[Q] What about Android Movie Studio? - Eee Pad Transformer General

Is that available on the Transformer?

Yes, it's part of the 3.1 update. It's fairly limited as far as a video editor is concerned, but it does work for simple cuts.
Bye.

It's part of the 3.1 stock Rom...haven't used it yet though..

Ok, thanks guys

[Q] no slacker app?

First day with transformer. I use Slacker extensively on my DX but Market doesn't show me any love. Hoping it is temporary issue. Anybody know if it is not supported?
Not not have Honeycomb support. You could e-mail the dev to ask if they are working on a Honeycomb tablet compatible app.
Thanks. I didn't realize that some apps would not be available on Honeycomb tablets.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised given that many apps for iPhones don't run on iPad (excluding the 2X option).
You could use Pandora for now...

Thank you 3.1 thread / web browser stay open?

First off I'd like to thank everyone in the 3.1 thread for helping me update my iconia A500 while staying rooted! <----- You all deserve a MAJOR MAJOR round of APPLAUSE! Being able to get this OS on a ROOTED Acer A500.. Wow.. you guys are amazing!
I have a newb question though. as a new comer to android and honeycomb.
Is there any way that I might be able to "background" my web browser. I like to listen to lovlineshow.com stream every night at 10PM Pacific time. and as soon as you leave the browser the feed shuts off? <---- WHAT?! am I using iOS?
I am already extremely impressed with this device over my gen 1 ipad.. and was able to test my gps while tethered to my phones hot spot today appears that this issue is resolved. But I'd really like the ability for things to run in the background. TRULY run in the background..
Let me know what your thoughts are or if there is some sort of android magic I can apply here to achieve what I need.
Thanks again. I'm very excited to A.) upg to 3.1 BEFORE JULY 1st also B.) Keep Super user and root. <--- Just in case I need it
PS. there are 2 other things that I cannot do on my tablet that my ipad currently does well.
A.) NETFLIX
B.) Justin.tv app for iconia does not view stream.

Does Netflix Still Work on Iconia A500?

Hey there you sexy people. I'm looking at buying a tablet, but if I'm going to purchase a tablet it *must* support Netflix streaming; this is my most desired feature. My second most desired feature is a full-size USB port, so woohoo for the Iconia!
When the unofficial (hacked) APKs came out I know people had some luck with it working on the device. My question is, does it still work, or has Netflix killed it with a server-side update?
I'm specifically looking for answers from people who have recently tried it within the last few days (or are able to try it right now).
If anyone cares to add to the discussion aside from Netflix, feel free to tell me what made you happy or angry about the A500. I know the Android 3.1 release being pushed back over and over is a big one. I'd like to hear if you are glad with your choice in tablet.
Thank you all!

even the hacked apk's never worked. They were mislabeled as working on that thread. i've been trying just about every hour of every day to get the market version as well as every release thats been put up on the internet along w/ build.prop modifying to get this thing rocking netflix... but alas it still isn't working.
aaaanyway, thats not to say it wont work anytime soon but the only tablet it works awesome on to my knowledge is the ipad, and i'm not counting 7" tablets because i just dont care enough about them to look into them.
and to dive deeper into what you posted about the only real gripe i have for this a500 is that its heavy, you get used to it after a while but at first its crazy heavy. Partly the size has to do w/ the usb port i'm sure, making it thicker which is unfortunate but the weight... i have no idea where its coming from after playing around w/ the galaxy tab for a bit.
good times, hope you find a tablet that works for you.
From my understanding regarding the Netflix app (this is compiled from reading many threads on the subject):
Tablets based on Android 2.3.3 seems to work fine.
Tablets based on Android 2.3.4 is a hit or miss proposition, mostly miss. The ones that don't work either have no playback or playback is at a faster speed ("the chipmunk effect" as some call it).
Tablets based on Android launches, but doesn't playback at all (at least up to 3.0.1...don't know about 3.1, will have to read the threads again). Usually says the device is unsupported.

I was unaware of both of these things; thank you for your input, gentlemen!
i wish
In Honeycomb 3.0 Netflix does not even show up in the market on the a500 - none of the modified versions out there seem to work. Tried a million of them.
After flashing the unofficial advance leak of 3.1 for the Iconica - Netflix does show in market, everything works except actually watching anything - bombs out with a 12001 : cannot connect to server.
I would guess support will be added soon - perhaps around the time 3.1 becomes official.

Want to buy A500 - Whats about Video Compatibility Problems ?

Hi there,
i m not yet a Iconia A500 owner but i m thinking about buying one. i read a lot of tests and iconia seems the right one for me and i think i would be happy with it for this pricelevel.
How ever, ... i read in different tests that this tab would be better if it would playback standard video formats.
What is the meaning with this ... ??
can´t believe that standard formats should not play. i mean there a tons of developers building their roms and in none of them i read about "added video codec pack" or something like that.
Would be fine to get a feedback with your experience about videoplayback on iconia.
One more question: is it possible to get android 2.1/2.2 Roms running on honeycomb 3.0... what i mean: Is the honeycomb system of iconia downwards compatible to "older" install files .apk ?? (Want to install few things what i ve on my android 2.2 phone)
best greets,.. hope you can help me
Psy
Video playback performance depends on the player app you are using. The best video player for the Iconia is the DicePlayer. You can get it from the Android Market for about 5 US-$. This player plays DivX and h.264 MKVs (up to 720p) flawlessly.
Best regards, maris
Not all old .apk's are compatible with Honeycomb. Some of them don't fill the whole screen. In 3.2 it's possible to make them fit but they look ugly.
The apps that doesn't work on Honeycomb are not in the tablet market. But you can try to load them with your phone and put it on the tablet sd card.
Then install it and see if they work, some of them do.
But you will find the most important apps on the tablet market and they work well.
Sorry for my bad english, i'm from Austria

Please, I want a confirmed answer from someone who has updated to ICS from stock HC.
Will the update wipe all my data? I've seen answers here stating that it will, and that it won't. So, what's going to happen, FOR REAL??

Apps are definitely not wiped.
I personally recommend you factory reset after though, just in case you end up one of those with issues after the upgrade. I factory reset mine even though I had no problems. So, backup whatever is on your internal storage that you want just in case you do end up having to wipe it.

Acer Transitions Popular Iconia™ Tab Line to Android 4.0 to Give Customers More Features and Capabilities
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 17, 2012 – Acer America is now updating its award-winning Acer Iconia™ Tab line of tablets with the latest version of Android 4.0 OS (Ice Cream Sandwich).

With Android 4.0, the Acer Iconia Tab line will provide new features to give customers more usability and enjoyment from their tablets. Customers will notice the improvements right away – including the faster browser, enhanced app and folder management options, more intuitive navigation, and a completely reimaged design that is more polished with enhanced holographic effects. Features and Enhancements Unique to Acer Tablets
The new update of Android 4.0 also includes several new features that are unique to Acer tablets. The Acer Ring can be launched with a single touch and lets customers have quick and easy access to apps, surf the web, capture screen images, post photos and status updates to their social networks, and more.
