I'm flashing Sprint Lover's (3.70.651.1) back on my phone because so far every 2.3 ROM that I've flashed (on my phone) has had issues of spotty connectivity, degraded signal quality and general SMS/MMS sporadic problems.
(CM7, MikG and the Sprint push)
Is anyone getting this? Could just be my phone...

They have a new update out.
Did you update your radios to the latest?
That could resolve it.

Without being able to use a custom Kernel, I don't see any reason to go to Gingerbread. Kernels are the only thing that actually makes your phone have better battery life, ROMS are great for looking great, but for battery ill wait!
You should try Synergy. Myn has it done right. Super snappy, everything works. Check out his warm 2.2 thread in development. I miss the looks of warm 2.2, but Myn will have them on 2.3 soon enough I'm sure.
Welcome back.... fresh 3.501 with sbc kernel.

It may just be your phone. I'm on the newest MikG and have had no probs and in fact have had way better signal strength and my mms is sending and recieving great. The last MikG 1.04 had a few random reboots and sense restarts but been running MikG 2.0 since it came out and no probs yet

That's misinformation, sir. Kernel's are NOT the only thing that improves battery life.
No issues on my end - Running Kings Alliance R6.2
Hardware - 003
Hboot - 2.10
Radio - 2.15.00.11.19
Pri - 1.90_003
Prl - 60679
Recovery - CW 2.6
I still run my own 3.70 based custom rom. It's doing the trick still.
3.70 still.....ehhhhh....not so much lol. I couldn't possibly go back after GB.

I want to get GB on my phone mainly for the ability to install the equalizer app (DSP manager) to tailor my sound. I just rooted 2.2, though so I'm going to get a feel for this first.

I'm almost positive that the 2.3 OTA doesn't have the DSP manager.
And in reply to the op... I'm still running Fresh3.5.0.1(?)
I'm waiting for custom kernels to be released before I jump to 2.3

In my opinion, Fresh Rom 2.0d followed by DarchLegend.
Ill put my hat in Fresh's corner. I used damage's rom as well. You cant really go wrong with either.
I've tried DC 2.05, 2.06, 2.07, and 2.07.2 and each one becomes unusably slow after just a couple of hours. I don't know why. I would literally wait 10 seconds for the Settings menu to show up.
I switched to Fresh this morning and so far it's running well. Not as well as DC 1.0 did (I have no idea why the Eris ROM is so much faster) but well.
I've been using DarchLegend for a while now, and it is by far my favorite. Especially with visual voicemail working in the latest release, it is a very solid rom. But you just have to try them. Make a nandroid backup, then just start wiping and flashing like crazy
im trying to download it but it says could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. contact server or admin why is this
honestly, none of the current 2.1 roms cut it for me because of several issues including the audio loss. if you want a 100% working/stable/fast rom go with pancake 1.5.
I'd say fresh's feels the most stable
I do have a place in my heart for darch's AOSP so I am going to say that's my favorite, hopefully he gets that update out soon.

Right now I would have to say Fresh then Damageless. I find myself using both more than all other dev's ROMs but Fresh's ROMs always seem to give me the least hassle and run the smoothest. I love trying them all out though. I am addicted to flashing ROMs and modding my phone.

My main issue with all the 2.1 roms is the battery life..it flat out sucks.
I'll plug my phone in and check it about every hour and see its gained about 5% battery life. Yay! If I can turn my phone on and the battery loses 2% while im looking at it, its useless to me.
I'm running Pancake 0.1 with Sense and even on heavy use I get easily 20+ hours out of it. Yesterday I unplugged my phone at 8 in the morning and I sit here at 4pm the next day with 5% battery left. On a smartphone? WOW!
Time to plug it in!
man fresh rom has so many problems keep gettin force close apps audio problem doesnt ring and hate the thing when i make a call i feel vibration
ive never had any problems with any of fresh's roms most stable by far! ive been using darchlegend for the past week, and i love the new widgets no problems at all except my 5.0 doesnt have vvm i havent upgraded to 5.0.5 yet.
hey u live in my area im in miami .. but yea i put it on and i did the wipe i keep getting error that says force close things also i couldnt hear my ringer .... im trying the [ROM](1ST with all recent fixxes built into one rom)DamageR_2.7 but do i suppose to update my radio??? ima noob
my votes for regaw. Been stable for me no problems
I'm guessing that a good handful of us enjoy using our Vibe's in stock config, and only wish for "good" performance with less instance of lags, burps etc. We drool over the idea of rooting, applying OCLF and such things, but don't want to risk a blowout! IE, "Add another brick to the pile".
Myself, I'm choosing to wait for the Froyo update - before committing to a root/lag fix attempt.
Can we have sum input on what might be anticipated with the 2.2 update a far as performance for the Vibe? Has NE1 managed to put Froyo on a stock Vibrant - if so, I venture that an "In House" eval would be appreciated by many
Running froyo right now. There was just an unofficial leak of the tmo froyo for our vibes, and the fixes are being ported to existing roms, and being used as source for new builds as well. Its here, and its frozen goodness. A little research (ok maybe not a little, know what youre doing before you do it, make sure you can get into recovery and dl mode, and read read read) before you flash, and soft bricks can be either avoided or easily recovered from. Check out the Vibrant Android Dev forum here at xda to see your icy opions. I prefer Eugene's Macnut myself, there are a couple of other flavors currently that are nice in their own ways, but you gotta try em to find out.
Performance wise, the stock tmo froyo leak itself is faster and smoother than eclair running oc with any lag fix in my experience. The custom froyo roms (macnut and such) are even faster, with no lag fixes applied or existing ones disabled.

I used to be all about rooting. Had a Hero when it first came out for Sprint. Loved flashing new ROMs and what not. Had CM6 on it before I jumped ship to T-Mobile and the Vibrant. I had rooted but always ended up going back to stock ROM because I like the way it looks and with launcherpro it seems to run better than Touchwiz. Ive yet to find a ROM on here that I really like. I Odined back to stock for the JI6 and Have been running it ever since.
I will probably re-root when the official 2.2 comes out but Im playing the waiting game on these leaked ROMs.
As far as the leaked 2.2 roms go, I'd have to say that I am currently running onyx by teamwhiskey, and it is awesome! It has a lot of fixes but still feels very much like stock.
You should give that a try, oh and don't worry about bricking your phone, odin is your friend and the anti-bricker!

Oynx is fugly, and JK2 is a bit too buggy and unrefined in general. It's OK if you want to try it but you'll probably go back to the smoothness of JI6. Apps install better with FroYo but the phone lags badly with any launcher for some reason. I'm waiting for the official release. I also got some odd "No Internet Connection" errors but that might be my fault.

i take it you don't use wifi calling then? in macnut r10, wifi calling gets stuck at enabling (which is one of the reported problems in that thread).
OP: I have the ODIN froyo running on my vibrant right now. It's nice and smooth for me (and will be for you too if you haven't been running lagfixes in 2.1). I get nice battery, and nice reception. a plus for me, is i can turn off data (since i don't have a data plan) and not use battery constantly trying to communicate with 3g/edge.
The only thing i notice on 2.2, is the occasional lag. but that's about it.
Is there a limitation when installing apps? When I was trying ROM's last night and installed apps, it seemed like I was limited to about 3 app download/install at a time?

Nope, I do not use wifi calling. Seeing how that is new to the phone, I woud expect it to be buggy. The next release from Eugene shoud be based on jk2, might fix that problem. We can't really expect the new fuctions from tmo to be perfect until we get an official release.

Just try to update profile and update prl and see if that works. You should do that after flashing.
I did it but my 3G speeds are bad. I ran a speedtest while in a good 3G service area and was getting 0.4kbps down. I would like to go back to the stock Sense rom but dummy me didnt back it up.
I'm also experiencing the same issue(s)
I totally agree with ropodope. It can definitely be the rom, I used the original Miui and noticed I had poor reception where I would normally have good reception. It could be the radio or maybe even the kernel, my suggestion would be try different roms and kernels because you can find what works best on your phone.
Good luck.

Yes you can download updated radios or previous radios to find your trouble spot. Just dl them to your sd card and flash as you would a rom or a kernel. Wipe your cache and dalvik cache first. Wait a couple of minutes to allow the radio to write the image. When done flashing, just reboot. The radios are on here. Just do a search.

You have any suggestion on getting a good radio to flash?
You should try downloading rom manager from the market. I'm sure there is a few stock evo roms on there. If you can't find a rom that is to your liking you can check the roms in the evo 4G development forums here on XDA. Be sure to read about the roms and what others are saying about the rom before you flash. A lot of the time I find that after seeing 10 to 20 people complain about the same or similar issues I wouldn't be satisfied with that rom, but that's just me.

As far as 3g I have tried this fix with good results:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
To be honest, Ive had bad reception with PRI 1.77 and 1.90. Also my roms are varying day to day i try new ones.
roms i think are good are MikZ, mikG, Evokings and other sense roms.
When I got my phone in January I had GREAT signal here at work. I noticed that after I rooted it I lost that great signal. Now I'm back to 1-0 bars all day. I think something in the rooting process screws the signal, I don't know much about it so I'm not sure what that could be. All I know is before I rooted my phone I sat at work with 3g signal in the basement of the building. After rooting I'm lucky to get 2 bars in the parking lot. I ran just the rooted stock for 2 months hoping it would magically clear itself up but of course it didn't
I've tried 3 ROMS so far. Fresh 4.0, MikFroyo & VaelPak. Of the 3 I seem to get a slightly better signal with VP.

Srf 1.2.0 or if your going for gingerbread I still like acs bamboozled

They are ALL good. Just depends on what you want.
Why do so many people ask the same question? It is like the exact same question and nothing has changed in over a month. Best ROM is ALWAYS a matter of opinion and what works for you. Just read the threads for each ROM and find out what problems it comes with and what improvements are in there and decide if it is right for you. Some wipe all bloatware and Sprint apps, some don't, some have themes and some don't....gotta read.
Yup, its all about personal preference. Also, ROMs behave differently on each phone. I couldn't get SRF 1.0 or 1.1 to work right ever on my Epic but 1.2 works great. Yiu really have to try them out

Best that I've Used
The best ROM that I have used is the ERA OLYMPUS ROM. It feels very stable and is extremely fast. It might be a placebo but it feels like the GB ROMs are much snappier than stock Froyo. I did change out the theme on the ROM though. The Stockish ROM was cancelled but the ACE theme that is linked to on the page looks really nice. I also flashed Chris' updated EH17 Plus kernel onto this. so far I've had to redo the ROM a few times but that has been mostly due to my own negligence, such as swapping SD cards with my friend's Droid X about 20 times in one day while trying to help him fix it. One good thing is that I may only have a random reboot 2 or 3 times a day. I can deal with that. Overall I really like this ROM and it is just as good as any stock OTA GB that may come out in the future.
I haven't tried many, but I have SRF 1.2 now, and it's awesome. Well worth it to try it out IMO.

You can flash the zip anytime, on or off. I am not sure exactly how it works, but basically with it off anytime your battery dies, or comes out or phone shuts off any way other than holding power, when you restart you will have uncontrollable force closes. With it on you lose a pinch of performance (not really noticeable) but you will not worry about the force close issue in case anything happens.
Most of us suggest having it on.

Journaling costs you a little speed but helps you data from getting corrupted in case of a bad shutdown, bad flash, battery falls out, ect. I always turn journaling on.

thanks for the response.
believe it or not, I actually haven't had any unplanned shut downs since flashing to SRF 1.2 (along w/Genocide 1.1) a few months back but, lately (as in the last few days), I've noticed that my battery performance has really dropped. in addition, my phone has exhibited some occasional flakey behavior: one in particular is making a phone call, seeing that I'm connected (call timer starts ticking away), but hearing total silence. the person on the other end receives a call from me but they can't hear a damn thing from my end. this problem is only corrected with a reboot or shut down. I was curious if my not having journaling enabled could be accounting for any of it. like I said, these issues are recent, and I do live in an area now with considerably worse Sprint coverage than before. For example, in my apartment, I can't even get a reliable Sprint signal. Without my Airvana (which has huge issues with maintaining a consistent lock onto the GPS) I couldn't even really use my phone without roaming on Verizon.
anyway, just a bunch of stuff that's been bugging me and I'm not entirely sure what to do about it.
Sometimes booting into recovery and wiping Cache partition and Dalvik Cache will free up the performance. Its my understanding that over time it can build up causing lag or stuttering..well general performance loss. Anyhow, here's the journal on zip in case you need it..

Honestly ReVolt, SRF 1.2 and Urban Regeneration are all great. Regen is themed blue with apps added and some custom sounds, ReVolt is leaner with a custom kernel based off of Genocide 2.0, SRF 1.2 has a lot of under the hood tweaks that I am not familiar with. Revolt has Hotspot hack baked in lasted version. It is a flashable add on for the other two. They are all excellent choices

Sometimes booting into recovery and wiping Cache partition and Dalvik Cache will free up the performance. Its my understanding that over time it can build up causing lag or stuttering..well general performance loss.

is there any danger in doing that?
Nope, its even recommended to do this once a week.

ok thanks. I'll give it a shot.
I have a Fascinate running a "PowerWashed" FroYo build. This has been running fine for months, but the past few weeks, I occasionally don't receive calls. I'll get a notification for a new voicemail, but no missed call on record.
This didn't bother me too much until yesterday. My wife and baby were in a car accident (rear-ended by a 23 year old, texting of course....) My wife repeatedly called me. The calls never made it. Only after frantically calling me time and time again did she leave me a voicemail, which I got the notification for.
Could this be a problem with the rom? The radio? I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to spend a lot of time flashing new stuff if I don't need to. If I have to flash anyway, I sure wouldn't mind flashing an ICS build if there is a stable enough one for Fascinate.
This has been an ongoing issue ever since Froyo was released. Verizon says it was supposedly fixed in ED05 but reports are mixed on whether or not it is. Also people say this is worse in areas where LTE is present but I don't know how substantial that is.
What version of Power washed are you running? Have you tried upgrading to an EH03 from like Superclean3 or GeeWiz 2.4.2 or 2.5?

I would update the radio to EH03, because it is a reliable radio version. I had a similar problem but with my version of ICS because the radio the ROM came with was jacked up.

ICS builds not come with a radio...its uses the radio you previously had.
Must have been a different one then, but either way using stock radios does insure greater reliability

its the same radio if you would ota the stock update or flash the radio via odin. it was pulled directly from someones stock. so im not too sure what you are talking about when you say "stock radios insure greater reliability"

geewiz or scms2 are good ideas, pair them with either kgb or geewiz kernel and your phone will fly. either use ec09 or eh03 modem. imo eh03 is faster and ec09 is more reliable when it comes to not switching from 1x to 3g.

The rom I used is "powerwash v1.2 testkernel 08152011". So, I guess it's a bit old. I want a rock-solid rom with 100% incoming call reception success. ICS preferred of course, but would take Gingerbread if the call reception is more solid.

Just flash the ec09 or eh03 radio...when i ran powerwashed froyo, i used imnuts pbj kernel with ec09 radio. Rock solid setup with no missed calls. But yes upgrade to something like superclean3 with kgb kernel or cm7.2 with glitchv13.1
I can't seem to find just the EH03 radio. Where can I get this? Also, can I flash through Clockwork, or do I have to do this with ODIN again?

Thanks everyone. I flashed EH03 with directions on post #3 here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...tom-roms-w-root-clockwork-updated-3-25-a.html
Hopefully I start receiving all calls again.
