Download files to specific folder - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I receive files via gmail, is it possible to choose the folder they download to? Id like to put photos I receive in my photo folder and documents I receive in my documents folder. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks

No, I think they go to the download folder, but you can move them using Astro or another file manager

Is there a way to download files from email or web that the phone says aren't supported?

Yes, install a file manager program like Linda File Manager. Go into its settings and make sure "Download Plugin" is on. If you are having problems downloading attachments in the stock email program, don"t use it. Use your browser to go to the real site (like hotmail.com) and then you should be able to download your attachment like on a pc. You still may have to rename a files extension to download your attachment if sending to yourself. I had to rename an apk to a txt to be able to save it to my phone. Then I just went into Linda and renamed it back to an apk file and it worked fine.
Thank you, worked great.

pic files ?

hi is there a way to save a pic and not have it viewed in gallery? i want to keep some pics private
thanks in advance
put all your pictures in a special folder and drop a ".nomedia" file on there. It will stop android from scanning that folder for media. For example, you could have your "private" pictres in a folder called "books", or something else that's boring, add a .nomedia file, and add your pictures. You won't see them with gallery, but you will with a file explorer.
Just put a .foldername
Ex
.hiddenpix
Works the same way as what is post above

[Q] Downloading Twitter photos to Desire Z

I follow a well known celeb on twitter and want to download her photos onto my phone, but when i click on the photo to save it to my phone it says content not supported, no program can open this file, if i do save it, it is a .bin file, your not given the option to rename it.
If i do this on my pc the file gets saved as a .jpg
Any help please??
Thanks
Um, just out of curiosity what exactly are your intentions with said photo?

Just to save it on my phone, in an album. Have found a workaround though, I have to save it on my phone as a bin file, then rename it as a JPG in Astro File Manager, is there no other way?

How to delete temporary files e.g. pdf documents

Hi all,
I have downloaded a number of small pdf files on my I9505 (e.g. gym timetables from web browser and email attachments).
I was just wondering where these are stored so that I can delete them? Or are they automatically deleted after I close the viewing application (I doubt it).
Does anyone know where these are stored and therefore how to delete them?
Thanks
When i download a file its stored in the folder Downloads, on the internal memory.

"Downloads" missing files

I just came from a Nexus 6, and copied the Download folder from the 6 to the 6P to where the "download" folder is at. If I go into "Downloads" there is nothing that I copied over. in gallery "Some" of the pictures are there.....................where am I going wrong?
Thank you
You'll need to use a file explorer to see those. The download folder is for recent stuff you downloaded. Or your folder hierarchy might be download within the download folder
