5mp camra on droid x? - Droid X General

So I rooted my phone and I'm running the fissin 2.5.7_be and I just realized that the camra takes up to 5mp pictures...is there a way to change it to 8mp? Also if not is there another rom that that does have a 8mp camra? And if I'm going to switch roms do I need to sbf first or can I just wipe the cache and data and then install rhe new rom?

You should be able to take 8MP pictures.. And yeah, sbf_flash first, then when you're stuck on bootloop, wipe it in recovery.

Ok, so wipe, sbf, then wipe again when its stuck in bootloop? Lol and recovery is power and menu right? Also how do I take the 8mp pix? Cuz when I go into the camra it only has a option for 2 3 and 5mp.

Yes. To sbf: Hold Volume Up + Camera + Power.
To wipe data/factory reset: Home + Power. (Hit search when triangle comes up, and use volume buttons to navigate; camera button to select.)
On my camera, I just go to settings then "Picture Resolution" You should have the options for 8MP, 5MP, 3MP, and 1MP.

By the way, make sure your phone is charged pretty well before SBF'ing. Wouldn't want you to brick yourself on the first try.

Ok thanx, lol n really? Are u on the same rom?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

You need to install the Blur camera for Fission to get the 8 MP option.

Thanx guys, I actually installed the update for the fission rom, n now I have the 8mp option

Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to fix my X and how to flash
Try booting into moto recovery (hold down the menu button along with the power button, when the picture of the green android guy comes up, push the search button)
Do another wipe data/factory reset and reboot. If that doesnt work then you will need to sbf

Unless this guy ^^^^ works for Verizon or Moto and is holding out on the rest of the Android community... anyone can get access to the files to unbrick your phone. Check out mydroidworld for the 2.3.32 full sbf and the 2.3.34 system only sbf. If you need more help with sbf files, post back, and myself, or one of many other people are likely to help you out.
PS... to smeyers1012...unless you have "Secret files" please just offer the help in the forum... it makes it easier for everyone =) Thank you

If I'm reading this correctly ??
After reloading the Market programs, if you want to stick with the full "Maderstcok SBF".
You must do a full reboot BEFORE Rooting, Rom's, breathing, Or anything else.
IMHO kick the Rom manager to the side of the road , Again IMHO.
Then do what you wish.
When I use Maderstcok's SBF I bypass the market downloads so that I can then
get to the new Rom i,m really trying to get to.
Maderstcok SBf, full reboot, Root, Rom

you need to get an sbf file of 2.2.1 and then use rsd lite to flash it to your phone... then you can use clockwork to get back.
I understand that. I'm trying to wipe data to clear up the constant sync error except I have no way of wiping data. Make sense?

Recovery Access in GB
Besides using a reboot into rocovery app, you can also shut down the phone, then pull the battery, put the battery back in and the normal Vol Down + Power will get you into Clockwork Recovery. Seems like GB is in some kind of stand by mode even when you power it down.

LOL, yeah took me a minute to figure out the new key combos when I did a wipe after flashing to GB a week or two ago.
Using root explorer rename the file BlurContactsSync.apk to BlurContactsSync.apk.bak
This will remove the sync icon. No need to wipe. It's a redundant file that does what Google sync does natively.

I did the hard reset. The phone is crashing nonstop. Freezes for sometimes 4+ minutes and then reboots.
I am using Launcher Pro. I'm going to try to ditch it and see if that helps.
Thanks for the info on the new button config. to get into that mode to instal GB I used the search key.
I installed the rooted version of 2.3.3 on mine, I had a similar problem. All I done was factory reset, wipe cache, and wiped dalvik cache. That fixed it. This was all done by using droid 2 bootstrap program, not stock recovery.

Use the Droid 2 bootstrapper because it gives a newer version of clockworkmod recovery
At this point, install instructions almost always dictate which bootstrapper to use X vs. 2, but currently we are using Droid2 on GB because its a newer version. There are people saying once GB is flashed you can use Dx, but.... why not just use D2... heres the thread.
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/g...rapper-gingerbread-4-5-588-clarification.html
I believe the persistent sync icon was avoidable by wiping data before flashing GB as stated in the pre-release thread, but if the contacts thing fixes it...

You would need to use Root Explorer to change it. Make sure you mount the folder as R/W.
The easy way is to:
1. Go into "Settings"
2. Go into "Applications"
3. Select "Manage Applications"
4. Select "All"
5. Find the following and clear the data and cache.
"Contacts Sync". "Google Contacts Sync", "Google Calendar Sync",
This did it for me.

[Q] Help With 2ndinit

I've rooted my wifes regular Defy (red lens). She'd like to try CM10 out, which I've been running for the past couple months on my Defy.
She's on stock T-Mobile US ROM and rooted. Installed Defy 2ndInit 2.3, granted it superuser permissions, clicked the install button, and was told "success" (green led was also on).
However, after rebooting her phone, the blue or green led never turns on like it does on my phone.
We've both been running custom ROM's for so long that I've not had to do this in a long time. Updating her from CM7 to CM10 didn't go well so I had to flash an SBF to her phone.
Any idea what I did wrong? Should I just try a different version?
Did you follow the instructions regarding USB debugging before installing 2ndinit?

Yah, USB debugging is turned on. In fact, it won't even let you install the recovery if USB debugging isn't enabled.
All you can do is: full wipe and flash stock sbf. use the latest version of 2ndinit. Beyond that I have no ideas
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
See thats the thing, I already flashed a stock SBF and used the latest version of 2ndinit.
I didn't do a full wipe prior because I was unable to enter custom recovery. Is there an option to do a full wipe in the stock recovery? I don't even recall how to get into it.
To enter stock recovery, press the volume up key while starting and hold. when you see a background hold both volume keys to get the menu for data wipe
IMO I think something is not getting wiped in the flash. You can try a legacy version of 2ndinit too. Select the ti blank flash option in rsdlite. Stock sbf+ data wipe + rooting is sufficient for 2ndinit. It certainly is a queer problem

I guess I was using Android 2.1 SBF, which you can enter recovery on by touching the bottom-right of the screen.
Anyway, after updating to 2.2 OTA, I was able to get custom recovery installed via 2ndinit. So all is good.

OK, if you want to get to stock recovery and you've already got the little android guy with the triangle on the screen, just touch the bottom right corner of your screen.
That should bring you into stock recovery if you're on eclair.
There's probably an OTA update available for you. To check for that, go to Settings, About Phone, and then Check For Updates (may be worded slightly different). I don't know if vodaphone ever did an update for the Defy though in India. But I suppose they probably did.
i have only four options available.
* Reboot System now
* Apply SDCard:update.zip
* Wipe data/factory reset
* Wipe Cache Partition
last night i tried with all the options and the only thing happened, just got all my data and app wiped. When I reboot the device, i got my eclair back and restored all the data using titanium. Am I doing something wrong here?
In fact, my device is not vodafone dependent. There are no updates available till date. In addition, i was trying to flash it using ICS CM10.
