hello everyone,
i need your help to partition my sd card and to enable app2sd, last week i had formated my sd card cause i ve got somme probleme witjh it the sd carde were parttionned and working fine but after formating it i tried to partition it with mad team app2sd(using kyrillos 4.1 oc) application as i did befor, but after enting commande in termainal emulator and copying fs convert to fugmode reprtory in sd card i can t no longer see a2sd line in titanium back up i tried to reformat reflash with xjpf, xjpm then many other custom rom nothing happen i made a secreenshot of titanium backup screen but i cant upload it to the post
so i dont know what a did wrong this time
many thanks for your help
hi..
Format the sdcard and try partitioning using minitool..
thank for your reply
can you tell me if i put this on minitool
partition fat 32: 13gb
ext 2:1.5gb
ext 3:200mb will it work? and if i have to enter commande mkfs.vfat/dev/block..
in terminal emulator
now i m using kyrillos 5.5
The partition should be ext4 and you won't require 1.5gb for apps.. Make an ext4 partition of 512mb or 1gb and the second partition fat32 .. swap partition isn't necessary
also make sure that both partitions are primary ..
And you won't have to enter any command in terminal emulator..
Ok very thankful for your reply i will try tomorow

hello again
i tried your solution but still not working i explain: i formated my sd card using gparted live cd and external card reader then i made 2 partition: fat 32(13.95) and ext4 (1gb) both as primary then i shutedown my phon put sd card on it and the phone didnt boot(bootloop during 10 min) so i removed the battery removed sd card i copied the content of the reportery sdcard present in the kyrillos 5.5 zip and still not bootin , so i removed again the battery and sd card then the phone starts without the sd card and when i put the sd card and when i go the titanium backup its shows me a prtition with 14.9
any suggestion please
Does it show a field named app2sd in titanium? If yes, what is the size of it ?
Also let the phone boot with the sdcard in.. It sometimes takes a very long time on the first boot..
no its not shoing its, do you think that if i try to reflash with kyrillos rom may be it ll work

Reflashing could help but do that only if you're sure that you've partitioned the sdcard correctly
i tried to boot the phone with sd card in but its freez on boot after about 15 min
this is my partitions:

Which version of app2sd are you using?? And do you have CWM recovery?? If yes, then boot into recovery with SD card in. Then wipe data. And reboot. If it doesn t boot, again goto recovery and wipe data. Keep doing it few times till it boots. The first boot will take longer time.
I use kyrillos rom 5.5 but as i said i cant use cwm because my volume up and down are out so i cant navigate throught the menu

Hmm. Then boot up first. Then insert SD card. And then do factory reset by going into settings=>privacy. Do this a few times till it boots. Doing factory reset also wipes data. So this should also work(theoretically).
Will try this just one thing should i flash the ketnel too

Hi folks,
I hope somebody can help me out here.
I want to create the ext4.
I tried whole evening and read so much. Getting desprate
I tried:
- In Minitool: ext4. Does not work, every time I boot (I have K7-OC with G3mod kernel ) my phone is in a bootloop?
- via USB connection and minitool: I get &é"'é"'("("§" signs and both partitions are damaged.
- EASUS 9 is not capable of ext4 for now.
- Formatting in (G3mod) clockwork, it creates an ext3, wich is not enough
I tried the Fugumod kernel for formatting, but this one hanged every time.
It's quite crazy because I managed to create the ext4 by formating in G3mod CWM and format to ext4 in minitool. Suddenly I could see it in Titanium:
{

But stupid me, I forgot to remove the SD card when reflashing the K7 rom, and the partition was damaged. (is this a bug). But now at least I know this is why my phone was blocking everytime, because of a damaged ext partition.
So, can anybody give me advice or tell me how to get finaly a ext4???

Remove app2sd script from /system/etc/init.d folder.. Then use data2sd ..

Thx for your quick reply.
Some Q:
- How is that different?
- Where to download? (installin in the init.d ?)
- Make partitions? How? ext4?
- Will it solve the fact that the ext4 partition locks the phone at startup (not everytime it seems)
Do you know link2SD app? I think this could be a solution? Since the app2sd only copies the data, not Dalvisk?

thx mate,
- I think I go for link2SD, it's to complicated for me to check that all out.
- To be clear: I have ext4 now in minitool, and it stays there. When taking the SD card out and into the cardreader. Only thing is, my phone keeps rebooting for ever with the SD in the phone.
- I read that a swap slows your phone? I only have a class 4 card.
- What app do you mean for g3mod kernel?

Wonderful to get so much help here!
I just have it flashed
For now I use the combination of Link2SD and a2sd. (with fat32)
This works good for now. I have 50Mb free.
I will partition later if I get probs this way, because I installed all programs again (must be the 20th time I do this, last weeks, due to crashes and experimenting)
Let's keep the fingers crossed ;-)

So, at least with Kyrillos 6.x I had successfully made my partitions, used them.
Then I just flashed Kyrillos7.0 following the instructions included, now I have full working ext2 and ext3 partitions.
That should work for you guys too, if not maybe the problem is not the phone, nor the ROM, nor the kernel...

1. do you have partition on sd card?
2.did you copy Android folder to root of sdcard and owerwrited
it?
3.did you set in titanium backup to restore backups to internal?
and try KMapp to check out if hd2sd is ticked in app....
and under hds2d settings in KMapp check if you have ticked following:
app, log, dalvik cache..under dalvik cache there are few options what to move....and remeber: it is important that you copy this folder(Android) to root of ur sdcard...
http://db.tt/b5ahm2zW
unzip it to sdcard and owerwrite it....

what r u saying is first u enable hybrid app2sd after that u make partition..?
it very simple just follow this STEP BY STEP... which Kyrillos said..
Optional, Enable Hybrid Data2sd [More space for apps!]
- Make a backup of your sdcard, enter CWM recovery and go to Miscellaneous => Partition SD Card. Choose the sizes you want (Recommended:512-1Gb ext, and 0mb swap]. After the partition completes, wipe data and reboot. You can now copy back all your sdcard files which you did a backup.
- Then copy the contents of the sdcard folder in your sdcard and reboot. No wipe data required, the first reboot may take time.
- Install titanium and go to titanium backup's preferences, and select Restore Backups to => Internal Storage. Then do your restore...

How to unpartition?
Hi, I used kyrillos rom before I installed cm7 a7 and in kyrillos I enabled HD2S and partitioned my sdcard with 512mb, after some time I installed a fresh copy of cm7 from odin, and my sdcard still has a maximum of 6.9GB instead of 7,4gb so i was wondering if there is a way to restore my sdcard to it's previous state?
A Little Help Plz
I installed kyrillos 9.0....
Updated to v9.5....Successfully!
Copied the four files necessary for HYBRID DATA2SD to my sd card
Went into cwm nd partitioned my sd card ..... successfully!
Installed Titanium Backup which shows the partition (a2sd)
went into terminal evaluator which shows hybrid data2sd script running
But still whenever i install apps, my internal memory gets low ???
I installed Kmapp also and have HYBRID DATA2SD enabled with "app, dalvik cache & log" checked
What did i do wrong?
Remedies please..
Thanks In advance
When it comes to partitioning SD Cards I am total noob.
Okay I partitioned my SD Card and made a 7 GB FAT32 partition of for my stuff and a EXT 4 of around 560 MB.....
After that I directly installed Kyorarom v0.5 and now I wanna know the few things:
1. What is App2SD?
2. What is App2SD+?
3. What is Data2SD?
4. What is Hybrid Data2SD?
And when I connect my phone to the PC and enable USB storage I find my SD Card empty while from my phone's file manager I see a few folders in it.....
Hybrid data2sd enable you to manually (and easy) select which files/folders you want to move to sd. Data wipe isnt nessesary take a look at herefor app2sd

I partitioned using PC.....
By MiniTool....
I now regret it...
Should have done by CWM...
But now that I have made the mistake how do I fix it?
When I connect to PC I can see the files which I transferred on SD Card from my PC. And in my phone I cannot see those files but I can see the files which were made by my phone such as folders like "Android", "Data" etc...
I want to turn my SD Card back to normal.
The way it was and then I will partition via CWM.
How do I turn it back to normal the way it was?
Just one whole partition with no Unallocated space?

btw: did u copy those files to sd...and check init.d folder...if there is app2sd script delete it....unless you will use app2sd....then you have 3 options v1, v2, v3...best is v2 coz v3 causes lags...coz with v3 all ur data goes to sd-ext...it should be like this when on hd2sd:

So I just put this file in the desired location and then I am done?
I flashed my HD2 with MIUI 2.3.7 some time ago, but now I'm constantly getting low internal storage errors. One thing I didn't do when I flashed this ROM was repartition the SD card (and I think this ROM has A2SD built in?). So I know that might probably help getting rid of the errors.
But when I checked the phone's internal memory, I saw "200 MB used - 18 MB free". So that's a total of 218MB internal memory? I'm pretty sure I'm missing at least 200Mb there.
I have another HD2 here (running AmeriCanAndroid from SD) so I checked its internal memory under "About Phone". On the HD2 with ACA, it says it has a total of 411MB internal memory. On the HD2 with MIUI, it says it has a total internal memory of 217MB. So where's the missing 194MB?
I read somewhere that the phone probably has a wrong "ClockworkMod Recovery partition layout" and that for MIUI, it needs a "150MB Partition Layout". The article didn't actually explain what those things are or how to set it up.
So, is that indeed what's going on here (any way to check)? And if so, how can I change my phone to this "150MB Partition Layout?"
Thanks in advance.
Like I said, it was quite a while ago when I flashed this ROM so I can't remember what I did when I did. But looking at my HD2 folder on my PC, I probably *did* use a 150MB ClockWorkMod recovery partition size. Also, I *did* create a 1GB ext partition on my SD Card for A2SD.
So why am I getting the "low internal storage" errors?
Many possibilities, could be the ext partition not being recognized, not in proper format...
The script may not be working (?). And you're never going to get the whole 512MB of your ROM. I think it's maximum 400, give or take. so about 400 - 150 you're left with about 250 .. I don't know where that 50 went (maybe it is not actually 400? or maybe you set a slightly larger partition).
I also never believed in a2sd, always datatoext. Your best bet is to back up your apps using titanium (or similar apps), check the partitions, and reflash ROM + a different script; that is because you can't flash a script while having been used the rom. (or you can try your luck).
dat english.
I second that, app2sd is not reliable to get more memory available.
Lack of internal storage is due to a incorrect system partition. It has nothing to do with your ext4 partition, since you're not running NativeSD.
DataOnEXT is your best option. Backup your app data and flash a ROM from start with DataOnExt option.
Be sure to make your system size large enough.
Create an ext4 partition on your sd of 1 to 2 GB for app storage.

You should use Cronmod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 INT2EXT+ is recommended
Flash your rom on nand (without dataonext) then flash Cronmod(you must have ext4 partition, 1gb is good)
On clk 1.5 you can easily change partition sizes without computer

So it looks like it's being recognized just fine...

Yes, it is. But the script you're using is useless. Use DataOnExt instead.
WARNING: You need to do a fresh install, so make a backup beforehand.
I tried DataOnExt and I can't get it to work. It keeps giving me force close errors on almost every app/widget and when I reboot my phone, all my widgets loose their settings.

Try a different ROM, and increase your /system size to 285MB or 300-350MB if you have badblocks.

You can't dirty flash it, you need a fresh install. If you do a dirty one, everything will force close.
Have you considered using NativeSD?

I second this, NativeSD can be great.
The only few cons I know of, is that NAND is a tad bit more responsive (even with highclass SD cards), battery life is shorter than if you only were to use NAND and your SD card will wear out quicker.
Other than that, it's basically superious to NAND.
Sorry, i searched it in xda and google but i couldn't find. What is dataonext? How can i do this?

DataonExt is basically using a partition of your sd-card( called the ext partition) to store stuff. This ext partition acts as your phone's internal memory, so when we run into low internal memory situation, after installing apps etc, dataonext usually saves the day.
You need 2 things to use this feature
A. An ext partition on your sd card
B. A script that mounts that ext partition as internal memory
A )
This can be done my using the minitool partition wizard or the CWM recovery.
In CWM menu, go to advanced>partition sd card. Select the partition size you want, keep swap to 0. Most GB roms dont need swap. And thats it, the ext partition is created
WARNING!!
Along with creating an ext partition, YOUR SD CARD WILL BE WIPED. MAKE BACKUPS
B) You need an A2SD script, Most A2SD roms already have this script so when u install the rom, after partitioning, the ext partition is automatically mounted. If you want another script, check my signature

This was the first thing that came up on google.
So you mean to tell me you have searched google AND xda and you couldn't find an answer? Seems legit.
You're lucky for having people like adil answering your question first.

Thanks for reply. is it ext3 or ext4 for hd2? and i will mount it "/data" or "/" or no mount? and what about cluster size? And i will use jb rom so i need swap? Thanks.

It did not say "NativeSD", it said "Native". He is using "Native" here as an English word, not a method of booting android.
In fact, if you had clicked on that and gone further you'd have realized what I mean.
Tip: Next time when you search something, you need to go INTO the things you find, not just read their titles.
And btw, it should be ext4 and don't worry about the cluster size, default is fine.

To basically just use the ext partition as internal memory, any ext type can be used. The CWM makes a ext3. You need the ext4 partition for NativeSD roms. Thats a WHOLE different thing. And when u use a default rom with A2SD support, you dont need to mount anything, anything that needs to be mounted, IS mounted.
For swap, check the rom thread, it should be there.
