Extreme package they have so I can stop going over my allowed SMS messages. I figure since it's unlimited and includes MMS messages I chould take advantage of it. Problem is that when I go to Messages on my phone, I no longer have an MMS Folder. I think I remember there being one and I think I remember deleting it for some reason way back when. It was like the account labeled *Text Messages. How do I get that account back without a Hard Reset. Is there a way to create it or add it back?
I do still have the MMS Configuration option in the Menu, just no account listed for MMS Messages in the accounts section. If I click on New Account, that is just for E-Mail Addresses. If there is a way to add it as an E-Mail Address, what User Name/Pass/Domain do I use. Hope this is a clear enough explanation. Pics below to kinda clarify.
TIA

I am not sure it will work but you can try this.
Go to http://www.molski.biz/ look under the latest ROM folder and download the MP-Shorcut-MMS1-Voice-CV-TMUS-060404 to "TO INSTALL THE MMS FOLDER ON THE WWE ROMS"
Try This!
I don't know if u have solved the problem, but of not give this a try.
tleader - That worked great. That's just what I was looking for.
imisim - I couldn't find the file you refered to but I see a lot of other tweaks and reg hacks I might have to try. Thanks for the link.
Edit - Found the ROM you mentioned but already got it with tleaders cab.
Thanks guys. This forums is great. I'll contribute as I can.
One more quick question that may be related. Still getting used to the MMS Messages via a PPC but likin 'em. Seems alot more difficult than on my ol Razr. The MMS Notification Icon (I assume that what it is) doesn't seem to want to go away after reading/deleting messages. See below. Is there a setting that I have wrong or is there a tweak to fix this "bug".
I have been having issues with the Phantom Voicemail issue on all the Cyanogen Mod roms.
I have tried changing the voicemail phone number through the My Carrier options, that did nothing. Tried clearing out the Dialer Storage, that did nothing.
I have spent roughly 3 hours trying to find a fix. Does anyone know of anything?
I use Google Voice, so the dual notification icons get annoying, not to mention the fact that this one doesn't disappear, and reappears if I reboot my phone, or go in and out of service.
If there is a file that I can remove to have it stop, and allow me to just use Google Voice, that would work great too, as of now, I just want the darn thing gone.
You have to download an app and black list it. There's a post around here somewhere. I'm on my phone so I can't find it. But look for Sprint's VVM. There's a link to the app in the OP.

The two apps I can think of are RedList, and SPC (Super Private Conversation). SPC is the bigger of the two apps (I think around 2-3mb?), but I don't think the free version of RedList lets you disable the notification icon (I could be wrong? Someone feel free to correct me).
Is there anything other then an application that can block the notification message?
Removing a file or changing a file perhaps?
No clue, though I'd wager it has to be done on the code level.
I don't think I've ever actually ran into this bug. I gather it notifies you of voicemails despite not actually having any? Odd.
It looks like this, with my phone number edited out.

No matter what the time it is, this was on first boot up. Then it "notified me" again, at 11:17 PM.
It's a known bug on Cyanogenmod...

Hello guys,
I found something strange in GingerDX ROM that I have marked in screenshot
Even this process can't be stopped more than 5mins. It starts itself.
In other CM7 ROMS there is no such process that is running in background.
AS written in second screenshot "kept for better speed", may be this is the process that also provide speed to system but also drain battery.
What do you think about it..??? Did anyone also found this..???

GingerDX v022 on Stock Kernel... NO SUCH PROCESS
"Running" shows ...
Maps, Settings, Maps, Android Weather, 3G Watchdog, DSPManager, Google Services, Android-Keyboard.
It's also not listed in the "All" tab, and I even can't find it with Titanium Backup.
Better investigate which app/mod spilled it into your ROM.
Hi,
I've recently been having an issue with Textplus consuming a lot of battery power on my Nexus 4 (pics attached at the end). I was on stock rooted 4.4.2 while having the issue, then installed CM11 on hells-core, hoping a reformat and reinstall during the process would fix the issue.
Is this normal for Textplus on 4.4.2? I'm definitely not using it more than other apps, but I do use it for both regular and free texts. It stays in the background, and I send texts a few times a day.
I'm also unable to mark regular texts in Textplus as read, and in my phone's settings the app can't be marked as the default SMS app. To mark texts as read I need to run hangouts.
I would like to continue using this app, but as it stands it doesn't seem worth it. Does anyone here have a similar issue with the app?

Looks like you need to get another similar app. Try sending an email to the developer and/or check their website to see if they have a support page.

Get app ops starter from the play store. In it turn off location for text plus

Thank you, I just sent them an email with the issue. Also @jd1639, I was thinking it had to do with location requests, I'll download that and let you know.
Beating my brain. I have noticed when I receive a lengthy text message it does not show the entire message. It gives me the option to "view all". I have searched the forums and the phone and can't seem to find an option to show the entire text. Is this just and At&t thing or Samsung?

Just an at&t thing need to download a different sms app
I'm with Rogers and I have the same issue.
I'm going to avoid the Samsung apps...seems like the best thing from the issues I'm having...
Thank you all for the quick replies ☺
Even though I have unlimited data I assume there is no way to her hd videos over text

Facebook app does it as well. Most people have it because Facebook forces it via mobile IF you want to message people..
Yaata
Textra
Pulse
Are all amazing texting apps!
Yaata is the most customizable...And my favorite - also has chat-heads, but Android O won't support chat-heads, as of now - But we still have about a year on that.
Textra is the easiest and looks GREAT, and it's been around for a long time (at least since my S3 days, probably longer). Maybe a little smoother than Yaata, but not as many options.
Pulse is new (ish), but seems to have great features.
Facebook messenger is my go to default for sms. Mostly because of the chat heads and integration with all my FB messages
If you use Google photo you can create a link to your video in Google photo then share the link on stock messaging app with a few simple key strokes . Simple for me since I don't need all the bells and whistles from other message apps, nor do I care to familiarize myself with a new message app.
