I had the same problem. I think it's being caused by the wifi trying to autoconnect to a remembered AP in range. I just had my phone "Forget" the network I knew it was trying to connect to (my home network) and it worked.

really i am almost to downgrade to cm6.1 were there i have no trouble to wif and gps.
Today i saw the network and try to connect and fail... and then i connect and in the middle of using ebuddy disappear. then could not connect anymore.

Hi,
Cm7 is quiet weak with wifi. Meaning the signal strentgh in cm7 is less like e.g. on b 0.8.4 maybe flashing another radio helps.
Sent from my Legend using XDA App

I flash another radio and didn't work. Clear data, cache and dalvik. Nothing. Só i give a trie on nightly #58. Did a clean install and it worked. Went to the coffee shop and detect the wifi and could connect with a good signal. Tomorrow i'm going to my brother's house where i had the same problem. Then i will report if it's ok or not.
Thanks.

I went to the coffee shop and again... i dont see the wifi. Yesterday worked... today cant find again. I love cm7, but like this is not very good. Well, im going to downgrade. I cant find any real solution.

have you tried changing channels on wifi settings-->advanced-->regulatory domain? just a shot though. it worked for me on the nightlies. on latest cm7 stable though, i haven't need to change it...

did you use any other wifi tool than the cm7 internal one? Wifi analyser or similar apps may watch out for more ssid than CM7 itself
maybe the wifi channel is out of range, meaning cannel 11 or higher. Then change the channel settings in android settings

I don't have them problems but I'm bored tonight. The search function came up with this, amongst other things:

What's wrong with your WIFI? Mine works fine on the latest K-jam ROM when connecting to my "slow" (B) WLAN router.
wifi quit workin for me
i cant connect to any routers. I had to manually enter DHCP settings (dns) in the old cingular rom because my router sucks or something but now with the same settings and stuff i cant get on to any access points. just says connecting and then NOT CONNECTED.
weird.

Yes. Weird. My WLAN router is unstable, sometimes nothing can connect to it. Rebooting it helps.
I can't come up with anything more intelligent that that right now. Good luck
solution to the time problem found
Start > Setting > System TAB > Reginal Settings > Times TAB
Change "Time Style" to "h:mm:ss tt"

I read in previous posts that upgrading the firmware of your router to the latest version often helps with the connectivity issues. Worth a try.
my router is up to date with firmware
i cant connect to anything. i can see SSID's. the unit is finding networks, i just cannt connect. it goes from CONNECTING....to NOT CONNECTED.
im stumped. tried everything i can think of!

No internet through Wifi after 2.3.3 update

So I just updated my Desire HD with the new 2.3.3 update. I downloaded the update OTA using the wifi connection here at home. The download of the update and the installation itself went fine. When my phone rebooted after the update I was glad to see all my settings and apps were still there.
However, there is no connection to the internet anymore through wifi. It does connect to my wifi as I am able to use the Unified Remote app to control my computer. None of the apps however can use the wifi connection to connect to the internet any more.
I already deleted my wifi settings in my Desire HD and re-added them, but that didn't do anything. A simple reboot didn't solve my problem either. My mobile network connection works fine, although much slower than wifi used to be of course.
Does anyone know what I can do to hopefully get my internet connection working again?

This is a known problem...HTC gotta fix this with a new OTA ...
Btw, i can connect to my wifi, and also browse market and web with the standard browser..
Ps:Whit new 2.3.3 Ota..
Chefs have found the WiFi problem. It's not really a big problem. But HTC implemented a minimum WiFi signal strength, which is set high.
So if the signal isn't strong enough, the WiFi will be turned off.
Infact, here on my desk the signal is on the max, and i havent any problem..
I am getting problems too with wifi after update.
For some reason at home wifi is ok here i only reach internal network ...
Very Strange problem...

I doubt that's the problem. When I look in the Testing menu (using *#*#4636*#*#) and go to Wi-Fi Status it says the RSSI is between -51 and -76 which should definitely be strong enough I suppose.

You're correct
HTC has set the minimum WiFi strength to -88, which is imo too high :-/
That's why people will experience dropped wifi
So what is the solution?

For casual users: Nothing, wait until HTC releases a new update.
Chef gtg465x has provided a fix in "ROM Development"-section, but you need to root your phone and use CWM etc. If you're not familiar with these things, you better don't try to fix it.

I suppose that only helps when you have the problem of your phone dropping wifi signal when it is below -88? Then I don't think this will solve my problem, as my signal strength is ~-60 and the wifi connection itself works fine but just doesn't connect to the internet after the update.
EDIT:
My problem has been solved
It appears that my phone does not get the right information about the Default Gateway when using DHCP as it was set to 0.0.0.0. After setting the phone to use a static IP I could change the Default Gateway and solve the problem.
Now the question is, why doesn't my phone get the right Default Gateway from my server after updating the phone to 2.3.3?
iep thats my prob ...
Where can i find the signal strength of wifi in DHD ??
When i'm near my router, activating wifi on phone, it only tells "excellent" but there are no values.

Wow, thats the reason, why i love this forum. Thank you very much. Your answer came blazing fast.
The value tells -57 to -60 (pressing on 'Refresh Stats') sitting directly near the antenna of my router
I can't evaluate, if these values are good or bad.
Would be nice to know, which range is good and which range might result in connection problems.
Thank you

Those are pretty good numbers I believe. I am usually getting between -52 and -70 when sitting in my room, which is about 6m away from my router (and through 2 walls). Apparently, anything lower than -88 is bad with the new 2.3.3 update as the phone loses wifi connection at that value.

Ahh i understand. So lower values are better than higher ones.
I heard, that it depends on the radio. I flashed 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2 used with 2.3.3 (MDJs VivoSense 2.1) and it works very good. (no wifi drops at all).
GPS is fast as well. After some seconds i get about 8-10 satellites.

This is pretty annoying problem, why did HTC changed it when it worked good and making it worse?

Cannot connect to Wifi hidden SSID!
Hi there!
Huawei X5 - U8800
Android ver. 2.2.1
Kernel ver. 2.6.32.9-per
[email protected]#1
Build: B160
There is no chance to connect to Wifi hidden SSID!
I tried with previous builds also (B136).
EAP method: PEAP auth
Phase 2 auth: MSCHAPV2
Anyone knows this problem yet?
Any solutions?
Brgds,
S.
Unhide the SSID... If is the Desire HD there is an "issue" with froyo + Hidden SSID's... found out after having 3 days of the same problem, did some digging and found it doesn't like the Hidden SSID.
The other option is using a program like WiFi Connector which forces a connection to a Hidden SSID, not tried it myself but apparently is works.
Thanks for the info. I cannot "unhide" it because it is a company hidden SSID
I will try this Wifi Connector ...but i tried some other apps before without success
Any other thoughts ?
Brgds,
S.
Unfortunately it doesn't work either with Wifi connector

I personally don't think this is a bug indeed. It comes to the same problem for some USB wireless clients in the market.
I suggest that you can solve this problem by choosing "Add Wi-Fi Netword" manually. This option is at the bottom of the list. After pressing it, you'll be asked to input the SSID as well as the encryption (WEP, WPA2, ... etc). Provided that you input them correctly, you should be able to connect to that specific SSID.
Hi there!
I know how to mannualy add SSID and enc. settings... it's not problem in setting tough but in software version of Android i guess. When i set Phase 2 Auth to: MSCHAPv2 or whatever ... after i am getting back into settings Phase 2 Auth is set back to: NONE
I'am stuck ...
I guess you need to ask your IT colleagues if they have enforced additional security in their wifi setup like MAC address allow list and limited DHCP.

Wifi problems with 802.11 N + PEAP Authentication
Hi folks!
Here in my university we have a Network called Eduroam (www.eduroam.org , probably you've already heard about it).
The Hotspots are N capable, so my phone, if connected, shows a speed of 65 Mbps. For the authentication, we use MSCHAP v2. So far, so good...
Now to the things I experienced: @ home, where I use a 802.11g network, everything seems to be ok.
Here in the university it's not. Sometimes it needs a really long time to connect to the network, and sometimes it drops the connection just shortly after. Switching off and on again speeds up the process a lot.
But now to the worst part: Often, the connection is shown as established ('Connected'), but in reality there is no connection: No mail connection, no HTTP connection, ping doesn't go through... nothing. Even it shows it is still connected.
Now I am not sure if this issue is caused by the autentication or the N Network , but I can say two things for sure:
1. My laptop, when connected to the same network with the same parameters works fine.
2. It has been working fine up to the transition from Android 2.3.5 to 2.3.7.
I'm running cm7-20111021-NIGHTLY-Milestone2-ICS-pre_stable-v1.5 on a A953, but was also experiencing those issues on builds before that one.
I'd have loved to post this into the developement thread, because I have already seen someone describing a simmilar issue (less detailed unfortunately), but I can't due to the 10 posts minimum rule.
Best regards and thanks for that great port, Endless !

Hi everyone,
yesterday I was it my friend and tried to connect to his access point. He has b/g AP with WPA2 password protection & DHCP enabled. But when I tried to connect it kicked me off in authetication state and tried to connect again - but without success. I tried to disable and enable wifi, deleting saved connection, but nothing of this helped me.
I'm using CM7 - does anyone have similiar or same problem - connecting to WPA2-PSK wifi? I'm using WPA at home and it works ok - I just want know if it is global problem with CM7 on Milestone 2 or just me (or just this AP) and what solutions can i try.
Thanks for suggestions.

It always happens to me on my uncle's house. His wifi is WPA2 and has such a BIG password, but when I try to connect the phone acts as if nothing happened...
I think it's a global problem with Milestone 2, because it didn't work in any Rom, Froyo/CM7/GB/MIUI.

Wifi not working correctly

Hello people of XDA!
I had my note 3 runnning on CM11, suddenly it wouldnt connect to my router 5ghz network anymore but it did fine on the 2.4GHZ i tought it was a CM11 bug so i restored back to TW now i can connect to the network but my Download speed is really slow (about 1-2 mbps compared to my laptop wich speedtests at 50 Mbps running the same wifi)
The question is: is my note broken (again) or what should i do ?
Great now i cant even connect to the 5GHZ network, if somone kind would help me i would be thankfull!
(You havent changed any settings in your router lately ? )
You tried rebooting ?
If wifi isnt working at all one of your last chances might be a backup + wipe system/clean flash of current ROM.
Use wifi anyalyzer on the play store, and see what channels other routers are using, if they are on the same as yours and there is an empty spot somewhere, try changing your routers channel to a free one.
I have had many issues in the past due to this, damn neighbours! Haha
This may not even help, worth a try.

Could be the location settings under Google settings, caused me problems with glitchy internet in the past. Switched it to gps only one time and after that to desired setting and it solved the issue for me.
Hope it helps.
