[HELP] Cm7.0.2 don´t see wifi network

I have have updated cm7 to 7.0.2 and my gps is now working well... but now i´m facing a new issue.
I use a coffe shop wireless connection to do many things to the phone. but now it cant find the signal from that connection.
Before the update, and in cm6.1 i could connect to the wireless, now it dont show up on the wireless connections screen.
can anyone help me in here?

I had the same problem. I think it's being caused by the wifi trying to autoconnect to a remembered AP in range. I just had my phone "Forget" the network I knew it was trying to connect to (my home network) and it worked.

but every one sees the wifi network and i dont see...
really i am almost to downgrade to cm6.1 were there i have no trouble to wif and gps.
Today i saw the network and try to connect and fail... and then i connect and in the middle of using ebuddy disappear. then could not connect anymore.

Cm7 is quiet weak with wifi. Meaning the signal strentgh in cm7 is less like e.g. on b 0.8.4 maybe flashing another radio helps.

I flash another radio and didn't work. Clear data, cache and dalvik. Nothing. Só i give a trie on nightly #58. Did a clean install and it worked. Went to the coffee shop and detect the wifi and could connect with a good signal. Tomorrow i'm going to my brother's house where i had the same problem. Then i will report if it's ok or not.

I went to the coffee shop and again... i dont see the wifi. Yesterday worked... today cant find again. I love cm7, but like this is not very good. Well, im going to downgrade. I cant find any real solution.

have you tried changing channels on wifi settings-->advanced-->regulatory domain? just a shot though. it worked for me on the nightlies. on latest cm7 stable though, i haven't need to change it...

did you use any other wifi tool than the cm7 internal one? Wifi analyser or similar apps may watch out for more ssid than CM7 itself
maybe the wifi channel is out of range, meaning cannel 11 or higher. Then change the channel settings in android settings

For me, Wifi and GPS don't seem to be giving problems. But again, thanks for bringing in the useful information.

not working in Brazil with Cm7 rom ported from defy

On my UK 2.2.2 android there is no /system/etc/gps.conf file. Maybe this GPS fix is only for HTC phones.

In MIUI, I have the file in
/system/etc/gps.conf
and
/etc/gps.conf

/etc is a symlink to /system/etc the files are the same.

I have an issue whit my wifi:
it stopped receiveing wifi signal, then I flashed the last version but it still not receiving any wifi signal.
I tried to delete my saved wifi and it doesn't work
a data wipe can help?
any suggestion?

Are you using the latest version of the Rom?
Did you flash a Froyo and/or a GB SBF?

Wifi problems with 802.11 N + PEAP Authentication
Hi folks!
Here in my university we have a Network called Eduroam (www.eduroam.org , probably you've already heard about it).
The Hotspots are N capable, so my phone, if connected, shows a speed of 65 Mbps. For the authentication, we use MSCHAP v2. So far, so good...
Now to the things I experienced: @ home, where I use a 802.11g network, everything seems to be ok.
Here in the university it's not. Sometimes it needs a really long time to connect to the network, and sometimes it drops the connection just shortly after. Switching off and on again speeds up the process a lot.
But now to the worst part: Often, the connection is shown as established ('Connected'), but in reality there is no connection: No mail connection, no HTTP connection, ping doesn't go through... nothing. Even it shows it is still connected.
Now I am not sure if this issue is caused by the autentication or the N Network , but I can say two things for sure:
1. My laptop, when connected to the same network with the same parameters works fine.
2. It has been working fine up to the transition from Android 2.3.5 to 2.3.7.
I'm running cm7-20111021-NIGHTLY-Milestone2-ICS-pre_stable-v1.5 on a A953, but was also experiencing those issues on builds before that one.
I'd have loved to post this into the developement thread, because I have already seen someone describing a simmilar issue (less detailed unfortunately), but I can't due to the 10 posts minimum rule.

Probably you can try switching off the N network from your phone. Force it to connect through G.

It basically disables n network from Milestone 2
You can give it a shot.

I delete all my wifi connections, reboot the cell and work all good..

yesterday I was it my friend and tried to connect to his access point. He has b/g AP with WPA2 password protection & DHCP enabled. But when I tried to connect it kicked me off in authetication state and tried to connect again - but without success. I tried to disable and enable wifi, deleting saved connection, but nothing of this helped me.
I'm using CM7 - does anyone have similiar or same problem - connecting to WPA2-PSK wifi? I'm using WPA at home and it works ok - I just want know if it is global problem with CM7 on Milestone 2 or just me (or just this AP) and what solutions can i try.
Thanks for suggestions.

It always happens to me on my uncle's house. His wifi is WPA2 and has such a BIG password, but when I try to connect the phone acts as if nothing happened...
I think it's a global problem with Milestone 2, because it didn't work in any Rom, Froyo/CM7/GB/MIUI.

Wifi problem

Hi there!
Im on Froyobread v023b by dx. The thing is that the wifi connection (to wireless routers) isnt working quite well. It works okay at my home, but when i want to connect on a caffe wifi area, or at my school, i cant.
At my school, under the name of the connection it says "protected with WPA/WPA2 PSK" I dont know if it changes anything, but well.
Its always the same, i connect to the router, put the password, wait, and it keeps saying disconnected, or out of range even when i am on the range of the router.
Any help?

I'm having the same problem with gingerDX. I use WEP security in my house and it works ok. But can't connect to any other wifi protected with WPA/WPA2 PSK =/

It's a problem with configuration and compatibility. Different routers/ap's use different configurations, and configurations can have different settings.
I can only connect to my router with modded roms if i disable N draft on it or it gets on a "connecting loop". Does it mean the phone cannot connect with N routers? No.. I have no probs with my girlfriend router and it has N enabled.
You seem to have problems using WPA.. I use it also use WPA and have no probs.
The modded wifi libs must have an incompatibility with some settings.
Some routers allow you to tweak them alot, maybe changing some values can do the trick, or even changing the WPA encryption type..

DX already tried different libs but they all work incorrectly in some cases

My university uses 802.1x EAP with mschapv2 authentication. I don't have a problem if I go back to the stock eclair rom on my x8, but with froyobread and ginger dx, i get occasional connections, followed by drops, and then the scanning-connecting-disconnecting problem. Usually, I have to forget and re-enter the network details to connect. With Ginger DX v12, I can't connect at all.

i updated to DX v12 and connected today to my univ. wifi with no problem. i wasn't able to connect with the earlier version.

I updated today to gdx v012 and it connected in "some" places with WPA/WPA2 PSK, not all of them (my school for example).
It just keeps saying disconnected, searching, connecting to, disconnected, and so on.

Are there any custom roms for the x8 that work well in general and also don't have wifi problems?

I think "protected with WPA/WPA2 PSK"is the problem, my phone can't connect to this kind of net work, WEP and OPEND is Ok.

i can conect to any router with any security but... in gingerbread it auto disconect after 2min

My p6800 updated to 4.0.4 and unable to connect home wifi, however, it connect to office wifi very stable.
Today, I tried to config wireless router, and found that my tab is able to connect when I set the wireless in wpa-tkip, and it keep connect strength and no problem now. (My router previous setting was in wpa2-aes)
I think it should be the p6800 driver problem, hope someone can fix it.

Hi. Nice to meet people from Hong Kong here. May I ask How's the xxlq1 Android 4.0.4 rom? Is it much smoother than original official Android 3.2? Any Pros and Cons compared with 3.2?

I've a similar situation, the wifi connection to home wifi (Open, Mac Filtering, Dynamic IP) really sucks, but connection to office wifi (WPA, Hidden SSID, static IP) very good.
I've just factory reset my home wifi and set to using WPA-TKIP, Hidden SSID, but it didn't really help. My notebook, Galaxy Note, iPhone4s, iPad2 all get connection very quickly and stable, but not my Tab 7.7...

I update it from 3.2 with mobile ODIN without wipe to keep all apps and data, after update all apps work.
4.0.4 is good and smooth, only problem is wifi at home, but office work.
I backup the room, and tried fresh flash 4.0.4 only, and wipe all data, still not work.
So I think of router and try to config router to fix this issue.
Now I am happy with new rom.

Yes, everything is good except Wi-Fi issue but its solved now

Check them channel on the router. Find a clear channel using a wifi sniffer and try again. I did this and have no issues now.

Wifi "Connecting" on CM10 >march and CM11

Hello !
I still have problems of "connecting/disconnected" wifi after all this time since de new CM wifi driver of march... I don't use a lot of wifi, but it could be good to have access to it sometimes..
I tryed to change change the wifi driver to an old one by flashing a custom .zip like said in some posts, but it didn't work. With the stock motorola room the wifi works very well.
And with CM11 it still have problems.
Has someone an idea ? I don't know what log (or something like that) could be usefull to answer the problem, if someone can tell me what to search it would be good !

Yes, I tried static IP or DHCP, when I flash a stock rom it works directly on the first boot, with CM and the new wifi driver it's impossible, it's always "connecting" -> "disconnected".
Something is quite strange : Even when I have 4 wifi bar, when the status switches to "connecting" it falls to one bar. And when it comes back to "disconnected" the full signal reappears...
Quite strange...

Change lease time from router. Also what is the security set to? Should be wpa2 aes

At home my router is set on WEP (I know, bad idea), and at work, WPA2-AEP PEAP (with login an password).
I tried with no security at home, it's not better...

I can't check it in my office, I'll chek at home, but I still have this problem in static IP, so it should'nt be that, isn't it ?

That's true, static ip should have worked. Disable Wi-Fi optimization from settings and set band to 2.4 only. If you still have a problem I guess it's because of some incompatibility. The driver cannot be easily changed, old Wi-Fi driver was replaced for android/kernel compatibility

I just tried with another router, WPA PSK, with static IP, still the same problem : "Connecting -> disconnected", etc...
The wifi band was already 2.4Ghz, and wifi optimisation was disabled.
What can I do to solve this compatibility problem ?

You could try with dhcp on newer router, but I'm sure you've done that already

I tried other networks yes, same problem. I'll try to modify the connection timeout, but the problem is seen on any router, so I don't think that it's this... I can't connect to my gopro hero 3 for exemple, it's the think that bother me the most in fact !

This is not a CM issue, so they may not help you. FYI, WPA2 - AES should be used. TKIP caused similar issues for me

But why did it work well before march 2013 and the new driver then ?

No clear idea. AFAIK, it's problematic on stock, but I've never tried that configuration on the newer driver.

I can say goodbye to my gopro, office network and so on if I want to keep CM11 ? That's quite strange ! I'm the only one in this case ? Noone has a gopro and CM11 ?
