Eventstream engine? - Xperia Play General

So I've just downloaded the app Android Assistant today and it's the first process manager that has shown me the Eventstream Engine that's running. I've seen it in root unistaller but left it alone because I didn't know what it was.
The thing that shocked me was that Android Assistant reports it's using 30% of my battery! 30%!!!!! So I searched what eventstream engine was an found out, from what I can tell, it's just a background process manager for timescape which I've frozen on my phone. So I froze it. No problems so far on my phone. Messages, music, gallery, all SE stock apps I've kept seem to open up just fine still.
Has anyone frozen else Eventstream Engine on their phones? If so, have you experienced any problems?

Ive deleted it, it just controlls timescape if you dont use it, dnt worri

Won't deleting it prevent the ota updates from applying? Or is that just base android Apps that can't be deleted?

Important possible malware

I recently installed gingerblur 4.5 and i also saw this https://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=302378e07351576f&hl=e
and each time i star the music app under music i get a "downloadmanager$download" which according to google is a malware called droiddream.
now i must stress that i did a completely clean install of SBF 1.26 and i checked if it ran first and nothing then ran gladroot checked it if ran again and still nothing.
afterwards i did the OTA update to 1.83 and nothing still(installed no apps from the market by the way) . Then i installed Gingerblur v4.5 and it the process started running. The only reason why i went to all that trouble was to see what the cause was the first time since i was running gingerblur v3.5 before and the process was there. now i dont know if what might be the cause could be the honeycomb player infected but you guys should check too.
and if i'm wrong (hope i am) i would like to be corrected
Even a completely clean install of 1.26 doesn't clean off any SD cards. I've run just about every version of Gingerblur, and I've never seen the problem you describe. I don't think Gingerblur is to blame.

Hey op I have the same process "downloadmanager$download" running this is the process of the beta music app from google, downloaded off of the market. This has nothing to do with ginger blur I am running stock. It is just a service running from the new music app. The app is an official google app I really doubt that's malware.
Did you by any chance get the music beta invite ?
UPDATE:
I finally received a response from my email to google about this and "downloadmanager$download" is a legitimate running process for the Music Beta App from google.
so then it must be from the included music player?
cuz when i run the music player then chech its there under music

Yes it's the service running from the new music player. It syncs to the new Google music service. The malware alert you saw earlier is for apps that are syncing wirelessly that shouldn't be syncing anything.

New marketplace keeps re-populating updated apps

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem with the new Market. 3.0.27?
When I go to update a few apps that need updating they will update, then an hour later or so they show up again in the list of apps under Marketplace that need updating.
It's like it re-populates itself. I updated Trulia, Chomp, & something else & it shows there is still an update when there actually isn't. Is there anyway to clear this, or is this some type of bug?
I've tried to update Chomp like 5x & it is still the same version & even shows it was updated. All of the sudden it shows up again in the Market as needing updated.
It's like the Market won't clear it as already being updated.
Does the same thing to me. Very annoying.

At least i'm not the only one
Haven't tried the info below your post though.
Odd deal though.
Mine stays like that even after I update apps, but goes away after a while.

I have .27 but it still has the problem of not showing all of my apps in the "my apps" section. I've tried to clear data & cache which did nothing. I never noticed this in the old Market but downgrading doesn't fix it either so i am back on the new 1... any1 know how to fix it?
So there seems to be a bug somewhere, but who knows where. Is there anyway to contact Google or post somewhere about this issue? Since you can't download it from the Marketplace (since it is the Marketplace) where do you post these bugs?
Mine still shows all 3 as updates. Also too i've noticed that automatic updates sometimes unchecks itself. I'll look at the Chomp update & it is greyed out when I actually checked it.
All I know is that it is annoying & needs a fix So if anyone finds one, please let us know.
I actually never had that problem with the last Market so I assume it is the file.
No issues on stock froyo.

Does it with Go Launcher and Go SMS and it's pissing me off
I wonder if the ROM has anything to do with it or the version of the Android OS we are running.
I'm on 2.2.1
ACS 1.2
Genocide 2.0
That's what i'm running on mine.

IDK but I wish Google would fix it. I am running stock & have never rooted my device. I don't think I've seen the unchecking issue but it never has all my apps in the "my apps" section. Even when I did the last Maps update it was in there then I opened the market later & it was not in there. I can go to the app in the Market & on it's page it still shows as installed & set to autoupdate but never stays in the "my apps" section. I can see a few apps that stay in there like they should but most do not.
Thank God for Appbrain though otherwise updating apps or at least checking if apps had updates would be much more difficult
Did it to Facebook with me. That was the only time though.
Mine was doing this. Clearing data and cache from the app settings didn't solve it, but I used Titanium to detach the relevant apps from the market, then reattached with Titanium; it seems to have worked. I'm hoping this is just a temporary glitch that will get resolved.

I wish there was a fix for this now because I noticed that if you have an app that goes thru an update then the auto-update checkbox gets un-checked after you update. I noticed this with Friendcaster & Picasa Tool's latest updates

My downloaded Google play apps won't show

Did have.the same issue but only lasted a little while until rebooted.
Just wondering, have you tried logging out of your account and re entering it?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Yes, i did login and logout from my account. I did solve my problem already though. apparently, when I played with the market tools in titanium I inadvertently linked several apps to google play that were not supposed to be linked in the first place. I had to go through them and unlink them via titanium and it fixed the problem. I downloaded MARKET FIXER to determine which apps needed to be unlinked.
Hope this thread would be of help to anybody who would experience the same problem.
I do wonder if they're tweaking some settings with the new play market... I did a hard reset (because I froze stock dialer.... Big mistake ;-) ) and since, on usual dpi settings that have always worked before, 200, 240, I'm getting the error my device is not supported... Googled it and there are a lot of new posts about this since the update. Dunno if it's related.
I do have titanium but have never touched the market settings...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
This is an old issue and it is caused by the Gallery and a few other system settings being mistakenly linked to the Google Play market which leads to the removal of the apps in My Apps section.
Indeed the best solution is Market Fixer as the OP has discovered above and the link is below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer
You usually only need to remove the system app market links to get it to work. This procedure needs to take place after every firmware update too. Before the apps return after using the Market Fixer, you can download a free app and install it from the Market to refresh your apps.
Yes that works perfectly, but you have to know that now your google account is corrupted for life with those system apps liked to it. Now everytime you flash or update a rom, you will have to go through this to get back a functioning market... sucks big time. F***ing titanium backup, and me for being stupid and use it to screw with the market... oh well, I have good health so that is what is important, it's just a phone...

Google Maps is my problem...

Hi there.
I have a Xperia Play with .042 firmware (stock ROM), and only rooted (locked bootloader).
My phone works well, but sometimes feels a bit laggy. I've noticed in the Running Apps list that a lot of times Google Maps turns on even if I didnt open it, and it causes me a lot of that lag, so I have to close it and then the Xplay works well again.
So, my question is, can I uninstall Google Maps and then reinstall it from the Play Store as a non-system app? This should stop thet the app opens itself on its own...
What problems can cause uninstalling Google Maps?
I don't think making it a non system app will stop it from running in the back. I just uninstalled it altogether
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
It's just Google spying on you. No need to worry.
If you are not sure just freeze it with titanium backup or system tuner pro or something. Nothing will happen if you uninstall it tho.

Use an app called Autostarts to control which apps start automatically and when. No need to uninstall or freeze anything. Its like msconfig/startup manager for android. Its a root app so it gets the job done properly, meaning it stops apps from starting in the first place, not one of those useless apps which kills them after they start.

Setting Force close?

Upgraded to 4.4 with a clean wipe. I uninstalled some of the Google apps I never use such as currents ect. After awhile some apps start to force close such as settings. After I reboot or wipe cache or both the apps then reinstall themselves. Strange. I have never had a problem like this in any other version of android. Anyone else?

yea, i found out two weeks ago that you cant uninstall system apps in kitkat without getting a fc in settings. my way around it, i disabled 19 of the apps found in /system/app/ instead of deleting them. it seems to work just as well. pick any of the apps, select to view its info, tben press disable in the app info screen. itll remove that app from the app drawer as well.
Thanks Simms. Your one helpful dude! I always felt better totally getting ride of them to open up more space but it is what it is.

its what i do too, and always done. i have found that you can delete a few apps in /system/app/, like plus one, but they cant be considered system apps. its one of the first things i noticed about kitkat, that settings fc after removing system apps.

This is wrong on so many levels. After years rooting and running custom roms, I'm suddenly stuck with a load of bloatware if I upgrade to 4.4. I only use the account manager and Play Store and don't want any other Google apks, and would like to do without even those two, in fact I have no Google account 99% of the time and both are disabled unless I have to update something.
Hope there's a way out of this...
