I'm wondering where the A500 gets the wildly inaccurate temperature that displays in the notifications area? Its so far off it's amusing. Is it accurate on anyone else's tab?
Temp
The temp in my notifications bar is from Weatherbug and it's accurate because I set it to be determined by my GPS location.

My WeatherBug app is not working properly. ie: when I launch the app, the temperature it shows on the screen does not match the temperature shown in the notification bar on the bottom of the screen.
Right now, when I open the app it is showing 85 degrees and sunny, while the temp on the bar says 66 degrees. When I tap the temperature on the notification bar, a small horizontal window pops up saying it is 66 degrees in my city and raining.
Every once in a blue moon the the two temperatures are in sync, but not often.
I removed mine because sometimes it just wouldn't show up on the home screen.
I have the same problem. When you power cycle the device it updates but that's a pain. I like getting alerts but for now I'm not running it while hoping for an update that fixes the issue.
I had the same problem. I just removed the temp from my notification pane. You can still get weather alerts in notification pane without displaying the temp.
I gave up on WB until they fix their app for tablets. I'm sticking with Accuweather for the time being.

How does one remove the temp from the notification bar? Thanks.

Just open weather bug > options > preferences > scroll down to the enable notification (temp notification) and uncheck the box
You get to theoptions by selecting the icon with the three parallel lines by your home and back button on the bottom left of the screen after opening WB.
I came to the S5 from a rooted CM11 Galaxy Nexus. On that device I was using Onguard Weather Alerts for severe weather notifications. It seems that it does not work on my S5 for the "Dynamic Locations". It works just fine and as expected if I specify a static location or locations.
Has anyone noted any issues with dynamic locations/follow me settings in background apps? If you found the issue, what was it?
(Location services is on, and set to high accuracy. Foreground apps seem to be able to use dynamic locations/follow me without issue.)

I can't answer your problem, but I can tell you that Onguard stopped working properly a long time ago. I am a SkyWarn weather spotter in Missouri, and I would not recommend using this app to save your life in severe weather. I recommend signing up for severe weather alert texts from your local National Weather Service office, as well as text alerts from your local tv news station if available.
Hey all, I'm looking for a weather app or module that will give me either a constant notification (like the google weather card but just needs to be constant) or sits somewhere in the quick settings (like the one integrated in CM12 is exactly what I would like). A lot of the apps I have tried do give the constant notification BUT they also keep an icon in the status bar which I am trying to avoid. A small handful, such as BrightWeather, offer the option to hide it and is the current one I am using so far. So does anyone have any suggestions on this?
I think amber has option for blank notification icon
Yeah it does, the only problem with Amber is that despite setting refresh interval to 3 hrs, I wakes my device a lot more often than that. I think it had woken to do something >15 times/hour. Tried to go through all the settings and not really sure what it was doing, but the battery drain was too significant
Apparently Weatherbug is a known "bad battery" App on the 6P. Does anyone have a suggestion for an app that can display the current temp in the notification area without eating the battery?
Weather Timeline is IMO opinion the best weather app out there. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samruston.weather&hl=en
I use Weather Underground. It has a pretty accurate forecast and pretty widgets.

It was recommended to me earlier in the day, and while Weather timeline is $0.99 its probably the best weather app ever that ive come across. So I also recommend it.
Is it battery "friendly"?

I have my location set to a specific location (Example: San Francisco) which means I don't have to have location on, and still update weather info. It doesn't even show up on the processes under battery stats and I've had the app this whole day. So imo, yes, very battery friendly, but it depends on how you use it.
I use the AccuWeather app. It is very minimal on battery life and I have location enabled. Its also very accurate and is what most of the other apps use as their weather source anyways.
Hi,
On Oreo, permanent notifications are collapsed/reduced.
Is there a way to get them expanded all time?
I think about GSam battery monitor and EXKM notifications.
Actually, I figured out a way for EXKM, in settings, changing notification priority to a level higher than min seems to work but there's a notification icon added on notification bar.
Any way to remove icon or this is a "limitation" of Oreo?
Thank you.
