I had put wp7 on my hd2 and experience issues with it restarting over and over on its own.
I have since gone back to android and have notice they my SD only reads 200mb. Its a 16gb SD.
My question, is there a way to restore or undo the format wp7 applied to my SD? I'd rather not buy another SD lol
Any suggestions would be apreciated
I had the same problem.
I could not format in Windows XP or in Windows 7 ...
In the end I formatted in camera.
WP7 creates two partitions - one for system use the other is what you're seeing - the 200mb partition.
Theres program called SD Format nocking around on the internet that should reformat and remove the partion WP7 creates - try googling SD Format that should throw up some links to it - i beleive its freeware.
There are lots of threads and fixes about this, here is one with video:

Here is one where you don't have to install any software on your pc:

I flashed the stock ROM then i went to start/tools/Format SD Card & formated worked for me
If you are using a NAND build of Android, you can just format it from the phone and it should recover the remaining amount of the SD card. I don't remember who I saw that posted it on here, but it worked for me when I tried it.
I have nand wp7 and sd android, partition the tf, two partitions 12GB fat32 for android, 2GB for wp7(unformatted fat16). The magldr can't recognize my card(I can not set the android folder and find this problem). I find a way to solve: take out the card and then push into phone again when in the magldr. But this way makes me crazy because everytime I restart the phone I must do the thing above again or I can't use the card in wp7 even can't boot the sd android.
Can someone help me to avoid this, thx first
Hello guys.
I have a HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7 (on MagLdr 1.2).
I want to DualBoot Android AND WPH. Ive watched a tut on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTHRAUHZHlo
I did exactly the same and after that i took this Android DesireHD Built: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
It worked fine but android said, that there isnt a sd card in the device. Of course it is, cuz android boots from the sd card. When i remove my sd card, android freezes (of course). I tried to restart and i put the 512 MB data.img in the folder but there was the same problem again..
I tried it with an other card and i pushed the button "mount sd card"
and than it said "u can take out the sd card now" (or something like that)
Plz help me!
I am having the exact same problem. Have you found the problem/solution to it.
thanks.
you both update you magldr that should fix your issues.
so get newest radio, than flsh magldr 1.3
before you update make a complete backup!!
hope you both have the right partition layout on sd card.
(first partition must be fat32 second ext3 or ext4)
hope this helps.
for tut look at forums or pm me!!
Can someone describe the exact steps that are required to mount the SD card when the Android build is being run off the SD card using MAGLDR.

They are running Android from their SD card. It is not going to show a SD card being in the device because Android thinks the SD card is the device......

This will not help them at all, MAGLDR just serves as the bootloader for Android not the OS.
Allso you can not remove your SD card will booted into Android if you are using a SD card build it is running of the SD card not NAND.

So basically I cannot mount the SD card, no matter how it is formatted ?
I totally have this same problem. Neither WP7 or Droid will read the 16 GB card I'm using to run Droid. I think I'm using the DesireHD build also, maybe its that? I can probably see if changing it makes a difference.
I have the same problem. First time i installed WP7 and android, everything was working fine. Then i had to reset WP7 because it kept freezing, i followed the same steps again to dual boot with android and it booted fine but SD CARD is not mounted for some reason. I have tried 3 different android builds with same problem. Any help or tutorials?

This happened to me too with two SD cards. What I did was I run the Partition SD Card from AD Recovery. I forgot the partition layout, just find something that works for you. I was surprised that it has successfully created a partition...this erased everything so I needed to re-copy ROM files to SD card via Card Reader on my PC.
When I did it over, It finally worked. Am now running Sensation XL ROM.
HTH
hi really did try searching for this couldn't find any help.
i successfully had WP7 on my hd2 with a 4GB card, had it activated via chat and everything. I wanted to put in my 16GB card and try setting up a dual boot with android.
WP7 gives me an error now "memory card not working" and my only option is to turn off phone (or make emergency call).
it gives me that error with the 4GB card and the 16GB card.
i have tried reflashing it with the 16GB in it and that doesn't work.
I have tried reflashing it with no card in it and that doesn't work.
pretty sure i tried with the 4GB card too.
i know both cards work. the 4GB still has the small partition and the larger unknown from the wp7 install.
any help please?
this is the ROM fyi

""""This article provides information to help you understand how Windows Phone 7 devices use SD cards, the performance requirements of SD cards for Windows Phone 7 devices, and how your phone will behave if you remove the SD card or add a new one.
Some Windows Phone 7 devices include a Secure Digital (SD) card slot underneath the battery cover. If you buy a Windows Phone 7 device that includes an SD card slot, you should be aware of several important differences from other devices that use SD cards:
The SD card slot in your phone is intended to be used only by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) that built your phone and your Mobile Operator (MO). These partners can add an SD card to this slot to expand the amount of storage on your phone.
To help ensure a great user experience, Microsoft has performed exhaustive testing to determine which SD cards perform well with Windows Phone 7 devices. Microsoft has worked closely with OEMs and MOs to ensure that they only add these cards to Windows Phone 7 devices.
You should not remove the SD card in your phone or add a new one because your Windows Phone 7 device might not work properly. Existing data on the phone will be lost, and the SD card in your phone can't be used in other Windows Phones, PCs, or other devices.""""
not sure how to remedy this though.

-put the phone aside and take the sd now
1.eliminate all partitions and make one FAT32 with MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition
2.now use SDFormatter and do a overwrite and format size adjustment ON
-after these steps
1.put your sd in and go to the MAGLDR menu
2.GO to services and activate the last 24mb of RAM
3.Allways in services do format MBR
4.Now go to USB flasher and install
5.After first boot go to settings-->about and press reset your phone

I used a PNY 16GB c4 SD card for dual boot, no problem. WP7 is picky though.
4GB is cutting it WAY too close for any kind of functional dual boot. Each OS takes about 1GB. That doesn't leave you much room for anything else.
that's interesting that my pny 16GB doesn't work while yours does.
I tried to setup dual boot but i didn't do something right cause i get a load error when i try to do from the SD rom.
when setting the card up for dual boot, i was watching a youtube video of a person here doing it, at one point the partition they are working on goes from fat 16 to fat 32 but he doesn't describe doing it.
youtube.com/watch?v=jhuR59UXw_4&feature=player_embedded
i'm not sure if that is the prob or what. I ended up converting the partition to fat 32
i got the dual boot figured out using this guide instead:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYL1M40Ntzo&feature=player_embedded
there was some editing i was not doing.
this was with the 4GB. i'll try to find another bigger card that works.

Hello there,
I have a HD2 with NAND Android up and running over MAGLDR.
I've noticed that Ubuntu can now be booted over MAGLDR and I have decided to give it a shoot, since it's easy enough to try.
I have done everything that has to be done, but the problem is when trying to boot over MAGLDR I get this message:
"k: zimage sd kernel open failed"
I do have the zImage and the initrd.gz in the root, also the linux folder.
I've tried going to Services > Boot options > AD SD to choose from where to boot, but it jumps back to main menu.
That's the problem and I'm guessing that MAGLDR doesn't recognize my SD card.
Btw, it's a Kingston 8gb formatted to FAT32 Primary.
I hope you guys can help a fellow HD2 owner out!
Is your recognising SD Card otherwise, other than MAGLDR?
I have faced a similar problem where neither WM6.5 or WP7 or MAGLDR or CLK detect the SD Card however it is detected by bootloader.. See link below

Hello,
it recognizes the SD card everywhere except in MAGLDR.
In the mean time I found a exact same thread like my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315808
Basically it tells me that my SD card just doesn't work with MAGLDR.
So, has anyone found a solution that doesn't involve buying a new SD card?

Unfortunately that thread is right, your SD isn't compatible with MAGLDR. I have the same problem with my Kingston 16GB class 4, so it appears to be something to do with Kingston cards. You should have received a Sandisk with your phone, which is enough if you want to use SD builds only to try ROMs out, but there isn't much you can do to sort it out I'm afraid.

Alright,
well that's kinda sad, tho I still thank you both for the info.
I'm having a similar issue with my 32gb Sandisk class 4 card. It used to work fine, but then Magldr stopped seeing the file structure for sd boot. With trial and error I used gparted to recreate a ms-dos partition table. Just now magldr sees the file structure again.

Was it this? If not, then would you be able to explain how you did it, please? I have the same issue so it would help. To be fair, I haven't really tried to resolve it properly yet, so it's probably an obvious solution which I missed.
It doesn't work once again...
Tho what I did to make it work is using "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition":
1.Delete the partition
2.Create Partition: set Primary, set Fat32, set allocation table to 32K
3.Apply
That's basically it, I copied all my files excluding the linux ubuntu I wanted to try over MAGLDR...
Next day I tried to select AD SD dir and it OPENED it up, I was amazed!
I then booted android, selected to copy over usb, copied over Linux(around 3.2GB).
I rebooted back in to MAGLDR, tried to select AD SD dir and the same problem occurred... :silly:
I have no clue what else can be the problem, I tried then deleting the Linux, because it worked without it, and again same problem...
So basically it stopped working after I connected the sd card over usb while on android to copy linux... from that moment I couldn't select AD SD dir any more, just jumps back to main menu.
I would like suggestions if anyone knows what might happen?
Was I lucky to just make AD SD dir working? Or was it the allocation table I mentioned that I changed to 32K?
EDIT:
I've been thinking...
Since my goal is to have an android NAND and a Ubuntu over SD, is that all possible if I switch the bootloader from MAGLDR to CLK?
I've never tried CLK, but I'm sure it boots Android NAND's just fine, but what about Ubuntu over SD? Does it have problems recognizing SD on CLK?
