Atrix Notification drawer hangs - Atrix 4G General

I use Motoblur and no P-ROM. I have been observing since a few days that my notification drawer hangs when i do screen unlock. So when i swype down the screen is hung and unresponsive. However, when I use the capacitive touch buttons it again becomes responsive after few seconds.
Also, the new email notification from the default Motoblur email client is now shown as a blank space in the notification bar.
I don't know what has changed in the few days, as phone is hanging too much and going for quite often reboots. I never had reboot issues earlier. Can someone help me find the culprit.

Anupam

Which Atrix version/Carrier?
Have you installed any 3rd party apps lately?
Honestly, you're probably looking at a factory reset of you haven't done/installed anything unusual recently...

I am on At&t Atrix 4.1.83 and on o2-de.
I had installed few third party apps but I uninstalled all of them, fearing they might have been causing things to hang.
I feel the culprit is the email client, because the notification bar hangs on new email notification. Is there any other way except factory reset. It will take a long time for me to setup everything again.

I had the problem with the notification bar from the beginning. When i get a new email and I unlock the phone and swipe down the notification bar it doesn't work on the 1. attempt...the second is successful. No idea what causes it....I am on my second Atrix and both had this problem....software glitch I guess...

Serious Facebook Panel Problem

Hi, is anyone having problems with the facebook panel? when typing username and password, then sliding the phone back to portrait before pressing login; the phone freezes (inc. hardware) also some more freezing during loading of images etc. I haven't seen anyone else with problems, but i have a feeling it maybe to do with the wifi being on, so i'll try it now without wifi and on mobile web.
regards,
Joel
RE:
Definitely an issue with wifi and the facebook panel. I've tried using wifi and facebook panel while sliding before pressing login and every time if freezes, but not problem on mobile web :s.

Please report the issue here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?p...3#/apps/application.php?id=38125372145&ref=mf
When facebook panel is active on my phone, it constantly locks up
Its weird, It worked fine at first but now it keeps locking up.
I got the same problem, except it is when i'm using mobile data (3g, gprs etc). Happens most often when the fb panel is downloading (rotating circle in upper right is spinning).
Reckon its to do with the data connection. Bit of an irritation really, u never know when its gonna lock up and require a open+battery+cover+and+soft+reset operation..
when the main bubble page opens..there is a mild lag in the friends bubbles floating around..but i have no other problem with facebook app.
mine works fine, but did lock up once a while back
got same rpoblem here. facebook hangs and I have to remove the battery and place it back
locks up here too... and when you push the panel button to try and pick a different panel, it doesn't work either, the whole things just freezes. And as ehajj said, you have to remove the battery at that point. Nothing else works.
I'm new here, got my Xperia yesterday.
Having the same problem with the Facebook Panel.
Phone freezes when trying to change from facebook panel to another panel
Me too... panel freezes when trying to change to another panel.
I've experienced this problem so many times, and wrote it here...but no one answered...no replies...
So, only now I've discovered that I'm not alone after all...
it is notoriously bad for freezing a phone. I would have thought that the new updated CAB for the facebook panel would have fixed it, but it still isnt perfect.
There is an updated facebook panel now (available at the SE website); since installing that, I haven't had the problems with it locking up.

Problem after problem with HD2.

Hey guys, I love my HD2 but recently ive been having some terrible issues.
I text alot and it really irritates me that when i go to type a text it takes 30 seconds to allow me to do so, it will just be completely unresponsive for those 30 seconds.
Then also anytime i go to change the keys to " £ $ ? symbols and numbers it jumps the cursor back randomly so im still typing before i realise its typing in completely the wrong place.
Im also having the phone do random things without me letting it, it removed the lock screen by itself which i cannot get back and before that it was automatically changing the background and the weather service would randomly select strange citys?
Hi,
sounds like things have gone askew, maybe if all else fails you can do a hard reset (ensuring you back up any data you need first).

That's the SMS load delay bug that has been discussed a lot on these forums. It occurs whenever you have more than a few messages from a person, and the phone tries to load all the old sms messages from that person, but it does it extremely slow. HTC may or may not be aware of it, the hotfix on their site for SMS doesn't seem to fix it. At the moment, your options are to delete SMS history, or to disable HTC Messaging and using Microsofts default SMS (requires regsistry hacking).

Some people have reported that they got an overly responsive screen, I would suggest you try and replace your phone (or simply return it like I did because you can never trust a SMS message has been sent when you send it with HTC Messaging, another bug without solution). The wether
services choosing odd cities might be because of yet another bug that fails to correctly pinpoint your location for the weather app.

I have this fault, and I think it started after the text messaging hotfix, I am going to uninstall; that fix and see if it solves the problem. Have you installed that fix?
Nope, that didn't fix it - is anyone else experiencing this? When I click on the ""12#" (symbol) hey, the cursor jumps back to a point earlier in the test message. Usually it jumps to the last place that I pressed that button.
This only occurs in the HTC SMS Messaging.
I uninstalled the SMS hotfix and restarted the phone but it's still occuring.
Got the same problem here with the cursor jumping back using "12#". I have installed all latest official HTC updates, but none have solved this problem. Really annoying ;(
Anyone got a workaround or custom fix for this?

You can use myphone to back up and archieve your text messages regularly. This will then delete them off your phone but you can still access them on the web if you want to. Keeps the number of messages low and solves the delay problem.

Me too, i got the same problem!
The last thing i installed was the sim contact update.
But at the moment i dont know if i have the problem before that update..
to type immediately without the 30s delay, simply press send and then no then tap again and you should be able to immediately type.
I do also have the number/symbols bug and it annoys the hell out of me! would love anyone that could find a solution to this!

List of bugs found in Froyo, please add them here

Please put all the bugs you have found in Froyo in this thread and eventually this can be forwarded to HTC.
Edit: the push functionality seems to be working to some capacity.
- Crash/force close -
Internet Browser
*Issue: When selecting accept all plugins in the settings for the stock browser it will force close on execution
**Work around/solution: Select to clear all data in the application settings for the browser
- Loss of functionality -
Email App/Widget
*Issue: Push email not working as before. The email will sometimes fail to sync (when other mail clients can sync) and push communications is sometimes only one way (phone to webmail)
- Non-verified bugs/issues -
Google Earth
*Issue: Google Earth App not available on market
I am expiriencing a very bad performance of SenseUI after upgrading to froyo. Everything is slower than it was before?
very bad performance if I use live wallpapers.
thats all for now^^
The browser has a few issues - when a page is still loading, there is a refresh button instead of a stop button, and copy and paste is very buggy.

I think it would be best if users post what ROM they're using...
But back on topic: Sometimes my sense restarts with no error report/popup whatsoever...
All my alarms were resetted... Could be just my phone, I dunno, but quite annoying if I hadn't noticed
All my alarms where reset aswell....but that's not a big problem to me. What is, is that also my entire agenda/calendar was wiped. :/
And it does seem froyo is loading stuff (like picture preview tiles, app lists, setting menus, the folder list in 'Pictures' app, etc.) a lot slower then eclair. And I'm not even running an animated wallpaper.
Let's go!
- Although Froyo is way faster for everthing, sometimes (i mean often!) my phone starts to slow down and i've unfortunately to reboot my phone..
- The music app has become resistant to task killers (at least on my phone). Probably like a bacteria to antibiotics??
Some surprises:
- Fonts are more beatiful to read, especially the text under icons (that striked me when I just updated)
-My greys are not pinkish anymore!!!
- Fonts on the SMS app are a bit bigger and it's really better (but the textfield is not as beautiful as before), and we have photos like on handcent on the conversations list.
I will not list everthing because there is a topic on the desire forums but i hadn't read that.
As I have mentioned in my thread everything works fine for me howeverwhen called or trying to call the other side does not hear my voice

same here its slower then before...also app drawer is laggy.
Try removing the live backgrounds, it works like a charm without it.
Go around the loss of push email by installing a non HTC phone's mail.apk.
I have the 2.1 Milestone and it works beautifully.

Im running the de-branded UK Vodafone Froyo ROM and honestly have to say there are no issues with speed at all. Even with live wallpapers running, all homescreens remain fast and smooth, as does the app drawer.
I did do a fresh install however with a full wipe, I then used TitaniumBackup to restore alarms, SMS messages, etc when done
Did not wipe or factory reset, just installed froyo. Everything works fine. No speed issues, my weather started working correct again, push mail works fine. And after living with sms bug for one whole day, i'm very happy to say it's gone... So suprisingly nothing to complain about yet.
New day, new bugs.

Wifi Connection
*Issue: An active wifi connection will stop working properly if the phone has been in sleep mode for some time. The wifi connection symbol will still be displayed (and always at the same level of reception (in my case full)) and the email clients will not warn of lack of connection and instead try to sync for ever.
**Work around/solution: Change wifi policy settings in settings - wifi - menu button - advanced from 15 minutes to something else. This might work to some extent, otherwise solution is to disable and re-enable wifi connection.
Hi, one annoying detail after updating: my 'Gmail Unread Count' widget has suddenly started to launch the Gmail app opening the most recent message, instead of opening the inbox.
When I launch Gmail directly from the apps list, it opens the inbox as it should. 'Course this issue is not related to Froyo, but I imagine I'm not the only one dependent on the 'Unread Count' widget. Anyone experiencing the same?

I'm experiencing extreme performance degradation after the upgrade to Froyo!
I'm running an unbranded HTC Legend, stock rom, upgraded via Systems Software Updates OTA, I'm running ADW and Handscent. Other that that, it's stock. (3.15.405.3)
People are complaining that they can't hear me properly! This is the biggest concern I have so far!
Switching between Home Screens is slower, it hangs and it's less responsive. (Swipe, hangs for a second, then moves)
Using the back button to exit apps is very VERY slow. (Handscent is almost unusable)
Opening apps is slower. When pressing app, it zoom towards the screen faster, but hangs afterwards.
Scrolling in almost every app/widget is slow and lags!!!!!!
Entering the lock screen pattern is very slow
Scrolling the app drawer is very slow
It appears it's mostly a scrolling issue?
Another thing is that lock screen does not always work. The screen goes off and when I enable it again, I get right to the first home screen. Ie. no lock pattern. (FOUND IT : It now says "lock screen after 5 minutes"....so I set it to immediately.)
Also using "Gmail Unread Count" widget goes straight to first message, not the inbox. Does not matter if the message is already read.

Try going into the WiFi settings, then press the menu button and choose advanced. You will find WiFi sleep options in here. Choose the second or third option as you see fit. I've not tested it but I think it may solve your problem.

I experienced the slowness briefly, but after rebooting a couple of times it seems fine - if anything actually much faster! Not sure what exactly is causing the problem though...

Messaging shortcut flickering

Hello everyone, quite the newbie here so please be nice.
I'm in love with my Xperia arc. It has an amazing camera, I'm loving Android, and it's been mostly a breeze so far. A few hiccups and crashes, but nothing major.
My complaint here is minor, but nonetheless it's distracting. Whenever I receive an SMS, I pull down the notification bar and open the message. I reply, or sometimes I don't, but whenever I'm done with the message (either after sending the message and the conversation window closes by itself, or when I press the back/Home button if I don't reply), when I go back to the homescreen, the Messaging icon on my shortcuts tray flickers. It's always like that. Now it just flickers for a fraction of a second and it doesn't really get in the way of functionality, but it's just really annoying!
Is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Minimizing issue with LS997ZV9

After getting the Android 7 September 2017 security patch on my LS997 (Sprint V20), I am having a recurring issue that is driving me nuts. Any menu I bring up that overlays the rest of the screen (think swipe-down menu or Messenger chat head) is "minimizing" on its own randomly. For example, I swipe down to get the menu icons and now it's scrolling back up on its own before I touch anything. Or, I'll be using Messenger's chat head function to open a message and, in the middle of reading or even typing, it just closes back to the chat head. It's super aggravating if I'm in the middle of typing when it closes because then I hit another icon that opens some app I had no intention of opening.
It doesn't seem like it's doing this to anything that opens in its own separate window, just these sorts of menus that overlay anything else that's already up. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on a fix? I'd appreciate the help!
This is also occurring for me after the update. Extremely aggravating. Happening for family members with V20's too.

Sorry to hear it's happening to you too but glad I'm not going crazy thinking it's just me. Seems like this is an issue with the "draw over other apps" setting, perhaps? I've submitted reports to LG and Facebook, though this is happening with the stock OS swipe-down menu as well. LG got back to me and suggested I try putting the phone in Safe Mode and seeing if the issue persists. During my testing, this did not occur again while in Safe Mode. Upon returning to regular mode, the issue continued. LG stated that behavior suggests it's not part of the system and may be due to an installed app. I've tried uninstalling Messenger updates but it won't allow me to use it without running the most current version. I went into app settings and turned off "draw over other apps" for every app but Messenger but the issue persists.
Short of doing a factory reset, I'm not sure what else to do to get this to go away. Help would be appreciated!
