nexus problems vs mt4g

So I'm debating trading in my mt4g for the nexus. I picked it up a couple weeks ago and i'm not 100% sure I'm sold on it.
I got one with a washed out screen. so thats a negative. also the battery life sucks. I found I dont do as much web surfing as I thought I might, so 4g is becoming a little more moot...
So I know the positives about the nexus. (screen, 2.3, fast updates and Dev support)
I'm wondering about the negatives. There has to be some. Right? hows battery life? does the phone feel cheap/ or creek?
Please let me know and be honest I would like to be sure if i'm to trade it in. Thank you.

I went to play w/ the MT4G for the first time about a week after I got my Nexus S and i must say that its looks like a piece of trash compared to my MT4G. Glad I waited for it. Just my Amoled screen is enough to make me look down on that mytouch. I love HTC but....

MT4G looks ugly, I mean very ugly imho. Nexus s is way better looking. If I can get flexibilty and awesomeness of android in a very nice looking phone, I'm in. MT4G is ugly especially that earpice.

So would anyone care to name off some of the problems that have been reported with the NS? I might not care about some features the NS might have vs the mt4g. I'm interested in hardware and physical problems like barry or screen issues. Things like that...

I have nexus s and my wife has the mt4g. It's all on what u prefer. I had the nexus one and want to continue with nexus. The mt4g isn't bad though.

I have used both for a good week, both have pretty bad battery life, I web browse and listen to music, go on YouTube make phone calls and text all over 3g and with wifi, I think the Nexus S has better battery life, besides the wifi tether issue ( there is usually an error after you enable it, still worms but not very responsively). I am sold more on the Nexus just cause I love the cameras, both cameras are really nice. HTC boasts about 10 MP and 8 MP, but I would rather have a 5 MP Samsung camera than a 12 MP HTC camera. In the end, we all know HYC will abandon it for a good couple of months until the next update is announced, then they will give it Gingerbread( my assumption by the way). While the Nexus S is great, don't give up your device just to get it... not worth the trouble, especially since both devices will be outdated in a few weeks. Wait for a better device before going through the trouble. If you really want the latest Google Android OS, go for the Nexus, and stick with it until the next big Google device in the future.

The nexus is missing some of the more popular video coddecs and there are issues with the keyboard when you're typing fast, but awesome phone is awesome and I'd rather have it than mt4g.

Honestly, the Nexus S feels like a big rushed project. Lack of basics like SD, notification LED, and HSPA+ just make you scratch your head. Sure, it's a sexy device, and the curved glass and SAMOLED are almost enough to make you ignore these flaws, but it isn't worth it to me. In my opinion, the Nexus S is in the same "generation" as the MT4G, and both will be outdated shortly. I recommend keeping the cheaper of the two and just getting a new device when the next generation of Android devices arrives this spring.

Nexus S is awesome!

Kinda pointless post but was bored at work so thought I'd share my views for anyone else who's on the fence about getting it:
I was waiting for CES announcements to see what was coming out in the future but changed my mind and decided to jump in and get a Nexus S. I was coming from an old WinMo phone that I've had for ages (having been a poor student), which probably isn't the best base to be commenting on this but I'm used to android as I've been deving on my housemates HTC Desire HD.
I'm so glad I did, I won't lie and say the phone is perfect as no phone is. It is, however, a true pleasure to use and looks gorgeous (especially compared to WinMo).
I mostly just wanted to put a nice positive post on the forums because there's allot of people moaning about one thing or another to-do with the phone and as with anything people only tend to post when they have a problem or issue. Especially regarding the specs being current gen and not next gen; and therefore a lack of longevity. It's easy to forget that being a "Google" phone means that regardless of hardware it will be around for a while, and will still be enjoyable and exciting to use during that time thanks to the ongoing updates.
The device feels solid and premium, even the plastic backing, and I prefer it in the hand and visually to my house mates Desire HD (which is also a great phone). Battery life is better than most equivalent devices. Sound is crisp and clear. Reception on the same network has been better that the HD. Everything has worked perfectly. The screen is beautiful, especially if you like darker backgrounds.
My only disappointment is the lack of gorilla-glass, but that's not a biggy for me.
The phone wasn't meant to be bleeding edge. It was meant to work, and work well. It does, and to quote Mr. D's "I'm loving it".
Thumbs up Google and Samsung.

Even though people are going crazy over the dual-core phone announcements at CES, but none of those phones won't be available in months and they still will launch with Froyo.
The Nexus S still uses the most powerful harware available at the moment but the feature that it's really marketed for is the fact that it will be running vanilla Anroid and will get update priority.
I have this phone and I can easily say it's one of the best android phone the market. Here in the UK there is no 4G so all this no HSPA+ stuff doesnt really affect me.

I understand and agree with wanting the Nexus S for the timely and clean updates, but I've always called people out when they play the "I don't need it" card when specs are compared. There are many things on phones we don't "need," but that doesn't abate people's disappointments. Granted, it goes both ways; people will find anything to complain about (like if it had 720p recording, some would say it should have 1080).
Everyone is different, everyone has opinions, and everyone can voice them at an open forum.

I love the clean black look of the Nexus S. No emblems, no harware, and no icons.

Amen. The SAMSUNG on my i9000 and the T-Mobile & Samsung on the Vibrant are just butt ugly compared next to the totally unmarked NS.
Still, that ugly Verizon logo on the new Samsung LTE phone won't keep me from buying it!

Agreed! My first 'real' smartphone too (my Nokia E63 could be classed as a smartphone, albeit not a very good one, suited me at the time though) and I absolutely love it! I have finally jumped on the Android wagon (lack of money prevented me before ) and I am not looking back!

Same with Australia. We have WiMAX but only in Perth and a couple of other places (not in my area though) but it doesn't support phones. So everything is perfect for me! Sure there are other features that would have been nice to have, but I would never had really used them, so overall it doesn't detract from the experience.

Seriously, I love this thing.

I think I'm one of the few when I say that I like the build. It looks very good, all black. Plastic makes it lighter, and it's firmer. Only con is that plastic is slippery, and of course fingerprints. The Contour Display, although subtile, makes it very appealing, as does the chin on the back.
Especially with Super AMOLED and it's deep blacks, the phone is awesome. I really like the notification bar fading into the phone itself, and that the buttons are not visible when the phone is turned off. We will get the Nexus S with Super Clear LCD here, which will be nice for lighter interfaces and for browsing the web, but I am a little bit jealous on the Americans and the Britons. With Super AMOLED a dark background looks much better, and in combination with the black finish of the phone, it's beautiful.

The Nexus S is my 4th android phone & I love it. I started with a T-Mobile Pulse (I really liked that phone, coming from a Nokia n97!), then the HTC Hero, HTC Desire & finally the Nexus S.
I thought the screen was good on my Desire (when I'm not outside lol), but the 4 inch NS screen is just amazing. I had to get used to a few things though...
1) No notification light (noled app is a good solution, but obviously uses a little bit of battery as the screen is on).
2) lack of trackball (this is just personal as I used the trackball a lot for moving the curser when typing).
3) the phone is really light & a bit slippery (i love the handsets design, but I'll get a case once I find one I like).
4) no sense ui (not for the Widgets, I jus prefer the dialler, gallery & SMS apps over the stock android ones).
Overall, the points I mentioned have not stopped me loving this phone. They are just things I became accustomed to from my previous android phones. I also miss the excellent Facebook integration from sense ui (birthdays in my calendar for example).
Having said all that, I still wouldn't swap my Nexus S for any other phone on the market today. I'm a big fan of complete customisation & I haven't even mentioned the ease of getting full root (anyone tried to get 'S-OFF' on a Desire lol) or the fact I have gingerbread out of the box! Finally, any phone with a screen bigger than 4 inches is just too uncomfortable for me.

I came to the Nexus S from the Evo, and I have to say that I like it more in almost every way. I do, however, have one legitimate complaint, and that is that the wifi connections are very weak.

I just switched over to the NS4G from the Epic 4G today and after playing with this for a solid 8hrs now.
NO REGRETS.. It's fast right out of the box.. I almost didn't even bother rooting it I was so impressed.. Then I did root, flashed mikeyinid's v.5 ROM and WOW. It just got faster...
Amazing phone.. I will never.. Ever.. Go back to a non-Google phone again.. Yeah, it's plastic on the back, but it feels solid.. Not wobbly and cheap like my Epic felt. Swore Tyco made that thing.

I love my Nexus S too, its my first Droid phone, although my girlfriend had the mytouch. I learned how awesome droids are from rooting and installing a custom ROM on. I had jailbroken iPhones and iPod for my self and friends in the past but the freedom of the Droid was what made me want one. I was going to get the mytouch 4g but after I saw the nexus s at best buy, I knew I had to get it, the screen is by far the best looking, and its just sexy. I have had for two months and I love it. James Bond Sabi Dee UV kernal is so smooth, running cm7.

I may as well plugin my thoughts too. I just passed down my Nexus One to my girlfriend and got the Nexus S. I'm quite happy with it!
Things I like about it versus the N1...
- 4" is my new favorite size
- The haptic feedback feels better
- Light weight
- SCLCD makes texts easier on the eyes
- It feels faster overall... smooth scrolling in stock launcher!
- Camera mic picks up much better audio when recording
- Battery feels like it lasts longer after heavy use!
Things I don't like about it versus the N1...
- It's plastic and I'm very hesitant when putting it in my pocket - need to find a case soon
- Display colors don't seem as vibrant, but definitely clear and great color reproduction... just not excellent (again, I'm using the SCLCD version not AMOLED)
Summary: No regrets switching my N1 for NS! The size, speed and battery life made me one very happy owner!

How would you rate the battery on the Nexus S compared to the Desire?

Ahh while we are praising our NS's, I want to say something about how I felt when I first got my phone. Ordered it beginning of April from negri-electronics and was a bit skeptical at first, but after being brainwashed by the ads online and playing with the NS that was on display at Best Buy, I couldn't wait any further.
The day came and I had been creeping on the tracking status every 2 minutes to check the location of the package. I had gotten it expedited so I'd get it as fast as possible, yet the shipping day felt like the longest day ever when I was sitting and waiting outside my house with 3 cups of coffee, my laptop, and season 6 of The Office. After waiting for about 283828833 hours (in reality 3 hours) my package came! Felt like christmas when I opened that box, popped in my sim, and watched that sexy Nexus Bootscreen in awe much like my first time last year.
My cellphone journey was weird.
I started out with a small nokia phone that lasted me quite a long time. Then I 2 christmases ago I got a blackberry. My mother had picked up the N1 at that time and I loved it so much I traded her my blackberry (after countless times of persauding the blackberry was faster and such.. ) From then on my love for the Google Phone spread like wildfire.
And now I'm with SNS. Not Samsung Nexus S, my Sexy Nexus S.

This would fall under "General" or "Q&A" but we all know that no one clicks on those tabs anymore, in addition this has a little to do with development. Seeing that the mt3gs is ancient in smartphone years and that our major developers have moved on, I figured we could start a comparison thread. Before I start I would like to thank all the teams that worked hard for all of us to better enjoy the "slide"; Team Cyanogen, Arrayray, CR, CM, Guitarist, Highly Medicated so on and so on. (if I missed anyone its not personal your work is also appreciated.) With that being said its time to discuss what's next..
I myself am almost due for an upgrade and would like the communities opinion on where to go next. Right now I have two options MyTouch 4G Slide versus HTC Sensation. So far the advantage of mt4gs is the awesome camera software and hardware, but lacks in the screen section which is not qHD. I'm open to discussion and opinions, also if there is any other phone you'd like to mention please do so.
It would be nice to get a mt4gs since a lot of our devs went that route and I'd be able to keep following them but I seen some nice development in the Sensation community as well. Any opinions?

I have seen them both and I have to say the sensation is one of the best phones I have ever seen. It has a beautiful design and a really clear camera with 1080p HD camera. If you ask me, id go with the sensation. But that's only my opinion, in the end its all down to personal perspective. Whether you like a slide out keyboard or you like having a large screen. It all depends what you like.

Agreed, on both posts, I do have a long time before I can upgrade (got this as a gift) but i figure I will jus pay cash for one from like amazon.com or something! and The Sensation is Absolutely hands down the best Android Phone to date! HOWEVER, while I am still a slide user, i will develop for it proudly!

Just got a 4g slide today and am liking it the way it is so far. I HATED sense on my 3g slide but Sense 3.0 is much better IMO. Camera is awesome as well. I need the hard keyboard so my choice was easy.

Thank you guys for your opinions and input. I went and demo'd both phones today and I found something interesting.. the HTC Sensation is shipped with 2.3.3 while the mytouch 4G slide ships with 2.3.4. When I checked for an update on the sensation nothing showed up. Im sure they'll have the update soon

Thx for the mention, but i feel like all i did was get people's toes wet concerning gingerbread with sense. Really wish i had time to do more for everyone. Thankfully team medicated worked hard to bring a working gingerbread rom for us.
As far as a new phone, its almost scary to buy a new phone knowing something better will be out in 6 months or so and we're stuck with that phone for another 18 months. Personally, i've looked so many times at other phones that i think the store reps know my face by now lol. I just cant bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars to get with the hottest handset. Its tough, but waiting till im due for a full discount on a new handset. Im really intreaged to see what google's next handset is going to be. It should be out by mid 2012. I just hope its better than the nexus s. Lets face it, nexus one blew us away, but the nexus s was a bit of a let down. A beautiful handset, i just expect a google phone to be the best out there.

Personally, at the start, i really hated the Slide and was getting disappointed that i even bought it. It's only thanks to developers here that had the SalsaSlide made possible that i've actually started enjoying using it.
As for a new phone, i don't run after technology, i've learned that it's a losing race and if my phone keeps working, then i see no reason of upgrading it just for saying i have the latest. What can i say, i'm not an apple fanatic that will rush to spend hundreds just to get the exact same phone in white
Anyway, if i'll be fully honest with you guys, once they get Android on the Fuze as native OS. I'd probably be switching to it, so instead of upgrading i'd be downgrading

Guitarist you deserve to be credited, in my opinion you introduced gingersense to the slide which gave devs the jumpstart to want to incorporate sense back into roms. Thanx again. Undoubtedly there will always be another smarter phone that's just how it goes. I also understand Sefy also, it is not only money draining to keep up with the latest handset but it is a bit cliche for that matter. (my secondary is still an iPhone 3gs, never upgrading my Apple handset)

I've been using a G2x since June. I do miss the slide's community though. Not that it should really affect what phone you get.
I decided that now that I have a phone with not just one, but two 1ghz cores I can rest, haha. I hate looking at the G2x forums though, at least general anyways. It's full of trolls and rudeness, lol.
I kind of wish I had stuck it out a little longer and got the mt4gs and feel like I upgraded rather than just went to a new phone completely.
It IS fast though. I got lucky enough to not get one of the terrible ones.

Wow I felt like this a while ago and I am torn about getting a new phone when there are a lot of phones out there and its hard to choose what to get next. Mt4gs looks like a great phone and might jump ship to it.

The developing community for the Slide slowed down a long time ago. I stopped really even checking back, haven't logged in for ages. I'm due for an upgrade on September 16th, and I'm DEFINITELY going for the HTC Sensation. The screen is bigger, super high resolution, 1080p video shooting, and better battery life. I liked having a physical keyboard with my Slide, but it is cumbersome as it makes the phone significantly thicker and heavier. On an MDPI device I would go for the hard keyboard, but on HDPI, ESPECIALLY qHD 4.3" screens, I have no problem typing on the screen's keyboard. It's worth the thinner and lighter phone. Plus, on the Sensation, almost the entire front of the phone is screen space. The mts4g seems to have a thick frame around the screen, especially on the top of it, which I don't like. Yeah, sure, the camera features of the mts4g are certainly attractive, but at least for me, since my Slide camera has been broken ever since I got the phone and I was never that big of a camera user to begin with, the Sensation is a MUCH better bet. Both phones are the same price.

I had the mt3gs since It's release, after much thought and consideration, I decided that like this forum it was dead, so I upgraded with the myTouch 4G Slide. I love it, the keyboard, the screen, the look and feel. It's just like I ran my mt3gs through an update machine and the MT4GS was the result. Although it doesn't have the giant 4.3 inch touch screen and while it is not a not a super light phone, I have had a great experience so far.
The camera, let's start there, fast, clear, macro settings better than any phone I've seen so far, don't believe me, my Google+ profile has a pic of a mosquito I took with no zoom. (Link on profile) the sweep shot, the HDR multi shot that layers different white balance shots up to get great definition and color in bright light, (backlit pics as well). The action shot and shutter (as long as the camera app is already open) is just as fast as they claim, but if not held very still can be just slightly blurred, but better still than most mid grade digital cameras on the market. The only thing keeping this camera from being an actual replacement it the lack of an optical zoom. Oh and night shots....they are pretty nice as well.
The screen, 3.7" inches, Super LCD, is crisp and clear, with resolution that has honestly impressed me. The best part? You have a screen that's big enough to enjoy watching videos on and you don't feel like your gonna break your thumbs trying to reach the screen's extremities. Although I do wish it was just a little larger when gaming.
The processor, a 1.2GHz Dual Core, Snapdragon, is a beautiful change from the 600mhz of the mt3gs, finally games and apps that none of us could enjoy like Gun Bros, Need for Speed, Dungeon Defenders, and Google Earth are smooth and flowing. Even Quadrant standard's video benchmarks are now enjoyable to watch.
The keyboard, which is the reason anyone wants the phone is quite different from it's predecessor's or any others I've seen or used. The buttons are almost flat and press very easily, almost too easily at first but after about a week of using it, it's almost a pleasure to use, just be careful of the back button when typing the letter 'M', I have lost several Facebook posts, even part of this post so far.
Sense 3.0 is beautiful but it and it's components eat up 3GB of the MT4GS 4GB of on-board storage and around 40% of its 768MB of RAM. And T-Mobile's removal of the 7 screen option and lockscreen shortcuts make it slightly frustrating.
Kid Zone is also a big annoyance, while it is a neat alternative lockscreen geared toward kids is built into sense and not exactly what I would make for a child.
The '4G' aspect is not quite all its claimed to be, in Pittsburgh averaging 3-4 Mbps, but is quite a bit more reliable than I would have thought. The GPS is fast to lock, till rooted it seems, and compass and multiple rotation sensors make it crazy accurate and very sensitive. This makes it great for gaming, almost as good as a gyroscope, if not slightly better in some aspects. And the Bluetooth 3.0 makes file pushes fast and simple. And the usb transfers at around 4MB/s making video upload easy.
The over all feel of the phone is awkward at first being just slightly thicker than the HTC glacier(MT4G) yet not as thick and stocky as the mt3gs, it has grown on me more everyday, and I am very happy I made this choice.
My over all rating of this phone would be a 4.5 out of 5, it is a beautiful piece of technology, and should be relevant for a while to come.

Speaking of other phones, does anyone know if the Nokia N9 will work on tmobile? It's a sick piece of equipment and IS the best camera for smart phone. The UI is effin dope and from specs and reviews this phone is killer. Any help will be appreciated .. thanx again for all the input. If there are any other phones out there please post. (worthy of posting)

You could always wait it out for the samsung hercules, nexus prime and htc ruby to show up. As far as i know they should all be hitting the market fairly soon. Just a suggestion

I just replaced my wifes MTS (Warranty) with a MTS in red, she loves the phone with CM7 on it and she likes the keyboard all in total I have replaced the 2 mytouch slides 5 times through t-mobile due to hardware failure (Camera, Front buttons, and keyboard issues)
I however just ordered a G2x and it should be here today, I'm not going anywhere though, I have always liked the MTS though it has not been a reliable phone CM7 Makes it so much better. One of the reasons I got a G2x is it has Vanilla android so I will get updates faster (More likely than phones with Sense)

I however just ordered a G2x and it should be here today, I'm not going anywhere though, I have always liked the MTS though it has not been a reliable phone CM7 Makes it so much better. One of the reasons I got a G2x is it has Vanilla android so I will get updates faster (More likely than phones with Sense)

With the release of sense 3.0 it wouldn't surprise me if phones with sense got updates sooner. Either way thanks your input. Let us know how that G2X goes for you

As a fellow G2x member, I say welcome! However to the updates, I'd have to say... Nope. We don't quite have Vanilla android... We waited a few months for Gingerbread and when we got it, it was "half-baked" and still not exactly Vanilla.
But the phone is a beast. Do enjoy it, cause I know I do.
And there's always rooting and roms.

Honest opinion of the atrix

Ive been wanting to try the atrix i just see a lot of mixed reviews so no where better to ask but here true users! Thanks for any replies maybe yall can help

Its depend on what you want, But for me the phone is a solid one, good gps (coming from htc inspire and the gps there was an horror) the screen seems very nice 275ppi, very fast phone, feels great in the hand. If you looks in the htc's dev there are much more support from dev than the atrix but here the roms are really nice, no craps, no experiments, and in some time we're getting cyan. I really like my phone!

I personally am in love with the phone. Great screen size, great resolution, great touch response, insane amount of onboard storage and ram so that apps never freeze up, and battery life that has made me question what good battery life really should be (even with moderate daily use I can go 30+ hours without a charger, I can go days if I don't use the phone at all, and about 9 hours of intense useage). It runs every app I've encountered like butter, including intense HD games (thanks to the Tegra processor and graphics).

Good phone, fast, slim, etc... but if your looking to get one in the near future, I'd wait till Oct. and get the Nexus Prime. Just my opinion though.

It is a very fast phone, you almost don't have any lag. Nice big 4" screen which works well even under bright sunlight. Though there are a lot of complaints about Motoblur, I kind of like it, it has almost everything I need, on my previous phone Motorola Milestone, I had to install all kinds of widgets just to get my phone to do these things.
More importantly if you are looking for a perfect phone, it is not and there is really no perfect phone. What is important is what are looking for in a phone? If you could list what you are looking for in a phone, then probably the users here would be able to provide you with input as to whether the phone will meet your expectations.

The mixed reviews of the Atrix are caused from the old radio roms which were current on 2.2.2 froyo roms. Now on stock 2.3.4 and latest radio rom, atrix is a true beast. It does everything instantly when you click and the best part, you always have a battery enough for the next charge. I truly love my atrix and always trust it wherever i'm, whatever i tend to do. It has no limits.
Plus, you can extend its functions way more with a lapdock accessory.

I bought mine about a month before the Gingerbread OTA update. As soon as that came out I applied it from MSU, then waited a little more than a week and finally took the plunge and ran mramirezusa's unlock/CWM/root script.
I really like the phone now and have absolutely no issues with it -- though I do miss the "white text on black background" menus in the previous stock ROM. I'm running navalynt's piCRUST ROM to dispense with some of the bloat, but the phone runs fine on the stock 4.5.91/2.3.4 ROM.
My only complaint is that the back cover could be a bit beefier. It uses tiny plastic clips to snap onto the main phone body. I wish it used a slide & lock type of affair like the BlackBerry.
I pulled the battery many times while learning how to flash the phone, and the back cover has gotten a little "creaky". Putting a case on the phone will firm it up enough so you don't hear or feel this. And learning how to use adb or fastboot to reboot when possible (instead of pulling the battery) will save wear and tear on the cover. But it's not like I ever need to pull the battery during regular use. I've only needed to do this when flashing didn't work for some reason (usually because I did something wrong).
Before this phone I had an HTC Desire HD. That phone was beautiful but it was simply too big for my hand, I couldn't comfortably hold it and push buttons with the same hand, and I felt that I needed to keep it in my smoking jacket when not in use. Gave new meaning to the phrase "Ginger-bread"; I always held it gingerly like some precious piece of jewelry. A bit too elegant for my tastes -- and heavy to boot.
I was pretty sure that HTC Desire would slip out of my hand within the first week of owning it, so I went back to Costco and picked out the next cheapest Android phone, which turned out to be the Atrix. It's much more my style. Nothing flashy except what's on the inside.

Useful thread as I very close to buying one. My choices (at the min) are the HTC Sensation, Samsung SII & Atrix and I know that everybody is going to scream 'get the SII' but I don't want a phone with such a large screen. I use my phone a lot but don't read ebooks or surf when in my lounge as I have an Android tablet for all of that.
I want a powerful phone that will run all my apps, allow me to 'play' with ROM's, have DLNA / HDMI connectivity and have a battery life better than 8 hours so (for me) the Atrix seems like the perfect device. I like the idea of the dock as it could replace my tablet but not at the current cost ! The Multimedia dock looks decent though as my plan would be to stream movies from my NAS through Atrix to HDMI TV.

I like the power that the Atrix produces, especially the 1gb ram. No other Android phone runs as smooth that I've used.
With that said, I don't like Qhd. Text font is too small at times IMHO. I've changed the build.prop density, but it can still be an eye strain.
The biggest thing that I want from ICS is hopefully a way to change a screen resolution like a PC.
Do that and this phone would be flawless!...

I came from Samsung Captivate. These are my own thoughts and YMMV
- The screen is not as good as the captivate. I mean yellow color seems funky
- The camera is baaad.
- Rest of the phone is good. 'Solid' is the word I would use. GPS is superlative. Well, i think coming from Captivate any GPS would feel superlative. .
- ROM options are less than that on Captivate, but we had a late start because of the locked bootloader. Soon Atrix will catch up.
I love it and don't regret dumping the captivate.

the one thing i hate most about this phone -
its so f*cking slippery! seriously.. if you have sweaty hands.. good luck holding onto this thing without a case.
other then that ---- the voice quality on phone calls incoming and outgoing is not great, but its also not horrible either --- middle of the pack.
the speaker is very loud, i find using that to talk to people is much easier then holding the phone up to my ear because i can understand people better.
the screen is fine... i like that i can actually see the thing in sunlight.

I've had mine for a little over a month now, I will say that I love this phone.
It is the perfect size for me; big but not too big.
It is FAST
The battery life is better than most smartphones
Camera is OK, it'll pass
ROM selection is growing.
Look and feel are almost HTC like IMHO
Price is spot on!!!

Really enjoyed when I used it. Feels great in hand.

For me it's been a great phone. And I've used a lot of smartphones under different platforms.
Android for me is rock solid and very nice to tweak and work on.
But the Atrix is a device on a different level thanks to it's Webtop implementation when used along with its accesories, specially the Lapdock, which has allowed me to leave my bulky and heavy laptop at home.
I really recommend you to try it and get some (if not all) of it's accesories. You will not regret it.

I just got mine last week when they were free at Best Buy. I was planning to hold out for the SGS2 but decided free was a wise option to take. My previous phone was the Dell Streak (standard 1ghz snapdragon phone) and we didn't have much in the way of custom roms so I was excited to switch to a phone with a real development community.
I never even booted the phone into the stock rom. My coworkers all have stock moto phones and motoblur is just bad. But running Alien #4 this phone screams and is glitch free. I think it's literally twice as fast as my Streak and am very pleased with my decision to get this phone. The screen is beautiful and the "4g" speeds are a nice little boost over standard 3g (I live in a town of around 175,000 so it's not a major city and data speeds are nice and fast at all times of the day).
Pros:
-Screaming fast
-Lots of accessories
-High resolution screen
-Huge battery
-Lots of internal memory
-Several good roms to choose from
-Gaming
Cons:
-Feels tiny after having the 5" Streak
-Camera is decent but not as good as others
-Can get pretty hot (but is not as hot as some other tegra2 devices I've tried

Is anyone coming to the One from Nexus 4? If so, why?

I went from Nexus 4 to HTC Droid DNA last Saturday (going back today) to this HTC One.
I like this much better. Sound and responsiveness are better to me.

How do you like the Sense compared to the stock N4?

I prefer stock, but the new version of Sense really isn't bad. It does not slow the device down like their previous versions did.

I just got my HTC One from AT&T,coming from a Nexus 4. I have to say this is the only phone I could have switched from. The build is superior, new sense isn't bad although I prefer stock JB. But the keyboard is alsoa pleasant surprise on the One.

My Nexus 4 is going on ebay next week. Most overrated phone. I still have my white GNex so I will still get the updates.

Had my HTC one now since became available, moved from N4, still have N4 but so far not been tempted to go back. New sense is pretty good, would like to turn blink feed off but its not intrusive to be an issue. Sound quality is much better through my head phones over the nexus and camera is better. More storage is a bonus too. Over all a much better phone even better if came with untouched android. Main reason I changed is I'm a tech junky and like HTC kit been waiting for them to bring out something of this quality.
Now a Nexus like this... Yes please!

This will most likely be my plan as well. I actually ordered the 32gb from HTC last night. After selling my N4, I'll be down about $250 which I'll just consider as an upgrade cost. If the N5 follows the same pricing structure as the 4, I should be able to break almost even when selling/buying.

From what I've read, the battery life is similar to the N4. One of the reviews also said the One has a really good standby (screen off) battery life, but someone who actually has it will have a better opinion.

Given sufficient funds, I would strongly advise to get the One over the N4. I really hated screen responsiveness, camera and the weird feeling of the glass back. And the speaker on the N4 can't even be compared to the ONE. And Sense has really made a big step forward. As all the others, I like a stock experience, but can completely work with Sense 5.0 in a satisfying way.

Well, N4 is also quite good if I don't use it, but as soon as screen is on, the percentages fly away quite quickly. For example I use my N4 to read a lot, which is not very ressources intensive, but really the battery is going fast!

I feel you, I usually have my N4 plugged in when I'm at my desk, or else the battery will drop pretty fast.

I think the speaker will be my favorite change. If the N4 is in my pocket, I can hardly hear the sound, since the little speaker hole is so easy to get covered up. I'm also willing to get Sense a go, worst case I'll just load a launcher.
