Got a stock 3.0 3G xoom and I get text messages coming through on the notification bar. Had one earlier letting me know content control had been removed, so just text myself andnit does come through. Don't know where it goes after I've clicked ok but at least I get something. Now if only I knew whether it was filling up the sims memory or storage on the phone???

Am I the only one having issues tryin' to send a mass txt? I've tried sending a mass txt to at least 8+ folks and the status stays at "Sending..."
I've tried everything from pullin' out the battery and SIM card to fully resetting the phone but still no luck... I know its not a "network" issue because I can send the mass txt from my BB Bold 9700 without any issues.
Anyone else having this issue???

Tmobile themselves have told me to send ur self two mms whenever getting a new phone not sure if that will help

How many of you guys use Gvoice as your text messaging client? I just ported my number over to Gvoice a couple weeks back and I dont know if its tmobiles 3g but it doesnt update and notify me of new messages right away. If i reboot the phone I will then be notified of a missed call and voicemail or sms.
I though after the 2.3.3 update it would be fixed because of that whole sudden loss of data but it just happened again today.
Anyone have a similar issue?

Make sure you have background synching on and.... you have it set in the voice settings so everything goes smoothly.
Rooted/ROM Captivate (For Sale)
Rooted Atrix
Ok cool, thank you!

I see this sometimes on the nexus one. Not always though. Usually voice texts and messages come right away, and sometimes they are delayed. I have to go into Google voice, hit refresh, then they all come thru. Guess its a bug.
Im on constant edge when not at home and keep auto sync off and background data on. I still get them all on time.
I love free texting!

If your signal strength indicator is green on a Nexus S, then you have a C2DM connection with Google's servers, and can receive push notifications. If it is white, then the connection is dead, and your notifications are being queued.
My voicemail icon keeps coming back randomly even though I have nothing in my voicemail box. Does anyone know what causes this? It's getting reeeeeally annoying!

Is it just saying you have a voicemail or is there another message displayed when you drop down your notifications?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
It's saying 'New Voicemail' but there isn't one. Not rooted, no ROM, totally stock.
Not sure about that issue. I know I would get the icon and it stated inbox full if I had less than 100MB (maybe 200MB) of available space on the phone. I had to go through everything and figure out what I really needed on the phone and get rid of the extra junk (thanks Amazon).
You might want to try dialing into your voicemail and see if there is actually a message that visual voicemail isn't downloading. I had that happen on my G1.

Nope, that didnt do anything. This is so annoying. I dont want to have to hard reset over this.
Anyone else have any ideas? Something occurred to me just now. I remember I created a voicemail message by accident by calling my phone with Google Talk on my laptop. I then deleted the voicemail in Google Voice on the laptop. But I'm wondering if MAYBE the message was deleted but the notification was still sent out from Google to my phone and got stuck there when I deleted the message online.?? That make sense?

This happened to me once a long time ago (back when I had a measly Nokia dumbphone). It had something to do with my service provider's network. From what I can remember, which may or may not be accurate, is that the voicemail icon is turned on/off by an unseen sms. For some reason, my phone wasn't getting the "off" sms or something. I ended up calling my service provider and then they sent something across the network that sort of reset that. No idea what they did, but it worked.
Go to <settings <call and click "Clear voicemail notification"

I had the same problem, and this worked. Thanks!
I had the same problem recently. I grabbed my wife's phone and left myself a message, it fixed it.
Done. Fixed. My wife called the phone, left a new message, we deleted it and the notice hasnt come back.

Hello,
I have an 3G N7 and know that it can not receive / send SMS. OK, that is what was told of.
But today I got a notification that I have a message in notification bar, opened it and it looked like a regular SMS message.
Then I tested myself, I sent a normal SMS to my tablet gsm number and received it instantly. I'm on Vodafone if that makes any sense.
Build number is JDQ39 - baseband 1231_0.17.0_1205, Kernel 3.1.10-g05b777c.
Obviously this is some app inside that handles the received message, what's the app name ? location ? at least is interesting to know that at least SMS I can receive. How can I access it ?
Best regards,
Radu
Hi, i also have the same question. Anybody knows?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Download Go sms from store.
Google Voice works great on the N7 for sending and receiving sms, also. Sms works over wifi or data.
I maybe not beein too explicit.
I have received two SMS, regular kind, sent through my gsm carrier.
As i received them, means there is some app that recognise it and can handle the sms.
Question is, what is the app, how can i acces the messages received.
I'm aware of various solutions for sms that require to have an online account, in order to handle sms, do not want to use this kind of service.
Also, there is hack to install sms/mms apk by rooting, but, again this is not the object of my question.
I just want to check my incoming sms's for now.
Best regards,
Radu
Like mentioned above, if you install gosms or any other third party app it should allow you to view that text message that came through the carrier

Long press the notification and press "App Info" and that will tell you the name of the app.
Hello again,
Here is screenshot and detaild of the app.
As it says it receives SMS, but also can write SMS- see last line, in theory.
Question is, where can find this app. Looks to be hidden..

How to do so with stock mms.apk has already been covered here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34282107
Right in the N7 3G dev section. XDA search function is highly recommended

Hello Rebel,
I know the MMS.APK, saw it, thank you for heads up.
My specific question is, why should I use that, if I have an app already installed. I do get SMSs from any regular gsm phone, without being necessary to create an online account for GOSMSPRO or whatever similar. The screen shot says that I might be able to send also, on my cost SMSs. No probIem, just want to find that app that handles the SMS received. Can I do that ? can I send using same app that is ALREADY installed?
thank you for patience

So it seems the 'Simple message receiver' is an app that comes with the 3g N7. Mine is just wi-fi, so I can't check, but does your app drawer have that app? If you check Settings > Apps > All, is it listed there? I have no idea how to open it if it is not in the app drawer or if you would be able to send using it anyway. Interesting that it is included in the 3G version.

Yes. As thw thread states, they are successfully receiving and sending sms from the same app over gsm, just as you would on a phone. The only difference i forsee is doing so with a dedicated data sim, or using the sim from your existing phone.
Many are using the latter, and using other apps to forward thier phone calls to the data side, and using sms normally.

Is there a way to change the priority of cards when you get a new notification? For example, most things such as texts and fb messages appear at the top when I get a new notification, but for emails, they always appear at the bottom of the cards and I'm not sure why.
