Hello everyone, today I replaced my digitizer and I ended up breaking my side volume buttons.
My question is, is there away to navigate thru MAGLDR or flash roms without the volume bar.
& where could I find a replacement? some help please! Thanks to everyone!
Ps: its not the actual physical button but the inside.

sucks for you bro
hmmm... i know of no other way to navigate it unless the code is rewritten
you could always use the sd versions of android like we all did before new years
You can buy a new flex cable on ebay for approx. $40 USD.
Replace the flex cable
I had same problem on my HD2. I bought my cell very cheap, because those bottoms were also cut over flex cable as yours. The only way is to replaced. I fixed my phone few days ago and now everything works smoothly.
Check on ebay for Flex Cable Kabel Ribbon For HTC Touch HD2 II Leo T8585

now im not to familiar with this method but u should try and giving the clk method a read thru i think u use command promp to run the commands to flash roms(so im guessing from what i have interpreted i could be wrong) but i know with older androids(g1,mytouch) thats what i would do....use the android sdk and run command promp on my laptop and flash like that....

Welcome to forums
To discard that a hard reset should be done, but have in mind if it´s the screen problem that maybe you won´t be able to use it.
Good luck,
It sounds like most likely a flex cable problem. Flex cable and hinge can be purchased on eBay as one unit (the assembly makes separation impossible), however, there is always some danger that problem may be caused by the LCD itself or the mainboard. The only way to diagnose the problem is by process of elimination - to try your board in another working machine and then trying another screen in your device.
OK
I'll try
Thank you
I'm guessing this is your problem =] (oj)

Where could i purchase such parts, As i'm thinking of revaming my uni with a new case and screen bits as well as a new battery =]
- i've found a case for the vodaphone version which is sliver, but gives me a full re-kit : Screen case, Keyboard case, + Keyboard.
but tbh i really want a new full black XDA Exec (02) re-kit with the same parts
Hi.
Dropped HD2 and broke the screen. It still worked so sent it off to M-Blue in Essex (htcphonerepairs.co.uk) for a new digitizer and screen. After a lot of hassle (dont use them for repairs) and 4 weeks waiting for the digitizer and screen to be replaced, I finally got it back.
Now the power on and volume up/down buttons work fine, but other buttons (call, Home, Windows, return) don't.
HD2 boots to MAGLDR or Android no problem and touch screen works. Because I cannot select the USB Flasher in MAGLDR, I cannot flash any other rom or use the phone once a selection via the screen has been made (i.e. cannot return to the home or previous screen).
Any suggestions on what the problem might be or how to solve this?
this happened to me recently..first try to check if the bottom buttons are aligned, do you feel and hear the "click" everytime you press it? if that doesnt do it, you may need to buy another flex cable like I did! theyre about $14 or so on ebay not sure! then you have to go back to the hassle of disecting your phone again to replace it *sucks i know but it will work out after! hope this helps and goodluck
Hi. Thanks for this. I cannot feel the click, so assume you are correct. I will get a new flex cable and report back.
no click means its not align properly/
New Cable ordered
Thanks to everyone who responded.
As I was checking the buttons, i found the cable was broken. not sure if it was me or not. Still ordered a new keyboard cable. will need to waitr for it to be delivered and installed before any other problems can be fixed.
Hey y'all,
I am having a weird problem. I have an HD2 wich worked great. Now after some time I am having a problem with the phone waking up. When it's active and unlocked, the touchscreeen works great, but when I turn off the screen and turn it back on, it won't let me unlock it. The touch screen just doesn't seem to work any more.
So I thought maybe relfashing could help. Said and done - reflashed Android > didn't work. Wiped, flashed WP7 > didn't work.
After some time and trying 3457 times, it works sometimes and once it is unlocked everything works well. But it's unusable this way.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
JR
I had this problem yesterday. I bought my phone second hand, it had a brandnew touchscreen, the previous owner dropped it.
after 3 months (yesterday) it started woring really bad. 8/10 times it wouldnt work.
I got my hands on a HD2 which was bricked (epic fail) for 10 bucks and swapped my mainboard. it works flawlessy again. Im guessing the replaced digitizer was a cheap knockoff from China.

My friend's phone has the same issue. Touchscreen works if you wake up the phone by back button, but it does not if you wake up with power button. Did you try that?
The most strange thing is, it is the same when on windows or android, as you said.

Hey there.
After some searching I found out, that the digitizer is messed up. The thricky thing is: The digitizer hardware is located right beneath the power button. This is what is causing the problem (the power button was messed up a little also). So if you are experiencing the same issue - try pushing the power button a little harder. That might make you able to wake up the phone.
I would have to renew the digitizer, wich is a real pain and a lot of work. You'll get a new HD2 for around 130€ and the digitizer costs about 60€ I guess. Plus all the work and the risk of f***king it.
SO - my choice will be a new one. HD2 is just a great phone because of it's community!
or get a bricked on for less like I did. Swapping the mainboard is really easy if you take the time and use the iFixit repair guide. I used a hair dryer to ease up the internals by heating it up and with a suctioncup I pulled the internals right out of the shell.
the copper sticker is a real pain in the ass though... But its doable.
You'll need a T5 torx screwdriver.
Oh and I love the HD2 community no doubt about it

I have the same problem, you think it gets resolved by buying a new digitizer? I was told the problem is not that main board but only the digitizer so not worth the hassle of getting a bricked phone I assume.
Thanks

A nonresponding digitizer can be caused by many things. I´ve heard of the end key messing with the touchscreen controller and vice versa.
I had a replacement digitizer on my HD2, it stopped working and now I have a genuine digitizer.
The genuine screen is just much much much better. It just feels much better. It´s more ´slick´. And less grime attracting.
Look in the general section for people who have bricked their HD2 and PM them and offer them money

There is no way you can use magldr since it uses the volume buttons, you will have to stick to windows mobile at some way =/, But I think you can't enter bootloader 2, since you will have to hold down the volume down button.
Not only you can't go up and down, but also flash rom or adjust volume.I suggest you should have fixed it

I sent an reply in magldr thread for you so i am not gonna write it again here. But i recommend you to get vol buttons fixed because you basically cant do anything regarding flasing roms without vol buttons. Maybe i have temp solution for you but no promises I will give it a try myself tomorrow and let you know if it works

...or wait for the release of the Magldr touch screen version
but still will have limitations w/o the up/dn botton
You need to replace the soft flex, it contains the side volume buttons. Buttons by themselves are impossible to replace due to the type of connection to the main flex, therefore the whole thing needs to be done.
Like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIG-MAIN-FL...907?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c261b5cb
Not very difficult to replace, just need to be careful.
If you live in city, you can try to get it repaired may cost you 10-20$

I think we are talking about different things. The side volume flex cannot be repaired, because it is a part of the main flex and the whole thing needs to be replaced in order for volume buttons to work. I know the assembly and disassembly procedure very well indeed. What I had issues with is the suggestion that the volume flex can be repaired by itself for $10-$20. It cannot be. End of story. Sending me links to the disassembly procedure will not change that.

Depends if the cable itself is actually torn or if the volume buttons don't work because the dome contact and the tape came off the flex itself (misaligned probably over time)
I have had this happen to both my hd2's and I repaired both of the volume contact dome/tape with superglue.. all it takes is a toothpick and some patience.. just add tiny dabs of superglue on the corners of the plastic part of the volume button itself and then carefully slide the contact dome/tape onto it, wait for a minute, and it should be good for use.
