Vodafone Australia KF2 firmware - Galaxy S II General

Hi Everyone,
Just got my new GS2 from Vodafone Australia.
Below is the frimware
hxxp://i.imgur.com/WlVEi.jpg
(cant post links yet)
And Keis says the following
PDA: KF2
PHONE: KF2
CSC:KF2 (VAU)
My question is - Does anyone want me to upload this firmware and if so point me to a guide.
wanted to get this out there before i root it and load a custom rom.

yep i certainly do my good fellow

God i hate the Spanish way of life! They're so lazy! I'm still on KE1 and no update via KIES. How did you find out about your update?

I didn't find out about it - thats the firmware the phone came with.
can anyone point me to a guide on how to backup and upload the firmware?

I'll upload the firmware later but I think this won't work for normal Galaxy S II phones as this is the GT-I9100T model.
I'm debating whether I should add it to the firmware thread because I don't want someone to accidentally flash this and brick the GT-I9100 device.

Beat me with a cricket bat and call me Andy! This SOB is nearly a GB is size!!!!!
WTH is in this firmware?

Crap, is this firmware good or something lol, i already loaded a custom rom on my one

it seems this firmware has problem browsing internet thru wifi.
Has no problem isung 3G but no thru wifi.
my other mobiles, notebook have no problem connect internet by using same router

I've added this to the carrier firmware thread in the dev forum along with kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/L13G7SSOVN
Please do not flash this on a normal GT-I9100 device, the firmware is for the GT-I9100T model and I don't know if it's compatible

Hey mate I'm in exactly the same boat as you, have an aussie vodafone sgs2, any chance you know the difference between the i9100 and the i9100t?
Also which kernel are you going to use? As im not sure which would be the correct one.
Thanks
Glenn

Hmm didnt notice the GT-9100T at first.
How/What should i check to compare with the normal 9100?
as for the firmware. since the model number is different can i still flash a custom rom and root it as normal?

I got no idea if anything is different and if it is it's nothing visible.
I'm not going to flash anything till I find out just to be safe

The only difference is in the link.

Ok so looks like there is no difference hardware wise. Makes sense that the optus one doesnt care about the 850Mgz band but i thought all GS2s were quad band.
Didnt expect a difference between them
i guess ill just try flash some stock and custom roms and see what happens.
does it matter that the custom roms are build on KF4 and i only have KF2?

Not sure on that one, hopefully someone can answer that for us.
If you do flash one let me know which one you use.
Also I assume you haven't rooted either, as I said I am going to wait for the moment.

In poland and this just appeared on my Kies for update, so far don't see anything new

I dont think rootingis going to be a problem, im sure superoneclick or something will be fine.
but i dont quite understand how kernels and firmware work yet
not sure what i can replace with what etc

can anyone help me to find csc for optus or australia ? sorry i am posting it here

So if I flash these files with ODIN, will this return my SGS2 - i9100T back to stock and return its warranty status, or do I need reset counters or something like that?
Thanks

Hi there...let me shed some light. I've flashed the previous version (KE6) of the Vodafone AU rom not realising it was a Vodafone AU rom on my GT-i9100 and it did not brick my phone. Instead, after flashing, my phone now says its a GT-i9100T
According to a thread I read here, the only diff between the GT-i9100 and GT-i9100T is the SAR value. The GT-i9100T has a lower SAR value, which, if I am not wrong, means that it is less harmful to humans
Apart from that, the hardware is identical between the GT-i9100 and GT-i9100T. I have been using the previous version ROM now for 2 days and so far so good ;-)

Until dev get their hands on the LTE version you have to live with it. I'm sure the Korean Note 2 works on all bands except USA if that's what you're asking.

I thought Korea version SHV-E250s have supports different bandwidths, will it support the 3G and 4G EE in UK though~~~
you can root the E250S by flashing recovery.img found in these forums in odin
DO NOT flash boot.img that is sometimes also in the odin tar file or you will not be able to boot into android or recovery.
(although to fix simply flash the stock boot.img back)

(32GB version, LTE)
Thread open until verified...Thank You.
Any pic to proof? I assume this will work for N7105 too... Care to explain step by step tutorial?

This will work for E250K? I suspect that it should right?
Any progress on rooting the Korean Note 2? How many people on this forum have a Korean Note 2? Mine is the E250L (LG telecom)
I have the SHV-E250L (LG U+) and I going to try to stay unrooted.
This info only applies if you are in Korea but with my last Korean Galaxy phone, I took it to the A/S center to get a broken earphone replaced, and they tapped into my phone for 20 minutes trying to prove that it was rooted so they can deny me a free replacement. I know that is just bad luck with the service staff that day. But once they verified that it wasn't rooted, they gave me new earphones. To avoid that kind of hassle because the service at least for the first year is great (free shattered screen replacements while you wait and such), I think try to keep it unrooted for as long as possible. Let's see how long I can hold out...
Most of the reasons I rooted and put roms in the past was to gain access like wifi tethering, better battery life, and better functionality, but none of those are issues with this device. Wifi tethering is enabled without restrictions out of the box and without extra charge.

Some questions about this device
Hi All,
Since this seems to be the only GN2 version available with 32gb internal storage, I am feeling a strong temptation to buy it. However, I do have some concerns I am hoping you owners can address:
1) Is the DMB antenna obvious? I looked at the Samsung Korea site, and most of the photos don't show it. Does it retract or detach in some way? I know I won't be able to use it in the US so am hoping it will be easy to forget about.
2) Does it have a FM radio receiver like the international version?
3) Is the user experience the same as the international version if English is selected as the default language?
Ideally I would like to eventually be able to flash an international rom into the device, but I know that's not possible now. Are any of the current owners expert enough to offer an educated guess as to whether it will be possible in the future?
Thanks for your help and advice.

[Q] Hey all. New here. Few questions.

HI there folks,
I am a newborn noob here. Would like to introduce myself.
I have recently bought the first Android device I have ever owned which is the i9500 Octa Core and I am loving it, I have found that Android is 100000000000x999 times better than any other mobile operating system and so I have a huge interest in it. Have been reading about it for a month now and I want to do many things to my device but unfortunately can't because the i9500 does not get much love, especially here in South Africa, where Samsung can't even provide us with the latest firmware update.
I really want to root & flash my phone however I don't want to Void my warranty and I know that the Triangle Away app can remove the flash counter however it does not support i9500 Octa yet...
I am an experienced Graphic Designer, have been doing it for 5 years using Photoshop and sometimes CorelDraw, so if anyone would like me to help out with designs for their applications, I don't mind helping out.
I have a lot of knowledge about Computers and Cellphones however not enough about Linux based systems, that is why I am here, to learn, learn and learn.
Also I wanted to ask if I can put Google Stock Android OS 4.2 or 4.3 on my i9500 Octa instead of using Samsung's crappy TouchWiz? Is it possible?

1. Well In Case if you root the Phone warranty Gets Voided. You Can Hop Over to Here and FLash a pre rooted latest firmware according to Your Choice. Or You Can root it using Cf root by Chain fire and when you need to Give it In for warranty you can just factory reset and it gets Official again.
2. Google edition is Not Yet Ported to I9500 and A dev is already porting it for time being we dont have much choices for Roms
3. If You dont Need touchwiz you can just download some other launcher like Nova apex and Get the Bare android Feel

Ok thanks alot manu44. I have another question though, ok I am in South Africa and we only have the XXUAMDK firmware available, however I want to be with the latest one XXUBMF8, so in order to keep the pre-installed service provider app and internet settings, can't I just use the PDA via ODIN without the MODEM CSC & BOOTLOADER? I have no idea why there is 4 downloads, what do these PDA, CSC, MODEM & BOOTLOADER do anyway?
Sorry it's my first time doing this and all this stuff is making me nervous, I don't want to do it wrong and brick my phone.
Thank you for the help.

So Just Pick the Latest Firmware File and The Right CSC fro Your Country.

[Q] Custom Roms for GT-I9507

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the guides for root, flashing etc are compatible with this model and if there are any limitations on loading a custom rom?
Thanks

What method did you use to root and install a custom recovery?
I'n trying to flash the cf auto chainfire using odin, but i'm being told off for there being no PIT file supposedly.
EDIT: Disregard that, the issue appears to be that I had my cable plugged into a USB 3.0 port.
Flashing any modem on this variant is next to impossible.
Flashing roms is fine, but i can't seem to flash any modems lol.
Same here all 4.4 roms lose signal as soon as I out the device to sleep. I need to reboot to get optus coverage again. I could not flash any modem. I think we need a 4.3 compatible modem to come out for the 9507

Hi
Tried some kit kat roms a while ago and had dropouts so I updated to stock JB.... 4.3. I haven't noticed any drop-outs since.
Knox is a hardware level issue. It cannot be reset and it will void your warranty. What I understand is that once
your phone is rooted the knox displayed when entering download mode goes from 0*1. Have a look at this thread to explain knox.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577856
And previous post for how to root...... Im assuming a typo i9597 is i9507
If you use a smart dock >>>I've had some issues with cpu temps and charging when docked in the smart dock.
cpu temps have been excess of 80c and not charging when the charge icon is displayed.
I used an aftermarket usb charger from jaycar and removed a usb extension cable to try to minimises voltage drop.
And also removed a heap of bloatware with android tuner. So far so good.

[Q] Should I flash my G900I with a G900F ROM?

I've flashed many different ROMs over the years and never had issues but I was curious as to whether the different modem in another variant would cause issues with LTE?
The G900I I have has it's dock locked so can't change anything and the always on voice (Hi Galaxy from sleep) doesn't work. These 2 issues seem common with the G900I. Here in Australia our LTE bands seem different to most other countries so I need to know if I screw with the baseband etc, will I have issues with network speed?
Thanks
I have the G900I and here's what I did to get around the locked dock.
Root the rom using cf-root and modify the following.
Open the /system/csc/others.xml file and change TRUE to FALSE on the following line:
<CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>TRUE</CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>
And while your at it, to enable gallery auto rotate after root, do the following in the same others.xml file
"<CscFeature_Gallery_AddAutoRotationIcon>TRUE</CscFeature_Gallery_AddAutoRotationIcon>" and change TRUE to FALSE.
Save your changes, reboot
As for using another rom, I'd wait until development is churning out lots of rom variations.

Hmmm interesting... What about the lockscreen camera?
I'm about to flash the Taiwanese firmware to my Telstra Galaxy - it is a G900I however it has all the features unlocked.
For the time being I've just gone the easy way and installed Google Now launcher and Cover lock screen replacement. Good thing about cover is that I turn the phone to landscape and the camera shortcut appears. Nice addition.
Still doesn't get me the always on voice activation tho. The main reason I went with the S5 is because the Moto X was only released with 16GB and no SD.
antigravity - im not sure bout the camera but as far as using the taiwanese firmware let us know how you go. The OP had a good point in that other countries use different LTE bands so it may or may not work. Either way let us know..

So that doesnt help but if you edit the replace hotseat string to false you can move the dock icons to whatever you like. I would also like to know if the taiwanese firmware would work on our 900i's. Doesn't have download booster or Paypal fingerprint, but I wouldn't use those features anyway.
Will probably end up loading a custom ROM at some stage, but so far, the Taiwanese firmware works great. No noticeable difference with 3G/4G on the Telstra network.

what do you gain with the taiwanese firmware? do you get an unlocked dock?, can you turn off the shutter sound on the camera?, do you get the auto rotate in the gallery? thanks.

i'm running alliance custom g900f on my Aussie g900i and the biggest problem I've faced and others with other custom roms is it breaks the NFC to be non fictional.
An update just came out today for the aussie 900i new build ending in D2
Was C6

What about yhe always on voice control?
Has anyone here tried flashing the unbranded xsa over the Telstra firmware. From previous experience on my old s4, the dock was still locked on xsa firmware. Also is anyone finding WiFi to be slow on Telstra firmware. The browser loads very slow, my friends note 3 on same WiFi connection is fine.

I've got an unbranded phone, bought from samsung direct, dock is locked, and all other restrictions on the other aussie versions are on this one too (can't turn off the camera shutter sound, no auto rotate in gallery, etc)

That's sucks. I don't understand why they lock features to certain countries. Firmware should be the same across the board, only modems should change for different carriers.

[Q] Is this a T-mobile Note 3 or not?

I really can't find the answer here or anywhere. (i've been searching all morning)
I've been reading allot about it but know is me question.
Is my note 3 Branded or not and can i just install stock 4.4.2 and then flash X-note or any other custom firmware?
Device Information:
Model
SM-N9005
Baseband:
N9005XXUENA2
Kernel:
3.4.0-348029
*******
Sat Jan 11 09:45:52 KST 2014
Buildnumber:
KOTH49H.N9005XXUENA7
Now according do this it is just a normal Note 3. I have another carrier in it with LTE working and everything is working.
BUT When i boot the phone there is a t-mobile boot animation. (thats all i can find of t-mobile in and on the phone)
I know T-mobile does this with all there phones and my last Note 2 had this to and i could just Root and Flash all i wanted like it was a normal version. Now can i also do that with this Note 3. And how can i know the difference between a T-mobile Note 3 and a International One.

Its probably only the T-Mobile bootanimation which is added. Should be fine to root it and flash custom roms on it if you want. Search in the T-Mobile thread for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-tmobile to be sure.
Open PlayStore Search For An App With Name Of Phone INFO *Samsung* You Will Get All The Answers.

I guess you have a SM-N900T, look in the link in my above post for how to root it and which roms//mods are available. Look in device info for the correct model number or in the Phone Info app from Play as linked above.

Just to make sure bro, thought initialy you might have a US T-Mobile device Dutch T-Mobile devices are not branded, you can also flash a PHN (unbranded) rom from www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/. This will not trip the KNOX void warranty.

I probably thought already so, but i didn't know what changed and didn't wanted to brick it from the start. And i really want to do custom so the KNOX warranty can kiss my ass. I never bricked a device by being careful and can change the hardware myself. And if i really need the warranty i buy a new phone. i switch every half year or so i never use that.
Thanks for the input i'm gonna have a happy time flashing

You can always check for the latest firmware for your phone by installing this app and open the menu --> 'Firmware Browser...'

Correction: Dutch T-Mobile devices are BRANDED!!!
CSC's:
Netherlands UNbranded: PHN
Netherlands Vodafone: VDF
Netherlands T-Mobile: TNL
According to the OP's screenshot of *#1234#, he has a branded T-Mobile device (TNL)
