RoyalGinger is pretty good, it has good battery life and has many themes or you can try my nexus rom if you want a simple vanilla ROM without anything else added.

can you give me a link for easy steps im new to this trying to learn the right way successfully. thank you for your help

just do some research and studying before you start flashing

[REQ] Legend to Slide Froyo AND sense?

Since the HTC legend recently got Android 2.2 Froyo w/ sense, is there going to be someone to port the rom to the Slide?
I love the functionality of sense but I don't want to have to downgrade to eclair to get it.
So if anybody knows about work being done on that or if someone wants to volunteer, please inform me and anyone else who passes by this thread
Its gonna have the same problems as the 3rd sense rom because we don't have the official 2.2 kernel for mytouch slide! Which means I don't think anyone is going to port it! Check out 3rd sense though its stable enough and is the same sense ui

yep, and actually i think 3rd sense is based on a froyo sense rom for the legend called gratiend so thats your rom right there, at least thats what the credits on the thread say..
I am currently running cyanogen mod 6.1 stable for my slide with clockwork recovery. Do I need to flash/install anything else before flashing this rom?

Nope, all you need to do is a wipe before installing it so you dont get any weird errors
Okay thanks I will flash it, froyo aside, are there any REALLY good stable sense roms out there? Not espresso roms but original HTC sense? flash would be nice

this one has flash lite as well... and as far i know this is the best sense based rom you can find for the slide go ahead try it and tell us what you think
Oh man it works amazingly, I had to disable javascript for the browser to run alright though. Otherwise it is an amazing rom. I ran into some less than polite stuff when I posted in the thread, but I suppose I am a noob. Thanks for the suggestion.

The Overcome ROM with the Overcome kernel is probably the best choice assuming you have a GSM Tab as opposed to a CDMA one. Once you install that (the Guide is very good) you can use something like Voltage Control from the Market to Over clock anything up to 1.6 GHz and you can even undervolt it a long way with Overcome, but be careful as always.
Hope that helps
I dont like the touchwiz bloat ao i run cm7 on mine. Bottom status bar, ics theme for cm7 and your set. Also there are honeycomb and IcS ports if you feel like testing out newfeatures of android but they are not daily drivers.

I got the overcome rom with the overcome kernel and things have improved overall. I do have a couple of problems though, I would post in the development thread but as I haven't posted enough I am not allowed to.
The problems I have are the battery seems to be used quicker and I cannot purchase apps off the market.

[Solved]HELP! I need to get back to stock Ginger stuck in 2.2 downgrade with no OTA

After following this guide: wikicyanogenmodcom/wiki/HTC_Glacier:_Full_Update_Guide#Downgrading_to_1.17.531.2
and having second thoughts about Cyanogen, I tried then to unroot my phone, successfuly, now being stuck in 2.2, it will not let me OTA back to gingerbread.
I have no idea what I am doing.
I want to basically just get back to my stock gingerbread.
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264704
but none of the files work because megaupload is gone for good.
What are my options, what exactly do I need to do to get back to my OEM status.

Can I ask why? There are great gingerbread ROM in development section. Sense or AOSP.
If you absolutely want t-mobile gingerbread, ask in the thread for someone to reupload it to file factory or another hosting service.

Well to be honest I think I kinda freaked myself out, this being my first root.
I really want to get back to my stock default T-Mobile gingerbread just so I'm positively sure on how to do it and save the files just in case they go missing again online. (In case I return it to T-Mobile in the future)
Could someone please point me in the right direction on what steps I need to do to go from 2.2 back up to 2.3 with the ability to do OTA updates?
Can you possibly point me out to the best gingerbread rom to check out?
I really was only going to initially root so I can set the CPU speed but now that I saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218386
I can do it right in gingerbread. But I need to get back there

You can follow this guide to return to stock : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244018
You can probably ask there for someone to reupload the t-mo. ROM.

There is no best ROM. You need to give us more detail : what you want or need...
ROM with HTC sense ? Without Sense ? AOSP ? Do you like customization ?
Some well known ROM :
Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 (AOSP)
MIUI
Virtuous Unity (Sense)
...

New to Android & Mods: How am I doing?

It's taken me quite a few hours to figure out my new phone, then learning all this new jargon, rooting and install mods all using a Mac. I'm just curious if there's anything else I could do to give my Defy a little more of a kick. I just read a little about upgrading my OS. Good idea?
Here are my specs:
Model: MB525
Android Ver: 2.3.7
Kernel Ver: 2.6.32.9...
CPU: ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v7I)
Mod: CyanogenMod-7.2.0-Jordan
Build No: GWK74
Also, the only hiccup I seem to find is when turning off (or not having a signal of) WiFi, my data connection doesn't work... unless I reboot. Is this an issue with Defies?
No, updating the ROM is a very bad idea, everybody on xda can tell you that! ^_^ ok just joking!
So if you are already on CM7, you should know how to flash custom roms, so what's the question?
Sent from my MB525 using xda app-developers app
to fix data conection you need install defy baseband changer v4 , select your company and check if the APN configuration is correct

Any suggestions for a newbie? i.e. which OS is the smoothest, any overclocking that would be recommended, ways to keep the battery lasting longer etc. Just general stuff since I'm pretty worn out from all the searching thread to thread so far. Cheers.

What is the correct baseband for the US?
This is what I've found so far:
forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/19285-motorola-defy-mb525/page__st__300#entry235847
Edit: US T-Mobile 3.4.2-107-9 Seems to have done it. I also checked APN and I was on the auto AT&T selection but when I checked my carrier's APN details they were identical, if anything the phone's defaults had more details than my carrier provided!

CM7.2 is the most stable build for Defy, but its pretty outdated,
You can try CM9(ICS), its great. And definitely JB is new, its usable but isn't totally bug-free.
I'd suggest you give those a try and just stick to what suits you best.

Cheers. I may try CM9 but i don't really have any complaints with my CM7. What would you say are the reasons for upping beside having a more recent build?
CM9 is little slow for my .... try Whiterabbit 1.5 o 1.6 is a custom cm7 whit better battery backup
