I haven't seen any low resolution images yet. I have no association with this app just sharing for those frustrated with the cropping in honeycomb 3.1 I personally really like this app

The developers name bothers me.

I like it, thanks. Orion421 is right that name is a little frightening. But the permissions are tame at best. So far the resolution has been fine on the wallpapers that I've tried.

I will have to agree with you there. I was a little timid at first to try this app my self because of the name but after looking at what permissions it needed and reviews I had seen on another site I decided to give it a try and glad I did.

can anyone give the direct .apk file link?

same for me, very low res images which is a shame.

Same for me. The images looked nice but they were really low res so they became blurry once I've installed/set them.
Compare the road photo from Acer stock walpapers and then with images from this app and you'll see the difference.
This is probably made for 7" screens.

some background works and other don't. Most of the backgrounds that are in a thread here are from this app

Actually they are from all over the internet. The app just does the same as the background threads, scrapes some stuff together. Only in this case they are far from the size you need for a 720p resolution.

Where exactly is that? And how can I set wallpapers from there without cropping them?

Hmmm I haven't noticed the low res images, but I only use a few from this app, but love it. Widest variety of any other wallpaper app I've seen!

They are not actually low resolution. its just when the tablet optimizes it to the tablet resolution, they become blurry. Its like keeping the original resolution but zooming alot on it.
I'd be sharing a link with you all once I get out of my newbie status.
Cheers

Thanks for this app.
I haven't noticed the pictures being low res. You must have Superior eyes.
I wish there was a way to crop and manage them and a way to search on the tablet for images.

Yes they are low res. You can save them to your device and check out yourself. Some are like half of what you need. If you enjoy the app fine, but don't deny the obvious.

How to deal with no flash on Camera?

Hey guys,

Personally, I never buy a phone for the camera
I use the built in cam for quick shots when I'm out and too lazy to bring or turn on my "real" camera. Mostly, I'll take pictures of things I want to remember, like signs, flyers and ads. That's a handy trick for bargain hunters by the way.
If you really want to use this for a camera frequently (I don't blame you for not wanting to carry two devices) try to make the best of it. There's always some kind of light source, it's a matter of knowing where to place your subject to get maximum light. Try different backgrounds too, if available. Depending on the light and the subject, a lighter or darker background can make the picture clearer.
You'll still get dim photos of course, especially when taking random shots of everyday life. Two tips: 1. Learn to use the brightness/contrast controls that are available in just about any photo editor. 2. Keep your camera steady (maybe brace it against a table or a wall.)
My number one tip though, is get a dedicated digital camera from a respected brand.
I did an experiment...

If you've got a decent editing program, you can usually enhance the photo enough to make it worthwhile.
If you don't have the program (or the skills), I've had decent luck with http://http://www.vicman.net/mobilephotoenhancer/

I bet somepeople like me would like to see a wolverine themed android bot maybe like with the wolverine claws or even in his blue and yellow suit. I dont know sounds cool.
hahahaha, wolverine bot. that would be interesting.
my thought would be more of a widescreen paper. some ppl who use sense have 7 screens. others can get 5... so a paper that can stretch over those would be nice.
Hey guys,
thanks for the comments.
Later i will try to create an Wolverine Bot and a Wallpaper for 5/7 Screens.
The android all over the world wallpaper looks awesome.

good job!
There are TONS of good FREE 960x800 (wide/scrollable) wallpapers here...
http://downloadsphoto.com/WVGAWallpaper/page/search/fields32767/960x800
Only problem is downloading them 1 at a time. I spent 30 mins downloading 212 semi-random papers and will upload them @ megaupload as soon as I suss that out, in case anyone wants a quick 960x800 pack.

Sorry if this is obvious and you have done it but...
When the crop box appears, you can click/drag the outer edge of the box....drag it to cover the whole wallpaper = no crop = no visible loss in quality.
I'm only saying because i didnt notice this for a little while.
Hope it helps.
PS. thanks to the OP and others for the well made backgrounds posted here. Cheers.
Here is a pack of 'random' 960x800 wallpapers.
I did not create a single one of these wallpapers/backgrounds....all of them were downloaded from the link in my post above ^
Please check that link to see who deserves the real credit....all I have done is downloaded them, packed into a rar and uploaded them to megaupload.
212 wallpapers / 960x800 / 45.23MB .rar file

Just curious what you guys would suggest for changes. I realize everyone is different, but hearing some suggestions would be nice.

The icons I found from this post from XDA. (thank you XDA user mikebeecham)
The background is from AndroidCentral. I typically roll black... always come back to this.
The ROM is Onyx 2.1 via Team Whiskey (leaked 2.2).
The 1x1 weather widget is Beautiful Widgets (I really do not like the 4x2 style).
I only have ONE screen... LP lets you have 15 icons at the bottom, that have swype gestures so there are really 30 apps I can open with nothing on my desktop and not opening the app drawer.
I find myself chocked full of lameness, in the sense that I rarely deviate from stock. About the only areas where I bother to customize is wallpapers and ringtones, though I have a massive collection of both courtesy of Ringdroid and Google image search.
And even there it seems that I tend to think a bit narrowly. Most all of my wallpapers are either artwork of Audrey Kawasaki or Sumi Keiichi.
Currently running TW's Obsidian v2...Heck, even my screen layout and icon positions have become a matter of course. I've kept my screen layout pretty much identical since July regardless of firmware.
I r the suk

I would...but it's actually REALLY A LOT LOL.
Furthermore it's stuff that is too easy to find if you understand how to use Google's Image search. Though wallpapers in our screen's native format are harder to come by (960x800), the aspect ratio of 1280x1024 traditional desktop wallpapers is nearly identical (1.2, compared to 1.25). An app like Wallpaper Set And Save will fit these with no discernible distortion.
In other words, I'm so lazy that I do not break out Irfanview and Gimp to custom resize, I just use backgrounds optimized for the 1280x1024 desktop resolution. Making that one change though opens up a world of millions of wallpapers to those like me who would rather look for new and interesting stuff than spend all day in image editing software resizing things....
Lazy I be.
Makes a lot of sense actually, thanks. Never really understood the point of those apps.

Xperia Arc Home (Runs great, no force closes!)

Thanks to an XDA user named Lef.teris here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970643&page=1, the system dump for the Sony Xperia Arc has been posted. Another user named Paolo599 ripped the home launcher (called Sony Ericsson Home)... this can be found:
http://www.multiupload.com/2YETWLF218
I've been using it for the last 20 minutes with no force closes. Sony decoupled it's launcher with it's Time and Mediascape apps, so I'm guessing this is why it's relatively pain free to use.
Try it out, it's very cool. You can drag and drop apps into the dockbar and it has a folder management system FOR the dockbar. 5 screens. Very clean looking. It's app drawer also has "pages" as well. Only thing I see wrong is that it's made for slightly bigger phones because the dock text is cut off.
Lemme know how you like it. I don't know if the demand is there, but I'm sure if the home works this good- all we need to grab is the walls and the sounds and we can transform the look of our Vibrant's pretty fast.

Nice, got any screenshots?
Of it in action on my phone? No. But this is what it generally looks like minus the widgets and the dock text (it's made for higher res phones) http://topnews.net.nz/images/sony-ericsson-xperia-arc-01.jpg
That's pretty clean.. I like the silver battery mod.
Pretty cool, always nice to have new options. It does look a little cut off at the bottom though.
Well, according to the Arc section- Sony has made everything in the launcher open source to distribute and mod so maybe someone can mess with the resolution?
Maybe a full on port?
In the short time you've been using it did you notice any selling points of the launcher beyond the look of it?

Folders, the app drawer looks nice, at least unique with custom ordering. Btw, its free, small, and you can switch off at any time, why do you need to be sold?

The bottom dock icon doesn't line up. Maybe just mine. Posted some screenshots of the launcher.

The bottom doesn't line up because the Arc has a higher resolution than our phones. A dev is going to have to mess with it if they want it to be perfect.
I'm gonna add a screenshot or two of yours to the main post and give you credit.

Screen sharpening? Maybe it's just...

The freaking font. No seriously. The default LG font is way too thin and when displayed on a white surface is very uncomfortable to read.
I just installed Roboto font using iFont and I can no longer find any (noticeable) sharpening done on the phone.
This is not placebo. Try it yourself and be amazed! Maybe there's still a sharpening issue, somewhere. But switching the font has mostly cured it for me. Yay.

Tried it, it's still there. It won't show up on screenshots by the way, and it's most noticeable with black text on a grey background.

You're right. Still there. But bolder fonts make the sharpening effect a lot less annoying. I can finally use Press without poking my eyes out.
I can't wait for a fix to come out for this! As a photographer, I see a lot of beginner photographers over sharpening their pictures, giving the same effect. Now MY WHOLE PHONE DOES THIS CONSTANTLY. Just kills me.

It depends on the screen to be honest sometimes I'm shielding my eyes other times like this post can't see it. I am wondering if there is some algorithm running and it adapts constantly.

Yeah it's definitely more noticeable when there's a grey background. Load this page up on your phone.
Also, once I got the effect to pop-in (not sure how, if I come across it again I'll definitely try to reproduce it) so it's gotta be some kind of processing unrelated to the display firmware.
Changing the font to Roboto Condensed using iFont completely solved the text sharpening issue. Even when the test of the screen has halo artifacts, the font looks fine.
As for icons and other issues with oversharpening, they too come and go for me. Sometimes the screen looks amazing, other times everything is super sharpened. I wonder if it has to do with throttling?
It's not everywhere. It'll show up in apps that have bad QHD support. I didn't have any of it in the vast majority of apps I was using, but then I ran into older apps and it suddenly appeared.
