I'm looking forward to a nice magic 8 ball!
Quake I was already ported, no?? Even 2 times! First a free port for all devices and years later a second time commercially for graphics hardware accelerated device (- only for one single Asus device I believe).
Even Quake II was already ported!
I konw that, and i suppose the autor of this thread also knows it, but as you said it was ported with hw support only for dell, so it's about time someone got it running with hardware on Diamond

I have a lot of paid apps from when my Droid was the Android love of my life ($50+ easily). I always did like apps that made my Droid as much of a mini computer as possible, so now those same types of apps I bought back then are even better for getting the most out of my Xoom. They include PhoneMyPC, PrinterShare, DroidScannerPro, & DocumentsToGo.
Since I got my Xoom I've purchased some games, but also AndCAD, which is a fantastic basic AutoCAD-like app that allows me to work on fairly complex part design on the go. It's 25 bucks, the most I've ever spent on an app, but it helped land a $2800 job within one week of buying it.
Good apps are what make Android really outshine other mobile OSes by showing off it's versatility.
I have spent over $50, though I am not sure how much in total. I have had an Android phone since the developer G1 so I have accumulated a lot of cruft.
ADWLauncher EX
Documents To Go
Newsrob
Copilot Live (the initial, more expensive, release)
Copilot Premium (the cheaper, updated app)
A couple of different RDC apps (Pocket Cloud, Xtralogic, and one other that I no longer use)
iDisplay (big let down, but not worth the effort of a refund)
Rom Manager Premium
A dozen or so random games/utilities not worth listing individually (such as sodoku premium, robo defense, SU File Manager, greed, etc...)
Side note, is there any way to permanently remove a paid application from your list? There are a couple I know I will never use again such as greed and scan2pdf. I would just as soon remove those (and some other free apps) from my apps list so it is not so cumbersome to look through.
Too long to even list lol. Been buying apps since the Google g1 phone lol
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
easy $50+ considering i switched from iphone when my contract came close... at first i bought a few apps that were good and useful to me on my iphone but as not all were ported to android it led me to find other apps and franky some awesome ones at that.. TrackChecker is one as i buy alot from online i can track anything anywhere right on me phone, tab and till it gets to my door
the rest it seems have been listed by other members
I tallied up my apps and I've spent at least $150 on apps in just under 2 years (since the original Motorola Droid). That's less than $10/month, which seems kinda low. I feel the need to go buy a bunch of paid apps now...

Not sure. Between $75-$100, I'd guess since I got my Xoom.
Of course, I've been using Android since the day the G1 was released, so I'm sure the grand total is somewhere between $100-$150. It would probably be higher if Google had allowed devs to sell from day one... something that still bums me out. I had built some really popular apps back in the day, and if I could have charged even $.99....

Skyd UX - Apps [New Pics] and ROM

Hello guys,
WP7Android apps for free here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21408342
So what's all about? !!
A innovative UI currently in development which will have 20 apps and a simple, elegant, fully customizable GUI. Available screenshots in second post.
Also a ROM[no Kang], which aims to become better then CM&MIUI and improve android overall. If you are a developer or a user who wants to help just PM me or Mr.Highway

Apps closed beta signup:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHBnMjRaUEpRX3ZFUlZWWmxVOWxGUHc6MQ
What else can you expect from it?
All apps are planned to be the best on the market so you can expect a rich user experience with many features that will include competitor ones and original.
How many apps will the UI have?
About 20. Here is a list with most of them:
Code:
1)Dialer
2)SMS/MMS
3)Email
4)Calendar
5)People with IM and social
6)Calculator
7)Player
8)Gallery
9)Launcher
10)Browser
11)Notes,
12)Stock + Currency converter
13)Weather
14)Clock
15)News
16)File/Task manager
17)Settings
18)Lockscreen
19)Theme Engine - Desktop App
How is everything organized?
I'm leading a multinational team of 9 developers. As for the project it has 4 stages:
1)All apps with basic features in one app
2)Adding advanced features
3) Integration between all apps
4) Implementing UI
When will this be released?
Something like end of April or middle of May for beta if things go well. And final release 2-3 weeks later.
When can we test?
Some will have the chance to test early in private beta testing. All others will have to wait for public beta.
Will this be free?
Free with ads. Estimated prices in third post.
If there is anything you want to know PM or email me([email protected]).
Updates and pics/videos on second post.
Blog on third post.

Blog
So I've decided to keep the third post as a personal blog where I can share my thoughts about the project, your comments and what else come in my mind. So let's begin.
1)
In about a day my project got over 24 pages on Google. So many that I got bored counting . This looks really promising, never imagined this level of success. Also first page on XDA.
Managed to read a few and there are two things that were not quite right. One article said that I should change the name to metroid. I don't think so, that will mean M$ flame . Also another thing is the supposition that all team members are xda guys. Only one is(which wants no money or IR), the rest are paid devs. There is no chance that free time devs will finish this project in time. Hope I made clear some things.
Also this week meteo and new contacts will be finished. Next week IM with AIM,MSN,Yahoo,GTalk,Skype,Facebook and Jabber support will be finished. Tell me if you use others as well.
Edit: Thanks to the guy who emailed me to remind me of Facebook chat.
2)
So I thought more about the prices and there will be 2 options:
In app purchase for ads free with
Google - 2.50$
Paypal - 1.89$
Why is it cheaper with paypal?
Google fee is 30%(thievery) and it registers as payment and thus I have to pay taxes. Paypal fee is 0.33$+1% and it registers as donation. I will receive about the same amount in the end(a little less for G option)
So paypal is a better option for all of us, even if some of you hate PayPal. Hope the lower price will encourage you to use it.
Also there will be an update with pics and a video showing more of the UI most likely this weekend.
That's it for now. Stay tuned!!!
Awesome project!!! Keep it up!
Thank you!
Thanks for your efforts and hard work! This looks promising.
I will definitely be keeping my eye on this project.

Understanding the Basics of Monetisation

Hi Guys,
I am a developer who has posted three apps to the store, all got featured for a period of time, one in 5 countries.
Ive got all the tracking and reporting SDK's installed, localised to 10 countries and now I am looking to monetise.
I tried a couple of things outside of the app store and were a waste of time (Social media etc)
For Paid apps I was thinking
Paid Reviews through Gummicube
With a weekly burst through Tapjoy -
Tapjoy Questions:
1. For a 99c app what should one pay per CPI? 50c or 1.00?
2. Just run with Mobile and exclude PC
3. Split test a couple of ads for the same region (just like you do on Google Adwords)
4. Best format for Creative, Full Screen Banners or Marketplace ads?
Are there any other decent platforms for CPI for Paid apps? The only other one I can think of is Feature Points.
Now my free versions
Can someone in simple terms explain how this process works, yes I know I must have been living under a rock!
1. My two free versions are in the Utilities Category. Both have 3 IAP's each.
I have Revmob and Chartboost and Flurry SDK loaded up. I only get 1,000 installs per week.
So I have an ad budget of $200-500 per day.
So if I spend 200 per day, how many visitors should I expect and what is the best network or method, there is so many CPC, CPM, CPI.
I can see how the maths stacks up if I buy say 200 x $1 per install per day and then just reply on eCPM from Revmob to get my money back? Then hope to generate IAP for the Lifetime value of user? Is this how this Free game works these days.
I here of people getting $3-8 CPI through Revmob etc, is this really happening.
Happy to scale the $ but from experience with some other 'so called' sure bet marketing idea's like social, which returned $0.
Lots of questions but hopefully a good conversation.
Getting featured was easy in my opinion, monetisation is the more difficult aspect.
