They are too excited with their stock recovery and rom to actually pull the stupid file, rather than SAYING OMG UPGRADZ! Damn kids, I don't want to flash back to stock to get this stupid modem.

It should be and update.zip file. Check and see how big the new file is. If it isn't over 10mg then you may have a winner. Though we would have flash it through stock maybe also and not through CWM

If you installed the update it erases itself usually. You have to pull it before the install. It's like a package in Mission Impossible. It'll self-destruct after a few seconds.

Correct, you have to actually pull the file before it installs. We need someone who gets the OTA and then decides to share. We have a bunch of 10 yr olds with too much excitement here. We need someone, (and I'm about to do it myself) to go to stock and pull the update and post it here for the modem.

You might have to completely redo the whole thing. No idea what triggers OTA's. I'd say try redoing the modem only, if you can.

This OTA does not behave like a typical update where it downloads a file then reboots into recovery mode and installs. It reboots your phone into somekind of download mode and installs from there. I rebooted my phone to get the prompt again and I can't find any sort of file that was downloaded to my SDCard. Now maybe it's somewhere in the actual phone memory but I have no idea where to look.

Yeah same here the phone downloads it confirms with you the installation and reboots.
it is downloaded to the phone but idk where . any clue where it might be?
*Edit* oh and btw when you update the modem it goes in a loop(update to EF02 it tells you to update to EF10, and vice versa)
Woah, am I missing something? So EF02 was leaked eairler? But EF10 is offical ota update, and everybody should get it?

If you install the leaked EF02 and go into "Upgrade Firmware", it actually pushes some sort of OTA that upgrades the baseband to EF10. Problem is once you do that every time you reboot the phone it does an automatic firmware check and wants you to upgrade back and forth from EF02 to EF10 to Ef02 etc.

Gingerblur v.35 is built around the 1.83 as far as the framework and such. It does not however actually update your phone to 1.83. The main update for 1.83 was the radio and allowing HSUPA, which gingerblur does not affect in any way, shape or form. Gingerblur is more or less just a theme... ok, ok, it's a pseudo rom = theme w/ mods & hacks included (not a custom ROM).

So I've heard reports about the OTA being released for 4.0.4 and I understand it's supposed to be a 2 week rollout schedule. This isn't a thread asking when I'll get it (I haven't).

I just had a pop up that said a system update was available so I clicked install and it went into my cwm recovery and said something about it wasn't signed correct and installation was aborted. Was that the update to 4.0.4?
Edit: by the way I'm rooted and went back to gingerbread last night because I was having problems with the room I was running.

Yeh if you're running CWM you're probably not going to be able to get the OTA, it relies on the stock recovery I believe.

I got the update just now. I was running a stock rooted rom and checking for updates like crazy and checking in like google was my untrusted girlfriend but no luck. Then i use one click stock to go completely back to stock and the update started instantly. Just remember to update to 2.3.7 first because stock is on 2.3.4 and reports showed error if you werent on 2.3.7.. its been since december i waited for this moment. custom roms were fun but stock 4.0.4 OtA just feels good to the soul.

this is the name of the file

Looks like unfortunately, it is just the MJE firmware. I installed the Verizon Update Manager, and was able to start the upgrade process, which downloaded SM-N900V_VZW_1_20131113083740_7k9fnn9wqq.zip.enc2 to my AppData/Roaming/Verizon_AR folder, then made a decrypt folder, to which it extracted SM-N900V_VZW_1_20131113083740_7k9fnn9wqq.zip. I opened that zip file, and it contained N900VVRUBMJE_N900VVZWMJE_N900VVRUBMJE_HOME.tar.md5. I'm not sure why it is downloading it for you, since you say you are already on MJE, but looks like no KitKat yet :/
