It's that time again when I'm feeling I should update to a new ROM but there always seems to be so many. Can anyone tell me if it's worth me updating a rom new than my current one which is: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK. I've been having problems with runkeeper lagging and I wondered if it's still important to apply lag fixes as I'm not using one anymore.
Install XXJVP
I have been using xxjvp, rooted, for a few days now and I am happy with it.

Thanks guys. Do you know of any guide I can follow to get me from JVK to JVP safely?
Look for Simply Honey in the Dev. thread this is the best one for GB ROMs
I recommend you to at least upgrade to stock XXJVP Android. In case you want some custom rom based on XXJVP build I highly recommend Tweaky's ROM.

Ok i keep getting nagged to update my g2 I am permrooted using the no adb gfree method. So i have s-off supercid and all that. I want to manually flash a pre-rooted GB rom but I'm hoping for a stock rom with minimal changes. The one exception is I want to be able to overclock, I've been looking everywhere but there are too many options without the specific changes and builds outlined. Just a little confused and looking for advice on a rom that will fit what I'm looking for. I'm happy with the stock feel just want to overclock basically. Any ideas?
BOO! no one has any recommendations?
Xboarder56's stock 2.3 + enhancements can be overclocked and is pretty much just stock AOSP.

Sorry I'm new to some of this lol, but its that off the new ota build? Also does it make a difference? I have a stock rooted rom dvds it works great but I want the option of over clocking just because I can't help myself plus its awesome. I have pretty much every thing I own overclocked lol. free power is epic

CM7 and xboarder56's are both based on AOSP 2.3.5, the latest android release. There's no need for them to be based off of the OTA build because they've been compiled from AOSP source (and been around before the OTA was even a thought). For this reason we've had things like CM7 2.3 ROMs since January on the G2. Nearly every ROM in the dev section will have custom kernels that allow overclocking, though (except the bone stock pre-rooted OTA Builds, they're pretty much stuck atm).

Find the radio thread in the dev section. I recommend flashing the radio intended for the T-mobile 2.3 OTA.
is that radio Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 ? Also, I flashed the bone stock pre rooted. My thing was I wanted to keep the stock look for now. Just to keep it simple, plus I like it. I will probably flash virtuous when they come out with a new update.

Yes thats the T-Mo US OTA radio.
ROMs like CM7 and other AOSP ones are very close to stock. The G2 ships (and OTAs) with an almost stock ROM, so anything built from AOSP will be very similar.
Something like CM7 will be much quicker and efficient with tons of extra improvements, but look very similar.
Just a question from someone who doesn't follow the continuum threads, I'm asking this for a friend. Is the new EC07 a new build from samsung or just a new custom rom
My friend has a lot of problems with the stock eclair rom and I'm wondering if upgrading to a custom EC07 rom will help fix her issues. what issues remain in EC07?
Is their any hope left of the continuum getting a real froyo release?
EC03 and EC07 are both leaks of Samsung builds that Verizon never released. Most of the EC07 ROMS on here have been modified in some way, but they are based on a Samsung build.
More specifics, what issues is she having?

I am by no means as technically qualified to help with the issues as some, but I have flashed over a few of the new EC03 and EC07 roms, and it does wonders for the workings of the phone. The new builds, from what I have experienced, speed up the system and remove BING, which should have never been on there to begin with, and other bloat and the phone runs much smoother. Either way, read the tut/explanations, they're great for determining your/her best option.
I'm from the UK and have the UK version of the Note. It seems that pretty much everywhere else on the planet are getting firmware updates and we are not. Since the release of the Note, I've read of other countries getting updates yet there has only been one here since release. I'm currently KK5 (or it could be KKA, not sure which number)
I'm just wondering why others get updates as we don't.

different countries always get differne updates, every company works that way with regards to android updates
You have the latest update for our country if you're on kka if u feel like ur missing out you could always grab a stock rom and flash that.. latest is LA6 or try out one of the custom roms available

Time to bite the bullet! I was wondering when we'd get an official update too, as I didn't want to go down the same road as I did with the HD2 and flash a new rom every other day trying to find a good one. So I rooted the stock rom (same as yours), flashed the Samsung LA6 rom over it, then flashed the Abyss kernal. Much better now! Probably won't flash a new rom now until ICS is officially out.

I'm with you on that.
I have the abyss kernel with KKA. Do you find much improvement with LA6? I have read about a few issues.

Hi
I am back on GB and waiting for 4.0.4 or 4.1.
GB is great for Note. Not much difference to 4.0.3 on Note.
Greetings

did you come from a clean wipe ?
if you want to revert back to GB its as easy as 1,2,3
1, Download GB firmware
2, Load all files into ODIN
3, Connect phone in DL mode and hit start
Obviously you haven't truly experienced ice cream sandwich for the note until you have used the rom in the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802 give it a try and I guarantee your view will change. Galaxy Note = phone + tablet(best of both worlds)
Paranoid Android rom = phone ui + tablet ui(best of both worlds)
Having bought a German Note I initially upgraded to stock LPY for ICS. It was dreadful. Twice I returned to Gingerbread for safety and stupidly gave LPY another chance after a short while. Each time it never failed to be crap. It didn't matter whether or not I wiped stuff - it was just rubbish.
I did try an AOKP ROm for a bit, but that had too many problems for my tastes so a few days ago I bit the bullet and went for the stock LQ2 ROM for the UK (which is where I live) and quite simply I have not had the problems which seemed to plague LPY. So, I'm on a stock ICS ROM, rooted, and quite happy with performance and battery life. Mind you, time will tell if it stays that way, but so far so good.

Touchwiz is the problem, Samsung know what they're doing with hardware but software wise they're atrocious lol. Anyone not enjoying stock samsung should try a cm9 or aokp rom. I'm on the newest stunner as of right now and its perfect.

Hello
I just wanted to say I bought this device two days ago and I am so very happy with it.
I had a Xperia Pro and a Galaxy S but decided to go "big"
And I am glad I did.
The only small downside is that it seems to be so hard to root this one. I have not found any easy way as with for example Xperia Pro.
I am very pleased with the stock rom but I really need to get those bloatware out...but I dont want to flash a rom just to get root.
Well anyway, happy for bying this and I hope it continues to be as fast and nice.
So to others thinking of buying, just do it.....
Welcome to d club!!
Enjoy!!

hey flash speedmod kernel via pc odin and you will have a root access and a yellow triangle, wich can be removed via remove yellow traingle if you are on ics.
ps I recomment kingdroid 4.3 rom and speedmod kernel.
after you got clockworkmod recovery flash abyss 4.2 reboot recovery run jbdroid script flash kingdroid 4.3 rom with cf root kernel after aht flash speedmod k3-7
if you have any question use the search!!!!!!!!!
If u r on ICS, DO NOT DO A FACTORY RESET/WIPE. Note ICS kernwl has a brick bug.
Speedmod kernels and a few other custom kernels have a work around to the bruck bug.
afaik :cyclops:
keep device on gb
ics is risky if you don't want to brick your note than keep it on gb
or follow safe method as prescribed by many dev and user and upgrade it to ics
i have purchased mine yesterday and i will keep it on gb till emmc-bug solution come out :fingers-crossed:
You can root ur Note using the guide here by Dr Ketan @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
As long as you do not perform a factory wipe/reset, ICS is quite good.
I myself have fallen victim to the eMMC brick bug. I got it repaired under warranty. Rooted as per Doc K's guide and flashed SpeedMod kernel. I am on it since about a month now. Running smooth.
Remember always... any time you want to wipe, flash a stock GB rom, perform a wipe and ttgen upgrade to ICS. That is 100% safe. DIRECT WIPE FROM ICS IS 100% DANGEROUS.
Thank you all for so good advices. I am on GB and plan to stay there until a safe version comes from Samsung or any of all excellent developers here.
Oh I am used to search no worries.
Probably I will end up with flashing rom soon. But I feel this phone is magic.
Besides the browser everything is perfect!!

Flash stunner with thor kernel. It's aokp based. No bloatware, no bull****.
Fully costumizable.
You will love it.
It also has tablet mode.
Little getting used to but with this big screen a must have.
Hardbrick issue is gone with this rom.
Good luck

Welcome! I recommend ParanoidAndroid, the hybrid phone/tablet mode is really something. If you dont care for the samsung apps go ahead and flash a custom rom, just make a backup of your original incase you ever need to return your phone
