Hi, I am on the official UK vodafone gingerbread 2.3.3 BUJV9 firmware. I wnted to root the phone with a kernal so tried a few with various problems, mostly the phone wouldn't work so wrong kernal.
The one I have now is CF-ROOT-XX-OXA-JVO-v3.2-CWM3RFS this got the phone working again so I thought I had it.
It now turns out the bluetooth and gps don't turn on.
Can anyone tell me what kernel I need. there are a lot out there, I have tried a few but could do with a pointer.
Thanks for looking.
hardcore's kernel will usually work
Damian's will also: use his gold version, I ran it on JV9 without any issues and it matches well with Brotuck's JV9 rom

Hi,
I had i9000 witk Darkys 10.1 with 2.3.3 bootloader
I want to go back to stock (branded) so that I can use my warranty.
I've tried going to JS7 http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-stock-rom-gt-i9000-only.486/
and my kernel got stuck at
Code:
2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
I've tried flashing several froyo (1 and 3 files) from samsungfirmware I've tried flashing my branded firmware, I've tried upgrading my branded firmware with KIES.
Nothing helps my kernel stays the same.
I think I should get (at some point) a stock kernel without the "root" word... Right?
What should I flash or where do I get a stock kernel - regardless of version. I just need stock firmware. I've tried googling, it didn't help.
I've tried flashing http://dl.project-voodoo.org/stock-kernels/XWJP6-Kernel.tar as PDA without repartition. No luck
Small run down of what i did and if anyone can help ....
I was running 2.3.3 and updated to the unofficial 2.3.4 using odin and simply honey 5.0 revenge by sgt. That's when i noticed that the phone does not connect to the bell network. The rest of my phone works perfectly even the wifi...but like i said i can t seem to connect to the net work anymore.....
firmware 2.3.4 / baseband version i9000xxjvr/ kernel version 2.6.35.7 [email protected]/ build number simply honey 5.0 revenge
i ve tried some stuff that i have read in these forums like
1. Put apn info my self....tried that nothing.
2. Called tech support and they told me to take the battery out and then the sim
put it back , nothing again
My question is do i have to go back to stock rom to get the network back or is there something else i can try....
information on this subject is sketchy, when i do a google search ...any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance
It probably was a bad flash sounds like some of your system files did'nt compile correctly. Odin back to stockand reflash. I always have flash problems when going past 2.2.1 almost always have to odin back thats why I stick with Froyo a bit mre stable when hopping roms.

please advise....thanks in advance....
Ok,
Meaning of "Perfect" is,
Every function runs like stock so even Stock GB Rom also out of consideration mentioned as "Perfect".
This tip is for ordinary novice users (like me) who are not dare to touch the system modification like our genius Dev's..
But still not verified for the safety, please read through what I did...for you to catch up for potential risk...
GB Rom and Froyo Custom rom (SD, Simple Streak, Streakin, LongHorn) are exception to be compared. My point is combination for Rom and baseband , not for judging which rom is better...
After knew that Official GB Rom also has a problem of running USSD Code (Which I cannot live without it to use Streak as a daily phone), I have tried to re-check which Froyo Rom is the best for daily use, of course with actual flashing all stock rom below from the beginning..
Stability was the most important and didn't care about Quadrant score but care about how snappy to use without lag and No SOD and random reboot absolutely.
Plus portrait Mod possibility (Because I need Streak Phone !!)
So, stock rom, root, No OVERCLOCK, V6 Supercharge script + SGS Touchscreen Booster.apk which can get from the market (free) was the major combination. This app was made for Samsing Galaxy S as I applied to Infuse 4G but worked well for our Streak and makes Streak's screen response very sensitive so you can visibly feel "Very Snappy".. NO NEED ROOT !
350 which is proven in Korea for no critical issue.(This is Olleh official rom).
354 which is well known to develop custom rom as a base by our dev's..
360 which is recommended by our one of dev (as I remember TheManii)..
366 which is latest Froyo Rom installed for SoftBank, Japan.
All Froyo Stock rom can be rooted with TheManii's [Guide]Rooting all stock roms the RIGHT way without any single problem.
All Froyo Rom can be locked for Portrait Mod with updated zip file you can find out from Dev, section EXCEPT 366 !!
If you flash to 350, when first boot... Streak will automatically inform you for OTA update to 407 Olleh GB rom through Dell Korea's website.
Can feel the better response slightly but not noticeably 350<354<360 but there is something special for 366 Softbank Rom.
After flashing 366 (of course with matching baseband which you can find out all from "Stock Rom and Baseband" which again TheManii created... (It seems that TheManii knows everything about Streak...)), first boot.., no Mobile signal at all if you are in GSM region because automatically WCDMA becomes default.
Here's something I found out....
As soon as change in "Network Mode" to "GSM only"..., strength of the signal becomes very, very strong !!!!!. + whole response of the steak become more snappy and faster...
My area's mobile signal is really bad.. that's why I can clearly notice this differences between 350/354/360 and 366.
One problem for using this rooted, V6 Supercharge scripted 366 Rom for daily is "CANNOT LOCK TO PORTRAIT MODE !!!" I searched XDA and Modaco and got all patch zip and flashed one by one but none of them worked for 366.
Suddenly I remembered that any Modem ( not mentioned as baseband in Samsung Galaxy forum but mentioned as a Modem ) can be flashed and changed regardless which custom rom or stock rom I am using... so I tried to find out best Modem for my region before for my Infuse 4G.
But what I catch up is,
Samsung's Rom has Modem and Bootloader (In the kernel) separately but Streak is not ???
My curiosity is here.
No matter what all Android system and bootloader is in the kernel. If baseband of Streak is similar to Samsung's Modem, why baseband affect whole system's stability ???
For Samsung Infuse,
Modem is very serious issue for battery life, speed of network as if network speed slow, whole system's overall speed becomes slow if device is on line..
So I decided to maintain 366 baseband on Streak and use Froyo Custom Rom at this time based on the result I got from Stock Rom + 366 baseband.
I didn't flash again other baseband (amss, dp1) to maintain 366's baseband (GAUSB1A136612-EU), wipe dalvik, cache, hard reset and restore my Nandroid backuped custom Froyo Rom. (Luckily I backuped and kept every single roms with same setting.)
If boot up, Softbank Logo shows up, not Dell Logo.... so I am sure I am on 366 baseband... but here's the thing. If streak's baseband is only modem, if I flash to other rom, Softbank's logo should not show up.
This means Streak's baseband is not just Modem... somewhat it is bootloader or something...
Maybe our dev's can verify about this clearly.... for our knowledge...
Anyway, after restore back..., very snappy and I cannot feel any lag with almost 150 apps installed. Confirm that totally different with flashing with matching baseband...
Now coming 3 days without any issue.... no SOD, no Reboot,...
Side by side with my Infuse 4G on overclocked 1.6Ghz custom rom..., amazingly Streak is more snappy and less lag when switch the screen..
Mobile signal is exceptionally strong !!!
So, if you are running on Froyo Rom, try to flash baseband to 366 BUT ON YOUR OWN RISK!!!! UNTIL OUR DEVS GIVE US TO CONFIRM IT WILL BE SAFE.... maybe it depends on region (Malaysia here...) maybe brick your Streak because of NOT MATCHING BASEBAND, DO NOT ASK ME TO DO SOMETHING AS I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO IF SOMETHING HAPPENED !!! I dare to take a risk for my Steak but not for your streak !!
I Hope our dev's can advice about this combination.... which will bring serious problem or not... At the moment.. ???
I have no single issue... and clearly made my mind to sale Infuse 4G and keep Streak... So my Infuse 4G sold without hesitation ~~~
Love my Streak !!!!
Now I just slide screen softly.. (yeah... really softly like wind), response is immediate without lag !!! I mean it, no lag at all....
Now, I am on LongHorn 1.4.2 overclocked 245.76/1036.8 on demand, 200 DPI, Portrait Mode on top of 366 baseband and will test other Froyo custom Rom (Streakin, SimpleStreak etc...) on top of 366 baseband with another Streak and post if there is something while keep on running above combination for a week to verify it will be safe...
But if Streak's baseband is related with bootloader, shoudn't flash 366 baseband to any GB Rom as I know.
Again, I believe our Devs knows about it so hope to get professional advice.
Nice streaking for all !!
P.S. : If above issue already discussed before... forgive me upload again...
I have searched but could not find out so I posted here...
My only comment on your entire thread is that the V6 scripts IN MY EXPERIENCE and in what I have read from other EXPERIENCED users, DO NOT WORK on the Streak, it's snake oil, a placebo, you think it's doing something, but it's not doing a damn thing, so you can do without it
Yeah, can feel the differecies..
I got same situation like you.
Cannot use Streak without USSD Code running.. because I am using as a daily phone, too.
I followed as you did and I can feel clearly my streak becomes more response, to make sure about it, I don't install Sgs Touchscreen Booster and V6 Supercharger but obviously Signal becomes very strong and becomes more snappy than ran on matched baseband...
Anyway, can I use any OC kernel with 366 stock rom ????
Thanks for the tip and continue testing...
Hi there,, I m from malaysia and on digi as well, I m using dsc .64 at the moment, any suggestion baseband? Thanks in advance.cheers.
I have tried 405 / 406 baseband on DSC Rom with DiGi / Celcom / Maxis / U Mobile but could not get any differences..
So far, 366 baseband is most strong but this is baseband for Froyo so SHOULD NOT FLASH on GB Rom until being verified by professional...
I am figuring out why Streak should use baseband matched to the Rom as Samsung's all devices, Motorola Milestone have no problem to flash different "Modem" regardless what Rom on the device and this modem affects battery life and network performance.
I am suspecting flashing baseband of Steak is not just flashing "Modem" but flashing "Bootloader", too. If this is true, CANNOT flash Froyo's baseband on GB Rom.
Anyway, I want to try to flash 366 baseband on DSC after checking something and will post the result....

Well you can forget that. The Streak is not like the rest where the "radio" sync files are completely independant from most everything else. They are an integral part of how the rest of the ROM behaves. If you flash a FROYO baseband to a GB ROM you will constantly have LEDs flashing, wifi and 3G problems and may not even be able to charge battery to 100%, but if you had done a little more reading then you would already know all this...
Hello folks
So far, I was waiting for some update from Papa to get us a nice LC4 rooted kernel with CWM, but given the activity of the japanese forum that doesn't seem to be happening for now.
After many attempts and some cold sweat, here is what I could figure out.
- Once the update to LC4 is done, it's pretty hard to come back to a former version. None of the KLx series can be flashed, or so it seems. Your only hope is to go back to a SC02BOMJJ1 rom (Froyo) and then start upgrading again.
- The KLx series cannot be rooted using the zergrush, or so it seems.
- Once your phone is rooted with zergrush, the update to the Value Pack seems to keep the root (that's what I read on a japanese forum).
So, to progress a little, what I'd need is a 2.3.3 stock rom, like for instance the SC02BOMKF2.
Once someone can get us that
1) roll back to JJ1 (Odin + JJ1 stock + PIT)
2) upgrade to KF2 (Odin + KF2 stock)
3) root with zergrush
4) upgrade to LC4 (not Odin, using the NTT Docomo update)
and it shall be working as far as I read.
I have the JJ1 files here if somebody needs them, but anyone with a 2.3.3 stock rom ???
hello sir, im a sc02b user too, actually i now have the SC02BOMLC4 value pack on my phone and nothing seems to be new from the last update (KL4). Anyways, ive got my phone rooted but i have to use the kyapat10mod3 to get rooted, yeah that's right my kernel is still SC02BOMKL4 and nothing seems to be worried about im still using my phone now. OC and Memory freak are still working. What I want for our phone is to get some compatible ROMs e.g. CM9, DARKNIGHT, etc. ive already tried the CM9 and its pretty cool but it cannot detect any sim card it has no baseband and EMEI as well. Have a good day..c:
Hi all,
Since a couple of weeks i'm suffering from the following problem.
On newer roms the signal to my provider is lost upon waking up the phone (from standby/screen off).
A couple of things happened, i switched providers (from T-Mobile to Ziggo), i flashed a wrong modem which caused sound problems (from the omega rom 13.1). Since that moment i've had this problem. I'm not sure if its related to what happened, but that's what i know changed.
I've tried several modem files, though the modem version MI1 which works properly with Echoe v3, gives the same problems on Echoe v6, Omega 13.2 and Phoenix v5. Updating to XXUEMJ7 makes no difference at this point. I'm not quite sure whether its the modem at all due to this, but it seems the most obvious thing to look at when facing connection problems.
When the connection is active its working properly, i have data, i can call, receive SMS messages and everything. But press the off button once to lock the device, press it again to unlock it, and i see the signal status icon change to no connection.
At the moment with Omega 13.2 installed, its reconnecting quickly after i unlock my phone (something that didnt happen on the other roms), but it seems like very weird behavior. I've googled and searched the forums here for people with similar problems, but they've either not been documented yet, or i've been using the wrong keywords to find it.
Does anyone know what's going on, and how i can fix this?
Many thanks,
Amber

Hello,
Do not use roms based on mj7, use roms based on mj5 or go back to 4.2.2
I have tested all radios many kerneles with many mj7 based roms and always had this problem.
And use radio mj5 with mj5 roms likeecho illusion bobcat, visxii.
Get radio from here:

Adam
Thank you, switching back now, I'll get back on if it succeeded
