Is there a free diy way other than flashing custom rom? I know i can find codes on the ebay for 20 dollars, but i'm cheap.
Also, i know there are already many post on this matter, but there are no current information in them.
Also, i did not find an answer does flashing void warranty?

Has anyone found a cure for this device yet? I was told to get my replacement from the 800 number well I did and it was that darn IPL 2.25.001. I have 4 of these things all new we like the design of the 8125 better than the mda... problem is we want to use the cooked ROMS. I have posted messages and searched but no one can seem to find a way to CID unlock them. Before I fork over anohter 40 bucks usd to use the imie check website. I need to know will be be able to use the cooked (modded roms) that are here on the XDA forums.......... Has anyone with the :
IPL 2.25.001
SPL 2.25.001 succesfully used any of the cooked roms. Please note these came from the factory like this. No updates are modifications have been made to these devices. We got them for a good price from an overseachs vendor they sell for $225 new. They are still locked to Cingular and we need to know should we throw in the towel and get our money back and just settle for the Tmobile MDAs (apparntly the MDA's have not met the infamous G4 Chip upgrade) Any light you can shed on this would be a great help.
nevermind.
If you CID unlock (using imeicheck website) then you can used cooked roms. The catch is that you need to remove the bootloader (IPL/SPL).
If you read the thread on homecooked roms you will find easy instructions on how to do this.
hi... i`m new here... i have a question...
if i flash or unlock to be available to all networks an Orange SPV M700 i`ll lost my warranty from it?
I'm not a lawyer or anything but I'm pretty sure that you void your warranty flashing your device, provided that you're not a certified support representative. Also you risk turning your device into an expensive brick.
My 2 cents....

While it's important for anyone to realise that not correctly flashing a phone can brick it and flashing with a bad ROM can do the same I'm sure many agree with me that there is no point scaremongering, either.
I have surely invalidated my warranty by flashing my phone and SIM unlocking it. Currently I flash a new ROM every week or so, to test and report problems with WM6 ROMS to encourage and help development.
Must have flashed my Trinity 30 times.
It is far from an expensive brick...still
If you're curious enough, you'll just hope that go ahead and flash. If you're going to go down the SIM unlock - I would recommend using this first: http://server2.dimonvideo.ru/uploads/public/users/lvsw/Trinity/HardSPL/Hard-SPL.zip
this is "Hard-SPL" and will enable you to use hardward buttons to go into bootloader and reload a ROM even if an upgrade fails - thereby rendering your phone virtually "unbrickable".
Great advice. But I don't think he was trying to scare anyone, just warn them. Friendly warnings are ALWAYS helpful.
Also, an important item to note, another benefit of using HardSPL is you can get your phone back to "spec" if you need to send it in for warranty repair. So warranty woes are all but gone.

ok..thanks for advices
but if i go to unlock my sim to a certified support ? i`ll lost my warranty ?
If you just want a SIM unlock, and are willing to pay for that, it won't invalidate the warranty. The best tool for that is IMEICheck which costs £20 and includes full CID unlocking for when you want to update the ROM to a non-OEM version.
Flashing with a new Radio or OS ROM will invalidate. Some of the 'free' unlock tools work by flashing the radio ROM, thereby invalidating the warranty in the process.
ok tnx guyz i understand tnx again for help
I have by quirky ways rooted a brand new unlocked G1, installed hardSPL, the recovery.img from the big unlock thread, and JF 1.51 (adp version).
But for some reason my phone is still simlocked to t-mobile, and I can't undestand why. It asks for "SIM network unlock PIN". In theDudes ROM I couldn't even get past this screen, in JF I can dismiss it. But still not use my norwegian SIM card. Wy? I can't think where this SIM lock is placed, and couldn't imagine it would still be there after installing ADP firmware... Is this something built in the GSM-hardwares firmware?
rooting your phone and sim unlocking it are 2 different things. You need to talk to T-mobile about an unlock code (it's free)
Argh, I really thought custom ROM would take care of it. With full root access to the system, is there no way to fix this? Should be. 8P
Can i send T-mobile a mail with IMEI and ask for unlock code? I have my doubts... Bought it from ebay, so I have no receipt or anything.
I doubt T-mobile would do it being that it was bought from ebay (but I can't be sure) There might be someone here that may know how to get it unlocked for you that or jsut try searching for unlocking g1 (might come up with something)
Please post in the General for this has nbearing on development of the G1
Thanks
moved to general

Sorry, was lurking around in development, didn't consider posting it elsewhere.
cidica: google only reveals payment options, not so interested in that. Google also results in several sites and guides, claiming rooting and flashing custom ROMs will allow use of any simcard. But alas, apparently not. Still wondering if it is something I have done wrong. Why shouldn't a custom ROM solve this problem?

Depending on what version of software your Hero has, the unlock code may not be accepted using stock ROM.
You might need to flash with a custom ROM (Nandroid backup first of course), and then unlock when running Modaco Custom ROM (or another, although I know MCR works for this).
You can then either return to stock or keep the custom ROM (personally, I run the modaco ROM permanently it's so fast...

How to flash --> Google, there are loads of video guides
An example of unlocking website which requires no work, just cash ---> http://www.mobileunlocked.com/HTC/Hero
Suggest you do a search in these forums
According to many posts the Orange Hero is very difficult to unlock. Just using an unlock code will often not work - patchy results at best, with many reporting failures.
It appears that you will need to reflash a custom ROM. This is something that could brick your phone if you get it wrong. I am told it is easy if you follow the instructions carefully and there are lots of people on this forum that have successfully done it. It will almost certainly void any warranty you have on the phone (if Orange ever find out about it).
So the choice is yours.
It's not too difficult to put a custom ROM on, so long as you are sensible about it, and read the instructions as you do it.
Personally, I reckon you'll end up keeping the custom ROM after doing this (if it's modaco especially) since they are much faster than the stock ones.
You are also able to re-flash to an orange ROM if you wanted to, meaning that if you return it back to original fully, orange can't tell that you've done anything.
I think 2 years is almost a record for resurrecting an old post.
The last post was in January 2010, when locking UK Orange Heros was difficult. There are now thousands of places to get a Hero unlocked in January 2012. And the cowboy website this latest post has linked to wants £49 to unlock a UK Orange phone in 2 to 4 days! Yes you read that right! That is £29 more than Orange themselves wanted to give me an unlock code.
A few months ago when I wanted my Hero unlocked (passing on to daughter) it cost me £4 on Ebay and I got the code within an hour on a Sunday.
So I would say steer well clear of this site.
EDIT - the post I was referring to has been removed!!!

I bought a code from eBay yesterday (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NETWORK-UNLOCKING-CODE-HTC-DESIRE-G2-HERO-HD2-TOUCH-PRO-2?item=270929961249 from usman4947) for £2.95; it arrived within five minutes and it worked fine on my T-Mobile G2 Touch.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section folks (Please move if necessceary(
Had a fallout with my mobile provider (EE UK) so more or less basically my phone well my sim card with them is dead. I've signed up to Three Mobile (Forgive my terrible spelling) I have no idea if the phone is locked to EE though and no way of checking it currently (I'm going to flash it with a Three mobile firmware soon) even if it is locked which I fear it might be is it possible for the phone to be unlocked?
Already it's not started well. Tried to flash the 3 mobile firmware via odin and the thing failed! Help
can you let me know if you manage to get it unlocked im with ee and there customer service is rubbish,,,
This I have NO idea if this will work I can't verify just now but apparently this is a code to unlock S5'S:
http://autoomobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s5-unlock-code-leak-came-from-the-inside/1006249/
I need to get my phone up and running a bit first I will let you know of course if I get anywhere
There are no free SIM unlocking methods available. In particular the method in the post above will not work on any S5. You can pay an unlocking vendor $10 - $40 to unlock your S5. And a few carriers may give you an unlock code if you have been a customer for a minimum time period and have an account in good standing.
It's good practice to do a search before posting a question. Most questions have already been asked and answered and there is a wealth of information in existing threads. Anyone who had tried searching for this question would already have their answer as there are dozens, if not hundreds of existing threads about this.
