News: CyanogenMod begins Droid 2 Support - Milestone 2 General

Just Droid 2 or Milestone 2 also?

Just Droid 2, unfortunately

Droid 2 only
Sadly, just Droid 2 only. Tried to install on my milestone 2 and it bricked. Maybe I did it wrong or something so I won't confirm it. (no worries, got it unbricked easily though)

Ouch evil, i was gonna try it anyway until i saw you bricked. Saved me from having to unbrick

[Q] Stock droid 2 ROM

My friend kind of went a little crazy and got too ambitious with his newly found root powers, and deleted some important stuff, so I need to know where I can get a stock droid 2 rom so he can just start over from scratch. And no, he didn't make a backup before he started messing with it, unfortunately. Any help in directing me to a stock rom would be much appreciated =)
Didn't wanna start a new thread. This was the original question for this thread, just so the two replies make sense:
"So I just bought my droid 2, rooted it using the one click method, didn't have any complications, but then I tried installing clockwork recovery, and while it said it installed successfully, but when I try rebooting into recovery, it just reboots normally.
I tried booting straight into recovery using the power button and x, but all it does is display the android with an exclaimation point next to it, and I have to pull the battery to get it to reboot.
WTF is going on?! I've looked through the forums and googled it, but I can't figure out what the problem is, anyone know?"

You have to manually remove Superuser.apk from /system/app/ before you can root again.

Droid 2 is what you want I don't know why I just know it works.
Fixing the DX is easy. Read up on sbf if you run into issues.

when you say 'latest gingerbread' do you mean 2.3.5?
i have a rooted x on 2.2.2, and i want to apply the 2.3.5 update, but i am scared that it will break my root, if i understand correctly i can apply the update then adb shell to remove su and superuser then re-root using pete's? is that correct?
i rooted originally with superoneclick 1.9.1
I went through tons of methods trying to root my droid x...

Odd, I haven't come across an unrootable build for the Droid X.
Also, are you sure 2.3.5 is correct the latest version of Gingerbread for a stock Droid X is 2.3.3.

[Q] Flashing A Rom on the Droid X

I recently rooted my droid x and I was wondering if I need to purchase droid 2 bootstrap recovery in order to flash a rom with rom manager? Btw im on the latest gingerbread ota update.
You will have to use Droid 2 Boostrapper.. regardless of where you find it =P
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA App
But if install a rom using rom manager will it use the droid 2 bootstrapper or will I just have to manually install the rom in recovery using the droid 2 bootstrapper? Sorry I haven't flashed on the droid x yet
Check my signature.
There is a link for a compiled bootstrap from the Droid 2 bootstrap source.
And flashing through rom manager will work as well, yes.

The boostrapper application installs the recovery so then you can use Rom Manager to flash roms. After you have used Droid 2 Bootstrapper be sure to update recovery through Rom Manager.

It is very stable. The unofficial nightlies by RevNumbers can be flashed over Gingerbread.

Droid X and Droid 2 Bootstrappers are NOT to be used with 2nd init roms such as CyanogenMod7. 2nd init roms have built in recovery, and using one of the bootstrap apps will mess your system up to the point you will have to SBF.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA App
Well, that explains what happen to me!!
So use Droid 2 bootstrapper then after flashing use built in recovery that comes with cyanogen mod? Also does the camera on cyanogen mod work because I saw that there were some bugs. Also when I flash cyanogen mod and when another update cones out can I flash the updated one over the old one and keep my data from the previous or do I need to wipe data again? Finally when in cyanogen mod can I use Rom manager regularly without needed Droid 2 bootstrap?
Btw sorry if I have a lot of questions and thanks for taking the time to answer them

Use it to flash CyanogenMod, but afterwards dont use Droid 2 Bootstrapper AT ALL.
The camera works just fine in RevNumber's Unofficial CyanogenMod Nightlies, so flash his builds over Gingerbread.
When an update is released it can be flashed over your previous build without having to wipe, so you will keep all your data.
After you have flashed CyanogenMod Rom Manager can be used regularly with no need for Droid 2 Bootstrapper. If you use Droid 2 Bootstrapper you will screw up your phone.

Is it possible if you could link me to the latest cyanogen mod and when I checked koushes website and he gives out the Droid 2 bootstraper for free but the link doesn't work any ideas?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Links to the newest CM and a working bootstrap are in my sig.
Ok so I have flashed the cyanogen mod rom and when ever the phone is charging the led light is on is there a way to fix this? And how long do you think it will take for the light to burn out?

microSD rooting a droid x

Can someone help me on how to root a droid x. I come from the nook color forums and im new to all this. I have search in the threads but i cant find some clear rooting instructions for a sd card root. Also if it help i am already fimilar with cm roms and would be my preffered rom to root on my droid. Thanks
To know what root method to use, I'm going to need to know your system version. (.602/.605/.621/etc.)

Before you do anything spend some time learning and understanding the different firmware (as poster above me mentions) , what and how to sbf.
In fact first thing you should learn and be comfortable with is an understanding of how sbf works and how to do it. Rooting pre-621 is pretty straight forward and I highly recommend Pete's Motorola tools.
Research this. Can some one provide his latest link? He has a notation specifically for dx.
Welcome to our little ghost town aka dx forums lol

You can use this site for Pete's root tools http://www.psouza4.com/Bionic/ it says bionic but it has an option for Droid x
