Is my phone dead? - Omnia 7 General

I was linking my FB contacts with my Google, and BAM! The phone just turned off. Now it's not turning back on. I put it on charge and there is no charge sign or whatever :/

Tried to take battery out and put it back? I had similar issues with my old nokia device and the problem was that the battery connector was broken.

[Q] Turn off Omnia 7 when charging

I noticed that the phone turns the moment the charger is connected to it (or if the USB cable is attached from a PC that is on). There doesn't seem to be a way to charge the phone with it switched off.
Do the others notice the same behaviour or is this a problem with my Omnia? Is there a way to disable this?
Yeah I have the same thing you cannot charge it while it is turned off. This is true from all the iPhones I have used aswell. It isn't a fault don't worry about it.
I don't know if it can be disabled but why would you want to out of interest?
I tend to charge the phone at night and don't want to receive calls.....

Flightmode is your friend
Settings -> Flightmode on
That cuts all wireless connections, you won't receive calls or SMS at night.
Noticed this too, my phone also reboots when I connect it to a charger too - anyone else had that happen?
With some reading i;ve been doing, *only recently started reading up about li-ion bats* seems they might be on to gain optimal charge / long life at the right voltage.
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
might be why...
I'm doing more research into it. But another reason i can think of is, When it's on. Boot up time isn't there. Flight mode is. I use it rather than turning a phone off now, saves turning on the other end, i can play a game, watch a video, listen to music on the plane and charge it on a socket ready for the other end.
Yes, i noticed this issue also... as i remember, in a small book that came with my phone there is written you can charge you phone when its switched off - it will charge faster.. but theres not written how never mind, its like that, and thats the way it is...
Oh this would be bad. I charge my phone at nights too, and have it next to my bed. If the screen would be on it would be too bright to sleep with (I'm a very light sleeper). Hmm...

No, the screen won't be on
The screen turns off after a minute or you can press the standby button manually.
It's just that you can't switch off the phone completely when it is connected to a charger.

Maybe it's some kind of power management that the OS is doing therefore it needs to be on.
Battery life is great on WP7 after all.
It's confirmed by pocketnow.com
the WP7 OS doesn't allow you to charge while the phone is off

[Q] HD2 won't turn on/charge

My Phone won't turn on, even to load into magldr when charged. The phone sometimes vibrates when I plug it in, like it's trying to turn on, but doesn't have enough battery to load into magldr to charge...
The phone worked fine before (except semi-regular restarts, probably due to the memory card), so do you think the battery is the issue? If so should I just buy a new one and hope that it has enough charge to load magldr, then charge, or is there a way to charge the battery whilst it's not in the handset?
Cheers
Try making sure that the pins are both aligned to the battery.
thanks, you just saved me a tenner
can't believe i didn't think to check that...

No Problem
Incidently, i know you got it fixed which is great but for the record and anyone else searching for this.
If your battery is nackard and you cant get to WP7 and MAGLDR isnt able to load to start charging that way you can try to warm up the battery a bit, dont use a direct heat source, but just warm it slightly, dont over do it, or it might blow up, you'll help the chemical reactions inside which "might" be enough to get you in to magldr or even WP7 its self
anyhow, glad you fixed it!
If my battery dies completely, sometimes it wont turn back on and wont charge. But I found that if you pull the battery, plug the charger into the phone, and then put the battery back in while its plugged into the charger, it seems to fix the issue. It turns the device on and begins charging once again.

I think my battery might be dead

My phone was working just fine when I went to bed, then I woke up and my phone doesn't want to turn on. When it's plugged in, the LED blinks orange every two-2.5 seconds, no screen flash when trying to turn the phone on or anything. I've cleaned the contacts on the battery, removed it, and reseated it. The phone was plugged into a wall charger all night. Any ideas?

I got that once when my battery was completely dead. Leaving it plugged in for a few minutes caused the orange light to go solid. Doesn't hurt to take it up to sprint and have them check out the battery.
The problem fixed itself, thanks for the help though.

Hi guys,
I have my phone pluged to the wall and charging the battery overnight
Today morning when the phone is still connected to the wall I start to send
some text SMS, have Windows phone, and the phone freezz for a second and turn off.
I try to turn on and nothing, the phone don't turn on, is like dead, I remove the battery , put it on again and nothing, I remove the Sim card the Micro SD card, try to turn on, and nothing... Black screen even the smal red/green light never turn on. I leave the battery inside and the phone is off, but the phone, close where the buttons are , is very hot !!!!!
Any idea, any solution for that, time to get a new phone...??

slim chance but try this: remove the battery and let it cool for say half an hour, or put in the fridge for 10 minutes (seriously), and try then, if it works your device is overheating, if not, hmmm
I don't recommend the fridge idea because water may condensate inside the device when you remove it and you'd be in more trouble.
it seems you had an overheating issue. leave it to cool down like said above then restore the battery and try again. Next time, stop working on the device when it becomes hot.
hi.. ihave the same problem, do you find solution for this?

Two two most popular causes of freezes / reset loops on overheating, are bent battery pins (check and try to delicately strengthen them if so), or defective mainboard (requires replacement). Check this post for more details and references (sorry too lazy to write it all over again)

Phone possibly dead.

Hello,
Last week I was using my phone as usual, I put it on my desk for about 5 minutes and when I came back it had turned off. I tried putting it on charge but the orange led doesn't show any activity. The phone doesn't turn on and doesn't do anything. I tried booting it on recovery but that didn't do anything else. I also took off the battery and put it back several times.
Help!

try cleaning the battery contacts and also the usb contacts, i had mine where it wouldnt charge all night and died and it was just dust caught on the +5v pin of the usb connector.
There is lost of dust in the usb connector, you should try to clean it. The battery might be dead, you can try to buy another one but...
That didn't work. (does the led light turn on if there is no battery in the phone or it must have one inside?)
It does need to have one inside to lit the led
If you know someone with a DHD, you should try his battery. But your phone is probably dead... Fortunatelly, the GS3 will be announced soon !
