by light leak you mean through the casing of the unit or what exactly
When the screen is on but black, as in start up, you can see white light at the edges bleeding through. Many screens have this, a huge problem with Ipad2, but I think it's a defect of sorts.

Light Leak? There are medications like Vesicare to prevent that. Or try Depends.
EVERY tablet seems to have this so why is it a problem?

just b/c everyone has doesn't mean it's not a problem.
mine has no light leak from the sides. how ever at full bright lighter sources bleed into the darker. ie white text light bleeding into the black bg.
but no edge light bleeding.

False. I also own an Acer Iconia A500 and a BB Playbook both with no light bleed whatsoever.

Because the OP doesn't have to settle for it? Light bleed isn't supposed to be on this device if was properly put together.
Just exchange it, hopefully the new one won't have the light leak issue. From reading other topics it's not an issue on all Tabs.

Great to hear!
About to be on my 3rd tab. First had light leek. Second has screen separation.
I want to see a picture of this.
Hopefully the 3rd time's the charm!
what's with all this shoddy qc with tablets? i had 4 xooms and 3 were defective. 3 transfomers - 3 defective. my gt10.1 is perfect thus far, but we'll see if breaks down in another week.

i noticed today that my evo's screen has some sort of light warping near the bottom left corner. i don't have a picture to show, but i'd like to know if anyone else notice something like this. it's most noticeable when the whole screen is white (like a webpage) and then hold the screen in front of you with the top tilted slightly toward you like 20 degrees. i get a little diagonal light warping near the bottom left corner, pretty noticable.
i'm not flipping out too hard because it's not noticable except from this angle. looking at it directly straight on looks perfectly normal. but i want my evo to be perfect!
That is normal the EVO is equipped with a backlight so when you tilt it it will show
its not a hardware issue its normal dont worry..also were did u get ur evo???????
also im the first teen to play with EVO...LOL
i took some pictures, see the diagonal line near the bottom left. that really doesn't strike me as normal!

That's just imperfections with the backlighting for the screen, it happens.
I can see the lights at a angle but I have to turn it completly flat to see the lights. Yours looks like its lighting your screen. My evo does not do that.
damn

I would definitely take that back to the store I got it from if mine did that. Since it's a gift, you might be SOL, unless you go through HTC? Not familiar with warranty stuff like that...
I'd be pissed if that happened to me again. It happened with my Touch Pro and as much as I tried, I couldn't get a replacement or repair. No one would even acknowledge that anything was wrong.
On a very related note, I think it sucks that there is backlight leakage at the bottom of the phone casing. I hope this varies from unit to unit.

My Evo does have this as well.
All EVOs have that light bleed on the bottom. Almost every review has commented on it. They've also said it really isn't a deal killer.
Guess some folks are pickier than others.

It just happens, design flaws. I'm tempted to wait and get a later revision EVO.
I did read about the light bleed before buying. I do not mind the light bleed. Its not that bad on my Evo. I am very happy with overall build. Cant find anything wrong with the manufacturing process on my phone.

the LED leak from the buttons is normal, the bent TFT LCD screen is not. The display should not look like that.
They probably gave out blems at the Google I/O. just kidding.
Funny enuf mine doesn't have the button light bleed at the bottom. I guess I should be happy about that

My EVO does not have any light leakage whatsoever.
I guess you could chalk it up to the Google I/O batch being the first batch of Evos ever produced. After all, aren't they Developer models? I'd imagine the final version meant for consumers would be free of problems such as the light leakage.
I have a speck of light coming out of the C on the HTC logo on top of my screen coming from the screens backlight. I didn't notice it until I was using my phone in complete darkness.
I check 2 other EVO's and they both don't have this issue. Am I the only one?
I don't have the issue. Doesn't seem too serious though.

No, I don't think it's a big issue, I was just wondering if I was the only one.
Think ur def the only one
*This was posted from my Evo 4G*
I have this issue too, but the speck of light comes from near the side of the phone rather than the logo. What did you do to solve it? I'm thinking of putting either electrical tape or paint on it, because it is annoying and distracting.

Turn the light on. LOL
Seriously, if it only happens when in complete darkness, then it's nothing to worry about. But I understand bro, because it's one of those things that once you notice it, it will hunt you for life.
Just took advantage of Best Buy's Free Phone Friday. Unfortunately, I am getting this bizarre screen flicker. I notice it most often in low-light situations, and usually while entering text in whatever app I am in. The flickering has occurred with auto-brightness on and off. The phone is not rooted, and is pretty much "out of the box". Does it seem like I have a dud phone? Could it be the LED backlight?

Yup. It's simply a manufacturing defect with the screen. Be sure to test it completely before you leave the store though. Samsung needs better quality control with these.
I can finally leave limbo and get it in hand tomorrow.
And I heard so many "issues" about the phone,
so before I unlock bootloader and flash thing.
I wanna check the phone completely before risking the warranty
So what is the common "issues" right now?
What I know is:
1. Phone rattle
2. Yellow tint / Too warm display / Dead pixels
3. Buzzing sound
and what else?
Thanks
Appearantly "issue" number 2 (Yellow Tint) is only experienced if you update (OTA) once you receive your nexus. If you don't update you won't experience the yellow tint "issue".
A static noise when in a call, if the phone is super close to your ear you can hear it.

It went from glue to software?
Hmmm, some people complain about the bottom of their device creaking. Like where the screws/usb port/microphone are. Mine does, but its only if I push on it. Holding it normally, there is no issue.

Left - pre ota, right - Post ota. After quadrant they are in reverse. Forget about clarity, just look at the colours. Shot handheld with dslr, so a bit shaky.
Here's your proof that you can see with your eyes that it is ota.

That doesn't even make sense.. I guess they changed the color calibrations in the OTA? Well whatever I just hope and pray that my nexus 4 doesn't have any of these issues.
Don't worry about the color too much. If it could be changed by an OTA then devs will come up with the perfect colors. Think Galaxy Nexus.
There is a small rattle around the camera area if you shake it. Honestly I don't find that a problem since I'm not shaking it constantly.
The buzzing in the earphone/headphone is a bigger problem but not annoying to me. I can't hear it when in calls or listening to music. It's only very pronounced when there is no sound coming out.
I still hope Google itself can have a better tune in the color temp.
About the yellow tint (dots), is it common or just a rare case?
Most likely a rare case, my phone currently has no issues with yellow spots on the screen
what about bleeding sceen i seen 2 spot on top of the screen when in dark room just reminded me of LG G2X.

This is software, kernels are always able to adjust the color balancing and saturation etc once more custom kernels come out this problem will be addressed/fixed.

You'll get that with any LCD really... if it's really bad you might want to see if they'll exchange it, otherwise there's a chance it will be worse if you get it replaced.

Do you have any on your screen??

After using for 2 days,
I finally notice yellow spot on the bottom left corner.
Also, the screen of the upper part is whiter than the bottom part.
I noticed this after I applied screen protector, damn....

Yeah, two small areas on the top of the screen where it just looks lighter than the rest. Not bad compared to most LCDs I've used.

Ya, i notice the whiter color in the second I turned it on.
I am okay with it. That's why I put my SP on it.
But the yellow spot is not...
So I just called for a replacement.
Dang...need to get one SP again
Another thing ( quite obvious ) are admittedly rare [ saw one user in reddit mentioning this] dust under the screen or noticeable dead pixels .
Also check to make sure there are no "bulges" around the sides of the phone where the black backing meets the front bezel. I have a small bulge near the bottom right side of the phone that looks like a little clip failed to engage. I have tried pushing it in to sit flush but it does nothing. I wasn't going to do anything about it since it's not that big of a deal but I called Play support and told the rep the issue. He said he has had a few reports of this problem and recommended an RMA. So I have a new one on the way.
Check this thread for pics of it happening to another guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015676&page=2
In June I bought a Nexus 10 at Wallmart. I am greatly enjoying using this device. It is brilliant. However, I noticed last week that the left side of the screen has become a little yellowish. It is much lighter that the other side. This is especially disturbing whilst reading on a white background or using the keyboard, as the left side keys are lighter than the right side keys.
I there any possible way to fix this? Can I reset the screen? Any help would be welcome.
I believe you've got a bad case of light bleed, You may want to look into a warranty replacement.

Thanks for the response. I thought of that aswell, but testing it with the lightbleed app does not show any unusual bleed. It seems to be the screen itself.

I'd call Samsung and argue with them for a refund. They might not have an official phone option for the Nexus 10 so you'll have to endure what I call "dibblebill's Legacy", that is, being told it doesn't exist and fighting for weeks. :-/
