Help to solve it please..when i try to coonect to the internet via wifi without pass there is no problem...but when i try to connect to a wifi with pass, i enter the password, and the phone shows that it is connected.but i cant open the web pages.it isnt working
Did you add your wifi mac address to router to allow filtering? That should solve your problem.

Can u say step by step how to add please?
Well it depends on your router. I cannot exactly tell you as your router software will be different than mine. Just enter into router settings, hope you will know how to? Look for wifi section, and mac filter, you will have to add your phones wifi mac address, its unique to phone. Menu> status> about phone> wifi. Tour wifi should be on. Then try rebooting the modem. Just try to use use wep encryption using 64 bit key, if it works try higher encryption levels.

Try to change wireless settings in router. Change security to WEP mode only. I think that worked for me.

I have the stock Android 2.1 on my phone and I rooted it but nothing else. For some reason my phone will not connect to my home WiFi. I put in the WEP key and it still says disconnected. Not sure if root had anything to do with it since I only assumed WiFi was working before I rooted. Any ideas? WEP is right, not sure what the "Key Index" is...

Is your router setup to only allow N connections? If so, the default wifi is only for G and B networks unless you have updated the kernel.
Could it be because you're a dirty gator? Sorry, I know that's not helpful, please forgive me. Go Noles!!!

Harrison, I am certain that's not the problem.

I hit connect but the status under the WiFi setting never changes from disconnected.

Well first of all root def.ly is not the reason. I would try a few things such as reboot the phone and router. Next I would try to disable the security on the router just for testing. see if you can connect without any key. Also try connecting to an open Wifi connection that is available. This open would narrow down your problem to either the phone or your home network. If you are able to connect to other wifi connection then the issue is not with the phone but your home network.
Mine seems to not want to connect to the wifi until I go into Settings - Wifi, then suddenly it decides my wireless router is there and connects. The only other app on my phone that can activate the wireless radio is Wifi Analyzer, but I have that feature turned off.
i'm having trouble connecting my dhd to wifi. it can connect but i cant surf to any pages?
can someone help me?
any error message available?
have you tried restarting the router and then try again?
if fails, could you use an terminal emulator to type in ifconfig and check the IP address assigned?
wich encryption are you using to secure the connection?
no the only message i get is when i open a page it says it cannot load it
i tried restarting the router but nothing helps
lets start at the basics and work our way up,
go to settings, wireless en network, and wi-fi settings.
check if Wi-Fi is turned on. if so, look a little bit below this in the wi-fi networks section, does your network SSID show up? any info listed if you check that?
if nothing show's up, try add Wi-FI network.
if all this is working properly. and you still can't go on the internet, we'll move on.
Is this the first time you have used your router?
Try with the security off if that works turn it back on and try again had to do this a few times with some of my old routers.

Have you tried turning off security?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
yes i tried it without security but still nothing
do you use DHCP? if so, a change in lease time doesn't help? if not, enable DHCP
what about other networks? do they work?
(switch bands to another supported wifi band, if you use N, try G???)
a friend said that dhcp should be disabled?
It gives out the up address to all your equipment and should be on

Does your router filter out unrecognised MAC addresses. I set my router to allow access to only recognised MAC's. Try looking for a MAC Address Filter on your router.
no mac filtering is turned off
Have you assigned manual IP's?
no manualy ip
Check what ip address your phone has should be the same as your router except the last bit eg.
Router 192.168.1.1
Phone 192.168.1.3
If not they can't talk as on different domains.
If they are ok try pinging your phone from your router (if you can) or use your computer

Hi All,
i switch wi-fi on and the phone find the access point and connect to it. But it doesn't navigate to the net or market or anything else. Otherwise if I use the 3G it works perfectly. Just try to initialize it twice. Same problem.
Some suggestions?

Hmmm, could be a multitude of different things. A few questions:
1 Are you rooted?
2 What security settings do you have on your router?
3 Have you ever been able to connect to the web thru your router?
Answer them and I will try to help.

Hi MrZak,
1) phone is not rooted, unboxed 16 hours ago;
3) I always use the router with a mac and a pc on windows xp
2) I do have some doubt about the router (it's a cisco linksys). Even iPad has several connection problem BUT, i tried a different router last night (3Com) and it doesn't work too while iPad works fine.
Firstly, update the phone from:
Settings / About Phone / System Software Updates
If that doesn't help, try a factory reset.
Also, when you go into your router settings is the phone showing up under devices?

It could be a simple IP problem. Try with static address and see if you can access your LAN and internet.

It doesn't work BUT... I tried with the 3com router this morning doing a simple "restore default" in browser web. It worked. I tried to do the same at home with the Cisco Linksys router and... it doesn't work. Could it be the router?

Can you please try to put a static address and ping it from the local network. Preferably ping it from a computer that is connected to the router via cable rather than wireless. If you can ping it, the problem is definately with the router. Also please check if you have MAC security enabled on the router. If you do, you'll have to add the DHD's MAC address to the table.
EDIT: Or you can try to install ping from the market and see if you can ping your router.

I installed the pinger from the market. Anything to ping. It states "WIFI network may block outgoing ping request". Simply WiFi on the phone doesn't work . Any suggestion?

Try connecting through an unsecured network like some coffee's hotspot and if it still doesn't work, it's faulty. Until then, it's more likely to be your network setup.
Edit: just read your previous posts again. You say that it worked with the 3Com router, so it's not a problem with the phone. Check the security settings on the Cisco router. Check if it's using AAA/RADIUS server, MAC table, etc. The fact that it connects but no traffic passes through is symptomatic to a security problem, not a hardware one.

I had exactly the same problem, turned out it was my bt hub, a quick restore to defaults on my hub sorted the problem out.

Hey,
I'm having major problems with wifi on my x10. Yesterday, the phone suddenly couldn't access the internet over my home wifi network, which has a WPA2 personal passphrase. The phone still showed up as connected to the network, but could not get online. I reflashed my x10 with SEUS twice, reformatted my memory card, triple checked my router settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get WPA2 personal keys to work. WEP keys work perfectly. Does anyone have the same problem? Can anyone help me out?
Baseband .54
Stock Android 2.1
Thanks!
Try resetting modem.

Use some kind of another WPA2 security. There are diffrent ones. Are you also sure that you've typed the correct password without typos?

Hello. I'm new to xda. I have problem with my Xperia X10i. When I try connect to a wi-fi network it take forever to get its ip adreses and i don't know if it succeeds or not because after that is say's connected with limited connectivity. I have searched the web and xda but nobody has a solution to this problem. I am running Android 2.3.3 updated through SEUS. Not rooted or anything. What can I do?
I had the same problem, so I feel your pain. Go into android market search wifi fix..if the app doesn't solve the problem, reset the router. Hope this helps.

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.
the only issue i am having with wifi sense ive had this phone has been connecting to linksys wireless N routers. i have turned off N functionality of the router using b/g only but all the phone does is alternation between "scanning/disconnected" doesnt try to obtain IP address or anything. its only those routers i have issues with. belkin wireless N works fine (with N turned off of course)
I had a similar problem, I solved it with wifi fix, thanks.
If you updated your x10 through the SEUS...its probably problem on your wifi router..try to reset settings and power off your router..

Okay, so I'm trying to help a guy with his Xperia X10a. He doesn't have wifi working and does not a have an account for the phone so no 3G. He needs to download wifi fix, can he just download it on his computer and then tether it and sideload?
1.make sure that ur access point has internet access.
2.if there's no server then ask ur ISP about static IP & gateway
3.if there's a server..then ask if u can get a static IP
4.also try "forget" then reconnect and if the wifi with a password then it might be wrong
don't connect ur modem in bridge mode.......
Still not working
I have tried the wi-fi fix app and nothing changed. I have found a temporary solution in witch you use static ip on your phone. But this solution is just for home because in a pub or any free hotspot it still doesn't work. Now I have flashed CM7 to my x10 and the wi-fi seems to work a little bit better but not perfect. And the wi-fi range is also poor on X10 compared to a Iphone 3GS or even a Optimus Black.

Orginally yes poor range..don't compare to a s60 nokia phone
i think problem is your wi fi modem , try to setting your modem again ,
Go to setting >Wireless > Security
and
Select SSID: Modem Name
Network Authentication: Open
WEP Encryption: Enabled
Encryption Strength: 128
Current Network Key: 1 ( up to you )
Network Key 1: xxxxxxxx ( 13 characters ) and try again to connect
