i updated to 2.33 now when i boot into recovery i get a phone with a red triangle. The only thing I can do is remove the battery to reboot. What do i need to do?
Thanks,
Did you update via the OTA from Sprint? Are you rooted?
Yes updated OTA from sprint and yes Rooted
If you took the ota from sprint you're no longer rooted.... Sorry... But to stay rooted you needed to flash a rooted ROM...

Okay, well if you updated via the OTA then you are more than likely now unrooted. You are getting the red triangle because you don't have a recovery anymore. Unless I am mistaken, you should still be able to get into the hboot screen though. Are you holding volume down and the power button?
Yes i can so do I need to root again

Well if you can get into hboot it should say S-OFF or S-ON near the top. If you are S-OFF you may be able to reverse the not being rooted issue. But, if you are S-ON you are out of luck and will have to wait for someone to find a new exploit for rooting the new update.

If your bootloader is S off still, all you need to do is flash a PC36IMG of a recovery image. From that point flash a new Rom. If you want to be on the ota update, then just flash a rooted version, which would've been way easier for youth do in the first place.

Ok I see S-off how to I get S-On
I did and I was able to get to Hboot and I see S-off at the top how do I get S-on
Put this on root of sd http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=PC36IMG.zip
download and dont extract just drag it to sd card and go to bootloader it should say update press vol up for update then when its done uploading you will have amon ra it only works if youre S-OFF

You DON'T want s-on, so just place the zip posted above me in your sdcards root and flash it in the bootloader.
yes S-off I place the file PC36img.zip on SD now how do I boot without recovery
I am sorry "Flash" without recovery
boot into bootloader then go into fastboot and it should start updating then when its done u have amon ra and can flash a rom from there but first put tht file on sd card
Apparently, taking the OTA while staying rooted keeps you S-off.
Makes me laugh even HARDER at people who unrooted to take the OTA

I just rooted it with adb. I don't have the Clock recovery installed. I don't have alot of time either. Please tell me my options. Here is my hboot screen.

Every phone i have had from the g1, mytouch 3g, vibrant, and now g2 it never fails to amaze me how people who dont know what they are doing manage to brick their phone in under a day. PROTIP READ learn what you are doing before you go in doing it so you dont screw yourself.

Yeah. Best bet would be to flash a custom recovery through fastboot and then reinstall the stock rooted rom or install a custom ROM.
And hopefully not make things worse botching the recovery flash

Yup, exacly what he said.. also, I don't think editing the statusbar from a stock is possible because its odexed, correct me if I am wrong though.. unless you really know what you're doing.. so now after flashing recovery, try again with a nandroid if you have yours if not with fastludeh's stock odex or deodex rom if you want to keep it stock.

You'll need to download this to your android-sdk tools folder:
http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-vision.img
Then go into fastboot and type
fastboot erase recovery
followed by
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-vision.img
From there you should put a custom ROM (probably CM6 or enomthers) or rooted stock as advised above on your SD card, boot into clockwork, wipe system/data and install the ROM (and gapps if you do CM6).
And please remember: nandroids are your friend

And just so you know, your lucky that you flashed the ENG HBOOT, without that, you would have been screwed.

Wait, does he have engineering HBOOT installed? The HBOOT screen he listed says SHIP. Without the ENG HBOOT, he won't be able to fastboot the ClockworkMod Recovery.
To the OP, you probably will have to flash back to the official HTC ROM. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788489.
And yes, as others have stated, you should make a nandroid backup prior to messing with system files. You cannot edit the framework without DEODEX-ing the system first.

Are you sure he can do that? Because theres like a sticky in the dev section of the forums saying NOT to do that unless you know what your doing or only if you flash the EXACT same ROM that came shipped with your phone, or something like that.
EDIT: And if you do have to flash an RUU, could you please explain how? I would like to know how just in case I screw something up(which I probably won't because I have been on my computer searching the forum, asking for help and to double check that what I have learned is correct and what to do if something bad happens for the past week or two) and I can also use the information to help other users.

That was a warning because if you had S-Off and root it would put S-On and remove root. It was an issue because for a while it was impossible to root the DZ's 1.72 RUU but this has since been worked around and doesn't apply to the G2.

Did you take the OTA already? If so, you no longer have recovery. As the OP stated, since you still have S-off, you just need to reflash your recovery. Download a PC36IMG of Amon Ra's recovery, and flash it with your bootloader. Then you'll have recovery.
Download Amon RA PC36IMG.zip and install it to the root of your SD card, Then boot into Recovery "Pull the Battery hold the Volume Down Button and Press Power"
The PC36IMG.ZIP should start to read by the recovery it will say update recovery follow what it says it should say up to install down for no, let it finish then after that you can install any rom of your choosing
Idk..every time I put the file on the root of the sdcard it never reads it..even on the older bootloaders.

Hi, everyone who have been waiting for a way to downgrade their HBOOT so that they can get S-OFF, cause they upgraded to the Official RUU Rom... I think I found a solution for you!
Also give you permanent ClockWork Recovery!
I haven't test it on any other Slide, cause I have only one. So, sorry if it didn't work for you.
Here is what I did, in case you're wondering, I downloaded the Official RUU from HTC Support website, extracted the 'rom.zip' file from Windows Temp folder that it creates, replaced the newer 1.02 HBOOT with 0.52 HBOOT, that I got from 'ESPRIMG.zip' (the Stock rom).
And also replaced the recovery.img with ClockWork Recovery img file.
Then I just renamed the 'rom.zip' file to 'ESPRIMG.zip'
Put it in the root of my memory card, powered off, rebooted into BOOTLOADER, and it detected the file and asked me if I wanted to update, I chose YES, and it went on without a hitch. Next thing I knew, I had 0.52.0000 HBOOT, with permanent ClockWork Recovery(so I dont have to use 'update.zip' anymore), and also the Official Latest 2.15.531.3 unmodified rom, (I like stock Espresso, that's why I bought it ) but you will LOSE ROOT but SuperOneClick method works for me to gain root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Method:
1. Download this 'ESPRIMG.zip' file - http://www.mediafire.com/file/cuemg74en7kk0a3/ESPRIMG.zip
2. copy/paste it to your memory card, in the root, not on any folder.
3. Make sure your card formatted to FAT32 file system, or it won't detect it.
4. Do a Nandroid BACKUP, if you can, cause I don't know if this will work for you. But it will wipe all your data and setting. SO BACKUP!
5. First you need to wipe data and factory setting, and wipe cache and wipe davlik cache (Otherwise it bootlooped for me). So boot into recovery first!
You can do that by going into BOOTLOADER first then selecting Recovery ( for that remove memory card from mobile or else it will start update) or if you have ROM Manager then you can use that to reboot into Recovery, any recovery will do stock or clockwork.
6. Ok, so after Wiping from recovery. PULL battery, then insert back the memory card with ESPRIMG.zip file on it. Reboot into BOOTLOADER, and apply the update.
It should do a reboot automatically to downgrade the HBOOT.
You will see the change if it worked. After applying the update, reboot phone normally.
And if all done correctly, you should have 0.52.0000 HBOOT, and also a permanent ClockWork Recovery. Now you can root by using SuperOneClick method. And also get S-OFF (I didn't need it, cause I have permanent S-OFF! , at least that's how I explain it)
Im guessing it worked for me because I have a factory unlocked S-OFF HBOOT from HTC. Because, to try this out first, I updated my phone via the OFFICIAL RUU from HTC Support Website and it showed S-OFF on my 1.02.0000 HBOOT.
Then I tried this method and it did downgrade my HBOOT and I still had S-OFF without doing the AlphaREV method.
So I guess I have a kind of permanent S-OFF??! :S :?
Hit thanks if it helped.
I am no developer but I am learning
Any feedback would be appreciated.
And yes, my major is CS and I LOVE IT!
any one test this yet?
If i try this and it does not downgrade my HBOOT will my phone be bricked? Will I lose root? I would love to try, but would like a little certainty.....

I don't think that you phone will be bricked, it would just not downgrade it but the HBOOT will remain. Yes you will lose root, but that can be gained easily by SuperOneClick Root Method.
I not certain myself about the brick. Flash at your own risk.

I'll be trying it once the download finishes for me. I'll update you guys on whether or not it worked for me.
I'm using a full stock phone btw, factory reset and blank sdcard as well. Hopefully this works for me.
UPDATE:
Looks like this was a dud.
I applied the update 3 times to my phone, but my Hboot still didn't downgrade. It's still on 1.02.0000. Also didn't flash the permanent Clockwork Recovery that we were hoping for either.
I'm guessing your permanent s-off is what let you use this successfully. So for anyone who has S-OFF already this would probably work fine.
On the plus side, it didn't brick me =)

You can root without downgrading. You only need to downgrade to get s-off. Just unlock your bootloader and fastboot flash cwm recovery, then flash superuser thru recovery and you will be rooted. The only way to get s-off is to downgrade. However s-off is reccomended, and only requires a few extra steps to get.

If your s-off you just need to flash cwm thru hboot. Download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/PB31IMG.zip, and place it on your sdcard in no folders. Pull the battery, reinsert, and hold vol down and power till a white screen appears (hboot). It should find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install.
Once cwm is installed, download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Superuser/SuperUser_3.0.7.zip, and place it on your sdcard. Then go to hboot again and select recovery. In recovery select install zip from sd card and select the su file. Once flashe you are rooted. Once you boot up, install busybox from the market, and go to the superuser app and check for binary updates.
