HD2 for new user - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I am going to be selling my beloved HD2 to one of a few people interested in buying it, never before has a mere "mobile phone" given me such pleasure from when i was a novice with it running WINMO to now when i am very clued up on custom ROM's/Android and the HD2 is now running Hyperdroid CM7 by Pongster, BUT i seriously have to have a Samsung Galaxy S2 so have to sell the HD2 to part fund buying the Galaxy S2.
So what do i do when selling the HD2 to someone who will probably know little or nothing about custom ROM's, i assume i have to do a full wipe, reflash and just leave it like that without syncing anything, is there anything else i need to do or know or just hand them the phone as it is and then they can put in their SIM and start using it?
cheers

put a stock rom back on it, then just hard reset it when its ready to be sold unless they ask you to put a custom rom or android on the device.

Hehe, I'm doing the opposite. Selling my SGSII to fund the HD2 I've purchased!

why would you want to do that, you would get a lot more for a Samsung Galaxy S2 than you would a HD2 plus it's undoubtely the best phone on the market now.
And i certainly wont be flashing a stock ROM on it ive already told anyones who is interested that it runs Android and personally i think a HD2 running WINMO just isn't up to it.

Also - if you want mate ill give you cash plus my HD2 for your Samsung Galaxy S2 (assuming it's new)

Sorry buddy, already bought my HD2, should be arriving tomorrow! :-D Purely because I need the money (SGSII was an upgrade) and I am so impatient and don't want to wait until AOSP Roms/Stock Android Roms start being developed for the SGSII, so I want a fairly cheap phone, with a 4.3 inch screen that can run lots and lots of different stock roms...HD2 is the answer!

Which new phone

Firstly, if this has been topic been posted pls post link
if not, I have an HD2 now and in a couple of month [finally!!!] get to upgrade
but to WinMo or Android??
Now I love my HD2 only because of Cookie Monster and his amazing widgets and the other widgets that amazing developer have posted.
will I lose all that if I go over to the dark side
Well I'm looking out for the HTC Pyramid and the Galaxy S II.
Pyramid or evo 3d
Thunderbolt or HD2
Pyramid
P.S. Buy your HD2
HD2 is the Lord of the SmartPhones
HD2 is God of Smartphones
I really wouldn't know. I am more leaning towards a WP7 and keeping my beloved HD2. Not sure what would be my daily driver tho. Can't miss the HD2.
My upgrade is due in a month, Im probably gonna go for the DHD......
Not sure how long I'll hold on to it. Will probably sell it on to put towards a newer large screen dual core android device when one turns up.
Hell, I might even just sell it straight away and buy a new laptop. I have my HD2 after all, why do I need another phone
You still get to keep your HD2 for 6.5/CHT goodness remember
You just can't go wrong with good ol' CHT...
... however I am leaving hd2 for galaxy s II on three uk in may.

Is the HD2 the new Honda Accord of cell phones?

This thread is inspired by the thread for Nook Color saying how the NC is the honda civic of tablets.
So the HD2 is much cheaper than a sensation or sg2, obviously not as nice. But the screen size is just as big, and there are so many roms for this thing.
And I just checked on amazon, and the going rate for a brand new HD2 is about 290 usd. That's half as much as a sensation, and about 1/3 as much as an sg2.
If all you do is check email, or make calls on your phone anyway, do you really need the newest dual core phone?
Hopefully, if prices continue to fall for the HD2, my next phone might still be an HD2 lol

I would say the HD2...the T-Mobile US version...is more like the Hummer of smartphones. It's super durable and can handle just about any task given it. It can also be clothed in many different ROMs to perform the specific tasks associated with each one. And it can run at least two ROMs at a time.
My original HD2 finally started failing in the card slot and I replaced it with a brand new one just a few days ago. But I got a solid 2 years of non-stop enjoyment from it. That says a lot about a phone when you own one for a lengthy period of time like 2 years and then go lay down the dough for another one exactly like it. But my new one came unlocked and with the 2.15.50.14 radio. All I had to do was hack it and put Android on it.
Yeahh i hear what your saying. I still love my HD2 and I haven't seen a phone that has come out that I was more excited about than the HD2. The only one that has come close was the Acer IconiaTab a101, but since they came out with the a100 first, I dont have time to wait another 8 months to upgrade to it. Im thinking the new hotness of dual core phones will replace my HD2. Strictly for the power alone. The HD2 will forever be the king of dev phones though. I have spent days just fooling around with the phone and updating stuff and testing roms. I will be sure to pick a new phone with the same romming abilities. HTC needs to unlock their bootloaders before its too late. Nice thread though... HD2! Bow your heads!

That's the sad part. There are no other phones that will do all of the ROMs the HD2 will do. Not because they aren't capable, but because no devs are working on anything other than Androids for them.
The HD2 will go down in history as the one and only modders-choice phone...unless a phone shows up that modders would bother to do all of the various OSes for, like they did with the HD2. It would have to be a super popular phone though.
I've only owned my HD2 for 8 months now, but I absolutely love it. I don't regret buying it at all. It helps me study for school. And thus not a waste of money at all.
And I hate signing up for 2 year contracts just for a phone, so I buy them off amazon or ebay (but ebay is a bad choice imo).
If you want a 4.3 inch screen for your phone, this is the best bang for your buck. And my HD2 lets me wait for the quad core phones with the even bigger screens to come out.
had my HD2 for 2 months now and it really is the best. had my kaiser (still working) for 4 years and was reluctant to change. i still need winmo 6 for best GPS (have TomTom and iGO) but android is catching up on that side. and theres no other phone that will do that.
winmo 7 is no good to me.
original winmo and android on SD is best for now.
ultimate will be when (if?) winmo is released for SD so i can run android on nand.
i assume this will still be legal(ish) as my phone came with licensed winmo 6?
Yea, i love the HD2.
I think you have to be a certain type of person to like it though. You have to know about computers.
I think that the original rom for the HD2 was un-usable. If i didnt know how to change it, i think i would have destryoed the phone after a year of dispair.
But since there is a great world of developer teams out there who have created some brilliant roms and radios, theres always upgrading to be done. Something new to put on after evey week or so.
And then now ive flashed WP7 and its the best thing ive ever done! Brand new phone, no akwardness with 'OK' buttons that actually exit the application (im sure you know what im talking about). No more ickiness.
Just need the right SD card and it works like a charm (give you have the patience to find the right one!)
HD2 is still the King as per Cotulla.....

Farewell HD2

Hey guys and girls
Leaving you lot. I dropped my HD2 on its screen and the cost to replace it is stupid. I'm not going to repair it myself although I'm sure I could I don't want to in case anything goes wrong. So I sold my HD2 and moving onto the Samsung galaxy s (i9000)
Like to say a thank you to all the people who worked countless hours making android work for us to YukiXDA for making the BEST Windows Phone 7 ROM to date and the MIUI lot for making the BEST android ROM.
Farewell HD2 onto I9000 and its confusing kernel's..... > : (If anyone could explaing them to me FANK YOOUU)
(For people wondering why I'm not buying another HD2 because of these problems: The screen is old, 65M colours/2 touch points (Major problem for me when typing)
Poor sound chip (I like my music)
Weight)
Well farewell! Leo the King! Have fun with your new Samsung Galaxy S i9000! Well, good luck! Have fun with the SGS i9000 forums, which is right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665 btw, why didn't you get the SGS II instead? Aha

What phone will you take after your HD2?

Hi there,
I was wondering what phone you would get, after your hd2...
Still love this phone and don't know wich phone to take... i'm start looking for a phone on wich i can just as hd2 can tweak alot
On hd2 i can use WP7 + alot of different android roms.... and (still using) windows mobile... For example i havn't find a gps nav software like igo 8 for android or wp7
What phone will you get after your hd2? And why?
Just wondering
Bye
Another HD2 ?
I looked into this but seriously there isn't one that i would like it to be the replacement for my HD2, i had a desire (great AMOLED screen but meh), a Desire HD (very nice phone, no extended battery but meh, just android?)..and so on.
uhm...i'd pick any phone that's prettier than my hd2..and a phone that won't freeze on me after every text or so..also..i have a thing for slide phones..i'm sorry i cant deal with full touch screens...>__<..i'm considering the myTouch (violet) phone...but i don't like the tiny screen... =[ *sniffles* if only my hd2 could have all the cute lil android stuff...
Just bought another hd2...
It will run wp 7 and Android.. .
This phone is da bomb!
can anyone help me
i think of getting a used htc hd2 am really amazed by the multi os system am getting it at resonable price of around 13000 INR its 6 months old and is in good condition
if i get it now wont it be like am missing out any thing that present has to offer????
so what do guys suggest this phone or any other???
buying used HD2 is some kind of risk. Everybody knows about it`s issues with CPU heating and damaging digitizer with constant pressing red/cancel button.
But this phone is definitely unique, especially at nowadays price. Not the most powerful but the most customizable

so is there anyway to determine the digitizer and stuff are in good shape?
Phone i saw looks gud atlst otsde is gud
n ya nt mst powrfull device bt stil a 1ghz processor is stil gud aint it?
I'm thinking of buying the Galaxy Nexus because it seems to be a really great phone.
But the fact is that the HD2 is the best phone if you want to change roms, try windows, meego, ubuntu, android.
So I'm still hesitating.
The best thing would be to find a ne phone (faster one) with the same dev community
I'm trying to hold out until the HTC EDGE is out about March next year according to a HTC rep I was speaking to.
Unfortunately for me my back button on the HD2 has just stopped working today
Hoping I can find a way to fix it.
I'm also asking myself the question about what next after HD2 because mine just have this damned digitizer problem : no way to unlock the screen !!!
I've tried 3 Android ROMs , 1 WM ROM and even the Orange stock ROM : same problem everytime so it's definitely a hardware problem...
The Samsung Galaxy S2 looks nice, but I wonder about its quality and ability to be customized.
The best thing to do is figure out what you want it for. I'd probably go with a sensation or Droid RAZR depending on what has more activity on XDA. Honestly that's the only real way to go forward IMO. Track new phone progress on XDA and see which ones have a lot of progress and supoort in CM and other devs. Then get that used on Craigslist or eBay before it becomes super popular. I got the HD2 when Android still didn't work on it, and that let me pick it up for $115 then second one I got was 2 months later and it was already $150. Now, almost 2 years later it's $250. That's just amazing. The same thing might happen to other phones once they get good dev support on XDA and you have a bunch of code heads trying to pick them up used.
Sensation, RAZR, Thunderbolt, MyTouch 4g is okay. I'd just stick with good companies with good support. HTC IMO is the best there is for smartphones.
Many phones are good for customisation. The only problem is the dev community.
We should all choose the same new phone so that we can have a great community.
So, go galaxy nexus^^
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket.
Sent from my Sensation XL using xda premium
galaxy note
I'll be getting galaxy note. Once you get used to a big screen, you'll never be satisfied with smaller one.
I am thinking SGS2, looks like there will soon be some good DEV's shifting to it.

Ye, that was I thought too. I've cheked some tests, benchmarks etc and Galazy note is the best phone on the marked. I've played with Galaxy S II and it's fastest device i saw. All the test says that Galaxy Note is even faster and better.

Beloved HD2 to Galaxy s (vibrant)

Just wanted to thanks all developers that worked on the hd2 while i had it, i really enjoy it.
switched to samsung galaxy vibrant
got it for $100 bucks and sold the hd2 for $100 so win win
by the way ics runs wayyyyyyyyyy smoother on vibrant will recommend u to switch plus it will probably get official update. Everything works.
Guess is time for the hd2 to rest in peace.
By the way dont take it the wrong way but developers of hd2 should start migrating to other phones since hd2 hardwarely talking is dying we all know that. Your skills will be more appreciated on newer phones.
Thanks
Erick

well said bro !!
!! the most versatile phone ever made !
The Vibrant sucks. You'll be back. I'm on my third HD2.
I think HD2 can live a bit longer.
It's easy to try newer sys.
HD2 is a well designed, very powerful and functional smartphone. The only drawback now is the lack of front camera. So HD2 will live as long as people will miss his performance.
yep i had a vibrant for about 6 weeks and sold it fast
