ok so i was on 2.1 or 2.2 or something and I had pageplus working great but wanted gingerbred and then I rooted the droid x 2.3.3 using this method http://www.droid-life.com/2011/03/29/how-to-root-gingerbread-on-droid-x/ and ahh no no pageplus. How do I fix this?
**Updated**
First off, That was the same move I made... and I regretted it BIG TIME. This is because that is the very very first leaked version of gingerbread which no one supports anymore.
So this is basically what you'll have to do:
1) SBF back to Froyo
2) Upgrade to the offical .956 (rooted) Version of Gingerbread.
Now I know you are like: Who the F**K do I do that? (Probably)
Here is how you Do it

I recently acquired a gorgeous red HTC Wildfire. My pride and joy. However I recently updated it but THEN I discovered rooting on xda!
Now my problem is this;
How do I downgrade from 2.3.3 and although I just updated and believe it is 2.3.3 it says Android Version 2.2.1 at the about screen.
How do I rectify this?
i'm pretty sure you just updated to 2.2.1 (which is froyo), htc hasn't provided a gingerbread update for the wildfire lol. and if you did do the official update, you can't root.

you can downgrade it, but you have to get your device S-OFF first, check here some one can offer you this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939801
I just recently picked up a dell streak. It's brand new with what I'm guessing it the latest shipped rom which is build number 15274 running android version 2.2.2
All I see is custom roms and reflashing back to other roms to root....blah blah blah...is there a way to just root my current rom and not have to flash a completely new one? I'm all for supporting the community, I'd just like to keep this as device as clean as possible and remove all the bloatware.

Download SuperOneClick v1.5.5 and root away. Dont forget to put your phone into USB debugging mode before rooting, its very important that you do that. Or just follow the steps in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925853 good luck.
Wow thanks, I totally skipped over that post!!! I guess from what I was reading I was expecting the whole process to be a lot more complicated.
Thanks a ton!
Anytime.

How come Dell don't push out the 2.2.2 version OTA to their customers?
I check for updates every day, but have just once received any. (2.2)
Their way of saying; "we just don't give a f*ck about our customers"?
You should have gotten that update weeks ago. It's been OTA for probably about a month now. And I don't know how much you've read, but a lot of what happened with not updating from 1.6 was probably AT&T's fault because they wouldn't okay the build (speculated). Dell had the source up for 2.2 for a long time, if I remember correctly.
I'm on unlocked stock EU ROM since day one. Just to clarify.
Do you mean the 2.2.2 was shipped OTA, for EU users too?
Ohhh. Didn't notice you were on EU. I don't know if Dell released one for EU yet (probably hasn't since you don't have the option to OTA). Just remember that it's not just the phone maker responsible for updates, the carrier has some say in it, too. Are you still on 1.6? Because you could always try out DJ Steve's ROM if you wanted to try something different.
No, the one OTA update I received, was the 1.6 --> 2.2 on last October.
Since then - nothing. I guess it's only in America people get the 2.2.2.
Thanx for taking time to reply.
No problem, haha. I hope you get it soon
I really want the update to, I'm in the Uk and I'm still on 2.2, I would do it myself but its just to complicated and don't wanna mess up my phone. Has anyone in the Uk got the 2.2.2 upgrade? And to be honest I really wont the 2.3 upgrade, but seeing as we still don't have the 2.2.2 upgrade, I think we'll be waiting a long time :'(
2.2.2?
If someone updated from 1.6, to the "non official" 2.2, is there any difference between it and 2.2.2?
2.2.2 is supposedly immune to the malware loaded from the 50 or so infested apps that Google removed recently from the market.
So I rooted my Droid 2 about a month ago with z4 mod and yesterday the update to gingerbread came out and I installed it. I dont have root permissions anymore with the gingerbread update. I tried rooting it again with z4 mod, but it won't work. please help
Z4 does not work on the new Gingerbread.
Use http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/ instead. It was created for Droid 3 but works on nearly any Moto phone.
UK retail Milestone 2 available to update 2.3 yet?
which SBF should we use?
For UK GB SBF look at there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19853860&postcount=341
But it's not possible to downgrade back to Froyo or to custom rom, you have been warned - now it is your choice

it's possible for you to change to other EURO 2.3.4. but impossible for stock froyo or any other custom rom (cm7/miui).
Concerning downgrade, we should try the procedure found by Defy owners.
They already had this downgrade problem (when they moved from Eclair to Froyo), and found a way to do it with a nandroid+sbf flashing. It should probabily work for us as well...
Take a look in defy section on xda, I'm a bit on a hurry and can't search for you right now...
Quick question: if my asian versioned MS2 installs this GB UK update, will it be able to use asian font app?
I am a UK Milestone 2 owner. When I got the phone, it had 70.12 bootloader and Froyo.
After the official Gingerbread update, I was able to go back to stock froyo, as well as custom froyo AND gingerbread ROMs, using RSD Lite, so have no fear - it's *NOT* impossible to go back.
What? Are you serious? Can you be more specific about it then. As far as we've already seen, nobody (except for you right now) was able to do downgrade from stock GB. It looks like you have some sort of magic M2 (no-efuse version)
I`ve read on this forum about engeneering versions of MS2..
this is probably such phone rather than magic
im new
i cant find out how to root the motorola Atrix 4G with android version of 2.3.5
