seeing as how im new to the forums and i dont have 10 posts yet so i cant post in the developers forum, i'd like to extend my thanks here. i HAD a locked ATT x10 with 1.6. i was concerned about backing up my phone since ATT locked the ericsson backup & restore application. so i found the APK and downloaded it on my laptop, i then sideloaded it with android sdk via adb install and was able to back everything up before hand. i then continued with the flashtool 0.2.5 version and bundled the decrypted 2.1 ROM. i continued with the flash as instructed (including wipe userdata) and i got a flashtool log of:

i tried flashing the first time and noticed the 24/037/2011 10:37:57 - INFO - ### read failed : checksum err!
i turned the phone back on and it restarted with the old 1.6 still intact with no changes. i then proceeded to try the process and second time and I got the same error except this time the flash process took much longer. i thought i bricked my phone as it tried to boot and showed me a picture of a camera and then the SE logo for a long time... i proceeded to wait and VOILA! even with the checksum error 2.1 is loaded and i was able to restore my settings with 2.1 installed. i havent found any errors yet and wifi seems to turn on just fine.. havent found a single problem yet. does anyone know what this checksum error equates to?
but like i said everything seems to work as of now, i have to extend many thanks! i look forward to hopefully a stable 2.3 gingerbread in the future, thank you!
i have however noticed that instead of a "3G" connection i now see an "H", i went into "about phone" and "status" it says its using HSPA... is this bad? i know it stands for high spee packet access but im unsure of the transfers rate between it and 3g...but more importantly...why has it changed after upgrading to 2.1?
i believe "H" is faster then 3g and was just an added feature in 2.1
sure hope so...i wonder if theres a way to switch back if i want to...save battery life.
You can switch to gsm in wireless conections, mobile nets, net mode, and select only gsm (2g), so you can save battery but it is also slower. Sorry if the menu names doesn't match exactly, are translated form spanish version.
"H"
I gotta thank the devs for this tool also. Flashing, rooting, cleaning, optimising everything went fine on mine. What else can you wish for?
The H is totally normal and it is really faster than 3G...there's nothing to worry about

H is for HSPA, as you've figured out. It is what AT&T was installing in 2010 while the other carriers were installing fake 4G. H is for 3.5G.
HSPA+ will be AT&T's first go with 4g, ultimately moving on to LTE. HSPA+ will be a high-speed fallback network for when AT&T fails to provide adequate data coverage. Neither of those will likely run on the X10, so the H is our last upgrade of that nature.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
i know theres gotta be some high level gee wiz bang developer from either Sony or AT&T that can tell us whether or not the X10's transceiver will be able to run HSPA+ or LTE; whether it requires a software upgrade or not.
Hi..!
I download a file named "Root_Unroot_Sony_1.5.rar" from this forum 3 weeks ago for my XPERIA ARC LT15i to root it without flashing...and it worked perfectly..
but I decided to do a factory reset, you know there are lots of junks and trashes on the phone...then I did a unroot process with the same program again..and it worked again..but after FACTORY RESET i noticed the HOME BUTTON doesnt work..? but why?
and im pissed off so much now...
The firmware on the phone is 2.3.4 so it is 4.0.2.A.0.42 original generic rom..
What can I do now ? fast answers will be appreciated..!
1. The menu and home buttons' keypresses are detected but the respective actions aren't executed.
2. The lockscreen doesn't get activated.
3. The power menu has only reboot and power off as options. The rest of the options like Airplane Mode and Profiles.
This is your issues? If yes, try This
Thanks for the reply...
now another weird problem i have which is when i try to flash my LT15i with 4.0.2.A.0.42 original generic rom via Flashtool-0.5.3.0 i get this message ;

No, you've got it wrong: ftf files are extracts of the Sony download services, there is no way to change them. The customization is done by Sony themselves.

you cant. but some people say that TA partition isnt important anymore to get bravia engine working. so you might unlock your bootloader without any loss of functionality. I dont know if its true though, maybe someone else does?
you have two options:
backup TA of current rooted phone.
install latest firmware. unlock bootloader, root, relock bootloader
if its true and you can savley unlock your bootloader just unlock it and flash rooted kernel or superuser zip
Can someone please confirm with me that when i flash this kitkat version of android on my c6602, that i can then root it using the 'towelroot' app

SO-03F firmware is for NTT docomo (bloated) and contains color emoji font for docomo.
You can't flash SO-03F FTF directly to D65xx because error will be occurred when you flash system.sin.

Didn't try it yet as I already have Nougat.
Flashing Nougat FTF should work now.
Awesome
What the procedure to go about rooting the XZ? Im on 7.0 Nought never used flashtools before
I have rooted devices before
I have read something about DRM keys ? and camera problems do I need to worry about these?
forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong section
That sounds awesome, its an awesome tool.
Has anybody tried flashing 7.0 with this new flashtool release? Did it work as you'd expect.
I'm eager to do a fresh install and I like the way flashtool does it.
Thanks in advance
Yes i did. It works perfectly!

Just to add to previous post (cant edit it webpage breaks)
So how are these one click/tap root applications ? what are the risks... baring it not working? such as kingroot or oneclickroot ..etc
I think you have to check the folder "Download" at "Directory chosen". And you have to unlock your bootloader for rooting, as for now there is no method for rooting with locked bootloader.
I'm having the same issue as Charun_za, Flashtool is not seeing the firmware I downloaded with XperiFirm.
Edit: I had to create the FTF from the downloaded firmware. Now everything seems to be working fine.
Flashing failed..
No luck for me this time..
"For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings" -- enabled.
Also tried at office with another PC. This time flashtool didn`t ask for phone version, but flashing failed with same error.
Version used - for windows.
