So I just got a text from a buddy of mine saying his boss's epic updated OTA to 2.2 this morning. His hasn't updated, yet, and I'm still on DK17, so mine won't. We're all in middle TN. If anyone else gets the update, chime in and let us know.
I know everyone here is tired of all the rumors. The wait may finally be over.
I live in DC, but have a Memphis number. Do you think its worth it for me to flash back to DI18 this evening? Right now I am really enjoying DK28 after getting the screen rotation fixed...
Personally, I'm going to wait until I see more people get the update. If you're happy with the rom you have, then you might as well wait, too. I want to minimize my time waiting with a stock phone.

Get your buddy to ask his boss to check his hardware version. Don't want a repeat of the .4 vs .5 issue =P
The both got their phones at the end of October, a few weeks after I got mine. I know my friend's is a .5. I'd be shocked if his boss somehow got a .4 phone.
Samsung hasn't released anything on their twitter feeds or support feeds about a ota update. They are still saying by the end of the month.

Right? I hate to get everyone's hopes up for nothing if this isn't right. If I hadn't been told by someone I trust, I wouldn't have bothered starting the thread. I'm ready for this thing to finally drop and source to come out so everyone here can get down to business.
Sad thing is, we're all so fed up with getting our hopes up that none of us are flashing back to DI18 to see if we get the update lol

I already did. I'm waiting for him to relay the request to his boss and get back to me.
edit: just got a response. He says his boss's phone has DK28 with 2.2.1. His phone hasn't updated, but he says the update check is failing for him. :-/ I wish I could see it for my own eyes instead of relying on second hand information.

So his boss was on complete stock DI18, got an update notification, updated, and now has DK28?
Also, make sure its not hardware .4, some people randomly got them from buying em at the store.

I have been paying attention and that is not what I read. He said his bosses phone is on 2.2.1 DK28 and that he got an update notification but did not update and now is not getting any hits with and update check.

the date is 2/1/11, so i think it could be very recent, however, you dont really know...
in the mean time i think we should complain to samsung on their twitter n fb pages along with sprints.
I believe thats an old article the update zip they have is DK28
Yeah that is just Dk28 :/

2.2 is coming soon hopefully
Very nice article for those looking to update to dk28 =)
It might not be I was told by sprint today it was released for beta testing for a select few
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
i guess ill give it a try and see if its any different, lol and ur welcome i try everyday to see if there is any updates, but im hoping this is the actual beta, well technically it would be a beta of a beta since we already have a dk28, but nonetheless i will give it a run for its money and see if its the same old crap or what.
actually when i tried to download the file, its around 90mb, so i think it could really be a beta update, cuz all the other dk28 roms are around 140 or so, even the leak was around that much. Im prolly gonna have to go back to RFS though
wow, i went back and found that the date of this page is indeed 1 February 2011!
yes...thats why i posted it cuz the date was 2/1/11 like i stated in my original post, now for the question of undoing ext4 and going back to rfs...wish this wasn't a pain in the ass

Its not the beta. its good news but not beta good news. Its just saying that the people who are in the beta got the OTA push for testing, but in the meantime...hit up the 2.2.1...
So it would be double the good news for people who didnt know about the DK28..but its kinda slap in the face for people who have been waiting since the beginning and are already on DK28...
We should all honestly foget about froyo...I called it in the beggining of decemberthat we wouldn't see froyo till feb and even I don't be that anymore...its never coming period
got the dk28 with ext4 already...im just wanting the source code thats all
and i think we can get froyo if we make a unified effort to complain to samsung and sprint on their online pages

Oh, I see that the Sprint admin posted that.
Hopefully that is a typo and he meant 9AM. A couple people have already gotten the update.
I guess you go to about phone and update firmware and if the firmware is ready it will give it to you?
Personally I am doubting that the rumors of anyone getting the update already are true. I can't imagine that with as many people who are watching and waiting for this that nobody who is on any of these forums has gotten anything yet.
I have been sitting here toggling back and forth between forums thinking just that and then I saw the 9pm time and it all made sense.

Been gone from the Eris side for almost a year now. Wanted drop a gift for everyone tonight.
We have been working on this since we got the dev Thunderbolt phone. This is a merge of 2.1 Stock Eris and the 2.2 Thunderbolt rom. Brings the new Sense from thunderbolt along with HTCSense.com compatibility from the DesireHD.
Fast, smooth and basic. Beyond that, nothing else really to day.
Don't let sense scare you off, ask the "old timers", when I drop a rom (rarely) you know its good.
As always, do a nandroid backup before flashing. Tested with amon ra's recovery. I take no responsibility for failing to backup, or damaged caused by my work. </disclaimer>

Having trouble getting SU permissions for anything. redownloaded the latest superuser, nothing happens. It goes to a blank black screen rather than asking for root rights. Ditto for using terminal and typing in the "su" command. Anyone else?
Also the firmware version is 1.5 (cupcake)?
I can attach logcat if you need it

That was my initial thought when I first loaded it up with the bootani, but then I thought, no way is a respected XDA dev like jcase gonna mess around like that with an entire ROM. Not getting SU access + the rickroll bootani makes for pretty strong evidence though

Technically even a rooted stock sense phone should receive the update as the updater isn't turned off/removed. At least thats the way the Eris worked. Unless unrevoked somehow turns off the updater when it roots the phone which I'm not aware of.

Alot of the Dinc ROM developers did turn off the updater back when the Froyo OTA was announced due to annoying, constant pop-ups. At least I know that rmk40 did with Virtuous.
This just added over at Android Central:
"Just got word about how the over-the-air rollout's going to take place. The push is scheduled to start Tuesday, Aug. 16, with an initial 10,000 updates. Another 50,000 will get it on Wednesday, and everybody else on Friday."

If you made a backup of your phone right after you rooted and before you installed a custom ROM like I did then what I'm saying is if you restore this first backup then you should get the update.
