Mango to go in public beta in 2-3 days (22nd June) - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Neowin has received multiple independent tips that the beta will be made available for all devices through the MSDN Create hub for those with developer accounts, on June 22/23, with Microsoft set to make the announcement sometime during the next 24 hours. The beta will not be restricted to "favorite" developers but will be generally available to anyone with a paid subscription, and will be able to be loaded on any of the production devices.

No ... a good point and a definative reason to use it instead of Messenger.
Great! Thanks
Cool, I actually just tried to put agile on my wizard yesterday. Everything was lookin good. I signed on AIM and could recieve message, but the ones I sent never made it through. It would also disconnect when the device was in standby for a minute or so, but that was probably the fault of the rom. Use of softkeys would make this program really nice.
great news...
i found that agile did work on my jasjar but the today screen plug in always gave an error..
is there any voip features??? or google talk???
thanks
im so hapey im tring not to cray :,-) i love Agil, sethmw can u add support for cam on Qtek 9000 and Qtek 9100 can u?

Hi,
You were mentioning that Agile is free, but according to the agile mobile website, you have to pay for Agile messenger. So what's up with that? :?:

Will be the new version QVGA ready?

Not to be a stickler, but you mentioned the same "Agile rewrite" story in a few weeks and offered me to be part of a beta in a private message... which I still have, dated October 24, 2005, and you haven't responded to any of my emails or PMs since then.
While I'm glad there's finally some apparent progress, I would have hoped to be part of that development to make sure the next version that comes out isn't going to be riddled with bugs that we'd have to wait weeks at a time for updates...
IM+ seemed to have stopped at 4.04 back when I purchased it in December and I, too, have been emailing them with a bunch of bug fixes and feature requests, also without response.
Let's hope someone pulls through with a decent IM for the Pocket PC platform, finally.

Here, here! This is the one area where windows mobile just doesn't have a really good piece of software at any price.
It's a bummer that it sounds like the promise of a revamped version of Agile hitting open beta soon might be an empty one...
Agile Beta
The reason for the delay in the Beta is the fact that it was an entire re-write. Agile Messenger has been in development for over 3 years now. To expect us to re-write the client for WM 5.0 in 3 weeks is a DREAM.
The new client has been in development since late September and will be available for public Beta in the next couple of weeks. Sending PM's asking for it today is a waste of time, because we do not want to release the Beta until we are internaly satisfied with it as a release candidate. The purpose of the Beta is to work out bugs, not to release a version that is not ready to be used publicaly.
Everyone on this forum will recieve the Beta at the same time, which as I said will be available here in the next few weeks.
Agile Messenger for Symbian phones currently has a license fee in certain markets as we develop our billing network.
Agile Messenger for Windows Mobile will be free for the time being and will eventualy be a licensed product as well.
As I said we have a team of developers that have been working on Agile Messenger for over 3 years now, and we currently support 4 operating systems and over 40 unique devices. I like to think that we provide a product that is better then any of the other solutions out there, and we would like to continue to do that. Therefore at some point it is neccesary to charge a license fee, as unfortunately we can not support a staff of developers over an infinate period of time as a charity.
We appreciate your continued support, and intend to continue to provide a solution that is second to none.
For those of you that expect special treatment and early Beta's it is simply not possible as we intend to provide it to the entire community as soon as our internal devlopment team and quality controll is satisfied that it is ready for public release.
Thanks again, and we look forward to your feedback.

QVGA
In response to the question regarding QVGA, we hope to be releasing a version for WM 5.0 Smartphone devices at the same time as the version for the WM 5.0 PPC based devices.
The new version should support:
Push To Talk
Image Transfer
Emoticons
Group Management
Typing Notification
Support for AOL, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, and Google Talk
Amongst a number of other new features, and an entirely new interface.
There have ben a number of internal builds over the past few months, and we expect to be releasing a Beta very shortly.

Does the fact that you are posting on Universal’s forum mean that there will be a version of Agile messenger specialized for the Universal?
For instance on Nokias you have the option Send picture from new, meaning that the software is aware of the camera on the mobile. The other thing that I was always missing on my Nokia, I believe that on PPCs it is even more needed, is the FILE TRANSFER. Will you make this possible?
Thanx
Can anyone post the new version here as soon it's released. Thanks

Model Release Form App for android idea

I wanted to put this idea of a model release form application up in hope some developer will see the need for this app for the android. They have several of them for the iphone and very useful. There are quite a few photographers out there with androids that would buy an app like this. I have even thought of getting a iphone just for the application.
The best one out there for the iphone is called easy release and I have used it on a friends iphone and it does make getting a model to sign the contract really easy and especially good to have on the fly if you you need to snap a picture and you want to get a release and not have your forms on you.
Sean
I concur. As a photographer and Android user I could really use an application that would allow me to have a model sign a release form electronicaly on my htc hero.
It would be cool if one could link a flickr photograph to this form.
I'm attaching a sample form.
Looks likes easy release that makes the app for the iphone has already developed one for the android and its in beta test right now. I am testing the application right now and its a great app. The signature parts is very smooth and you can get real look signatures. Very impressed.
Just go to their facebook page (easy release) and they are looking for more beta testers

The Android version of Easy Release is now available in the Android Market
The Android version of Easy Release is now available in the Android Market
The new and updated version of Model Release Pal for Android was just released today.
And it's free
"Release Lackey" is now in beta...
I recently released an app on the market for creating model releases as well as other relatively simple legal documents... while it is in "beta" it sells for only 99 cents. The beta period is expected to last for another 4 weeks (until June 13, 2011) or until I'm confident there aren't any strange issues with any of the many Android devices out there.
Search for "Release Lackey" on the Android Market or go to LackeySoft.com with your PC and click on Release Lackey to learn more...
At least while it is in beta I promise refunds for anyone who purchases it and decides it is not for them within 48 hours. Just "email the developer" and I'll give a manual refund through Google Checkout.
I'm always looking for feedback, thanks in advance

What's New in Windows Phone 8.1

This article describes key new features and improvements in Windows Phone 8.1.
"A must read" for all WP developers (but not a hackers of course )
There are lot of "tasty" features in WP 8.1; as for me, it sounds like a great platform improvement without having to upgrade hardware. Hope to get dev preview of WP 8.1 very soon
I've been looking all morning for this article...thanks.

anaheiim, this topic is a little bit different. Article I've posted shortly describes new APIs for developers; it's not a discussion about user experience
P.S. Joke:

You are right, I did not see your link to MS dev blog in your first post.
Dev Preview of 8.1, will be released, of microsoft source during the first half of April.
And WPCentral source, announce April 14.
And for those who did not know (but I think you're all aware), the WP8.1 SDK is officially available in Release Candidate.

Yikes! This Windows Phone 8.1 Update seems to be a whole new OS with a ton of new features and improvements in UI and API.
Still didn't get: do they at MSFT plan to make the Update freely available through Windows Update to exiting Windows Phone 8 customers?

Yes! All Windows Phones can get updated to 8.1. It depends on when (and sadly, if) your carrier releases it. However if you want to get past that, you can just join the dev preview and it'll be downloadable sometime this month. Sources have been saying either the 10th or the 14th. So lookout

I thought MSFT had complete control over which devices get upgraded?
I saw in build conference that they had upgraded even the lowly 520 to 8.1!
Cheers!

I really thought they said (at build) that 8.1 preview was supposed to be available for download today 4/8.
They do. What part of @desolate1's post suggested otherwise? Join the dev preview program and get the update straight from Microsoft (as soon as it releases) while the bits are fresh!
It's only if you want to get it through your OEM and/or carrier that you'll need to wait, and risk disappointment. Reading comprehension, yo!

Android O

OnePlus has always been praised for having clean, near-stock software, and a big advantage of this is that updates are much easier to push out. Case in point: the OnePlus 3 has already received Android 8.0 Oreo via the closed beta group, with the newer 3T and 5 receiving it soon as well. Plus, OnePlus is hoping for an Oreo public beta by the end of September.
Here are few links
http://www.fonearena.com/blog/22907...3-3t-and-5-expected-by-september-end.html/amp
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/0...coming-soon-public-beta-slated-end-september/
http://m.gsmarena.com/oreo_update_starts_rolling_out_to_oneplus_3_closed_beta_channel-news-27150.php
The Shenzhen-based company is reportedly aiming to be seen as "quick to update." It's a bit strange how the OnePlus 3 is receiving this beta before the newer 3T and 5, but hey, it's pretty nice to see this much support for an older device. The 3's build still isn't ready for prime time, with nonfunctional NFC, buggy WiFi, unstable hotspot, and wonky Bluetooth. In a message to the closed beta, the company mentioned that there was a high chance that OTAs/upgrades could go poorly, so many would have to take logs if anything went wrong. The company isn't playing around.
OnePlus is ambitiously gunning for stable builds for the 3, 3T, and 5 by mid-September, with a public beta by the end of September. If everything goes according to plan, OnePlus will almost certainly be the first company to offer an Oreo update to its users. And if anyone from OnePlus is reading this: we know you didn't want the public to know about this, but well done regardless.

L04C567B396 appeared on FF

Today, L04C567B396 appeared on FF, the third update in a month time with no approval for installation for the earlier B394 so far.
With this updae comes two additions and one improvement to the EMUI features plus a new June google security patch.
Again, with this update a hope of eminent EMUI 8 (Oreo) is lost at least for a couple of months if not impossible any time soon in my opinion.
Let's hope that my guess is wrong.
Tell me what do you think in the comments below.
Anyways here's the B396 changelog:
This update reduces Phone Manager's cleanup time to less than one minute, and adds more scenarios to support the one-touch split-screen feature.
[Dual windows]
Adds a button in the Recent apps cards. Touch it to split the screen. This operation is only available for apps that support the split-screen feature.
[System]
Optimizes Phone Manager's cleanup speed and scope. A single cleanup can now be completed in less than one minute.
Optimizes data usage management by allowing you to specify the start date of your data plan.
[Call]
Optimizes Quick calling by enabling speaker mode by default. Press and hold the volume down button to enable Quick calling.
[Security]
Integrates Google security patches released in Jun 2018 for improved system security.

Update 1: Honor skipped B394 to B395 and stated seeding.

Who cares? By the time it's approved it'll be end of July possibly August. Chris (head Dev at honor USA) says they have no control over when it gets approved. We are getting Oreo, and he's getting responses from the beta group about the bootloader issue to give to the higher ups.

I was thinking the same.
Honor support told me we would get it 'very soon' 2 months ago and its likely another two months if they have only just started alpha/beta testing.
Not sure I agree that is 'very soon'.
Personally I'd prefer lineageos so we get future support, but haven't read the other threads to understand why dev support is limited.
Perhaps 'Chris' can release the kernel source for Oreo on the Honor 8, so others can start development in parallel with Honor, or release the camera blobs or whatever is stopping the camera's working.
I think we better stop creating new threads for each patch for specific model .,. its getting really boring.,., i myself created several threads for the patches but no charm now.., especially after oreo in tow..,
admins if we could join all the threads under patch update.,
