Just flashed 2.3.4 via Odin and after reboot it asks for a password, can't get into recovery because password is needed for that aswel. So tried flashing back to JVH and after that's done it asking me for password again! So just flashed darkyys resurrection v9 and its fine now, but if I want gingerbread back its just asking for a password. Mega confused :/ lmao.
Edit. Found the solution! just enter any password multiple of times until it says wiping data!
You mean this??
It happened to my friend's phone, which is now resting peacefully on his Table. He tries to flash it 2 times a day hoping that he get through. There is no solution for this yet and it seems to be a rare issue. The only firmware that works for him is JPU
You must write any password several times. Then phone reboot into recovery.

Happened to me too. Just type a random password a few times. Phone will do a full-wipe, but you can use it after that.
Thankyou! I shall try this! And post back the result.

Can someone confirm this ?
still cool
This is 100% checked.
It happened to me as well. Entering the wrong password multiple times did the trick. Not sure why it happened in the, first place. If someone has any idea as to what causes this issue.

Thanks for the link. Won't help me, unfortunately Volume Up + Power doesn't show anything on the screen
...and we are back
Just took the battery off, put it on. Switched on the device and voila - back to that stupid motoblur login (It was actually the reason - I tried to do hw reset to get rid of email/password since I entered random data there and now can't neither remember it nor reset the password)

Ok sweet glad all is well at least =-D
So i was checking out the Sprint GSII today in the sprint store and it had a screen lock password on it so i figured some punk put a password on there. I proceeded to go into the stock recovery to do a data wipe and get rid of the screen lock too check out the phone. I navigated too the wipe function, confirmed it then... IT ASKED ME TO ENTER IN THE PASSWORD WHILE IN RECOVERY! The a keyboard came up and everything IN RECOVERY
This must mean you can run apks while in recovery? Can someone confirm the same thing on other GS2 versions by creating a screen lock password and trying to wipe cache or data on the stock recovery?
Maybe other devices can do this too, but ive NEVER noticed it. Does this make GUI's for recoveries possible with touch enabled to eliminate volume button abuse? If someone can figure out how sammy is doing it, that is. Because as far as i know, running an apk in recovery just flat out isn't possible.
^ Teamwin stole my idea, which I am perfectly okay with
If you have an screen lock password set then you need to enter it when using the recovery option.

so let me get you right here.... you went in to the sprint store and tried to hack the display model??? only to be asked for a password....

Why hasn't a dev ever picked up the idea for a recovery GUI if you can run have touch enabled in recovery?
I tried to put password on my device, the international galaxy s2
., went to the recovery without any verification passwords?

I think it's good if your phone has a password and it was stolen, then the thief can't just wipe the phone, but if you ever forget that shyt, stresssss

You have a custom recovery, I'm assuming so it wouldn't have a lock.
Even if the thief couldn't wipe it from recovery, Odin would anyways. So I think its sorta pointless.

Even flashing a wipe firmware with repartition will not get rid of the password prompt.

Use the pin unlock screen and set a unlock pin. After try to flash a new firmware or wipe the device from recovery.

Dude you're using a custom recovery. It only works with the stock one.
Would be nice if the PIN is only needed power on, then it would be a nice security feature. But having to enter it everytime I use the phone is kinda annoying.
Of course, i use pattern lock if anything. Less annoying.
But the main point im trying to make, is that if a keyboard can run, why cant there be touch enabled GUIs for recovery?

when clicking on software update it does its thing connecting to the server. after that it tells me a new version is available check the notification panel. well thats the problem....THERE IS NOTHING THERE!
this is the first time this has happened to me.
Any Ideas?
UPDATE!! restored one more time and update went through. im pretty sure the servers were causing the issue last night.

haha Roger That.
My Nexus 4 won't boot. It gets stuck at the spinning colored circles. I picked up my phone in the morning and the charge was down to 4%, and as I was entering my pin to unlock it powered off. I have lollipop and received the update OTA a couple of weeks ago, and it has been fine. I did not manually install lollipop.
I tried clearing the cache, and it still won't boot. Any ideas of what else I could try? I really don't want to do a factory reset.
Thank you in advance.

Yes.
Oh, that would explain it.
It crashed while decrypting, and I fear, there is no option to save your data.
Maybe someone other has an idea, I don't have one, sorry.

Ya, that's what I was afraid of. I'm not sure if I finished entering my pin or not before it powered it self off.
unplug anything from the usb port , then give it another shot.
Hi guys.
I'm really stuck here. My fingerprint sensor suddenly started showing me 'no match' when I try to scan it, but I can unlock my screen with the emergency password.
However, if I try to access private mode, neither my fingerprint nor my backup password works.
Can anyone shed some light on this matter?
Thanks.
EDIT: My phone is an SM-910F.

Try deleting your fingerprints and adding them again, or maybe restarting the phone would help.

I can't even access my fingerprint manager. And I've restarted a few times to no avail.
It also seems that the only place my emergency password works is the lock screen. I can't even change my lock type.
