How to play music from android through my Amp? - Android Software Development

Hi, a simple question but a hard solutioon, I have an Onkyo amp, that i want to play music through using my phone , I have most connectivity ports on my amp so shouldnt be a problem apart from no USB .. but I cant find my best solution for my samsung galaxy s2.
Solution 1 *
Through 3.5mm Jack, = Yes it works but for some reason I dont get a decent bass, is this normal through 3.5mm jack?
Solution 2
Connect phone to xbox 360 use as storage device. = Works but I cant access my SD-Card, only Internal memory (most of my music is on sd-card)
Possible Solution *
HDMI Out = Not tried, would this work ??
Help me out guys, is there any other ways that would work the way I want ?
Thanks

Solution 1 is there cuz HDMI means u will have to us a TV and then connect it to the amp, So solution is ur only way out!! And don't forget to hit thanks (if I have helped u )

Use the 3.5 jack.... set the eq on the dsp manager which if its not pre installed you can do a search for it on here. Get voodoo control plus and crank the volume.... should be your answer. That's my set up in the car and it sounds awesome.

Hey tried this but didnt work the way I wanted it to, My samsung galaxy s2 kernal doesnt support voodoo plus, but the DSP, made a difference but still no bass.
realisticly i should of explained there is no subwoofer action as apposed to no bass ? my 4 speakers ( 2 front 2 back) work, (1 center doesnt) (1 subwoofer) doesnt.
Am confused where the problem is for having the subwoofer not working with 3.5mm
Is it because its on 3.5mm ??
doesnt my amp not support it? / Is it a setting on my amp???
Is it the phone ????
Just tested an Ipod on 3.5 and get the same responce so i guess its the amp or the 3.5 method??
, So am still unable to play music through my amp from my phone properly at the time...

Hey, am confused to what you mean here :/ .. sorry

Its a setting on your amp... mess with the surround settings. There should be a virtual setting. Onkyo's are pretty nice so I can't see it not having that function.

Has anyone been able to play MP3's through hifi via XDA2???

I'm trying to use my XDA2 as a MP3 player and want to take an audio feed from the XDA2 and put it into my hifi. The only way I can think of is to use the internal serial port and convert it to twin phono's but not sure if this will work. Any bright lights out there know the answer?

Yes, no problems, you will need to make up or purchase a headphone adapter and then simply plug into your line in on your hifi.
Nokia has something like that... a headset converter... and it works in the XDA2.. im currently using my Nokia5510 headset converter in my XDA2 to hook it up to my Car Subwoofers!!! and it just rocks!!! bring out the Bass!!! BOOBOOOOM!!!
yeah or you can just mod ur existing earpiece cable. trying to do the same so i can plug XDA IIs into a Set of decks at my local nightclub (Did it once for my PC) i have the cables but dont really wanna wreck my hands free kit... u have to get i think its a 2.5mm jack to a 3.5mm jack adapter then buy one of thos 3.5mm jacks to phono lead thingys!

Verrry Nice sound output!! especially if you'll use pocketmusic!! so that you'll have an integrated equalizer!! woohooo!!!
Even better, I remember not too long ago seeing a site that had accessories for the XDA2 and saw that they had a cradle just like the one it comes with, but includes the audio-out port on the back (opposite the power-out).
Wasn't it nice of them to leave this feature (and the mic that should be there as seen in the fron bottom left corner of the cradle) out so that we have to buy new ones if we want to get the full functionality of these things?!

You could also try the amazing iRock which you plug into you earphone socket & it transmits on one of 4 FM frequencies to your nearest radio.
(it's illegal in the UK unfortunately, but available from USA etc.)
Don't know where you are located. If ya get caught over here, I never suggested this Guv!
is there ne kinda player which catches local FM channels on the xda II ???
if you by player mean software then no
no software can make a reciever made for 900/1800Ghz
recieve 70Mhz to about 130Mhz where fm stations are
you can get a sd card which recieve radio though

Sound from 3.5" jack and HTC usb ??

I'm curious to know if sound will be passed to the HTC USB aswell as the 3.5" jack ?
I use the E100 adapter all the time as its nice and simple to skip a track and make/answer a call when out and about.
Dont fancy pulling out the HD to skip a track or answer a call all the time

**Bump**
Nobody has any idea ?
I don't the answer to your question, but the answer to your problem is bluetooth. My headphones change volume, track, play/pause and answer the phone. Music resumes after the call. This is using Motorola S805 headphones, WM6 and Mortplayer.
Sound is via jack only, but indeed Bluetooth is a great solution.
Cheers for your replies....

Doesn't the mini USB port need to support sound in order for a wired hands-free headset to work? I'd be really surprised if they a) required a bluetooth headset for hands-free or b) required two jacks (3.5mm and miniUSB) in order to use wired hands-free headset.
If the 3.5 jack has more contacts than just the normal stereo then maybe they have a wired headset that works just from the 3.5mm. It will be interesting to see how they've done it.
It is confusing to me, since the few previewers reported a dedicated audio jack and USB only for charging/data (ActiveSync). HTC in their 16/9 press release do mention the audio jack in the press release, but in the feature list it is not quoted, but there is mention of ExtUSB, but no mention of audio on it. On other HTC press releases for previous models ExtUSB is usually mentioned with audio next to it. Well I guess it is wait and see
Update: This French review in English also says audio jack also for handsfree http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aiw5PsQ50Uc
Check the review on GSMArena - the headset works off the audio jack, so no need to have audio via ExtUSB...
Mmm The Earphones supplied are 4 pole, Earth, Mic, Left and Right.
So disapointed if the Ext USB doest carry sound too... Will make the whole Car mount job look untidy but worst is that you will have to take your HD out of your pocket to skip tracks when using the headset... Sorry thats just pants !!!

Re in car intergration and control, I like this gadget very much.
http://us.kensington.com/html/14484.html
LiquidAUX™ Bluetooth® Car Kit
It comes with a separate wireless remote control that you can mount anywhere in your car, and the sound outputs via 3.5mm jack, so you can connect it easily to your stereo. In addition it auto-connects very well, meaning its really plug and play. It also comes with a separate USB port for charging, meaning you can still charge your phone via USB while this occupies the cigarette lighter.
Surur
Sorry to bring this back up but are we totally sure that the mini usb doesn't carry audio? I haven't been able to get it to work on my car hands free kit but maybe i'm missing something??
If it doesn't i think HTC have misssed a trick.
I've tried with a couple of audio headsets, always says "not supported, disconnect".

[Q] Head phones with mic

Hey people. Thanks for all info, been reading about the defy here for some time. Got one now and I love it. I had a few smartphones before and this is by far the one I would stick to forever if I had to.
So, my question is: Are there any good head phones (in-ear plugs, with mic and maybe even music controlers) avaliable, and that I can be certain to be compatible with the Defy? Or could I just buy any that works fine with other Android or Motorola devices? Motorola is not sold in Sweden where I live, so it's not like I can check out any stores IRL here...
With my Xperia x20 mini, exacly what I described came along with the phone. Too bad that you just got these normal plugs with the defy. Cos there is just no way I would use those. As of now I stick to my old head phones but I'd love the mic function with my In-ear plugs.
Thanks for any help!
Ekholm
Ok, so I found this site:
thinkmotoroladefy.com/wiredheadsets.html
and it's all looking good, except for the part that they are a bit low-priced. I'm looking for high quality ones. I.e my current head phones was about 90 USD.
For information, iphone handsfree works fine
Thanks!
By chance, does anyone know if "Klipsch Image S4i" would work? they seams to be perfect! Volume, track fwd bwd and play...
I got one of these a few months ago, works fine with my HTC Desire. Not the best headphones in the world, but more than capable of handling a bus ride. You can unplug the headphones, clip on a small plastic hook and use it as an in-ear Bluetooth headset too. Two birds with one stone
I can get around 10 hours out of them between charges.
Thanks, it seams to be mono, right? Mono doesnt sound too thrilling...
If you use power amp you can set it up to use the controls on headphones to start and stop music, instead of calling the last number you called. It will work on the lock screen too.
This was the only way of getting it to work i found for the defy and i tried about 10 different headphones with in-line controls. Bluetooth stereo sets like the one above with controls seem to work fine for music however, ive got a sony bluetooth set and the controls worked right away on the standard media player.

Hi everybody I'm new,
Does anyone can confirm this pinout for Defy's jack 3.5mm?
1. Tip - Left audio
2. Ring - Right audio
3. Ring - Ground
4. Sleeve - Mic
or this used in most mobiles:

I use Razer Moray+™ they have no remote function so you have to answer the call on the phone. But you have a mic and the work good for musik and phone calls.
anyone got an update for this, still looking for ear buds with a mic.
Klipsch Pro Media set(based on the S4i but a bit better build for traveling etc).
Awesome set up with defy. The S5i rugged set is also great as they are moisture proof and very overbuilt.

Yeah, exactly as you wrote.
I remade cheap handset with remote (from eg. www.ebay.com).
It works with any headphones
I used my original headset on a iphone before. So I assume that every headset that works on the iphone should also work on the defy.

I wonder if Sony Ericsson's headsets work. These seem pretty good:

Would be good if they work.
BTW, I tried Samsung Galaxy SL's Stereo In ear handsfree and the sound quality was just awesome! Might get myself one of those!!
I've tried the iPhone standard headphones and sound works but Mic and controls don't. There is a pair of sennheiser mm50 Nokia. Which will work fine. Ordering one shortly.
Hi
I can confirm that at least not all iphone headset work the defy, even if the pinout is identical. I tried the Sennheiser MM70i and they don't work!
I soldered the mic of the standard Headset to the MM70 and now im happy,
but definitely nothing i can recommend

earphones headset issue

I have already tried 2 different headsets with my i9000.They were working fine in the beggining but now the left one works in a VERY low volume.I tried with voodoo but nothing changed. Can someone help me with Service Mode.I think there is the problem and the solution .thanks!
U broke ur head phones, simple as that.

I already said that i have tested another pair and they work fine in listening music etc. When the audio jack is a simple 2way then the music works fine. When i insert a 3way(with mic) audio jack, samsung & 3rd party earphones with mic, one speaker doesnt work even nearly as loud as the other.
Maybe low battery, u may have not noticed low battery.

That's because the 3 way audio jack is meant for apple products, I had this problem before until I realised that you had to hold down the mic button. If you want these to work you can buy adapters on ebay on the cheap.
i have the same problem after installing cm 7.1 - earphones works with any other device, but not with my sgs. holding down mic button doesn't work. I tried to use adaptors added to my urbanears headset (dedicated for nokia / other devices) - still the same issue.
well isnt there any way the Service mode can alter to balance the speakers?I have used voodoo with great results in normal earphones 2way-jack,but on the 3way it becomes a little loud but not as the other speaker!Abput the adaptors i have noticed people who worked for them and people who didnt. What adapter is the most <trustworthy>?
If you are using headset (earphone+mic+remote) for Apple or HTC, get a 3.5mm male to female TRRS adapter.
This will solve your problem.
No i am using the original samsung headset and another headset to check if the samys if faulty!i am fooling around inside service mode but cant find anything. How do i revert any changes back to stock in the Service mode?
anyone get to the bottom of this - driving me mad !
original headset - v low volume - increases when you push mic button
very weird
Original Sammy-made headphones (3 way) work fine on sgs. I had problem like this because I was simply not plugging 'em down and now headphones work normally. Since 3-way female 3.5mm is unified for all devices, you have to try to blow out all dust out of the phone 'cuz audio port isn't covered like usb or this plug in as far as possible.
I am also facing same sort of problem, most of the headphones don't work during call but do work on music
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
I have tried everything - phones are definitely pushed in properly - port is clean , as asrafw says phone volume on headset is fine for music - just rubbish for calls . Asra does your mic key on headset being held increase volume ?
I have found the opposite - do not push them all the way down then they work fine !
Headphones
You have to buy an iPhone-Nokia adapter, or switch the ground and data pins on any other headphone, which is designed iPhone-style.
To verify that the headset is that kind, if you press the middle button, then you should hear the music clearly.
Or buy headphones made for Nokia or Sony (Ericsson) products.
Even Samsung have changed to the new style with Galaxy Tab, so no proof that if it works with newer Samsung products, then it will work with our phones.
Have you tried a neutral stereo adapter. I got one with my UrbanEars headphones and they work well with it attached.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Yes, the middle button (mic) does improve volume - so what you are saying is that these headsets never worked properly ever !
Do you have a photo of the adapters you 2 are using - just want to make sure I get it right ,
cheers
This is a pic of my cable. I noticed last night that the headphone plug itself is a little different than the neutral stereo plug in that the neutral plug on has two coloured bands whereas the headphone plug has 3. This must be the difference between I pods and earlier androids.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
thanks - I presume that is 2.5mm to 3.5mm convertor ?
Hmmm think its a 2-way / 3-way thing rather than a size thing.

Sorry to say but it sounds like the digitizer is on it's way out. Replacing the digitizer is probably the only perminent fix. But don't just take my work for it, keep looking it still may yet be another solution out there for you.
I found a solution without replacing any hardware or soldering.
Follow these steps:
1. Download Android Terminal Emulator: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm
2. Delete your default music player with this tutorial: http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20098610-285/removing-stock-apps-on-rooted-android-devices/ (I use this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860 and my default music player was named: Music.apk)
3. Download Winamp: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5udWxsc29mdC53aW5hbXAiXQ.. (to replace your default music player)
Tell me if it works
Common issue with some headsets & ROM headset driver/software & not related to digi as far as I have seen.
So if its a common issue are there other ways to fix it? Is there no way to just disable headset input?
Seen it in threads & on 2 colleagues HD2s when using some headset types.
Problem is audio feed bridges to remote connector on some leads with less than perfect connectors for the HD2 jack.
Using a standard headset adapted to 3.5mm female after buttons is one good option.
Saw a few threads on people looking for way to isolate remote driver but do not know the outcome but worth doing some searching.

Done on standard original headset lead it works perfect with after market headsets.
You may also get lucky with adapter like your link ...
What is the model name of that adapter?
And isn't that a 2,5 mm jack?
3.5mm jack added to standard genuine headset, done similar to my original headset and use aftermarket headphones & retain standard remote function without issues.
