[Q] hd2 cannot connect to any 3g network - HD2 General

Hey guys, long time lurker here
i'm currently having a serious problem with my unlocked hd2
i'm unable to connect to any 3g network, i have tried changing simcard, changing radio, flash back to wm,no result
it say "unable to connect to this network, please try again later"
however, yesterday i played with the phone diagnostic (*#*#4636#*#*) and change network mode to 3g only, still same, unable to connect, then i try to change to euro band by pressing windows key, select radio band.
after i leave it for 5 minutes, i noticed it get "G" internet connection with no signal
i opened browser then i can browse the net, run speedtest and get ~400 kbps which is my 3g speed, but i cannot receive any sms, and voice call.
my conclusion is that my phone can connect to 3g network but i dunno what wrong with it

You do realise that you need to change the settings for each network provider - Data, Voicemail and SMS.
Some telecoms website help sections will send you the settings via SMS or you can search via the web.

MediaNet Issues when in UMTS?

I am using an 8525, and also in a UMTS area (Approx. 3miles from the tower). I cannot, no matter what I've tried, and I've tried practically everything, connect to MediaNet (device.home). I've ensured that my primary connection was MediaNet, and all of the server configuration was correct. I was on the phone with cingular for over an hour, changed from wap.cingular.com to isp.cingular.com and back again. Changed proxy servers, checked Socks settings, etc...
When I try to connect to MediaNet, I get a Connection Disconnected error Dialing wap.cingular.com:80, or isp.cingular.com:80. It's like it's on the edge of connecting, but, drops off. I can sometimes connect to a www.google.com or other website, but, I still get the "Disconnect" message. If I hit dismiss a few times, it finally will get the page.
No problems under the "My ISP" setting.
Cingular recommended calling HTC to see if there was a way to force a GPRS connection, when in a UMTS area. Not sure if this will work, but, it is the only thing we could come up with. Under a PDA connect plan.
Any help is appreciated.

could be several things, first you will not be able to connect to MEdia net under My Isp, you will need to change that to MEdia net in the connections. 2nd, make sure you have one of the new sims, they are primarily white with a flaming 3G logo on it. And if after all of that you are still having an issue then go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283797 and unzip the file, move the cab file to your phone and install it, this will allow you to fix your phone between automitic, GSM (edge), or WCDMA (high speed network)
speaking of which, why are you on an over priced pda connect plan? I have have always used the regular media net plan's? they are cheaper and work just as well

Block net access via 3G network, D810 - WM5

hey all,
Quick question, is it possible to block the D810 from using Optus 3G network to connect to the net?
I only want to use Wifi due to the charges that optus dish out when using their network.
Any ideas?
Thanks heaps
Hello,
I had the same problem with the 3G because when I open a internet explorer, it connects automatically to the 3G network.
The solution is on the forum : take a program named Bandswitch that allows you to turn off 3G, HSDPA, GPRS etc. That will save you some money and autonomy for your Trinity
hey,
thanks for the reply.
Does the program also stop connection to send MMS though?
thanks
ok cancel the question.
I actually called Optus (and the guy was helpful!!! OMG!!) all sorted.
Just deleted the Optus setting in the ISP and that is all, still can send MMS's but no net access.
thanks.
For anyone else interested, the answer to the earlier post is that Bandswitch can be set to allow/disallow each of the connections individually, so you can block the Mobile Internet APN, but still allow MMS and/or WAP depending on how things are configured by your Telco.

There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network

Once I tried to connect the free wifi on Atlanta airport. Since then my ATT 8525 randomly displays this message "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network.
Just FYI, I do not ATT internet subscription.
I can receive text messages and calls as usual but today when I tried to sync my phone with my laptop, it gave errors like make Outlook express as your default mail server.
I cannot sync my phone to my laptop which was possible until I started getting the GPRS messages.
Please help me.
Check your selected network and see by changing it to correct network settings. I am not sure if it is going to resolve your problem or not.
I'm having the same problem.
I do not have a GPRS service.
I do not need it because i use WIFI.
Can i make wifi my only data connection with the HD2?
thnx
go to settings>connections>connections
the touch manage connections and delete the default tmobile gprs setting by touching it and holding til delete come up.
Just fyi,
I was facing this problem, and iiodii's solution worked fine, or simply :
Go to settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks >
Check both options to 'My Work Network' or any network other than your Mobile provider connection.
An advise "Just for users who will reach this topic" (I did through Google )
This didn't work. I'm having the same problem: GPRS not working when I try to send/receive MMS, and it all started after I started using wifi. Should I flash the radio?
I have Hermes 200- two years ago I had the same problem-this is what I did: went to the WIKI and downloaded "network settings" for my phone (cab) and loaded directly to my phone, soft reseted and that was it. Savy!?!!
sorry to hear that.good luck to u .
Go to phone and then menu and then options and go to BAND, don't choose auto but chose GSM OR CDMA both of them. Hope it will help all of you.

The WIFI without the GPRS (3g)

Hello,
I need some help about my htc hd.
I want to ensure that, then i connected to internet via WIFI, my GPRS (3g) is not connected.
How can i disable the 3g GPRS connection, and enable WIFI only
Thanks a lot!!!
No Data will allow you to stop data connection.
so now if i closed my Orange network, the WIFI should work?
It is still doesnt work, do you have any idea how to configure it?

Course it will there seperate
All you do is block Orange connection when you want and unblock when needed
This program doesn't help me , because even i close it the GPRS still work.
But than i take the SIM from the phone, or turn off the phone feature, the internet connection is unavailable.
I think that all problem that was in some topics about the WIFI speed , is because of they used the GPRS internet and not the WIFI.
So , there some more complexive problem with internet WIFI in HTC HD.
Just try to take out the SIM and than surf in internet with WIFI? There is no way!!!!!
the connection icons on the top of the screen clearly show which data connection is active
the manual describe the meaning of all the top screen icons
settings->connections->connections->advanced-select network
pick my home network or whatever the non isp connection is named on your phone
and all data connections when there is no wifi or activesync connections to get free network from will fail with an error == you will never get a grps connection again
before you turn it back to my isp or what it's named on your device

Mobile Network : Connection Failed. Always have to amend APN Settings

hi guys
do any of you have issues with your data connection stating "CONNECTION FAILED" at times? Especially when you get off an elevator or off a place with no signal, the phone does not reconnect to the mobile network.
I will be able to send SMS and make calls but no data connection.
I would have to go to the APN settings and amend them to get them reconnected.
I tried various radios and i am using RCmixHD 6.1.0.1
Same problem happen to me.
