can anyone help...write an idea?
A couple of days ago, I paired mine just fine with an Android tablet and transferred a few pictures. Did nothing special.
Are you able to send via BT between those other two phones?
Are you running a custom rom or some task killer or battery optimizer?
I recently did a file transfer to droid x.
1. Paired the devices together
2. Using the builtin file browser, browse to the folder where the files are located
3. Hit the menu button and select the share option
4. from the prompted option, select bluetooth
5. Select the file(s) then pick the device from the list
i tried to send photo from Gallery, Root explorer and AndExplorer but no one is capable to send photo via bluetooth to another phone
PS:i am glad that i have WifiExplorer so in one Wifi network i run WifiExplorer and second phone can connect via Browser to my SD....but BT is better

I am running Litening ROM 1.4....but even on official XWKE2 that I had from shop i cannot send a file to Dell Streak for example. i dont have battery optimiser, having Advanced Task Manager
Well, maybe there's a problem with your ROM? As we can see in your signature you have an, well, extremely modded phone (different ROM, overclocked, other Kernel, Rooted etc.).
From my personal poin of view at first I would suggest to flash your phone back to the correct Standard Sammy ROM and to do a Factory Reset after that. and then try again. With this kind of extreme customizing you'll never know what you get.
I have the same problem. Running stock rom KE7 and when try to send a file to HD2 with Android, nothing happened. I can send files to my PC and receiving from HD2, just cannot send any. Tried from Galery and from Astro file manager.
Bluetooth only supports ad2p profiles for headsets, music, and sharing of contacts and pictures. all other things You cannot send to a different type of phone (brand/type/...) with android.
There are apps that "embed" this function in android like Bluetooth File Transfer, hope that helps you

I tried to send a file to a htc desire s few weeks ago...same symptom happens..paired but when sending it just says pending.. than bluetooth transfer fails. Than i found out on the desire s you have to unchek ftp file or something like that( i cant really remember) in the bluetooth settings. After that bluetooth transfer was sucessfull..
Just chek your desire hd settings..maybe there lies your problem.

So I got this to load with no errors however when you go to turn on BT using the app I get the following error:
Can't start the threadpool for this bluetooth service...Invalid UUID specified
Any ideas I've been trying to get BT data transfer to work on a 2.1 Rom forever; thanks!
It has something to do with needing root permissions. I'm not sure why superuser is not picking it up.

you can transfer data and run BT File Transfer? I can use it as an audio but one other thing that BT allows is for devices to pass data to one another like a phone to a puter or a phone to phone or even a phone to a nav in the case of contacts and phones numbers. This doesn't work today with hero 1.5 or 1.6 but was suppose to be available in 2.1 but none of the leaked custom roms quite do this yet and it's primarily because the dev's don't use it so they haven't spun the cycles...and for me I have no real skills yet in hacking this stuff nor the bandwidth to sit down and figure it out. Hoping I will in the coming weeks but by then the official release probably be here as I won't get bandwidth until April-May with school in work.
I tested it out with a macbook and had no problems transferring a file on Damage Control v1.0. I used the stock BT transfer app built in, not BT File Transfer in the marketplace.

hmmm I'll retry I thought I did it with DamageControl but could've missed it. I'm trying specifically to pass contacts from my phone to my car and BT Files Transfer has the send contacts function but it didn't like the app when I loaded it to Damage Control if memory serves me. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

I have been able to transfer files on every 2.1 rom I have tried (without a third party app). Just click "share" in music, pics, and while in contacts click menu>send contact.

I must be having problems between keyboard and chair then lol Do you mind indulging me are you inside the actual record or the list and it's highlighted? If so sounds like I have to send one contact at a time and not a batch transfer which is kind of sucky.
which 2.1 ROMs have you been playing with and do any of them have/require to turn on FTP service?
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks bro, yeah it only works one contact at a time and will only carry over a complete vcf not just the name and phone number so I'll see what's the full Sprint build is available if I can do it then with just the name and numbers otherwise I'll use my laptop sync my local outlook change the names and numbers by removing the other stuff in the vcf and see if it works then.
I got a tattoo from a friend, and the display is fscked up (i can read only the last line on the display). So, he will get a new one, but he never used google for contact sync. Strangely there are no contacts at all on the sim card.
My task is now to get the contacts from the phone. I tried HTC sync for hours, which is not working at all (phone is not recognized) and adb. With adb i can connect to the phone, but because it's not rooted i can't copy the contacts database ...
Any other smart ideas? A super secret command to copy the contacts to sdcard?
HELP!

Have you tried to go up with the navigation keys, after you connect the usb cable? Maybe it could be in mass storage mode and you have to change it to HAC sync.
Or does it have a 2.2 ROM?

hmm, i guess it's 1.6, but i'm not really sure ...
since i cant read whats on the screen, it's a little bit tricky to select the sync mode. When i connect it to the PC it will show a popup, but it seems there are only 2 options, <unreadable> and cancel. If i select the <unreadable> option it will bring me to settings.
I personally have a HTC Desire with 2.2 Rom, and it looks totaly different, so i have no idea where the USB settings are ... could you please guide me through this? Keep in mind that i cant use the touch screen or read the upper half of the screen
thanks!
The 1.6 stock has 3 choices... The first one is HTC sync.
Its not easy to go to the usb settings with no screen, because it is in programs and can be anywere...

use a program like androidscreencast(I think Android Manager has this function too), which let you see device's screen and control it from pc with mouse and keyboard.
thanks, androidscreencast saved my day. It's dead slow, you can't use the mouse to control the phone (needs root) but i could finally sync the phone.
Nice program, thanks again!
Heyy I have had the xperia arc since o2 release on the 19th April.
1 question where is the file manager and personal profiles etc.
Also what app is used to take screenshots as looking at android market all the apps there say the phone has to be rooted.
Thanks in advance,
Jinx13
There are many file manager & personal profile apps in Market
I use Astro file manager to manage my files
Root is available for ARC, so you can root your device... Without rooting you can use MyPhoneExplorer to take shots (need to be installed on device + on PC)
Thanks for the tips downloaded that file manager new to android
Jinx13
android Is awesome.. but it might take you a bit to get used to it.. depending what platform you've come from...

you can use dropbox to make it like ftp and upload files from your computer that you can download anytime with your phone
try it

1 other thing what are you using to root the arc? I seen a thread HERE Is that what your all using?
About root, i think you should wait a little more for custom stable roms.
Im looking into it since im new to android too
Depends what you want to root for, and if your phone is unbranded and sim unlocked?
If it is.. then you can unlock the bootloader and flash a rooted kernel. here..
then root here..
I rooted mine to delete some stuff and install screen shot apps, and reboot widget!.. awaiting kernel to allow overclocking..
voice dialer
Where can I find it? According to the help files it should be in the application list but it's not there... in gsmarena's test it says there's 'a dedicated homescreen widget' but I couldnt find anything as such in the widget list.
I need it and I don't like the idea of browsing through the market for finding applications for each missing feature (yes, I'm a beginner in Android )
Dev
Just copied this from the sys.. you can try installing it.. make sure you check "unknown sources" in the settings/ application menu.

No luck, it says its installed, but when I try to launch it 'Activity not found - android.com.voicedialer'. Same if I try to use the apk in /system/app. Is it there in your applications list?
actually..no, it's not.. and doesn't seen to be accessible grin within the dialer either.. have you tried plugging the headset in and clicking the button on there. long press I think? haven't got mine with me so can't test it right now.

Using my BT headset I could use the voice dialer (rather voice command, because its like 'call xxnamexx', 'open calendar') Now I'd like to assign custom voice tags to contacts because it will never recognize hungarian names
Anyone else having problems with Skype?
I have a wifi Xoom with 3.2 stock software and recently installed Skype. When I first start a call I see my video but when they answer I hear nothing and the video disappears.

I've used skype a few times on my tablet, I've never had a problem with the video, the video seems to be the only thing that works pretty flawlessly for me. In all honestly I think the app its self has the problems and its not the xoom/software on the xoom.
The issues i've had mostly deal with my Bluetooth headset and skype. Sometimes it will send ringing to the headset, then it'll disconnect from the headset and put the actual call through the speakers, sometimes It wont even go that far. Once it actually let me complete a call with the headset but that only happened once. The other issue I had was Skype didn't want to let me accept a call from one of my friends. I could send calls but not accept. So I think the app its self is just borked.
Hello
Skype works fine till you update it from the market. This update seems to mess it up for alot of people myself included. You need to uninstall it and find a previous version and side load that.

Hello all,
Seen a few discussions after a quick google with skype, as I've been having problems with skype too! Video just drops as soon as I start a conversation. I've put it down to the app, as the same thing happened on my HTC Sensation!
Hopefully it'll resolve with an update! Fingers crossed!
It's the latest update that breaks it. Try using the one I've attached to this post.
Had to attach it as ZIP since the APK is over 8MB. Just unzip and install the APK.

After you've downloaded it, use a file manager (like file expert) to navigate to download in sdcard (your internal storage) and inside of the download folder, find the file you want to install, and then click on it. You should be given a choice to install apk or run package installer, choose whatever will install and you're go to go.
And don't forget to ignore updates until a new one comes along.
I hope everyone that's had issues has left a negative review on the market....
Thanks for this, I had the same issue. Installed the APK above. It gave me an error saying I needed to reinstall, but I let it uninstall itself, then went back in to EZ installer and installed it again and it was fine :S
If it has a keylogger I will hunt you down etc etc ...
Wonderful I will try installing this work around. Thanks guys, bought the xoom for xmas present for my wife to skype her brother and family in South Africa and video calls with Skype app would not work. Xoom itself is great quality bit of kit.

I sent the vcf file to my Note 3 via Bluetooth and the file wasn't anywhere.
