Has anyone else been experiencing this? It takes an hour for my to transfer 1 GB of data. The same folder took only a few minutes to transfer between my Droid and X2.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe it's a hardware problem?
16GB TF/Prime 1.4
Same problem here (Prime 1.4).
Does someone know how to have a faster usb connection (1h for 2Gb)

I just did a quick transfer speed test by copying a 286MB file
Copying to the internal storage took 25 seconds (transfer rate : 11.4MBps)
Copying to a class 2 , 8GB microSD card took 45 seconds (transfer rate : 6.35MBps)
At those speeds a 1Gig should not take much longer than 1min 30sec to the internal memory and 2min 41sec to a Class 2 micro SD card (which is like the slowest speed you can expect from a micro SD card these days), unless you are moving thousands of tiny files, in which case it will take longer, but even then I doubt it should take 1hr.
P.S: 16GB TF running stock 3.1, connected to a Windows 7 32bit laptop
was your dock battery low when you tried to do this? could explain why it took a while.
Or don't use the dock at all? I never tried transferring anything while docked, didn't seem like it would've worked, but I guess it does work.
I still don't have my dock :-(
I tried to remove AVG and made a reset but still same problem.
I will try tomorrow to install the Prime 1.5 maybe this will help
Thx
Or you can transfer via wifi. Lightning fast =)

Perhaps, if the folder had video files, you selected the option to transcode the video.

I only get 750KBps when copying files over wi-fi using ES File explorer; and I don't think you can expect anything above 1.0~2MBps when transferring from one wireless device to another wireless device on a wireless G network. That is still more than 10x slower than USB. What method are you using ??
Are you copying only one single big file or many smaller files..the speed normally drops significantly when copying huge amount of smaller files..
either way, one hour for 1Gb seems absurdly long....have you tried the stock rom?

I'm facing a weird problem for O2 xda neo. while the picture files are saving in storage card, the picture distorted. Not only the pictures but also the video files. But when the files are saving in the main memory every thing is fine. At first I thought it was the camera problem. But after cheking I find that this problem occuers when I want to save the files in my kingston 1 gb sd memry card.
Can an body tell, what might be the problem? and whats the solution? i got hte neo only before 2 months ago. and now i'm having this problem. Is there any tweak can be done as a solution or do i need to change the card?
i'm uploading one picture so you can unederstand the problem.
Did you try another storage card instead? If you did so,does the problem still exist?
Cheers
Do you have the standard budget Kingston SD Card?
At best performance it can only offer
- Up to 5MB/sec. read rate
- Up to 1.5MB/sec. write rate
it is a very slow card, maybe it is too slow for video and photographic performance.
I don't know the minimum standards required, but as I use SAT NAV a lot, I thought it would be better in the long run spending a couple of extra pounds on a high speed card.
As such everything I run on the card, runs great.
NewSPV,
which SD write speeds to you actually get on XDA ?
I observe about 10x worse speeds on XDA than laptop...

Hi
I don't know my actual speeds on the SPV, but I bought a card rated
- Up to 20MB/sec. read speed
- Up to 9MB/sec. write speed
I thought I would need a fast read speed in order for the SAT NAV to keep up with the car at high speeds.
As I said, I have no problems running anything on the card.
hello again,
one of my friend has XDA neo, I tried with his memory card and it was okey with the capturing picture. No prb. So I think it might be the prb with my card. I found that its not a SD card, rather its a miniSD of Kingston. Except for the pictures, all other operations are going fine. Yesterday I bought another 2GB SD card(this time no miniSD), and it works fine for the camera, saving the pictures.
Thanks for all yours reply, these help me to know the speed issue of cards.
Hey there!
It's come to my attention that my XDA Mini S is horrifically slow at saving office documents to the storage card... I bought a 2GB storage card recently that seems to be working fine, apart from this little issue.
It would take up to half a minute or more for example, to save a 47kb pocket word document. When I do the same editing with a file on the internal memory it can be near instantaneous. With Excel it's even worse!
I tested the read/write speed of the card and it came out with a read speed of about 7.0x and a write speed of... something like 0.02x??
That's horrifically slow! A friend's card scored 5x and 2x respectively. However writing to the card normally doesn't seem to be so sluggish either, using the PC (with MiniSD<>SD adaptor) or the phone itself.
Any ideas??
hi, so ive been experimenting with transfer speeds to the SD-CARD with my nexus one.
so far i managed :
2mb/sec using the stock USB cable, with eclair, same with froyo stock kernel.
via WiFi tether and connecting a laptop to it, transfering files via FTP server on the android device
1.5-2mb/sec on froyo tethering
using the wifi tether app on eclair, around 600kb/s (fail? or maybe some cyanogen issues)
i recently upgraded to a CLASS6 transcend 16gb sdcard
yet the results are the same.
i tried a few SD-CARD testing apps, all results were around 2mb/s
is this some sort of hardware/software limitation?
did anyone get passed 2mb/s?
in theory my card should reach 6mb/sec write speeds.
so im hoping we can share our experiances.. and maybe come to some conclusion on whats going on, and finally put these issues to rest.
So you're trying to do what? You're on cellular, wifi, tethered, SD card speeds.....
I don't get the point.
If you're wanting to benchmark your SD card, maybe this program? I haven't tried it yet, just finally thought about searching. http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/performance.test/
You say "mb" which isn't correct for anything (unless you really mean "millabit"). Do you mean megaBIT (Mb) or megaBYTE (MB) / sec ?
I just ran several tests from this Vista PC using ADB Push to the SD card (a 16GB Class 6), and I see 9-13 megabit/second or 1.1 - 1.3 megabyte/second rates, at file sizes from 10 to 25 MB.
This is a Vista work PC, running around 40 applications, Symantec AV and Firewall and all manner of other crap. If I think about it, I'll pound out a test from a real computer later.
lol Why are you people giving him such a hard time ?
He wants to figure out the fastest transfer speeds. Who gives a crap about Mb Mb MB or benchmarking his SD.
N1 transfer speeds are slow regardless of the SD card. Im not sure why.
I would like to know if file transfers over USB , or Wifi result in faster transfers.
I think the OP is wanting to do the same thing.
Using the Websharing or FTP via Efile sometimes gave me better results than USB.
lol yea be gentle guys. But yea I remember reading that it's always gonna be slower using USB and Phone, it's better to take your card out and use a reader. It's usually at least 2 times faster when I take my SD out and use a reader

Those are just a few of many more, I am sure.
But none of the the existing Nexus One SD card threads are worded like " Nexus one maximum transfer speed (using all methods)", so lets just add this one to the pile please.

Thanks for the post, regardless of the patronizing of others... I've wondered the same thing as I've only gotten 2mb/sec going through the USB mount in android. I thought something was wrong with my computer so I've tried both pc and mac with the same speeds. I thought it was my memory card so I plugged it directly into a card reader and got 4x's the speed...
My main reason for wanting this to be fixed or acknowledged is for sync'ing music through programs like Salling Media Sync. It seems to me a wifi alternative would be faster even at 802.11g if it's related to the USB interface... let me know what you find I'm curious...
My wife's transfer speed was 3.6 on the stock SD card...
I have a class 6 and speed is under 2
I try to switch cards later and see if my class 6 goes faster on her N1
I too have never seen faster than 2mbish, even when i upgraded from stock to a class 2 8gb, and then to a class 6 16GB
Hi,
since i have bought milestone 2 i have the similar problem... even now with the newest original rom
the downloading is interrupting almost every time, browser have never downloaded bigger file than approximate 20 mb and even opera mini doesnt work well with downloading
since i have got the fasterdownolader app it says me sometimes that the problem is system file read only (null)... or something like that, but i am downloading strictly on the sd card which is weird... so doesnt anybody know where could be the problem?
I have rooted rom with 1-click rooter
Sometimes it helps me to mount and umount sd card, but sometimes it doesnt.
The only app without downloading problems is dropbox
can i do something with the sd card to makes it work better? (for example)
I could be wrong but I believe it is more so to with with mobile internet in general being too unstable and some of the sources you download from don't work very well with it. This problem is most common with file sharing sites for myself, ones that don't support resuming downloads. Little bumps and resets in the connection (although you are not aware they happen) cause it to stall and then it simply wont resume. I've seen it happen on phones of friends etc, and even had it happen downloading over wireless hotspot on my laptop.
Some games with in app downloads will be very hard to download over my data connection and I only end up wasting nearly 1gb of my cap only to have 3 failed downloads halfway through, then it is seemless on wifi when I get home.
If you need a good download test side ... I always use the new release of ubuntu ... http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/11.10/release/
And if you want to make sure it is not your mobile internet connection ... did you have the same problem with WLAN and downloads?
Just some ideas ... maybe it helps!
Thank you both for help
Finally I have got the answer, my main problem is SD card bigger than 8 GB
Since i have the 16 gb' card I have problems with reading and writing data on it
Mount and Unmount card is my daily routine, because even MortPlayer has a problem to play a music sometimes
Have you read this post?

I have and it did solve my problem I forgot to note it here
but thank you very much, it is sometimes hard to be a muggle and to find a solution only by yourself
Even with newest gingerbread my new 16 gb's sd card freezes repeatedly...
but to replace the dll's did helped me (hopefully)
so here it goes

Hello everyone. I am having a problem with my Turbo 2. I am hoping someone here can give me some ideas or options to resolve this. Ok so recently my turbo 2 won't take a charge via the charging port. I have been using my wireless charger to keep it going and that's a small nightmare unto it's self. The rate at which it charges is beyond slow. So with my phone being under warranty still Verizon is going to replace at no charge. Here is my delima. When I got the phone I put in a 64 gig sd card and then integrated it into the internal memory.. from what I understand though is that the card is now only good inside my turbo and that if I try to use elsewhere I won't be able to read the data. I have a **** ton of my KLWP, KWGT, (wallpaper and widgets ) Zooper, and about 35 gigs worth of my other theming apps, data, icon packs , apk's , music ,pictures and wallpapers. You name it I've got it all ( you might say I like to theme my phone. Just a little). With the charging port broken and the card intergrated into the internal memory how do I get that data off the card without using wifi as my wifi is broken at momenrt.
Thanks in advance.
If your droid WiFi works then try xender app from play store and transfer your data to other device (phone,pc,etc..) you don't need router , xender uses WiFi direct thing between two devices connection, hope this helps , good luck
