[Q] nexus s vs desire s? - Nexus S General

hey guys, im looking into a new phone, and the desire s and nexus s are my top 2 choices. what are you opinions?
1. ill use phone for my regular music player
2. i like sense ui more than stock
i dont really mind the earlier updates on the nexus s, and i am also not looking to root or mod either of the phones.
unfortunately, desire s hasn't hit canada. do you think its worth the wait or should i go for nexus?

I hate to act like a fanboy, but never trust HTC over Samsung... the screen is better, as I can tell you are into some media (movies, music YouTube, Netflix work on the Nexus S ans fast as hell) the sound is amazing ( I can't really say its better because I have never used the Desire S) the Nexus S has a faster chip and Sense bogs the device down. And if you are anything like me you will hate HTC quality, sure it looks and feels premium but every HTC device I get always seems to have a dead pixel or a damaged "super special awesome unibody design". In my opinion, the Desire S line is going to be updated in a couple of months anyways, as HTC almost didn't even update the original Desire for "memory issues". Just go for the Nexus S, it's one of those devices that you have to use to understand, it may sound outdated on a spec sheet, but boy does it zip through the UI and look gorgeous, which is why the Atrix wasn't as big as Motorola thought it would be.

Desire S = very bad battery life
Nexus S = acceptable battery life

legend worth it to skip desire?

asking few questions to legend owner.
between legend and desire, i'm leaning towards legend because of its design.
but snapdragon on desire sounds very tempting...
what do you say legend users? do you experience any lag because of lack of cpu or ram compare to desire?
The desire is more powerful but don't forget that its screen has a higher resolution, in other words it needs more power...
Why I've chosen the legend over the desire?
- First of all the legend has a much better finish than the desire, that looks too "nerd" for me. It looks more like a small computer than a cell phone..
- The legend is very smooth and do not really need more power
-The legend can almost do everything the desire can do but with a better pocket size.
- With a 3,2 screen instead of 3,7 screen, and a worse processor, it think the battery is better.
However, you should take the desire if:
- You really want to watch videos on your device
- You like playing a lot with your device because i think that games are going to require more and more config to run...
Look at the price for both desire & legend, its nearly the same: there is no best phone between them...
=> The legend has one of the best design for a smartphone
=> The desire is the more powerful
Allow me to offer a few pointers. I've got both devices. Desire for myself and the Legend for my wife.
Performance-wise, there's no doubt the Desire edges out the Legend. But the Legend is not 40% slower as the CPU clockspeeds may suggest. You'll encounter the occasional hiccup with the Legend when compared to the Desire, but you probably won't notice it unless you have both devices like I do. I would call this round a draw.
Aesthetically, it's very subjective. When you pull your Legend out, people will be drawn to the aluminum unibody enclosure. When you pull your Desire out, people will be drawn to the large 3.7" screen. I think the Legend looks nicer, but the Desire is in no way "geeky". It looks better in real life than on photos/videos. I'd describe it as more sophisticated looking while the Legend is more sexy.
Surely, you've read/seen reviews of both. See here for my review on the Desire and here for my review on the Legend. I tried to only put down things that were not mentioned or covered extensively by others. And I mentioned a couple of differences that may or may not matter to you.
Personally, I think it comes down to your screen/device size preference.
every time I pull out my legend I always get asked about it. it stands out from the crowd especially being in a country where you cannot buy it in store.
as for lag on the legend, it gets a little bit of lag if you quickly switch between lots of applications but other than that its fine
also if lag is a problem then disabling HTC sense is always an option but then you are limited to 3 home screens
it is a very good looking device tho.

big help from all of you guys......love the look of legend and i think i will go with legend instead of desire unless htc decides to make a legend looking phone with snapdragon processor
i think you will be very happy with it , especially once it is rooted and we can save apps to the sdcard :

Everytime I pull out my Legend in public I get a fine for indecent exposure. But that's for a different forum.
I love my Desire both how it looks and how it performs. Just needs a better battery to really make it the best phone period.
I haven't touched the Desire, so I can only write about the Legend.
In my own opinion:
The Legend looks GREAT, ATTRACTIVE & CLEAN design, & feels SOLID. I get so much compliments about the phone, even old folks, who don't care about phones, think the my phone is very nice looking.
However, the sharp edge on top of the earpiece sometimes hurts my ear.
It performs very well & smooth.
I use the phone MAINLY for calls & text messages. & I don't play & care for games on the phone. Therefore, the Legend's SIZE is PERFECT for me.
The phone has GREAT audio quality, which is nice & clear, & has good battery life.
I read somewhere that says because of the Legend's aluminum case, it doesn't get excellent signal. However, the reception has not let me down yet.
I'm also using HTC Touch Diamond 2, & HTC HD. My house has really bad signal & I have NO PROBLEMS with the Legend, whereas the other 2 get drop calls constantly.
It has 4 plastic buttons that feel REALLY CHEAP. You'll be disappointed with these buttons.
It has some other Cons, but you'll get that with the Desire too, so I won't go there.
I think you should also go to the Desire's board & ask what they like & dislike about the Desire & then make your own decision.
For now, I'm keeping the Legend until I can find a phone suitable for my need.
Cheers,
D
yeah the only real problem with it are the cheap feeling buttons which is a shame but the rest is of a very high quality
legend or desire
i have used nexus one before i got my legend. speed-wise, nexus one is no doubt faster than hero. but when i used legend, it's almost as smooth as the nexus one. also, when you install a lot of apps or put a lot of widgets in the homescreen, there's a tendency to lag. after using the nexus one for 2 months, i would say i like the legend more compared to nexus one. sorry im comparing legend with nexus one instead of desire. they both have the same specs anyway, well majority.

nexus one being almost identical to desire, every piece of info helps! thanks
... and something important too: Nexus one is due to be the "first in class" android, so is the most expensive one. Desire is cheaper than Nexus one to avoid confusions in the market. Legend need to be cheaper than Desire due to processor speed. I believe Legend would be more expensive if Nexus and Desire would not be available in the market. So, Legend has a competitive price with an excellent hardware and software configuration.
no doubt you are right. Best device I ever had

I been using Legend just about a week.. first phone ever that don't make any kind of hardware sound.. almost every phone that I had and tested even with HD2.. make those hardware movement noise.. this phone is rock solid.. by the look and design.. it's phone, fit in ur hand perfect.. one of the best sound quality phone that I had.. HTC sense and Android.. sense work great.. since this is my first android phone.. I can't tell much about it..I used my bro's Hero about a week. Legend is much faster.. here in US.. 3G service don't work.. but even with Edge,, it's much faster and smoother internet experience than any other phone that I had or tested.. only thing that I don't like about the hardware is the 4button key.. I wish HTC made this with capacitive touch key like the Nexus one or touch HD..
buy the Legend.. it's cheaper than Desire.. also more phone factor than Desire..
if u need super PDA+ huge phone.. buy the Desire..
LOL.. just buy either one.. u'll like it anyhow..

I have used google nexus one and legend (I dumped the nexus one in favour of the legend).
i challenge anyone to say there is a difference in speed
the 7227 is a much improved cpu over the hero/touch pro 2/diamond 2 one etc.
its not just the speed.
I think the cpu is a side issue
the real difference between these two is just the screen resolution.
my 2 cents:
1. most android apps just scale up, so actually look worse on 800x480 (no doubt will get better)
2. you can't actually browse at 800x480 on such a small screen, so its benefit is mostly in smoothing
3. 480x320 video will be smoother. very little the human will gain over 800x480 at this size and 320x480 video files will be smaller.
4. 800x480 screeen uses slightly more battery
5. lower resolutions are here to stay, e.g. HTC Tatto, Sony X10 Mini, etc. only have 240x320 !!!
In summary, whilst 800x480 would be theoretically nicer to have, it makes no difference to me at the moment. the biggest thing I wanted was amoled, which I have got.
You will LOVE the Legend. Its a keeper.
I've got the Legend, because my X10 got swiped.
(Risking OT Compared to the X10, the Legend is much smoother.
However, for me, I may consider the Desire strongly, but simply because I am using a Mac and that the WiFi teether on the Desire makes things a snap for me, especially when I am out of the office.
But otherwise, I do agree that the Legend is a keeper... maybe I'll hand it over to the wife, or to one of my kids.
legend looks super awesome in comparison to the staid desire ..
i want to thank everyone on the great informative reply. i just ordered mine at htcperida can't wait to play with this bad boy!! once again, thanks a lot everyone!!!!

Nexus s or desire hd?

Am really struggling to make a decision on which phone to get between these 2 . The desire hd following on from the origional desire has got an 8 megapixel camera, screen looks bigger but then would have to wait for ages to get updates when google releases them. So i just don't know what you guys reckon between these two great phones?, i just can't decide .
Go with the Nexus S.
The Desire HD has a big screen but it sounds like it doesn't look as good as the G2 screen or the Galaxy S. Besides, with the NS you'll have the updates first and probably a better community support.
I think the really hard choice is between the G2 (physical keyboard, better construction, good screen) and the Nexus S... But if you're hesitating between Desire HD and Nexus S take the Nexus S.
I think DHD is better because :
- 720p videos recording
- 8Mpx Camera with dual LED flash
- Micro SD slot
- Radio FM
- Notification LED
- Native support of Xvid and Avi
- Dolby Mobile and SRS WOW
- DLNA
- No PenTile Matrix
- Better support for audio formats
- Body in aluminium
- New Sense
- HTC Locations
- HTCsense.com
- 768 MB of RAM
- Fastboot
But maybe i'm wrong.
The only thing i regret in the DHD is that it hasn't front camera.
today i had a chance to compare my galaxy s and dhd, but anyway few things that are for sure better on ns
- screen - slc on dhd is good, but cant compare at all with samoled, period.
- audio quality is pathetic on dhd
- 8mpx camera is plain average, if not worse than that
- no gorilla glass and body has camera part cose of which u cant normaly place phone on anything without thinking that it will be scratched
im rly lazy to white all that down, but sgS is better than dhd, and nS is just one step ahead at least
DHD has everything. But question is does it deliver on all fronts. No.
According to most of the users. Its External speakers suck, Battery is pathetic. U vl have have to cut the functionality of most the things given to get through the day. Whats the use of having them if u cant use them. Camera is okayish. And many issues related to fittings. Also you would playing much much more than what you would be for Nexus S.
Nexus S has few things. But mostly all needed things. Good battery and with googles backing I think whatever is there on the phone should work flawlessly
Q.... Is the MT4G not a worthy competitor??? Seems to me like the MT4G has all the same things the Nexus S has + what everyone is complaining it doesn't have (now). HSPA+, Expandable memory slot, FM radio, More ram and MADE BY HTC!!! Other than Tmo bloat and no samoled, isnt it right up there! So why is no one putting it in contention?? Am i missing something here? (Aside from pure Google. Hardware wise.)
played with the desire hd today, internet was dead slow, its too big to fit in the hand i must agree, its one big and ugly phone, and now with this whole video calling game stepping up, the desire hd, will be lost so will await the coming of the nexus s, in uk.

Flash how do u turn it off on desire?
I played with my friend's DHD and I dont like it that much. The only thing I like is the screen size. Speed wise is not that impressive.
I will take Nexus S any day just because of some more important aspects:
- Better battery life
- Super Amoled
- Pure Google experience (no need to wait long to get update!)

The Desire HD is really a beautiful piece of hardware. It just feels like a solid quality phone in your hand.
One thing I've realized using both a Nexus One and Desire HD is the difference in the amount of RAM.
I switch between apps a lot when I'm in the gym, especially these three: timer, RSS reader, JEFIT (work out program). On Nexus One say I'm in the routine page in JEFIT and jump to say timer through the notification bar, when I press back to go back to JEFIT the content goes blank. I have to back out to the starting screen in JEFIT and navigate to routine again to see content.
On the Desire HD, this ain't a problem.
It could be a programming issue. But the way Android is designed bigger RAM equals less frequency of apps being cleared from memory.
I wish Google had more leverage to make Samsung beef up the specs of Nexus S more. Don't get me wrong, I still want one very much, mainly for the fastest update, but the S really isn't as revolution as the One when it came out.
For me it's also very hard to find a decision about the two phones...
Right now I have a HTC Desire and I'm really tired to wait for the latest software updates, BUT... i really like the htc additions.. especially the dialer, contacts app, camera app and sense...
And I know that the Nexus S will have a better community and a lot of devs... so can I hope after some time to see a htc sense rom (maybe when 2.3 comes out) ported to the nexus s and all apps work without any problems?
I'm also worried about the RAM... the desire hd doesn't have much more... and I really wonder if it makes any difference. My current HTC Desire also has about 512mb and I think that it's enough... hmm
Reasons not to get the Desire HD
May not get Honeycomb officially (will defo get 2.3)
Internal and external speaker problems, and very quiet. Internal speaker has high static jolts when calling over 2g. This is also the same for the Desire Z.
Heavy phone over a large area, 160g.
Scratch the metal back and your phone devalues without possible rectification.
Terrible screen, big but blacks are very bleached and also you have a white hue over the phone when viewing from an off straight angle.
Horrible battery cover, gap in the back part + easily bends and warped....
JD
I just went with a galaxy s. Until google gets NFC up and running 100%, the NS has absolutely nothign to offer over this phone. (well ok the quick updates, bt the cooking community is pretty good on XDA). Even if NFC is up and running in as little as 3-6 months, odds are that there will be a handfull of hands-down better phones avaiable with NFC.
Anywho... went used so I can sell it again when the time comes and minimize my loss while I wait for this nexus s thing to be over (either by being fixed or by having the first wave of NFC phones out).
nexus s
played on dhd not impressed way to sluggish battery drains like a running tap lol, audio quality quite poor,,,nexus s is far better, thats my oppinion
I would recommend the nexus s
Everything ist fine with the DHD except for the battery. I've tried every method available now to prolong batterylife of my dhd and still lose 40% batterylife on average use [in 4.5 hours]
But if u live in germany or europe and still want a dhd you're more than welcomed to trade da dhd and nexus s
Swyped from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
The Desire HD was the biggest disappointment of the year for me. The screen is absolutely HORRIBLE. It's washed out and dull. I put the Desire HD next to the Desire and the Galaxy S and the result was so glaringly pathetic that I lost all interest in the HD from that moment on. Sure it has a big screen, but I'd much rather loose the .3 (.4?) inches and jump from generic LCD to Super AMOLED.
I'm rather surprised that so few sites (if any) that reviewed the HD seem to make note of it's terrible screen resolution and color.
Anyway, with the Nexus S being essentially the Galaxy S2, it's almost a hands down "yes" in terms of the decision to buy it.
This is the Nexus S section of the forum, what do you think were going to say? If we thought the Desire HD was better, we would probably have the Desire HD, but since most people who come here, including myself, think otherwise I'm going to say get the Nexus S.

Nexus S or Desire HD, need advice

so what would be a better choice thanks
i like the htc but that screen from samsung look good
what do you guys think
They are both nice devices. Here is a quick comparison I found that could be useful to you http://blog.etech.com/2011/01/20/nexus-s-vs-htc-desire-hd-review/
I prefer the Nexus S over the Desire HD primarily due to battery life. HTC as much as I love their products don't seem to place very much emphasis on a lasting battery. HTC Sense is nice feature but it does come with a small performance cost.

I have both. The Desire HD's advantages are the big screen and more powerful browsing ability (less lag with Flash and heavy sites). Some people will also prefer the SD card slot instead of the 16MB internal storage found on the Nexus S.
However, on the Desire HD the external speaker has low volume and tinny sound, the GPS is slow to lock, and the video capture is typical HTC mediocre quality. Plus the lack of front-facing camera on the Desire HD may be important to some people.
Neither.

Come back and post your opinions and experience. It's good to see people do head to head comparisons and find out which they prefer.
Personally, I didn't get the chance to do a direct comparison, but after playing with the Desire HD in the store, I was put off a bit. I know it has mediocre battery life, the screen/body is too big for my tastes, and I don't really care for the aluminum body. It didn't seem like much of an upgrade from my Desire. So I tried the Motorola Atrix and although it has excellent hardware, the software is just pitiful and slow (terrible for a dual-core). So I waited for the HTC Incredible S to arrive, and again I was not really impressed and felt it wasn't much of an update. That left me with the Nexus S, and to be honest I don't like the Samsung Galaxy line at all, mediocre performance and ugly UI. Yet this is a nice phone, really nice. It was all the positive reviews and comments online that swayed me...I'm glad I waited for it and so far it has been really good with great battery life. And "vanilla android" is a treat - factory unlocked, fast and consistent, and I've downloaded all the widgets I liked on the HTC phones.
I'm a happy camper with the Nexus S.
Another thing,
If you don't like Sense UI you can flash CyanogenMod on your HD. It is pretty stable.
One thing I really hated about Sense on the HD was the 5-second lag that happened whenever you delete an appointment in its calendar app.
I actually prefer my Nexus S now, no big issues to complain about yet.
Due to new events, I will recommend you wait for the Sensation

The browsing thing is mainly because HTC implemented Hardware acceleration to some degree, nut if you download Opera Mobile 11 from Android Market its even smoother than HTC's implementation.
And actually the Sd card thing didn't bother me at all, since i never switched Sd cards when i had my hero, and this thing has more memory too ^^

Yeah I know about the hardware acceleration but I have faith that this feature will be added to the Nexus S eventually. Opera Mobile was an okay workaround but the app itself is unstable. Skyfire also works well.

Desire HD vs Nexus S (which one should I buy?)

I'm asking here because I really like how the DHD looks and it's specs, but the battery capacity is a big disappointment and the screen is lcd, not even slcd and I heard it has poor colors. What can you guys comment about that, how bad is the battery on this thing? Can it last at least half a day with pretty intensive usage (internet, gaming, live wallpaper, movies)?
My other option is the Nexus S, but no Sense UI will be kinda hard to get used to since I'm coming from a Desire. Also, is there any significant difference between their hardware, how better is the nexus s at gaming for example?
Well, how do you get along with the battery? Is it any better then HTC Desire? I assume there are some people who moved on from Desire to DHD.
Well, your in the DHD section, so I suspect the answers will be a forgone conclusion as to what you should buy.
My decision came down to these two as well, I chose the DHD for the bigger screen, better build quality, and better camera, Sense played no part in the decision, I would have preferred standard Android on a developer device over Sense, but I can put a vanilla rom on it, I'm not a fan of plastic, and I need as big a screen as practically possible since everything has gone capacitive, plus the Nexis S is about the same size, just with more bezel and less screen area.
Battery life seems fine to me, although the nexus S is said to be much better, which would stand to reason as it has a higher capacity battery.
I don't regret my choice, YMMV, considering how many seem to be around, you don't hear too many complaints about the DHD
I found that after flashing a custom ROM (Android Revolution) that my battery life has been considerably longer.
I played with a friend's Nexus S the other day and I have to agree with lvantic about the build quality - the DHD feels much more solid and therefore much more awesome.
Firstly, the Nexus S, and all AMOLEDs, are the ones that have poor colours, not the LCDs. AMOLEDs are massively oversaturated, hence the contrast and vibrance. When it comes to colour accuracy, the DHD display is very, very good, one of the better ones out there. It's an SLCD; however it's all just a name, they are all no different to a standard LCD.
As for battery life, my phone has to last an hour and a bit of YouTube and general surfing in the morning, about 30 texts and surfing throughout the day, and an hour and a bit of phone calls on be way back, and i usually have about 30% left. So the battery life isn't brilliant, however, if you can get it on a charger at the end of the day, you won't have any problems, and it is enough. Half a day won't be a problem.
The Nexus S is less powerful; it is the same hardware as the Galaxy S. However, the difference isn't monumental. For gaming, any of them will be gast enough, Android games aren't that demanding yet.
However, after all this...I think you'd be better off just keeping your Desire, as in day to day use, it is just as fast.

The Desire HD has regular TFT-LCD.. not S-LCD. There are differences. S-LCD has slightly more saturated and brighter colours. Just google Desire HD and Desire Z.. look at the comparison pictures.. big difference.
With that said.. OP i dont think you should worry at all about the Desire HD's screen. It has to be one of the best TFT-LCD's out there. Newer firmware updates have improved the colours believe it or not.
Don't get either one and get the Sensation which is coming in a month, assuming that your country will also get it.
You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking 'HTC Sensation/Pyramid or Samsung Galaxy S2'. Both the Nexus S and the Desire HD have been overtaken by newer (and much better) models - when the Sensation comes out.
I have a DHD, a Nexus S and a Galaxy S2. I will be getting a Sensation but just because I like Sense. There is no comparison between the GalaxyS2 and the DHD. They are miles apart... with the DHD being the inferior phone.

You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking 'HTC Sensation/Pyramid or Samsung Galaxy S2'. Both the Nexus S and the Desire HD have been overtaken by newer (and much better) models - when the Sensation comes out.

+1 to that. The OP should look for newer phones if he wants to upgrade.
Dhd have SLCD. First desires come with TFT and second charge (octomber I think) comes with SLCD, So from that time all htc have slcd
In comparation with amoled screen LIVE, not youtube, the DHD screen it's way better.
Battery last a day with no problem,
Anyway the best htc phone until pyramid appears...

My mistake; my view on it is that they are all just marketing names, hence the confusion. They are different units but the technology is the same.
However, I completely disagree that the OP is asking the wrong questions. The DHD is a great buy at a good price, if you don't go on a contract. Sure, the new phones are more powerful, but at a price. And in reality, you are extremely unlikely to utilise this power. In single core performance, the new phones and the older single cores have very similar performance.
Basically, if you want to save, a DHD is a great choice, probably more so than a Nexus S. If you are willing to part with more cash, a dual core phone is a good buy, however the chances are you won't utilise the capabilities they can bring.

Don't get either one and get the Sensation which is coming in a month, assuming that your country will also get it.

Too friggin expensive! I'd rather get an iphone 4 with that money.
Well, atm I am oscillating between refurbished phones with warranty and in good condition, still at nexus and dhd, the cheapest I'll find will be bought.
I like DHD more ..
I would go for dhd, there are a lot of possibilities to get better battery life
Sry for my bad english

Well, how do you get along with the battery? Is it any better then HTC Desire? I assume there are some people who moved on from Desire to DHD.

I still have my HTC Desire, both with CM based mods, and the battery life is about the same, but as standard units, the Desire HD battery felt longer?, HTC did mention how the Desire HD had smaller battery capacity compared to Desire because the CPU is more efficient.
Oh...sorry, the main point is...get the HTC Desire HD over the Nexus S.
Nexus S is not that much cheaper, smaller screen, less RAM, no significant CPU speed increase, camera still lacking, basically a Galaxy S that looks like HTC Magic, cannot get anymore plastic feel on it.
HTC Desire HD is about the same price, bigger screen, larger RAM, same level of CPU speed, camera is better, nice quality feel, built better with metal construction.
so yea...thats why I got the Desire HD and all...thats coming from a perspective bloody bias HTC whore. Myself.
The only advantage of the NS over the DHD is Google support. You'll get official updates before others. In terms of build quality, specs, screen size, Sense (if that's your thing), screen quality (LCDs are better than AMOLEDs in every aspect but the black) the DHD is supperior. About the dual cores - they will live up to their money after there is an OS that is optimized for them and apps that utilize their potential. Untill then the fast single cores are good enough considering the price difference.

For me one main dealbreaker and why I went for HTC DHD was that Nexus S does not support micro-sd cards and the memory will be limited there.
I found that after flashing a custom ROM (Android Revolution) that my battery life has been considerably longer. Battery last a day with no problem.
My take: if it's between dhd and nexus s, I'd go with dhd. Sd card supportis a must. Plus dhd is really customizable. Between sensation and s2, I'd go for s2 for it's unlocked bootloader. If I got the money

so far....would you change your desire HD for a motorola Atrix?

hello comunity, a friend of mine is insisting in changing me his atrix for my desire hd... my phone is in perfect conditions, i am very happy with my phone because it a great support, and the big screen is something i love, i like how it takes the pictures, and my battery life has been ending from the morning to the night with 20% left...
the plus of the atrix is that it has FFC, its dual core, QHD screen, fingerprint unlocker, and bigger battery, but it has a smaller screen, and the UI is so ugly, i dont know hows the camera, and how it performs with the games...
so what do you thin guys... is it a good deal or should i keep my DHD?
in case of UI, that is not a problem. you can always install a custom AOSP rom or a second launcher and modify your system to your wish. Small screen is only concern. I wouldn't change my DHD for anything with smaller screen. Actually only phone I would be able to change my DHD for is Samsung Galaxy Note, which I'm getting in January
But in performance do you guys think atrix is better than DHD..? Maybe with ics coming? And what about camera?

Heard the atrix has okay specs, but I love my inspire/dhd. love it so much I got 2, the inspire and a euro DHD w/ a dead TS . Like that I have more ram then the atrix and looove the solid build that HTC does. If they made this phone a duel core, shot in 1080p, bumbed the 8mpx to atleast 10-12mpx, changed the lcd screen to something more crisp and kills apples retna display then I'd be even more happier and never change this phone

Motorola? NEVER!
I have both of these phones. I gotta say, the atrix is a better phone. It has way more power, battery lasts me two days using Homebase rom and I love the lapdock. Fingerprint scanner is also awesome. Games like Shadowgun run perfect on it. DHD has a way bigger developing community though and I do like sense. I currently am using runnydroid on my dhd and can barely make a day on the battery. I did just calibrate it last night though, so we'll see how today goes.
Atrix also has the option for a docking station.
I know it sounds a bit mad but for business users this could be a great advantage.
I can get my Windows work desktop to appear on the DHD but if only there was a way to hook up and external monitor and use a bluetooth kb and mouse. I could then ditch all other devices and only have my DHD for everything.
I think the DHD is perfect other than this (battery capacity maybe too) .
no still loving my DHD until 4 core processor release...
maybe i would, given its amazing battery life and the HD dock... pretty neat features. The quality of the phone is also superb. Motorola makes the most solid phones( hardly surprising given its expertise).
BUT BUT BUT.
their after-sales support fails, outside of the USA. ( if you want to keep it stock ROM,unrooted )
and despite grand claims by nvidia, tegra 2 kinda sucks. No neon instruction support and guess what, MOST HD mp4 videos cant be played(some 480p videos too) unless you re-encode the video/use rock player(may be choppy).
Pretty irritating for me given that i love watching videos.
Well I have just gone the other way Atrix back to DHD.
For music with poweramp Atrix is a fab machine beats the DHD.
Battery life too.
Screen looks better on DHD & it's batter to use.
The Atrix is over rated & the software is kak. Not that many Roms out there either.
I'd avoid the Atrix, or any Motokak handset.
It's your choice but I had Atrix for 3 months & got shut & glad I did so
Don't even mention MOTOROLA. I had the worst experience with motorola services. I own a motorola defy and it's been an year since motorola announced FROYO for my eu phone but it's been more than a year and they are still rolling out. I highly doubt if they're even working on it now but it never came...
And why atrix? you've got droid bionic, you've got RAZR so why atrix....but don't even consider buying motorola. You'll have to survive on custom roms...
I like my DHD, and i don't want motorola
Just ask yourself a question: if Atrix is better than DHD, then why does your friend insist in the exchange?
