Nexus 4 (w/ Ice Cream Sandwich) - more specs. <Drool /> - Epic 4G General

http://androidspin.com/2011/06/15/rumor-google-nexus-4g-exposed/
"According to their source the new Nexus phone will feature a 'monster-sized' 720p display, a next-gen dual-core 1.2 or 1.5GHz OMAP 4460 or Krait-based Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM, 4G LTE radio, dual-cameras 1MP front and 5MP rear with 1080p HD video capture, and best of all Android 4.0 Icecream Sandwich."
...
"It’s also been suggested that this device could just be a flagship for the initial delivery of Android 4.0 Icecream Sandwich rather than a regular Nexus branded product. One thing is for sure if these specs line up it’s sure to be the most epic devices mentioned this year."

Doesn't Google usually like to change mfg of their flagship phones? I never thought they would make the next one with Samsung, but I did read somewhere that LG would make sense...

I have a hard time believing rumors that are for something greater than 6 months away. Hope they are true and that its coming to sprint, but don't be making purchasing decisions based off of rumors this far out.

Has anyone even seen ICS? And has it been conformed to be 4.0?

Im 100% sure it's 1.5 Dual core.... It's all over the Evo 3d forums and all over the internet.

What makes sense to me is made by LG and TI as cpu...they are the only ones left out so far...LG has made TI phones like optimus 3d
Though I was hoping for an LG and Nividia Tegra 3 phone for nexus :/

motorola hasn't made one yet.... the droid was kind of a big deal when it hit verizon

I'm liking this better than the 3D for sure if it does come with a 4" screen. I will have my Shift for two more years though... Maybe one if I like what's released next summer, though I will only be a 9 year vet of Sprint next summer so I would still have to pay more than I want. I don't see myself ever owning a device with a screen larger than 4" if I can help it.
Looks good, but no kb = not for me.
Keyboard doesn't really matter to me, the Shift was more about size. I think I could deal with a 4" screen

+1 too big a step unfortunantley. In the era of 2011 you can't have single core proccesors anymore lol. Only thing I could think to make up for it is if it was the new snapdragon Krait proccessors which are appearently 75% more battery effecient
Honestly, I could do with a bit less processing power if it got me a better battery life. To me, battery life is the biggest downfall of Android phones. I just got a 1900mAh battery (slim, no cover needed), we'll see if it makes much difference...fingers crossed.

I wouldn't call a 1.2gHz phone crap. It won't be as fast as a dual core, like the 3D, but it will be faster than the shift, and have a larger, higher resolution display, plus Sense 3.0 from the start (I'm assuming this last part, since the resolution is 960x580, or whatever the 3D is). Plus, more ram, and possibly more rom than the shift.
It's nice to see "mid-range" phones with some decent specs, and not really far off from the halo phones. Depending on when I make my next phone purchase, I may get the Galaxy S2. I would really like my next phone to have a Super AMOLED screen.

I think that's just a software limitation and it could be fixed by modifying the kernel settings.
For example, when I had my HD2 with stock Windows Mobile 6.5, the maximum recording resolution I managed to get was ~ 640x480 .
with hacked Android 2.3 installed (Ported from the Desire) it jumped to 800x600!.

Disadvantages of overclocking and why you shouldn't

1. You could literally burn out your processor making your phone unusable at all (think of RROD for phones)
2. If it crashes while writing sd or nand you could loose data such as apps, texts from your boss, videos of your baby's first steps, pictures of your girlfriend and contacts of coworkers
3. Your phone could become less tolerant of workload and have random reboots even on stock RFS at 1ghz
4. A lot more such as battery overheating and possible exploding
5. IT IS A PHONE WITH NO FANS!
NEVER GO ABOVE 1.3 GHZ OR AT BEST STAY ON 1.0 GHZ (OR 1.2) LIKE SAMSUNG PUTS YOU ON DEFAULT (FOR A REASON)...
Please share your opinion of overclocking but don't be mean to others. There arrested some benefits but I say stay under 1.3

I think it all depends on your surroundings, in a hot car I underclock and it still gets hot, outside or in a cold room I push it to 1.4ghz and it only gets warm. Also overclocking on the charger is probably a bad idea too. Just my 2 cents

Absolutely agree Marcusant. The only people I see random rebooting after release are OC'ing. My phone is superfast at 1000 Mhz and Legendary plus it barely does 1200 anyway so why blow it up?

exactly. the infuse uses same chipset but clocked at 1.2ghz factory.
Other than for bragging rights, overclocking a phone(especially on the epic) is almost pointless.
Its not like on a PC where you can overclock a CPU 50-100% of its original clocks to yield performance. A .3ghz overclock really get you nothing in the real world.
A year ago overclocking was marginal at best because no apps were able to utilize our phones processor but now with dual cores all around us it will be the only way we can keep up. Don't believe me? Try playing shadowgun at 1.0ghz

No. ROMs are device-specific. Unless you were trying to say something else?
That's like a slap in the face the design gets it but not the og evo.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
All slapping aside, the significance of this for OG Evo users has more to do with custom ROM development: an official build for the Evo 3D could provide a much easier way to make an *unofficial* ICS Sense ROM - I'm assuming the 3D is more similar to the OG than the "primo" (or whatever gave us the base for the PrimOG effort)..

From a specification perspective, the Primo is much closer than the 3D to the OG, besides already being the correct resolution. That's why it's being used for the porting effort.

Primog? If that's what you meant, then yes the dev has just been busy with life. If you're talking about this thread, then no port is going on here. Plus sense 3.6 is fatter than sense 4.0, as HTC's objective was to make 4.0 light and not bloated like previous versions of sense
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Well said, bennyboy. No port here. The only ICS Sense port I know of is PrimOG, and it has a much better shot at success than a port from a dual-core, different resolution, higher RAM device.
